Make sure you read the small print. Not much transparency with fees that tend to show up in addition to your monthly. Staff is apathetic and condescending when you ask questions. Equipment is not in good condition, especially in the locker rooms. Definitely overcrowded. Going to try another location.

After 16 years as a loyal member I canceled my membership yesterday. It became harder to ignore how FILTHY DIRTY their facilities have become. They allow STREET SHOES IN THEIR STEAM ROOMS, a place with moisture and heat, very conducive for “things to grow”, HOW DISGUSTING!!! If you google the subject, you will find how unsafe and UNSANITARY that is! After several discussions with the ones in charge and absolutely nothing being done, I decided to switch to ChuzeFitness and I am much happier!

This place is going downhill fast. Something is always out of order and it takes an extremely long time to get it fixed. All they do ,is post a sign saying out of order, no estimated fix date or anything. The past manager used to come to the different classes and apologize for the inconvenience and explain the problem. Now when you ask at the desk, you can tell the workers are tired of going thru the problem again and AGAIN. I must say the personnel at the desk are really nice and polite.

The gym is nice but it's too small to be paying $45 a month and its too crowded but the hospitality and cleansliness makes up for all of that. So far the best gym in my opinion in Rio Rancho.

The most run down location I have been in at Defined Fitness.There are 3 operating climb mills for the past 3 weeks and there were 6 two and a half years ago. The location is filthy and hand sanitizer and paper towels have to be mentioned to the front desk to be replenished. The TV’s have not worked in 3.5 weeks and there is half the operating equipment of all the other locations. As a long time customer Rio Rancho deserves better, put money into this location and make it comparable to all the Albuquerque locations or reduce the rate before you sink more money into new locations in smaller cities. Everyone I speak to at the Rio Rancho location has sent in multiple complaints in response to the surveys emailed out with no response. Before sending out emails to your Rio Rancho customers asking them to rejoice over new locations opening, how about updating the Rio Rancho location?

I've been to "fancier" gyms but nothing compares to the service at Dfined Fitness in Rio Rancho. It's open super early and closes super late. The equipment is in great condition and there is a ton of it. It has a great wet area (pool, jacuzzi, sauna, etc.) and a great variety of classes. But the BEST thing for me about Defined Fitness Rio Rancho is the day care. The employees that are there during the day are great. They take the time to get to know your kids and make them feel comfortable. Defined also has great personal trainers. Chance Greengrass is the best and I would recommend him if anyone is looking for someone to help take them to the next level in their fitness goals.

Borderline threatening atmosphere (Fox News; lots of workout kings and queens acting as if the gym exists for them - and that includes staff). Decent equipment, rates average for area. This could be a nice gym with management that paid attention to the behavior of staff and customers and set a better example.

Gym is horrible. Dont even have regulation 45s. So you cant even do a proper deadlift. Always super packed have to wait forever for anything and they dont give military discounts. Your better off going to planet fitness.

This location has gotten better because a lot of the rude employees that used to work here either got fired or quit. Same thing with some of the rude members a lot of them stop coming here. Thank God. Wish they expanded this location though still kinda small. I recommend coming late at night if u don’t like big crowds.

Basically it's an ok place. There are no paper towels or blow dryers in the women's dressing area. The pool gets "maintained" fairly often without any notice to the users, and is closed for the day, sometimes up to three days. Many have complained about the lack of notice, but "corporate" has seen fit to ignore us. As a serious pool user, this impacts my exercise schedule and it happens way too often. Today (Feb 13) all the pools at all the Defined Fitness centers are closed, so I can't even go to a different one. I'm giving the whole company 2 stars today.

coming here is like going to the republican head quarters Fox News and CNN on the Tv's. Most of the female staff here are very rude and just stand around and gossip about people. this location is very uninviting compared to the other locations. a lot of the members act like this is there gym and they own all the machines. Yeah I'm sticking with the other locations

The place is falling apart. Alot of things are always broken, the ladies locker room bathroom is just gross and smells like pee. I love this gym, it's sad to see it go down hill. I'm writing a bad review so maybe someone will realize that something needs to be done. 45 bucks a month and not worth it. BUT the employees are great!

I really enjoy the wet area there. The employees are all very friendly . I just wish this place was a little less busy sometimes. There doesn't seem to ever be a slow time in here. But I still go here 3-5 days a week. The steam room and sauna are reasons to come back!

I absolutely love defined fitness. The Rio Rancho location is a bit smaller than all the others but is often less crowded and the people that go there seem to be more friendly. The staff at the Rio Rancho location are amazing! They are always friendly, professional, and go out of their way to help. The kidscorner staff (at the Rio location) are exceptional. They make your child feel comfortable (especially on their first visit) and also have projects and theme days.

I can’t say enough good things about this gym! If you’re a mom and wondering about their childcare, it is awesome! Kelly (one of the main ladies in there) is an incredible human being. She is beyond patient and kind and you can tell she loves her job. She takes the time to learn all the kids’ names, and always knows what they like to play with. She is one of the main reasons we signed up at this gym and location. She is a mother herself and is spectacular- we love her!!! The rest of the staff is friendly and the manager, Matt is very accommodating and kind. Great classes, I especially enjoy Bodypump. Gym is always clean and in order when our family goes.

