Probably one of the more professional Muay Thai gyms there are. The instructors and Cobam himself are very attentive. Classes are frequent making it easier to work with a hectic week schedule. What I like most is that this place Muay Thai specific!

Great environment. Everyone is kind and respectful. Though it is getting a bit too popular. They need to expand the training area somehow.

I have been trying to take up Muay Thai for a while but due to my long work hours I wasn't able to. This place stays open late and is how I ended up there. I just did my second class and I'm really getting hooked. People are friendly and focus on your form and technique. It is set up like a real Muay Thai Camp in Thailand. Getting lessons from Coban is amazing. Where else can you say that you're getting lessons from a world champion. All I can say is that I made the right decision joining this place.

I spent some time looking around at the different kickboxing/Muay Thai gym options in Manhattan and Coban's stood out, so I decided to give it a try. It delivered. The team and students are really friendly. The training is solid and Coban is present in-person, demonstrating and correcting people's technique as we practice (f you're unfamiliar, Coban is one of the legends from the Golden era of Muay Thai). The facilities are also very clean. Highly recommended!

Coban is a Muay Thai legend and a great sweet guy. Staff working there are very friendly and welcoming. The gym is spacious, fully equipped (boxing equipment, locker room, restrooms, washing machine, cardio equipments). It's also located in the heart of Manhattan and easy to get to. Definitely recommended, no matter you are a beginner or have experience - there are all levels of students training there and you'll have a great time.

Been training here for about a year. Previously, I did about a decade of taekwondo and trained at dozens of other martial arts studios in various styles (BJJ, muay thai, etc.). Also started a business which partnered with 4% of all gyms in Canada including a few which train fighters which, today, fight professionally in the UFC. So I'd argue I've seen a fair number of martial arts studios. Coban himself is there, he's very insightful, very humble, and you can tell he's seen more than 99.99% of any other instructor out there. It's also probably the cleanest studio in NYC. For a few months, I tore my shoulder and couldn't train so I tried ClassPass, OrangeTheory, etc. All those offerings are much more expensive than what you get here. For a monthly price that's comparable OrangeTheory/Equinox/etc., you get one of the most legendary fighters teaching and pointing out where you can improve. Personally, I feel I'm a completely different than a year ago. Lastly, just wanted to give a shoutout to coach Kenny for being patient, insightful, and going out of his way to help students out. The coaches are friendly, the community is great, and I'm looking forward to continue training here!

Came here for a free trial class with Coban and loved it! Coban and his instructors are great. Everyone I met was very personable and friendly, yet super knowledgeable and professional, as a beginner it was very welcoming. I learned so much in just one class. Coban teaches the classes himself, and it is very apparent that he loves what he does and cares about his students. The instructor, Rich took the time to help me through the most of the class, he gave me so much information and couldn't have been more patient with me, and a student, Leslie, helped me through the warm up. I couldn't of had a better experience. Looking forward to joining!

Coach Coban the owner is a Muay Thai legend, highly respected and knowledgeable individual. Big shout out to coaches Kenny and Ryan whom ara very welcoming and provided me with excellent pad work out. Can’t wait to return and train again at this fantastic facility in the heart of Manhattan. UPDATE: After this review was posted, the manager Sandra promptly emailed me with detailed and comprehensive explanation of what happened. The long story short, Coban has integrated some new tools into their systems that had some issues (which I believe they have resolved now) that led to my billing issues. They offered full refunds for the wrongful charges and went out of their way to make sure everything was accounted for. I suspected this issue was unintended so was great to see fast resolution once this was escalated to the right person. ------- Orignal post: They will not pick up the phone and they keep charging my credit card for their 6 month program even after mine expired. I explicitly do not want to renew. When you go to their site, you cannot escape the modal that pops up asking for renewal. I do not know if this is some bug in their billing but they should probably pick up the phone. The only way I resolved this is to call my credit card to file a dispute and put a blacklist on their charge. I just got charged again today, which is why I am leaving this review. I hope someone on their team sees this and fixes their billing. DO NOT PAY WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD!

I have been training with Coban for several years. I'm still learning and I really appreciate how authentic and true his training is to Muay Thai.

IT'S A MUAY THAI CAMP THAT TEACHES YOU EVERYTHING FROM MUAY THAI TO THE CULTURE. THE TEACHERS ARE GREAT THEY HAVE ALL THE EQUIPMENT. THE ONLY BAD EXPERIENCE YOU WILL GET IS IF YOU YOURSELF DO NOT PUT IN WORK OR EVEN TRY TO PARTICIPATE. EVERYONE DOES THERE JOB AND TREAT EACH OTHER WITH GREAT RESPECT. WHEN YOUR TRAINING HARD REMEMBER THIS"RESPECT EVERYONE, FEAR NO ONE"

A friend who used to train here recommended this place and we're glad we made the right decision. Wonderful gym with great coaches and amazing customer support. I'd like to highlight Sandra, who is very professional, responsive and knowledgeable. She answers our questions quickly via email and helps us find coaches for private sessions.

