Thank you Zahq Good for your warm welcome to Limelight Fitness. This is no longer the hip club of the 80''s.....Limelight Fitness is an incredible gym with all the weights and machines and classes you need AND its clean and friendly! I am so glad I ventured in and grateful to Zahq for encouraging me to workout.

My friend and I signed up for a trial yoga class in November using EventBrite. We were excited to check out the facility and classes, but were so disappointed when we found out that the yoga class was rescheduled to one hour earlier without any prior notification, so we both got there on time but were turned away without any apology other than that they had just opened recently - which makes it a little odd that there are reviews going back months before November...

The atmosphere in this gym is relaxing. Great layout, up to date equipment, clean locker rooms. MOST of the staff is friendly and professional. Especially Zahq, as he is very knowledgeable and helpful with my workouts. Would recommend.

The staff is great. The atmosphere in this gym is relaxing. I was able to get through my workout without distractions. My trainer, Joe Degeorge, chose the right space to train people. Highly recommend this place.

I regularly work out at Limelight Fitness and think it's an amazing Gym. It's located in an old church that was the famous location for the 80's & 90's club The Limelight (hence the name). It was originally a David Barton gym until the chain's closing in 2016, with Limelight Fitness opening in 2017. The gym is aesthetically gorgeous; you are literally working out in church! Although the layout takes a bit of getting used to, I would say it's one of the most unique places to work out in the city. The gym has two primary focuses; large array of group classes, and personal training. I would say that the majority of people at the gym are either there for a group class and/or have a personal training session. Compared to other high end gyms in the city (Equinox), Limelight is by far much less crowded, which is amazing! Even in peak evening rush hour, there is space for everyone and I almost never wait for a machine or rack. The only things negative I have to say are: sometimes the men's changing room smells like mothballs! Strange I know. But I think they put them in the urinals... or it might just be the smell of the Urinal cakes. Regardless, not fancy. Also, the bathroom products could be a little more upscale. Overall, fantastic place to workout!

Bought a month Groupon membership. Fell in love with the gym the second I walked in. Knew I was going to join as a full member once my Groupon expired. But membership manager forced me to sit and sign a yearly contract. When I said I didn’t want to sign it until my Groupon was over, she became extremely angry and rude. Loved this facility. It’s a shame she had to blow the experience for me. Manager never called even after I was told they would twice by the receptionist. My girlfriend and I were excited to join, but we are signing up elsewhere this week - a gym a little more hospitable and welcoming.

He turns a corner and Limelight looms from out the gloom. It’s a sign. From God, or otherwise. Yes, they are open. Yes, they do day passes ($30). Does the traveler pray while he lifts? In any case, needs are met. Body, and maybe soul.

I am not a review type of person but this is the coolest looking gym I've ever been too! (It is in an old church). Gorgeous facility, very clean, perfect lighting for a great atmosphere. Has everything you need to workout whether it's cardio machines, resistance machines or in my case free weights. I encourage everyone to check it out !

My husband and I stopped in limelight fitness to check it out. We were so lucky to meet Travis! He gave us a tour of the gym and offered us a guest pass. This made our day! The facility is soooo clean. The equipment his high end and brand new. Not to forget to mention the cool atmosphere and impeccable decor. Great experience!

This place is so cool. It's located in a building that used to be a church and still has all the stained glass windows. The locker rooms have a lot of natural light coming in and just feel very peaceful. I signed up to gym time via Classpass and had no problems checking in. I showed them my ID and then signed a waiver. The guy at the front desk, Tito, gave me a tour of the place before leaving me to do my own thing. It's pretty small compared to other gyms I've been to but it has the basics like a weights room and cardio equipment and it was enough for me. Getting to the sign in desk felt like a work out, itself. I think I had to walk up 4 floors haha. The lockers come with combination locks so there's no need to bring your own lock. They have a steam room and showers. The shower room has shaving equipment, lotion, spray deodorant, body and hair products, and towels. One thing I noticed was that there were hair dryers and a lamp that were plugged in really close to the sinks, and that seems kinda dangerous as that area got very wet and some of the cords would fall into the sink.

found this gym to take classes with my favorite group fitness instructors! Their programming is good despite salient management and facility issues. Of the two studios the more modern one downstairs doesn’t have enough weights. The heaviest dumbbells are 20lbs and just a few sets at that! So unless you are happy lifting light weights in class you are out of luck. The gym itself is well equipped. It used to be a David Barton before going under, however, despite the fancy lighting the ventilation system is also problematic and half of the gym smells of pizza (it’s next door obviously). Other than that its a nice little gym, rarely crowded and in an iconic building. Other issues that management should put their heads together to resolve are abysmally bad shower water pressure, and an absence of competitive pricing.

Limelight was one of my favorite gyms in Manhattan until today when the manager came over to my friend and me and yelled at us for taking pictures. His exact words were, "I know the front desk didn't let you in with a camera. No one told you that you could do that and I want you out NOW!" We didn't even get a chance to say anything and when I started to respond, he said "NOW" and turned his back and walked away from me. I've never been treated so unfairly and disrespectfully by someone whose job is to interact with the public in a polite and professional manner. I've never had a problem there before and the gym is absolutely amazing, clean, and just perfect. The manager had what sounded like a German accent and he was extremely impolite and unprofessional. We were treated like we had just vandalized the gym when we were just taking pictures during our workout while no one was around. We were respectful and mindful of other clients, as we're personal trainers in a high-end gym. We won't be back and I'll stop promoting the gym on my social media and to my friends.
