They just remodeled the old women's section and now have powerlifting platforms, which besides a full court basketball court, was all they were missing. Love the people who go there, it's a great atmosphere, and the movie theatre cardio room is an awesome getaway when you need to workout and take a break from the world at the same time. This place is seriously underrated, especially since the remodel!

I've been training for close to 20 years now and this is by far the worst gym I've ever joined. Put aside the fact that they charge an asinine amount of money for "upgrades" that never came, they are a nightmare when it comes to customer service. I needed to update my financial information so I went in to update that. Two months later and three update forms later, they're still charging my old financial! That means SIX NSF fees for a bank account I no longer use. When I called to cancel, they tried to slap a $150 cancellation fee (as if I hadn't already paid that in NSF fees for their mistake). When I told them to waive that, they insisted they "needed to contact their regional manager" which conveniently didn't have a phone number and never got back to me. After two months of struggle. I get a double charge on my new financial after I was assured I wouldn't be charged until this was resolved. When I attempted to call and resolve this matter, the club manager hung up on me! If you're considering joining because of the convenience (which I mistakenly did), keep looking. There are other options in town that will treat you like a customer and not a paycheck. But hey -- if getting treated like garbage, being nickel and dimed for everything, having questionable hours for a 24-hour gym, and being ignored when you have a problem is your thing, Genesis is the place to be.

Terrible service! The only person who is able to cancel your membership is Scott, who refuses to return calls. I've moved to a different state, have been at this location since it was 24 Hour Fitness. Go ahead Scott, do not return my calls.

Be VERY careful before you commit to this gym and its many regulations. Upset at the bad follow up with staff. An issue came up, and management did an awful job of handling it. The manager at the location does not follow up with calls and doesn't take a satisfactory effort to resolve issues. I will not return to this gym.

My friend Dane Vowell got swindled into signing a 3 year contract. The salesperson offered to pay his 1st two months with no obligation and pretty soon money started coming out of his account. Worst part of the whole thing is that the GM is dodging his calls to try and resolve the situation. Joiner beware.

Good, friendly staff. Plenty of workout opportunities. But conditions at this facility have suffered, mainly in the locker room, and pool/sauna areas. I hope they have some upgrades on the agenda, like they've done at the Cass St. location (very nice!).

Although the gym itself seems fine, the customer service and follow up is not. After reading several other reviews on here, there is definitely a pattern that is emerging. I have been trying for MONTHS to get my son's membership cancelled as he moved out of town. Every person I talk to tells me a different story on what to do, who to talk to, and takes my name and number with no return call ever made to me. Yet every month the amount comes out of my account. He signed a one year contract, which has been up and the monthly charges are still deducted. Not a good way to get repeat customers or word of mouth business.

Terrible club. Nothing works! Takes way to long for repairs to get completed. Too many issues to list. I guess you get what you pay for. This place is not any better than when it was 24hr fitness. They just don't care and it shows.

>Reps value sale more than customer satisfaction.< I was invited to try out the program with a free trial. When I was further pressed to sign up for a contract, I tried to explain how I didn't have time for a gym. Upon pressing me further and bringing up personal trainers, I explained that I already had interest in another trainer. They had me meet a trainer on spot so I would feel more comfortable signing, I still wasn't sure about them being able to fill me needs. But I was willing to find out during this free trial. I struggled getting in contact with the trainer because my phone had broken, even more so (as pradicted) it was difficult to get out to that gym. When I was able to budge the time, I emailed the GM to express that I wanted to cancel my membership due to difficulties as well as unexpected charges. He requested to schedule a meeting. I rushed to get there in time to find that he was out to lunch. I waited for about an hour. He was cordial, but I could tell that he wasn't going to let me quit before the trial ended. Instead, he explained that the charge I had seen was to pay for the following month then he set me up with a new trainer. When the day came around, the trainer communicated that he was going to be late and had to reschedule. I'm honestly uninterested at this point. The next time I was able to find the time, it was with the full intention to cancel no matter what. I persistently insisted this time. The rep who signed me up begrudgingly came up, and it seemed he cared more about losing a sale than wanting the best for a customer. He dragged through the process with a bad attitude. I payed my $150 on the spot to cancel my contract, without hesitation. I am a dancer, I am a business woman, I am a person who is constantly looking for positive things to be engaged in. I do not have time for games nor being associated with organizations that doing have my best interest in mind. It's been almost a month since I canceled and I currently have a pending charge from Genesis on my account. This can't be legal.

