I have a platinum membership in Cleveland Ohio. I pay extra so I can use "any club". I am visiting New York. I am told that their life time is a "diamond" club and it would cost $40 a day to use. Really? What is the point of paying extra for a platinum membership? Nothing!!!! For 4 years I have been paying this extra fee and it is not honored. This is the first time I ever found a city with a Life Time Fitness, and the expectation was that my membership would be honored. To call a club a "diamond" level and not honor my extended membership is fraud. Is there a lawyer out there that wants to start a class action?

Issen Alibris

It is disturbing and disheartening to watch a video of several young black men being denied entry to this business w/o a real reason. They asked several times why guest passes or payment for entry were a problem and you had no answers as you stared at them and called the police for these black bodies invading your safe white space. This is gross and illegal.

Cameron Mullins

Would not recommend to anyone. The people at the front desk are racist and intimidated by black people falsy accusing people of smelling like marijuana because their skin color and ripping people off by improperly charging their cards with no refunds. I’d recommend taking your money somewhere else other than this place.

Brad B

First off I just want to ask one question: were half these reviews written by people qhive been dropped on their heads as children? Yes. The staff comprised mostly of minorities is racist. Lay off the brainwashing MSM and pursuit of perpetual victimhood and use your head. The staff is racist because they didn't let a boxing champion that smelled like weed in for free?! And then the other speak of "entitlement". Its amazing the irony is lost on some of you. Gotta love this new generation of "everything a racist" and "you owe me." Get a grip other than that the only complaint of have of this place is the price for its size and the fact the pool is an extra almost 2 grand. That's highway robbery.

It is lacking a bit as far as equipment, but the people there make this the best gym I've ever been to. Everyone is kind. Ryan is great. He gets things done. Mari, DeShawn, Stephanie, Joe, Danielle... I am sorry I left people out but everyone there is terrific. They all stop to talk to you and they keep the place immaculate at all times. It deserves a perfect rating.

They are such imposters! One of my friend asked to hold by email, but they charged her three months fee. Eventhough she had never used facility for that three months and they got her email and replied to her. Furthermore, they refused to refund and was very rude to her.

Poorly managed and after watching a video, they discriminate against people of color. Please do not spend your money at this establishment. Choose to spend your hard earned money where they accept ALL people and don’t label you as a customer.

Came in for a visit just to compare it to other locations. Its by far the most unique location I've ever been to since its not its own stand alone location. The locker rooms are nice, but from what I can remember the hot tub, sauna, and stream room were not inside the locker rooms like other diamond clubs. They have only one basketball court, but they have more than two baskets, however it's almost impossible to play because the courts are always reserved by basketball players. The pool is great, it has nice view and is outside on the roof. If you're considering a membership here and live in Manhattan, I would't recommend it considering this is the only location nearby, while you could join equinox for a similar price and get access to other clubs.

This place is the worst place!! They never give my money back I'll pray this place goes to hell as soon as possible;)

Clean women’s locker rooms & showers. The amenities are well-stocked & fresh. The eucalyptus cloths are an excellent perk for Water Club use. The steam room gets very hot, up to 118, & the cold plunge is crisp. The hot tub chlorine is potent, so I can’t sit in it. The sauna is perfectly maintained, as is the pool. The yoga classes & instructors are top quality and the Melt classes & instructors are an ideal way to rest & recover. Candace is a terrific spin instructor. I want to take Pilates Reformer classes soon. Sonia is fabulous; the Mermaid swim class is super fun! The spa is terrific; definitely see Brian to get ironed out. The staff are all professional - Belinda has a personal touch & Tara is a welcome, new addition. The cafe is kinda slow (for meals) but it’s made fresh, which takes time. All the food is delicious and well-made. The prices are reasonable. My only gripe is during the busy times, the Water Club hamam gets really full & noisy. The lounge chairs - there are about 10 - get taken up & there aren’t as many hooks to leave towels etc. It would be ideal if that was a quiet space to relax, instead of phone conversations & loud chatter. I look forward to the warmer weather so everyone can go back upstairs to the rooftop pool area. The fitness floor is rarely crowded, even during the busiest times. I don’t use machines, but they seem clean & safe. The bathrooms and lockers also seem ok; the bigger lockers are in the locker rooms. I can’t rave enough about the fixtures. The plants & floral arrangements are STUNNING. There are placements throughout that make you feel at home. The furniture is comfortable & well-maintained. There are even quiet spaces to relax, as well as play spaces for pool & lounging w/others. I haven’t used the bar, but heard the cocktails are good. There are social programs, such as Jazz Mondays and First Fridays to socialize & exercise. There are even retreats (to Bali) & special workout sessions with guest trainers. The yoga studio has Reiki classes & workshops. I’ve brought friends & they’ve all loved Lifetime. I’ve been a member for 5 years or so. I can’t imagine being with another facility. It’s like a country club, sure, but it’s been worth it. I appreciate the privacy & personal attention. Management listens to its members & values our feedback. Lifetime is for EVERY BODY too; you won’t see body shaming or nonsense - at least I haven’t witnessed anything. I wish corporate would make their ads more inclusive though!

