Although the Sunday hours of operations is horrible for people in town for business, this gym has good equipment, concrete weight, friendly staff, and a good motivational fitness environment!

They better go 24/7 with their hours before anytime fitness opens up. Very helpful for a lot of us who are working night shifts or different hours than a regular schedule.

This gym has a lot of potential but the lack of competition from non existent gyms around Carlsbad has allowed American Muscle (AM) become complaisant. if AM would address this things they would be a great gym. all it takes is some attention and upkeep, no major remodeling would be needed. First Am has a great set of free weight dumbbells in the front room, the only problem is that they do not enforce people to re rack the weights where they belong. This problem stems from not having the rack labeled, people know more or less where the respective weight goes but not exactly, leading to 80lb weights ending up with the 30lb ones Also about half of the actual weights them selves are labeled you have to guess counting the plates on the dumb bells to see what weight your actually holding.. this is very annoying when you are doing supper sets or moving up in weights every set and you have to spend 5 mins. having to find your weight or trying to analyze whether the weight is a 40 or a 45lb. I will say that AM has a very nice set of labels dumbbells in the back crossfit room but i never want to go in there because there are no mirror and the only benches they have are flat ones. i like to do incline dumbbell bench and incline hammer curls, so for this reason the back crossfit room is almost useless. PROBLEMS: > Unorganized/unlabeled dumbbell set >Dumbbells them selves are not labeled > Benches that recline in the cross fit room

Best gym in Carlsbad hand's down Would change to 5 star if there was a deadlift bar stiff bar ☑️ Olympic bar ☑️ Yoke walk for strongman ☑️ Farmers carries for strongman ☑️ Strongman log ☑️ 130lb dumbbells Room's laid out very nicely so cardio is separate from free weights along with separate CrossFit room. Offers daycare Massage therapist Amazingly staffed