24 Hour was bought out by them while my membership was frozen. They just charged me yesterday $24.07 and when I called to find out what was going on and to cancel, they would not return my money. They are losing me, my husband, and many of my friends as future customers all because they wouldn't return me my $24. They were rude and definitely don't have the mindset of the customer is always right. I would ecourage you to think again before joining Genesis or letting them have your old 24 hour membership.

I just wanted to write this so anyone on the fence about joining can learn from my mistakes! I just cancelled my membership and was charged $275 plus another month's membership fee. Maybe I've just been spoiled at my past gyms but I think that's insanity. Also, if you have a debit card on file with them, they charge you an extra $7 a month to charge your card. So don't give them any card, just give them your bank routing and account number if you don't want extra fees. I highly recommend NOT signing any long term contract with them unless you are 100% positive you will fulfill it. It was my mistake for not being more realistic with the length of my contract and taking too long to notice the extra $7 charge. They locked me into 31 months in order to get the promotional rate at the time, which is insane, but I was a member at my last gym for 6 years and liked it (I only left because I moved) so I thought it probably wouldn't matter since I planned on going regularly and I joined because I moved close by. But I just couldn't justify spending $50 a month any more. They will say whatever they need to say in order for you to sign a contract before you leave and I felt pressured into signing. I highly recommend taking time to think about it. They always have a "promotion" going on and the rate is the same now as it was when I signed up. The equipment is OK but the facility has not been updated in a long time and bathrooms are not clean. Blue Moon was my previous gym and it was $10 a month and I liked that gym so much more. Plus the locker rooms were much cleaner and updated. I highly recommend just looking into a Planet Fitness or Blue Moon before you consider joining here.

Terrible company. Terrible business. The lockerroom smells moldy. The equipment is constantly broken. They ding you for whatever they can. I signed a 24-month contract during a special promotion. I was told that after 24 months, I would be done with my contract. I stopped by just to make sure I was not auto-renewed or otherwise involved in some garbage fine print practices, and was informed that due to a 30 day notice policy, I'd be charged for one more month. Genesis Health Club, where a two year contract is 25 months long. I'm so very glad to be back at Life Time. So very glad not to be contributing to this garbage culture anymore.

From the very first day we signed up, we were mislead and lied to. When tried to contact Scott on various times to discuss, my calls were not returned. He appeared to be too busy on bringing in new members and no time to address our concerns. We were lied to from the very beginning. I wrote a letter to cancel and I kept getting charged the monthly fees. Discussed it was Scott and he would check into it and again never called back. Had to put a stop pay. I would not recommend this place to anybody. Scott is a right out liar!

The guy Scott that helped me when i first went in didnt tell me that there is a fee to cancel my membership so then when i transfered it over to a friend over a month ago. They still have billed me for the membership that i no longer have. I have asked for a refund from when i transfered it to my friend and the guy i talked with said i would be able to get it now says i wont. Now that i was billed a 2nd time i have my bank dealing with it. This place is a joke i will never refer anyone here nor go back.

Nice facilities with lots of equipment. I joined back when it was 24 hour fitness and was always happy with my experience. But I recently started working at a different gym where I get a free membership and it's been very difficult to try to cancel my membership with genesis. I've called multiple times, been told to just come in, came in multiple times and had to wait for 30+ minutes and still wasn't helped whatsoever. I loved this place back when it was 24 hour fitness. It's just not the same.

I was a member here for 10 years and a previous member before that. I signed up when it was still 24hour fitness. When I started my current membership they billed me for my first and last month. When Genesis took over, my membership went up over $8 / month. I decided to cancel my membership. When I tried to cancel it was quite the process and eventually I had to go in to sign paperwork. They then said I would be charged (again) for the last month. What a rip off. Double charging people to cancel their membership. I will never sign up for a membership here again.