I usually try to not write a bad review - and never before reaching out to management for resolution. But, I can say with certainty that my wife and I will not be members here again. Which sucks because we were planning on moving back to the Sky building in 2 months. We were good members too - we used the facility frequently, we ate there, had a trainer the whole time, we referred people, etc. But when it was time to leave, I sent an email within 30 days to the account manager - like you do in 2019. She said that I would have to come in personally. I didn't think much of it - they are a professional organization, right? Why would I have to come in personally, I had already moved! Unfortunately, she went on vacation so, auto-reply. I later heard from another Life Time employee trying to retain us as guests which we declined as we'd be out of the state and country for 2 months. When I replied, that person had an auto-reply saying they too were on vacation. In the beginning of July, I happened to be passing through NYC for a meeting, so I stopped in and confirmed that I had cancelled on May 28, but the account manager (who we really liked and place no blame on) said they would still bill me for June and part of July. Why? She referred me to the manager. Of course, we were charged another month, so I contacted the manager - vacation auto-reply again. I emailed a "please reply" email again and got a response saying I should have sent a written cancellation via certified mail and basically, FU PAY ME. I contacted AMEX to dispute it and they knew all about Lifetime Fitness. So, we disputed the charges. On a side note, we lived in the Sky building, in part, because of the proximity to the Life Time gym. So, now that we aren't returning to Life Time, we will be broadening our housing options to include other buildings. So, Sky Management, you lost $8k/month (plus we had a car) because of Life Time's unfriendly cancellation policy. If you read through the reviews, this is a common issue. In my opinion, that's shady billing and short-sighted.

The place is nice, but the machines are constantly broken. I've only been here for 2 months. The cafe sucks. They can't even make a proper omelette. I got a large egg wrapped in veggies, they need better service in there. I give this place 3 more months before I find another gym. Not worth the 200 a month.

Lillian Young

Wow, some of these reviews are brutal! I live in the Atelier next door. They took our pool/gym, so if anyone should complain, it should be me :) I loved this facility since the day it opened. I am a member here and also an Executive member of Equinox on Columbus Ave. Favorites: Lockers on the gym floor so that you don't have to use the locker room; Life Time Cafe; Staff; Lap pool; Makeup remover wipes; Group fitness room view; Updated equipment. Least Favorite: Tiny showers; More crowded now that it's not brand new anymore; Huge TV screens with news. Considering the current political climate, I'd appreciate it if they'd avoid news networks. Conclusion: I view Life Time at Sky as more of a spa-like club for light fitness than a commercial gym for a broader variety including bodybuilding. It works for me personally due to my living next door, being a member of another gym (to balance it out) and the great price.