Awesome place to train. It's a killer workout every time and I've definitely gotten in way better shape during the month I've been going. I've trained at a few other gyms and they pretty much just expected you to pay them so you can come in and punch a bag, but that is not the case at Coban's. Coban teaches most of the classes himself along with the help of a few other coaches. They are all knowledgeable and give plenty of personal attention even when theres 20+ people in class. I can tell they take pride in keeping the gym very clean which the members appreciate. If you're interested in learning an effective martial art while getting a great workout this is the spot!

Excellent and highly recommended. Authentic and traditional Muay Thai . Nice students, staff and trainers. Affordable

After coming in for a free trial class I am very excited to begin training at Coban's camp. The extremely flexible schedule (no other gym offers classes from 8:30 - 9:30 pm), clean facilities, and fantastic staff all set Coban's camp above other gyms. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to get into martial arts training or who is looking for a good fitness regime that doesn't involve going to a traditional gym.

I love Coban’s Muay Thai!! Excellent facility and the best gym in NYC. I was shopping around for gyms and Coban’s was my first and last stop. I was hooked after the first class. The facility is huge and spotless. Check in was a breeze and the atmosphere is great. Everyone is accommodating and it makes you feel comfortable. The tuition cost is comparable, if not, better than other gyms in NYC. I was intimidated to meet Coban, with his legendary status, but he is very welcoming and his instruction is top notch. Not any of the watered-down material taught elsewhere. A special thanks to Coach Kenny. He is extremely helpful and friendly. He noticed that I was new and introduced himself and made me feel at ease. While teaching, he breaks down the techniques and explains what is being taught and why we are doing it. I can’t say enough great things about this gym. You won’t find a better place to train at

Have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and wanted to try something different. I have been doing Muay Thai for 3 months, but wasn't feeling the instructor was teaching the proper techniques. I tried a trial class here and they immediately took the time to correct my form. Another one of the instructors took an additional 15 mins in the ring to help me more with my technique. Definitely decided to sign up then and there. It is important to have the fundamentals down first. Would recommend this to anyone

I have been a member for 2 years and I have to say the manager is extremely unprofessional and a bully. The rest of her staff are excellent people, and the gym is really clean, but it’s not enough because the manager will just one day decide she doesn't like you. Its like one day shes nice and the next rolling her eyes at you. The problem is you don't do anything wrong, but when she decides she doesn't like you, everything you do is suddenly wrong or against the rules. I tried to ignore the occasional rolling eyes and death stare but when she attacked me, I complained she was unprofessional. I guess it ticked her off even more because she attacked me again. Her reason for kicking me out is because I could not do some of the stretches in the warm up and I an email from my phone to my job while walking from the locker room to the benches on a break. I asked her "why are you barking at me, this is not High school". She called me disrespectful and told me to get the hell out. I made a call for help to leave and she ran to my face and told me to get off. She then started to scream at me and follow me around when I wouldn't leave without a refund for the remaining time I would not be there. The "A" student computer science geeks are disrespectful; what a compliment.

That's a great honor, and inspiration to be trained by the one of the Muay Thai legend. Not only Coban has a huge amount of muay thai experience, knowledge, but also he has great personality, humbleness, honesty. ... I'm proud of being in the camp. We learn different techniques and all the trainers and team members are so friendly, supportive. I really feel sad that I didn't join the team earlier.

Best gym in the city, the staff is fantastic

Martin Schäf

After two years of membership, I had to leave the gym because one of the staff members singled out a friend for disrespectful behavior that was tolerated with other students of different race. The incident left a really foul feeling, and apparently was not the first of its kind. While coaches and fighters were always great, there numerous cases of members that had to leave because of issues with the management.

I’ve been training here for over 3 years now and even trained through my pregnancy up until the day I gave birth. I can’t say enough positive things about this gym. I was super intimidated to start a martial art in my mid thirties but quickly realized the gym has a variety of ages and levels of experience and most people are very welcoming. Coban is really great and fun to work with. He lets you adopt your own style and will correct you as needed. He’s hands on when he needs to be. Everyone else that teaches is phenomenal. I love Ryan’s boxing classes and Kenne is a great Muay Thai coach, he’s has awesome technicque. I also LOVE how clean everything is and they have two showers which is really helpful after hours of sweating! I’ve talked to a lot of people who have tried other Gyms and they all tell me that Cobans is the best and most authentic.

I've been training at Coban's Muay Thai Camp for a month now and I can affirm that this is one of the elite Muay Thai gyms in New York. Having trained at other Muay Thai gyms before, I would be able to critique this gym more closely. In the first week I met many new faces and everyone was kind and supportive. It felt like being accepted into a family. The workouts are extremely tough but somehow at the end of class, you just want to stay for more. The instructors come around during every drill and lend advice to students on their technique or form. When these guys say super clean facilities, they mean it. All equipment gets cleaned after each class, and the mats get cleaned often. The classes are fun and Coban will usually crack a joke or two during each class. He keeps it fun, but makes you work during the drills. Overall, Coban's Muay Thai Camp is an authentic Muay Thai gym led by a World Champion with a wealth of knowledge. Do not pass up on world-class knowledge like his.