I wanted to talk to someone today because I had been a member of 24 hour for years but got really busy right before Genesis purchased 24 hour. I was seriously thinking of coming back. I thought, this has to be a great day for a sales guy--I am an easier sale. I talked with Joe who was great but then another guy called back and told me that my only choice was a joining fee and a commitment for 2 years (and gave me a rate that is higher than many other gyms in Omaha). He talked really fast and tried to get me to commit to the prices over the phone. I thought about it and texted back that I don't think I want to make a 2 year commitment. He responded: sorry we can't make a deal. Ok. I remember 24 hour where I had gym buddies and knew the front desk but ... after reading the reviews and my experience today . . . I question if they welcome people. Update Jan 2018. I received another text from Genesis and texted back to give them another chance. Frustrating. They stated they want me to come back: they stated I could have free child care, a hotel voucher (?? don't know with who), personal training, + gym membership. I asked how much just for gym membership without the extras because I don't need child care or want personal training. They stated they won't price that. So, all or nothing ...

Do not sign anything they put in front of you. I have sincerely never been treated worse by an organization. It's taken me four months and several hundred dollars to cancel a "cancel anytime" membership. All because I had to cancel and immediately leave town, and placed an iota of trust in a manager to cancel my membership when "the computer was having issues". Who proceeded to change my account to a "standard month to month", and double my fee. Which was awesome since I then spent the better part of a month, 500+ miles from the nearest gensis, getting randomly charged for twice a membership I thought I was done paying. I've tried to cancel at this one and the one near 72nd and dodge and every time it's "oh you might get charged one more time because you're being billed in the next 30 days, and/or there's something wrong with the computer and we can't do anything". Once you become a member they completely stop caring about you. Also, nothing has changed here since leaving behind the "24hour fitness" brand, most of the weights still have the old branding on it and you can clearly read where the old sign was on the front of the building. They take absolutely no pride it keeping the gym clean and functioning.

I signed up 15 months ago with this location’s manager Scott, who is still there. I agreed to a 12 month contract in which I was mildly pressured into. I went to cancel my membership days ago because I haven’t used the gym in over 6 months, and they inform me that I signed a 30 month contract and that there is a $150 cancellation fee. Never in my right mind would I sign a 30 month contract to a gym, ever, I have been trying to get Scott on the phone for days and can’t seem to get a hold of him. The costumer service at this gym blows my mind. If you are thinking of joining this gym, don’t, take your money and your business elsewhere.

I did not receive a copy of my gym contract only to discover I had been signed up for 36 months. The employee who sold me my membership never told me the term of the contract and had me sign on a screen so I could not see any details. My own fault for not looking closer or asking any questions before signing, but that is a very shady way to operate. Early termination fee is fairly large as well.

I like that it's open 24 hours and that the front desk is helpful but not pushy. I feel comfortable here and I feel at ease because the time that I go no one is there and I still feel comfortable with the front desk person being around but not in my space. It has a lot to offer in terms of machines, athletic trainers and exercise classes at a cheaper price than other gyms.

This location is a straight dump! No WiFi, dirty locker room and let's not talk about the showers and bathroom. If it was possible to leave a zero star review, I would. The only thing that's good about this place is it's not my normal gym. If you want a nice clean facility with friendly staff go to the aksarben location.

Genesis Health Club has been a good experience for me. I particley ' enjoy the sauna and whirl pool. The floors in the locker room could be cleaner. I suggest an employee be assigned to check it every half hour during rush hours. It would also be nice to have more channels to choose from when on the machines. You asked. Overall very pleased with the place. I have found the staff to be very friendly and very good at their job.

The place is cleaner and management is more involved with the clients. They walk around and talk to people and actually check to see that all machines and equipment is properly working. I highly recommend this gym to family, friends, coworkers and even strangers when the topic comes up about joining a gym.