Warning all from a 2 year member. This place will make you want to pull your hair out. Everything about it screams pretentious. The rules and regulations are obnoxious and reflect the entitled personality that runs this place. Someone obviously is calling the shots here that is not qualified. This place is one hundred percent a rip off and represents everything that is wrong with the world. I am ashamed to have called myself a member for so long. Let's start the review with the staff. I decided one day to try out a personal trainer. At first she was great. After a couple of sessions life happened and I got bogged down with work. I had paid her the full amount. After a couple a months when work slowed down I decided to reach back out. She was nowhere to be found. I was never refunded my money nor had anyone reach out to me. Customer service dropped the ball. After about 6 months I received a phone call about how sorry they were that she left. I felt robbed and still do. Trying to talk to any staff member is incredibly difficult. It will frustrate you and you won't even know why. Become a member at your own risk. Plenty of other luxury gyms with nicer staff, better and bigger equipment and space. Also, the bald middle eastern "manager" is hands down the most obnoxious person you will ever deal with. You are a manager at a gym. Please remember this. Secondly, if you are looking to join for the basketball gym and this excites you because of all the NBA glamor surrounding it. DONT. This next year they will make the pick up games very hard to watch. The experience for everyone will be short of stellar. When training sessions are going on, there is a very off putting vibe. Lets talk about the quality of pick up games. Over the two years I saw and experienced some ridiculous things. Most notable, a group of Caucasian guys in their 20's looking to fight over the court. The 3 doornobs insisted all of them play. One of their buddies didn't make it into the game after shooting for teams. They all decided to ruin the game and start their own 2 on 1 game on the other side of the court. When asked to move aside so everyone could play a game of 5 on 5 full Court, they started puffing their chest and threatening to call the owner's son who they apparently were friends with. They threatened and shouted for far too long acting like pathetic children. You will encounter some of the most entitled people during your time as a member here. Please do yourself a favor and save the money and time. There are plenty of quality gyms around the neighborhood. Good luck canceling your membership here. They will make your life the most difficult and give you the worst excuses. Money hungry is what this place is, with zero morals or ethics when it comes to business. I'm out of the country, they explained that the only way to cancel is by coming in or sending a hand written letter (what are we in the stone age still!!!). Now I'm searching for a post office in a foreign country with my fingers crossed that the letter will get there. Oh, and once they receive the letter.... They won't cancel your membership until one month after. My assumption is so they charge your card one last time.

This place is a racist establishment. Do not work out there or get a membership. Go elsewhere. Show them you are above the hatred. They hate black people.

Dimitri Galdava

Needs to be better maintained!!! Printer wasn't working and everyone complained about it, so how did they fixed the issue? They just removed printer!!! Looks like a better solution. Its like a going to the car dealership to fix your car and they tell you that they just got rid of your vehicle because they can't fix or solve the issue otherwise. I was holding up for an year to give a review and am finally doing it. So far, this facility doesn't deserve anything more then 2 stars. Staff needs to enforce more regulations to members for walking topless! Members need more attention! Entire floor needs attention! Plus classes getting canceled constantly! Plus, they are playing F.... music at pool whole night and wont let us sleep!!!

Riecca Crew

Public humiliation of BLACK MEN/ PEOPLE should be a thing of the past, yet Life Time Athletic gym there in Manhattan just slid right on in there next to Starbucks!! Shame on you all calling the police on BLACK professional Men trying to simply workout. To add insult to injury you say it's because they (BLACK MEN) smelled like "marijuana" really! Did you all meet your black quota that particular day and decided against letting them in yet allowed a group of white guys to mosey right on through...This sucks for this gym and our society. Ownership of Life Time please show yourself and revamp your staff and make some changes. We're in 2018 people..Please don't support companies like this one.

I got a facial by one of the estheticians here named Elena and it was the best facial ever. She is soo sweet and i really see a difference in my skin. I always suffered from really bad acne and hyper-pigmentation and i’ve had other facials here in the past but Elena really knows how to work her magic! Everytime i see my skin in the mirror i can’t stop smiling. I will definately be coming back!

The membership consultant Stephanie is not professional at all and did not follow her words. Was told that I can bring a guest visit twice a month but was refused when I brought my friend to visit. I don't feel comfortable the way they treat their member, very rude and unhelpful. Normally the receptionist are very nice but they changed one with short hair today, she is not professional at all and she shouldn't talk with her guest like that.