Visited Defined Fitness today for the first time. It's a terrific setup for both weights and cardio. Plenty of free weights, and a very good selection of selectorized machines. All the equipment was clean and well maintained. Great selection of cardio equipment. Even had the new Matrix stairclimbers that I use at my home gym in Atlanta. The locker rooms were clean and spacious. Members were courteous and there were no crowding issues. And the women at the front desk were gorgeous and very sweet!! What else can a guy ask for.

The steam room and sauna are very important to me along with non-smith machine squat racks. I go to the Rio Rancho location, I think it could benefit from one more rack due to the increasing popularity of barbell based workout routines. Both of those things are hard to find in gyms in Albuquerque. Defined also partners with my employer for a discount, which combined with all of the other amenities mentioned encouraged me to switch from planet fitness. I think I'm paying about 16$ more than the black card membership at PF which is more than worth it for me. It almost always looks completely packed on the outside but everytime I go in I'm surprised by how open it is so don't be worried that it's always packed. Great gym.

Gym is way too small for the amount of people that go there. I’m used to gyms that have a decent size mat area for ab workouts and this gym has a tiny corner which is always crowded. Have gone at different times and the place is always crowded. Not enough squat racks for the amount of people that go so you will wait forever to hop on one. Not worth the money, and weekend hours suck for people who work 12 hours days.

This gym is poorly maintained. It's small, over crowded, unclean and the equipment is dated. I have been to the gyms on San Mateo, Juan Tabo and Coors (Riverside) and this gym is and belongs at the bottom of that list. If you want to catch a flesh eating virus, by all means work out here.

The Rio Rancho gym is nice and usually clean. Usually crowded. The TV’s have not worked for 6-7 weeks. I’ve contacted them via their website and no response. The staff seems unconcerned when asked. Refunds should be in order for service not rendered.

I have been going here about a month now and really like it. I am able to work out in the afternoon so never too busy. Equipment selection is decent, except all the inclined benches are over inclined, like to hit my chest at a 30 degree angle sometimes and can't. Also it always seems like the Smith machines are taken by people who are camped out on them for endless amounts of time. Other than that the crowd is a total mix from newbies to experts, and although most everyone is walking around in headphones, never have a problem getting a spot and everyone seems friendly. Was a little pricier than I wanted to pay especially since I will probably never use the pool, but probably the best option in rio rancho. As far as the review that says it is dirty, I have not seen that in fact there is usually some sort of routine cleaning going on every time I have been there. I do wish they would provide wipe off towels and spray to carry around with you, but most people there seem to have pretty good etiquette as far as wiping down and putting away.

This place feels super small compared to other gyms. I don't know if its because of the pool and wet area. When using the machines, its not enforced to wipe them down. I know the price has gone down but its only maxing out my credit card each month. I don't even use the wet area either. The building itself needs a lot of renovations. Also the lighting outside is nearly existent. I don't think its very safe or comforting. I can only name one person on the staff that i can talk to thats easygoing and down to earth.

Facilities are great. The machines always work with only a single stair climber broken in the two years I've been going. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Be aware that the gym is very busy with almost every machine and bench being used between 10am and 12pm pretty much every day.

There's a few regular Meatheads who camp out in the squat racks or leave their weights and gym bags there to hold it while they use a machine. Besides those douchebags everyone is pretty nice

I have been members since June 19 and we've been displeased with the overcrowded atmosphere with little else to offer beyond treadmills and vanity lift workout stations. Squat racks, power racks, punching bags, and any type of Olympic or power lifting stations or accessories are all but extinct. We've made it work so far but today Saturday July 20th we've had it. They closed early to celebrate an employee get together....on Saturday!! To top it off, an employee told me today "nobody is forcing you to have a membership here." If arm curls, treadmills, and cocky employees are your thing you'll fit in quite nicely here. We're fed up

Visited on a trip to see relatives. Went with my son and nephew. Plenty of stations for every body part and the equipment is well cared for and clean. It is a pretty serious work out place but the folks inside ranged from hard core to absolute beginners. The room was very large and well organized so it was easy to find what you needed for your workout. I was doing back and biceps and the boys were doing chest...the choices between the racks, Hammer, cables and dumb bells was great and easy to find. I will go back for sure on my next visit. It is the kind of place that you would want to belong to if you lived there. Thanks for a great workout!

Great morning aquatic fitness classes six days a week, both active and adaptive for those who need a slightly slower pace. Silver Sneakers card gets you a free membership. Nice! Six lanes for lap swimming, except only two when aquatic classes are in session. There is a child care room for young ones, but no other activities for children. Kids not permitted in the pools or locker rooms. Haven't used the floor machines, but there's a good variety, plus yoga & such to check out if you like. No suit spinner and no private dressing areas, but they do provide plastic bags for swim suits.

no big complaints...they have weight machines...running machines...stationary bikes...but...no indoor running track...they have showers and lockers here. staff allowed me to get a trial membership so i could try the gym out before i bought membership...place is great for working out they have tvs placed at good distance from each other.

Not only do I absolutely love the staff at the Rio Rancho Defined Fitness, including the incredible women who run the Kids Club, but I feel a great vibe among the members as well. People are always courteous, kind and helpful! I feel like I am among friends, and I look forward to going to exercise! It’s so great that they would notice if I miss a day, or help me to not injure myself if I do something incorrectly. I love water aerobics at RR Defined Fitness. However there are maintenance issues that come up that are not quickly fixed. Today there was a light fixture floating in the hot tub, and a wall clock which has not worked for weeks, and a missing soap dispenser in shower stall.