If possible for zero stars, would. Nice staff, but does not compensate for the facility itself. No one wipes off equipment and they do not hire anyone to wipe it like 24 hour did. Equipment breaks regularly and does not get fixed, or breaks so quickly it appears they are not fixed. Pool is gross...just look at the slime and where people stepped...it's pretty bad. Locker room is disgusting and there is mold in the showers, in particular soap dispenser. I also swear this place has bed bugs...brought it to their attention and nothing was done. I would not leave my belongings in the locker room there... BUYER BEWARE.

I am not that picky, but this place is filthy. I normally go to 145th and Maple. Love it there! But I was in the area and wanted to check out their bigger pool and use the hot tub. The pool area was pretty clean. But the maintenance guy walked right past a snot rag in the water fountain. The parking lot looks like a war zone. It smelled like sweat and urine at the front door. The women's locker room was dis gust ing so gross. Hair in all the sinks, a tampon on the floor, toilets clogged up, showers inhumane. I camp and I have witnessed many cleaner outhouses than this place. The vent in the handwashing area was so covered in dust it spread several inches out around it on the ceiling... SMH. Corporate needs to check in on this place it is just not right.

Very dirty club. I'm surprised they're asking for reviews. They acquired this location last year and haven't done anything to it, including clean. It's the same equipment and decor as the day it opened almost 20 years ago. There's so much dust everywhere, very poor air circulation, smells like body odor (yes I get that it's a gym, but the air is heavy), the pool area is slimy, the monthly fee is high for all this. BUT I will say the staff is very friendly, albeit new. This location has a long road ahead of it.

I was there today and a man was being harrassed for being muscular. I've been harrassed at several locations for the way I look. This company is operated by young kids. They want to test themselves on you if you're a hard core lifter. If you like lifting weights or your a lifter this isn't the gym for you. It's a undercover planet fitness. But, planet fitness is a nice hangout spot. Doesn't even got that going for it.

Dishonest and fraudulent business practices. When signing up I was told that the membership would be month to month, only to find out that I was apparently locked into a two year membership. Was told that I could cancel at any time with no fees. I went in to speak with the manager, who reached out to corporate to see what he could do because "the old reps used to lie like this all the time", only to be told that corporate told him that they would not waive any fees and would not allow me to cancel. If you really insist on making the mistake of becoming a member here, do not sign any paperwork without reading every line, and DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT THEIR SALES REPS TELL YOU. They also charge a gym enhancement fee of $40 once a year, with no permission or consent. Absolutely awful practices and terrible customer service. On top of everything, this gym is dirty and definitely not using my $40 to actually enhance or improve the gym. Half of the equipment is broken.

Good machines.. but Unfortunately the gym has lots of fees and get you wrapped in contracts. I had a bad experience with a billing over charge, i was told my account was closed but then later find out they continued to charge me months after and claimed i never closed it... after 30+ calls to management with no empathy and i ended up paying my bill fees anyways just to get out of it.. it was terrible. I wish I could do 0 stars. I do not recommend this gym. Do not trust them at all.

They will literary rip you off! I sign up during a special for 48 a month! I later changed my form of payment because I was told that it wouldn’t change my payment amount! Come to find out after my payment came out that they were charging me 20 dollars more after only being 48 a month! 2 months later I went to in to cancel my membership because I was leaving the country for three months for school. Lady told me that everything was going to be taken out of my last bill including canceling fees and monthly bill! Three months later I am getting a letter that I’m being sent to collections because I’m past due! Lady never submit it my paper work so now I had to pay 300 in late fees! And 275.00 to cancel my membership! Who charges 275.00 to cancel a fee! Most gyms only charge 50-75 to cancel! They are really money hungry! I had sign up for a month to month bbecause it’s what I was told! Nope they will sign you up for a 30 month contract and never mention such a high cancellation fee!

Great chain of Gyms in Omaha. I use the Cass St gym over my lunch hour to run the Keystone trail, when I lived in Millard the F-St Gym for Zorenski, now in Papillion I use the Shadow Lake Gym for the lake trail when my wife and friends are using the equipment and the Tara Plz for the Hunters Crossing trail while my wife is doing Zumba.