Tim Barrett

This is my vote for the the nicest all around club in Manhattan. Large, open, lots of amenities, overall great staff, if anything a little understaffed. Yes it’s more expensive and less space than the other Lifetimes. Welcome to Manhattan.

Damian Healy

Clean with state of the art equipment. Always cool and confortable!

Charlotte A.

An entire backpack was stolen from the locker room on January 31st. Obviously not going to return to a gym where belongings are stolen so after requesting to cancel membership, Lifetime still decides to charge an entire month's membership fee per their procedures, essentially robbing me twice. You would think that under the circumstances and after having been violated in this way that they would allow you to cancel without continuing to charge you- especially since it happened on the last day of the month- but there was no attempt to ameliorate the situation. I was told I would get a call back regarding the theft and the extra charge, and I received no call back after a week, and no help from the GM, Ioanna. Perhaps it is an employee that is stealing members belongings and they are trying to cover it up? Either way, Life Time Athletic at Sky needs to reevaluate how they treat their paying customers, especially for a gym that claims to cater to high-end members. There are plenty of more high-end fitness centers who value their customer's security to choose from in the city, where you will not be risking your belongings each time you use the gym. Equinox on West 50th and Columbus Circle are just a few block away, and definitely better options.

No complaints about this Gym. Well if you guys can provide all the amenities then why not "After Shave" ? just a suggestion if that matters to you.

Im a new member @ Westchester for few yrs. The visit was not enjoyable at all. Way too much attitude! Could not walk in here regularly and workout without leaving disgruntled. One woman who stood out as being the most arrogant and rudest of all, get this, ends up "being" the GM. Pathetic! I called corporate to express my discontent with the experience...guess what? They could care less!! I am embarrassed to be a member, however service in Westchester is top notch across the board...so I will stay where I am.

As far as gym quality goes in general, I would have rated it 2 stars. But being that I already belong to a Diamond club, and Lifetime has now decided to charge more money for much less gym, the frustration level brings it down to 1 star. With only 10 people in the workout area, the gym felt like it was filling up. They have such a limited amount of equipment that getting a satisfying workout in is quite difficult. Shame on you Lifetime for the nerve to try and value your NYC location at such a high price point with such little to offer.

Toby G

Lifetime Athletic at Sky is a great facility and the staff and trainers are all consummate professionals - welcoming, friendly and kind. I've had the pleasure of working with Roman who is a wonderful trainer, personable and a great motivator. Even though this Manhattan location is smaller than other Lifetime's I have visited, it provides a much higher level of service than other gyms I have experienced in the city and packs a real punch for NYC where all spaces are smaller anyway. Everything you need is here to workout, relax or refuel and this location should not be overlooked!

Kirsten DeHaven

This place makes you feel like you can touch the Sky! The fitness floor is state of the art, classes are INCREDIBLE, the spa is lovely, the workspace is top notch, and don’t even get me started on the skydeck. The facilities are amazing, but the employees are really what make this place special. The team is tight knit and here to make your experience a fantastic one. I may be biased because I am a yoga teacher here, but I can honestly say that I love the people who I work with along with the members and completely support the company.

Marcus Neal

I’ve tried a LOT of different gyms here in NYC, and this is by far the best and most welcoming club. Great classes and member events that allow you to bring guests. Best guest policy too for an upscale gym. Cafe always has good food on the go or freshly prepared. Coming from equinox, that didn’t have HALF the amenities this spot has, or quality of service, it was refreshing to come to a club free of that clientele and stand-offish customer service. Great amenities, great staff. Only con I’d say is, I wish there were more locations here in NYC.

Pierre Chery

If you are in a group of 3 or more black men do not go here. Its clear they are intimidated by your presence. When you are trying to pay and your denied access that's racism. Most of these other incidents in the media aren't. Place like this can't buy class or intellect. I'm sure the owner was only offended because his bottom line can now be affected.