I had complained numerous times about the ladies locker room and nothing was done about it UNTIL I took a picture of what I had been telling them about for 4 days in a row. After that the next day that o e shower was cleaned. Guess I should have taken a picture of the entire locker room. However I didn’t want the ladies in there thinking I was being weird.

They have been calling me two times in a row around 6 times a day for payment even though they have my card on file, then then go and charge my old card on file for my monthly premium. This has been going on for MONTHS! They harass me non stop every day and I have responded to them many times to stop. The fitness center has gone downhill due to lack of care. I had come in last year to sign up for a monthly membership (which I had always done) and was conned into a one year membership. Everything the salesman and I talked about was for a monthly membership and I didn't find out about this until I went to cancel. Please be ware when considering this gym, I had been going here on and off happily since 2009 and they have now forever lost my business.

My wife cancelled her membership right after Genesis took over the club from 24 Hour Fitness over 2 years ago. She gave 30 days notice and paid for the month she was on and the following month per the agreement. We are now getting a bill from Genesis saying she still owes them money almost 3 years after the cancellation. No one from the corporate office will call her back and they are looking to send it to collections even though we don't owe them money. The membership fees were automatically drafted from our checking account so it's not like they didn't have access to the funds when the membership was active. This company is very unprofessional, disorganized, and trying to extort money from us. Consumers beware! Go to a different gym. No one needs this headache from these idiots.

I bought a day pass one time to go to the gym with a friend, because my gym was closed for the day, over a month ago and I still get harassed at least once a week w/ texts and calls about getting a membership there. Even after I've (nicely) explained to them several times that I'm locked into a contract with another gym for at least 6 more months and was simply just going to the gym with a friend that one day. My boyfriend is a paying member there and still gets constantly called and texted by "James" about signing up for personal training sessions he has no interest in. They just want your money and will harass you until they get it.

Everything about this gym is dirty. Bathrooms, locker rooms, kids club, workout area, cycling room, pool. You name it and its dirty. It will never change either. Several staff members have told me its getting revamped and nothing has changed. This location is bound to fail just like the 120th and blondo location. A sewer smell is in every bathroom of every kids club too. Trust me, ive been to them all. Disgusting.

I normally have enjoyed my membership with Genesis the friendly staff and access with equipment that other gyms locally don’t have. Today I stopped by Genesis with my friend to use the sauna as I do regularly because when I signed up in February I got a buddy pass. Franklin who was working at the front desk stopped me abruptly with attitude asking me who my friend. We politely told him that she was my guest on my buddy pass. He responded no you need to come over here first. He then stated that I don’t have a buddy pass on my account. I have been a member since February of this year and have had no issues since I’ve signed up. I told him it must be a misunderstanding we frequent the gym often and I have the pass. He was argumentative and rude stating that other people may let us walk by but he “does his job” and makes sure only members get in the gym. Though the mistake is not my fault but the gyms he refused to let us in and told me to come back Monday to speak to management. In my experience when a company makes a mistake you take ownership and sort it out. With two people being in the gym you would think it’s best to service your member. If Genesis wants to continue to have my business I would suggest not having employees like Franklin.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. The manager Scott lied about the membership we signed up for telling us it was a month to month contract when in fact he signed us up for a 3 year contract. When we called him out on this he said he downgraded our membership to month to month and even signed a letter stating we should not have been charged for last month and our membership is cancelled. Checking my credit card charges I noticed they still charged us for the last two months. Apparently the manager Scott did not have the power to right this wrong and Genesis HQ won't let us cancel our membership until we pay $100. On top of that every person we have talked to over the phone has been extremely rude and unprofessional. This gym is easily the biggest scam I have ever had the misfortune to come across. I can't stress to you enough to stay far far away!

I was looking forward to trying all of GHC's group classes during their "free weeklong trial" before making a decision whether or not to subscribe to this gym. Before I had even had a chance to try more than 2 of their classes the sales associate informed me that his manager was "switching things up" and that if I wanted to continue trying the classes out I would have to pay upon my next visit. Very unprofessional. Very false advertising. Won't be coming back or considering subscribing anymore...

I like that this gym is open 24 hrs. The front desk employees and some fellow members playing basketball helped me one day when I wanted to use the TRX straps that needed to be set up. They were very helpful in doing that for me. It feels like a smaller gym, but it's nice because it's not very busy so you don't feel like it's crowded at all. I liked how the soft weighted balls were accessible to all members and not just those members who have a personal trainer, which I do have. Some of the kid's club staff came from Northpark that my son loves as well.

Can't stand the management at this place. My son joined 10 months ago. Shortly after, he developed a medical condition and has never worked out here. The refuse to cancel his membership without a huge fee. I've been paying his monthly fees to keep his credit clean only to find out the person signed him to a 30 month contract. He's had 2 surgeries and is preparing for a 3rd and will not be able to to work out for as long as he has this contract. Thanks for adding to his pain Genesis!

The place is very dirty to begin with. I was working out the other day and a machine would not work so I went and tried a different one and had the same result. Needless to say I walked out of the gym frustrated that I pay a monthly fee to not be able to complete my workout because of faulty equipment.

I would give negative stars if i could. Legit the worst gym I have ever stepped foot in. Do not waste your money on this place. You are nothing but someone to help pay their bills. Once you sign up they are done helping you because now they get your money every month even if you’re not happy. I was a member at this location 5 years ago, when it was 24 hr fitness. I joined Genesis recently because I like the many different locations they had which were the old 24hr. Staff was great and energetic wanting to get to work right away. It's just strange all the equipment is the same and in the same location it was 5 years ago. I went to other locations and all of there equipment is in the same location.

I absolutely love this place! Facility is always clean and everyone there is so nice. I feel like they truly care about your health and goals. I have the pleasure of having DeeAnn as my personal trainer and she is amazing! I feel so comfortable with her and she is very knowledgeable! I love that I can take my son to Kids Club. I have gone to a zumba class and cannot wait to go again!

The club has gone downhill since genesis took over. They haven't done well maintaining the equipment or keeping the place spick and span. They have not replaced simple popular equipment accessories, e.g. triceps push down ropes, weight clips, ect. Most machine weight pins are broken and a significant portion have been replaced with screws. Machine weight labels have been scraped off and not replaced. Towel dispensers tend to be empty. Genesis promised wifi and towels ten months ago and has made no steps to fulfill those promises, despite the increased prices. Genesis has also closed a local and useful facility (120th and Blondo).

Great place to work out any time of day. Has all the extras like sauna, steam room, pool, hot tub and studio classes. Not too crowded during peak hours. I personally had a great experience with the merge from 24 hour/Genesis and didn't have any issues.

This is the first gym I have been to and I am very disappointed in the cleanliness. Being clean is the most important thing for a business to succeed. The lockers rooms are incredibly disgusting, there is wades of hair in the sinks, the floors are so disgusting and dirty I don't even want to shower there. The steam rooms are disgusting and I can not relax because the sitting areas are filthy and again the floors are the same. The pool area is not clean and the walls are stained with dirt. The locker rooms, the pool area and the stream rooms look like they have never been cleaned. The ceiling in the pool area drips water and the ceiling is rusty everywhere which means the water that is being dripped down goes into the pool where I swim. The work out area is fine and I can accept that, but the the dirtiness is a huge turn off and I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone. I am stuck with a contract so I have to enjoy my stay until then which is disappointing. Please clean the locker rooms and pool area and please update the pool area and locker rooms.

I tried to cancel my membership more than 6 months ago...they refused to do so & kept billing my card. I had to cancel my debit card and get an entirely new card with new numbers. Now they're sending paper bills and harassing phone calls. Should have known this wasn't a legit company when they couldn't afford to paint over the 24 Hour Fitness lettering before slapping their name up on the building!

Can't say that I'm overly excited about the gym. I move to NorthPark and they closed. I'm at Westroads now just started to get adjusted. Genesis still has some big improvement to make to win me over.