Benjamin Dan

Was visiting from Toronto and as I'm a member of one of the clubs there I decided to try it out. Being in Manhattan, it definitely has a unique charm to it. I enjoyed the indoor pool, and while it was (understandably) small, the indoor spa, steam room, and sauna were great. I particularly enjoyed the fact that they have a cold plunge, something I haven't seen at other Lifetimes and have always missed. The cleanliness of the club was fine, however I found that the amenities (towels, etc.) we're running quite low and the club wasn't busy so there was no reason it should have been. Besides this, I found the staff to be professional but perhaps not as welcoming as in other clubs. While there's room to improve, I definitely recommend visiting Lifetime at Sky.

Not happy. I came from nj to use the free first visit as advertised on the internet. They wouldn't honor it and said it was a mistake.

Excellent place. So many amenities and it's in a beautiful location with amazing views. The diamond level and sky is basically like a country club getaway with so many things to offer you such as a cafe with actual hot food and beverages, pools and so many high-end amenities. People are so quick to give a poor review over little flaws without giving to full picture of the facility. If your into being around A-listers and seeing NBA players use the courts then this is your place too. Pricey for a reason

I have been a fan of Lifetime for the last 10 years and kept my membership on hold status for 6 years hoping Lifetime would come to NYC. Most of the Lifetime gyms are the most amazing gyms that I never want to leave. However, the Sky location doesn't live up to high bar that Lifetime has set for itself. I can't believe I am saying this but Equinox Sport by the Lincoln center is superior and their Cafe is still under construction. The locker rooms at Sky are tiny. I could barely fit one of my calf muscles in it. Secondly, there is barely any space to workout compared to other Lifetime and Equinox gyms. Also, as mentioned by others, there is a lack of free weights and other workout equipment in general. Other Lifetime gyms have tons of equipment. Those gyms are so sprawling and have so much equipment that it would amaze me every time I went. The typical Lifetime also has multiple TV sitting areas in the locker rooms. It feels weird going through someone's apartment elevator to go from the basketball court and locker room to the weight room. I know the staff would probably say its nothing to worry about but it feels like there was a lack of design and planning before hand. When you want premium dollar I think that there should be none of these dings. I think it would have worked better if they just had an elevator that goes straight up to Lifetime gym and they put all the floors back to back rather than split them up the way they did. Equinox would be jealous and seething if Lifetime was able to build a real Lifetime gym in Manhattan. Build one in the up and coming area of Harlem. Sky gym as it stands right now is like your garden variety apartment gym in a wannabe luxury building. If the big wigs at Lifetime did their research they would know that everyone in NYC hates going to 42nd street. They also hate having to walk 3 long blocks from the train to go all the way to 11th avenue. To top it all off they want to charge Equinox prices when they don't really match up in terms of (location, number of locations, size, amenities). I would've expected Lifetime to do way better. Maybe if they had purchased and upgraded the Chelsea Piers then they could've built the first Lifetime gym at the caliber fans like me would expect from Lifetime. What I will say is their sauna/steam rooms and jacuzzi area was pretty amazing. The roof top also looks nice. Also, the staff kept trying to convince me that their gym is "exclusive". I'm like I pay just as much at Equinox which offers laundry service, a personal locker, convenient location and its all gym and not split between apartment and gym. Something that should be noted is that the gym isn't open 24 hours like the Lifetime gyms I am used to patronizing. When I get off work late I hate to have to rush through my workout to finish before 11pm. I feel like Sky turned out to be a botched rollout of Lifetime in Manhattan. I'll still maintain my hold status until I leave Manhattan or the folks at Lifetime build a real gym in Manhattan that is worthy of the Lifetime branding on it.

A truly incredible experience here. I've been working out at lifetimes for 10 years, and this location is beyond impressive. Although lacking in the free weight area, it makes up for this with the hot tub/cold pool and specialty machines like the power plate and power racks. 4 stars for the gym, the 5th star for the amazing people that work there.