My contract came to the end of the full yr. So I called bc I stopped using this gym for several reasons, I even stopped seeing my trainer I paid extra for. But anyways I kept paying anyways waiting for it to finally end . So I call and there was apparently confusion over the phone. I thought it was canceled. Well come to find out it isnt cancled bc I have to sign papers but over the phone said i was good and nothing needed. So I have called 5 damn times and they keep saying manager busy but they will call. Well guess what. STILL NO CALL! I have 5 kids and work 2 jobs. I cant just come down there anytime. So I keep getting charged!!!!!!! Worse gym ever. Worse service ever. Just all in all horrible !

Since Genesis took over, the gym is dirty, the bathrooms smell. The window and mirrors are dirty. I have stopped going and am debating on canceling my membership. The clients they are bringing in has drastically changed as well and not for the good.

144th & F location, Its getting worse. The body builder wanna be's drag these king size workout bags around and throw them down in front of equipment then walk off to have a bromance or text on their phone for 20 minutes, while other paying members have to sit and wait for a piece of equipment. Like 1 of only 2 two flat benches. Or 1 of only two leg extensions, as 1 is broken. Or the only smith rack because some lunk is doing shoulder shrugs or arm curls in it, then has to have his or her 30 minute bromance while others wait. Why does Genesis allow gym bags on the floor? It's ridiculous that the paying members who go there to get a workout have to put up with these meat heads and the staff just lets it happen.

The only reason I'm rating this location at a 2 is for the staff. Katie L (Zumba instructor) is the ONLY reason I come to this location. She is AMAZING at what she does. She is energetic, enthusiastic, and gives a GREAT workout every time. This is where the positive ends. The facility does not seem to be kept up very well. The group exercise class room has been miserably hot and humid for the last couple of months. Some might say that this is from working out and sweating, but EVERY OTHER location I've done a class at does not have this problem. The humidity also makes the floor sticky in spots and slippery in other spots causing serious safety concerns as well. The entire facility felt hot and humid upon entering today to the point where I asked staff if the AC is working. The response I got was not satisfactory asking "don't you want to sweat when you work out?" The answer is yes, but I want to sweat BECAUSE, I work out not because the building is humid. If I wanted to work out in heat and humidity, I live in Nebraska and can work out outside. People join gyms to work out in a climate controlled environment... The recent change in management has been an improvement, but if Katie wasn't at 144th street location, I wouldn't be either. This needs to be addressed.

Dirty, not well kept. Was purchased by Genesis (was 24 hour fitness) and the place continues to deteriorate. Mold around the shower soap dispensers, swimming pool has things floating in it, lifting equipment has layers of grime and are rarely cleaned, cardio equipment (specifically the treadmills) don't work well. I've written to their corporate office twice asking what's going on and whether there are plans to remodel. No responses received. Regretfully, I do not plan to renew my membership in a couple months. 4/13/17 UPDATE: 3/20/17 received a response email from one of the facility's employees that they've escalated and hygiene concerns will be addressed starting that evening. It's been almost a month now and I've seen no improvement. The place is so in shambles - I mean there's literally a piece of wood that has been spray painted silver and screwed in to the wall to look like a metal towel rack by the spa. Who are they trying to fool? I am disappointed because I truly want to be a member of this gym but can't get past how much they just don't care about the patron's experience. 8/4/17 UPDATE: I'm being hassled and Genesis is lying and taking money from me. To summarize a story that just keeps getting longer, someone from Genesis called me June 26 to tell me my contract has expired and wanted to get me to extend the contract. I said no and that I wanted it to lapse/cancel. He said ok and that it is now cancelled. Two months later I find out I am still being charged ($32.09/mo, for those of you that care). Apparently the guy I talked to did not log in their system that the call happened and that I wanted to cancel. Further, he did not inform me that I needed to come in and file a cancellation form. After speaking to Genesis, they basically are calling me a liar (since the June 26 call is not logged in their system). They are not giving me the benefit of the doubt and will not refund me the amounts they have charged since I verbally informed of my desire to lapse/cancel. If they don't have a record of the call happening at that time, then how can they explain that my phone shows an incoming call record from them 6/26/17 at 5:43 pm? Regardless of this frustrating situation, if the company cared about the customer experience, they would make this right even if there is no entry in their system of the conversation. It continues to be obvious that joining Genesis in the first place was a terrible decision.