Life Time at Sky: Imagine a crappy apartment gym stretched to the size of an uptown two bedroom with nice Brazilian hardwood. You have never seen a tinier Life Time than this. Now, I know this is Manhattan and space is at a premium, but this is pretty laughable. I wasn't able to get any workout floor photos because even with the eight people working out, we were all on top of each other. This is a diamond club and they've done a good job copying Equinox with the materials and design. If you're in the "spa" section and you squint and hold your nose (because Equinox always smells better) you could sort of feel like you're in the Printing House Equinox. It was nice to see that they didn't stick the typical cookie cutter nonsense here (with the cheap equipment selection and those Virginia Tech Hokie colors) but in the end it comes off as a very, very cheap insult to Equinox. You could join for the pool (which is nice, although closed for the season) but you only get one location and inferior locker room amenities (versus Equinox) as well as not so great and not so happy employees. Seriously, I've seen happier people at Blink. And someone (in their review) said that the employees all acted as though they didn't want to be there. Hmm, it's probably true because Life Time is probably paying them $9.50/hour because they love underpaying all employees all while making them feel like they're part of something huge and life changing. Did someone just whisper something about the Branch Davidian compound?!?! Oh, before I forget, this Life Time has a polar pool. Very nice touch and very good for recovery. I wish more places had them. Another reason not to choose Life Time at Sky: Two numbers that anyone that has ever lived in Manhattan hates—4 and 2. Using the 42nd Street station is a horrible test in patience and discipline. I suppose if you live right around Sky (or in it) it would be easier to excuse this final bit, but good God... I hate 42nd Street.

Gorgeous facility that I had the pleasure of visiting with a friend of mine on a recent trip. Everyone seemed very friendly - especially for New York City!

Nice spaces but the gym needs attention... There’s enough space and money for more and good machines... It’s crazy to me that a company like this with insane membership prices, does not have any of these: • Decline Chest Bench and Machine • Smith Machine Squat • Rear delts/reverse fly machine • Triceps press down machine • Shoulder military press bench • Calves machine Not everything and everyone has to be and/or like core, CrossFit or cycling, even tho these are basic benches and very usual at ANY gym.

Aaron Bull

Good facilities but very misleading about contract terms. Also, for all the hassle of dealing with their management and lines at sign-in it's almost not worth going. They also charge extra for everything they can think of.

Ramos Family

The club is very awkward. No kids allowed and no information disclosed.. I was very embarrassed to be approached by a team member and inform that I had to leave because of my kids. I love my home club in Framingham, MA.

Been a member for 6 months, and love this place. Yes its pricey and pretentious, and the pool is only 4 foot. But the whirlpool and rainshower are amazing. The place is kept clean, and the service and facilities are exceptional.

Really bad mannered people there ....being a corporate person I was treaded like a child ...so backward felt I was back in junior school. The place is a joke.

Nasty people!!! charged my credit card improperly and refused to refund!! didn't follow their words!!! very rude and annoying!! Especially that Johnny, so gross!!! Mari, the account manager messed up with very simple things!! Have Zero capability to manage!!

William Daub

After misrepresenting themselves in relation to pool usage they charged me $171.38 to cancel my membership. This is what happened. Before joining I specifically asked them about pool usage, afterschool by various teams. They didn't tell me that their in-house teams use the pool almost every day between 3 and 6 or 7 for practice. If they did I WOULD HAVE NEVER JOINED. Saving myself more than $171.38. What a rip-off.

Jennifer Roxbury

I went to this gym on Saturday w a girlfriend of mine as a guest and WOW! I was super impressed with the layout of the building and the staff was nice. I came because she wanted me to take a spin class with Fabian who I heard of from Mercedes club a while ago. The class was fun and I definitely worked my butt off! He was great and I also got to meet the group fitness mgr after. My only complaint about this place is that the bathroom was a little dirty (toilet paper on floor, etc) but I guess it was a busy morning. Also the location is far but overall this is a cool place.

Ibrahim Tahir

This place was the biggest sham ever. They charged me 189.99 didn't even let me use the pool, they wanted to charge me an extra THOUSAND DOLLARS just to use the pool when I could use the pool at the garden city branch which was 30 times bigger plus I was informed I would only be paying 129 if I didn't go to sky made no sense. It hardly has any machines, no space for free weights. Only gets 2 stars because the basketball court was nice. Sham of place catch me at Garden City

Tried it as a guest. Horrible. Rude and unskilled personal trainers and front desk freaks. You can get a better workout with YouTube videos and planet fitness. Based on other reviews, the personal trainers and staffs might be racist pigs. TMZ has even aired a segment with the alleged racist incident. Who would want to hire their disgusting malodorous pot smelling personal trainer?! Or be around idiots who call 911 because there's a black person. The video shows no clear and present danger to anyone!

Refreshing and inspiring space for those with an active lifestyle. Highly trained staff, crystal clean appearance and modern aesthetic if you’re looking to elevate your workout.

Sarah Galloway

To the owner who responded 5 months ago, there was no need for members to send an email to repeat when they made theri positions perfectly clear in the rate and review. Just add the equipment requested that apparently all of your facilitie lack. I can only hope ater 5 months you were able to comply. Not a member yet.

How are you not going to let the World Middle Weight Champ into your establishment! He should get in for free for advertisement!!! So what if they did smell like weed, could have been CBD’s for muscle recovery for all you know. Good luck not getting fired and maintaining your members now, hope it was with it.

Came as a guest Sat am and LOVED this place. Beautiful space! Took an incredible spin class first thing to wake my body up then lifted some weights in the weight room. Finished the morning off in the café and ordered the almond butter smoothie - yum! If I lived closer to the location I would totally join.

Aldin Rue

Great atmosphere. Cleann

Horrible services and terrible management. Stay away! Much better options elsewhere with great customer care. I won't mention specific competitors as I don't want this to seem like an ad. I would give no stars if I could.

This gym lacks a lot for being Lifetime's most expensive gym. Putting lack of equipment and adequate space aside, the gym clearly favors members that also live at lifetime. This is shown in their schedules for classes which are matched to working schedules but only for those who live in the building. They lack correspondence with other members. For example, when their hot water in the shower malfunctions they don't send a mass email. For sky residents that's no problem kuz they can shower at home. For those who travel it is a big deal. Same thing goes for when they shut down the pool areas. Overall, the facility is really nice but poorly kept. Their hours should be longer as well.

Wang Tom

best basketball court in Manhattan, all the amenities and great trainers.

Not for everyone!!

Two bench presses looked like this. Poor management to allow a high end club to have torn up equipment.

Yuzhao Liu

St Mo

Incredibly choppy atmosphere, today, for example, they were doing a photo shoot and two poorly behaved children were running around. The number of equipment for a diamond level gym is ridiculous. The classes are decent but the gym doesn't provide an experiment to compare with lower level LifeTime locations in the New York area. The gym is also pretty dusty and staff seems less than excited to be here. Overwhelming no, go to TMPL or Equinox unless you live in Sky

Jenniferpc93

Racist Staff. It's all I have to say.

I would give them 0 if there is an option!!!Nasty people!!! charged my credit card improperly and refused to refund!! didn't follow their words!!! very rude and annoying!! Especially that Johnny, so gross!!! Mari, the account manager messed up with very simple things!! Have Zero capability to manage!!

Irene Park

They are nasty . i asked them(stephanie) to hold my account on while my vacation , but they (Kristen and Loanna) did not hold my account on and didnt pay me back about 3months . Letting you know guys before you join if you really want to be a member , ASK THEM(Stephanie who are account manager) TO READ OUT IN FRONT OF YOU EXACT POLICY ,have ZERO capacity . And as i can see these review , their fame is already low i can see i am NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO CANT GET A REFUND from them . So this review might be nothing for them .This happening is ridiculous . I hope you guy can find the other great place for working out . This is first time to have bad feeling in nyc my whole life in here , nobody work like this . I wish when you guys’ family have some issues like this , get respond like you did . REMEMBER WHAT GOES AROUND , COMES AROUND .

if you are a wanna be ”fitness” this is the gym for you, if you really want to train and get the best of you, go to another gym. Is not a gym is a social club, cuz don’t have enough machines, but the spa, sauna and lookers are good, if you really want training or are you looking lose weight forget it, the outdoor pool pays 40 dollars separately every time you want to use it does not even include them with the Expensive monthly payment, I do not see the benefit of this membership... I have visited different lifetime in diamond category and they are very equipped gym and only pay 149 per month, but this in Manhattan has more areas for relaxation and a minimum area to train and pay 200 are things that I can not understand.

Zoran Lazov

I won’t say this gym deserves diamond level but I guess the location is making get there. Over all the spa is very unique

Julia G

I think the gym is fantastic. Yes, it lacks the breadth of equipment and space as some people already pointed out, but the overall gym is great. It's never as crowded as Equinox (literally, you have people stepping over you there). The trainers are fantastic. Class selection is good. Can use a bit of tweaking, but in general, they have good selection. You don't really have the same snobby atmosphere as some of the other clubs in nyc.

Abdi Farah

Worst place ever. They are racist to africans the receptionist ladies cant even conceal theyre sheer racism wouldnt recommend it to save my life !!! Enter at your own will. Not letting a mf world champion in thats absurd.

Charlie Redmond

Lifetime Fitness, the Manhattan version, is about a third the size of a typical LT. One third the gym floor, one third the typical number of machines ... even the pools are one third as long and wide. Like most things in Manhattan, it’s crushed by a crazy real estate price reality, so it’s all downsized and you get charged a surcharge besides - even LT members have to pay $40 per visit after your first, something I’ve not run into in any other LT. I will give it a kudo or 2 for the outdoor pools that come with Manhattan view. No other LT has that either

rahim gilani

Don’t know what’s up with the negative reviews but went here all of last year I would spend hours here was amazing I would continue to go here if I didn’t move. This gym is honestly the only thing I miss about NYC. When you’re in here you don’t feel like you’re in the city it’s an escape. Basketball was amazing, yoga was amazing the spa is so good could spend a whole day in there. Trainers and staff were very warm and welcoming espcexially Ryan, Stephanie. The trainers always gave me tips on forms trainers like Tim who litteraly saved my shoulder from surgery this dude has the knowledge of a god in terms of correctional workouts. I’m a brown Indian kid so if there was any racism especially in a fitness like environment trust me I’d be the first to experience it but I never have and most of the staff is very diverse itself. Maybe one day in the future I can move back to the city but for now the other life times great as well but sky will always be my favorite!

I've been a member since Lifetime opened a few years ago - I am there 5-6 days a week. I watched it go through a rocky first couple of years as far as management, but it was always a beautiful club. Imagine an Equinox but nicer, bigger, and less crowded - with better amenities eg, the two outdoor pools and big outdoor space, the beautiful hammam downstairs, the spa (which rivals high end spas around the city), and the cafe which has great food and is well designed with great workspaces too. The class instructors have always been top notch, too. I can't speak highly enough about the classes and the instructors. Over the last year, new upper + middle management were brought in. Now the service finally matches the infrastructure. I'm really impressed with the new team that has resolved many of the issues I am reading in the notes / comments from earlier years (I can relate, some of those issues used to bug me too). Those problems are gone now - 100%. It's actually remarkable how new management+staff turned things around. Like the person below my comment stated - "The facilities are amazing, but the employees are really what make this place special. The team is tight knit and here to make your experience a fantastic one." I think that's a great summary - I am so impressed with the employees and instructors, across the board...and it's clear they are tight knit because they're all happy working together, which rubs off on the members and makes us happy to show up there. My membership now feels like way more than just a workout routine. It's an important part of my day where I go for wellness, relaxation, remote work, meals/snacks, to lay out in the sun and swim, and to have fun. I feel close with all of the employees and enjoy interacting with them. The class instructors motivate, challenge, and inspire me. I really enjoy the whole experience and appreciate it.

A good athletic facility wih a ton of equipment and facilities. Word if caution its really hard to cancel with strict penalties

Olena Birkman

I am a big fan of this gym I used to belong to equinox and had enough. The gym was filthy and they ripped off my credit card for months. The cycling classes here are THE BEST around. I have tried everywhere soul cycle, equinox,etc... great energy and top notch trainers. The pool is also gorgeous. My only complaint is equipment can go down for extended periods of time but I have found much much worse at other gyms. I highly recommend.