Decent enough equipment for a work out. No individual tv's on the cardio equipment, so your usually forced to watch Fox News on at least 2 of the 6 available TV sets all of the time. But the hours (24) are really convenient.

I'm locked into a contract, very low price but I still can't stand this place. I went to the gym today 3/25/17. I did about 35 minutes of cardio. When I started there was no paper towels located next to the stairmaster to clean the equipment. I did my workout and no paper towels still, I walked across the gym and got my cleaning products. The employees are worthless! I see Walmart greeters work harder than their employees do. At least their not on their phones ignoring everyone else. After more than an hour no one checked the paper towels. I'm a manager of more than 25 employees and can see their manager is completely worthless at motivating employees. I almost snapped a photo of two "employees" standing around drinking energy drinks for over 5 minutes. It upsets me that this goes unnoticed by management and these worthless employees can't clean or do anything to make this club better. This place needs a management to come in and clean house.

I am locked into a contract with this gym and wish that I could say my experience is better. The place is dirty. I think the gym workers need to go around and actively sanitize the equipment! The equipment is old and needs to be updated. When things break they don't replace it. The rope attachment for the cable machine broke a while back and it still hasn't been replaced. I have spoken to the front desk personnel a few times about equipment and nothing seems to ever happen.

Do not sign a contract before taking it home and reading it first. There are lots of pitfalls and hidden clauses that aren't disclosed during your initial consultation. The cancellation fee is very steep. If you can cancel at all. They will require you to bring in your bank information or be charged near 10 dollars per transaction to process your payment if you use a credit card. . In the event of moving such as in my case. They will make it very difficult to cancel your membership. The contracts are way over done and one should think twice mabe 3 times before entering into one. It's best to take your contract home and spend time reading it. A second set of eyes would not hurt. This gym is all about the money. Bring a friend to help you make your decision because this gym contract is a major purchasing decision...

Overall it has been a great experience since the transition from 24 hr fitness. I feel like the employees are way better than they were when it was 24 hr fitness. I didn't think it would be possible to go from feeling like I could have left a five star review at the time of cancelling my membership to a one star, five months after cancelling. But here we are. If you plan on cancelling, make sure you get it in writing about three different ways that your billing information, specifically your debit/credit card, will be removed from the system. After cancelling in July (and needing to pay for August due to late notice, which that was fine), I was charged in September. Called to let them know and they were nice, handled my request for a refund and said they would fix the issue. Then this morning, I look and I have been charged. Not only was I never refunded (which is odd, because I had remembered seeing a credit. Possible user error there), but I have then been charged for the next two months. I SIGNED A CANCELLATION FORM. INSIDE THE GYM. Long story short. Find a better gym. Never go here. You'll sign up and then never be able to leave. EDIT: Added a star for Brittany at the front. Was super helpful. Gym still awful.

Gym was ok, seemed new. My problem was my GF and I signed up for the Gym then that GF ended up stealing all my money and all my cards bounced. My bill racked up cause i couldn't pay and i had to leave the state to restart my life and i get charged for many months. When i tried to explain to the staff my troubles of not being in the same state and getting screwed. I got no sympathy from management they sent debt collectors instead.. absolute terrible company , you want a staff that cares about you and your life and if it gets tanked that they will help you. DO NOT GO HERE.

I gave this gym three stars and have changed my review. At first I loved this gym but noticed my billing was incorrect. I went to inquire about the increase in my bill to find out that I was in a contract of 36 months which I never would of agreed to knowing we might not live here that long. To say I was pissed was an understatement but I decided to go in and talk to the manager about what happened. Scott was really nice about it and has taken steps to get this corrected. So now I’m somewhere in between on my rating. The gym is decent (I hear it’s getting remodeled), manager is nice, but there is an employee that is signing people up for long term contracts without you knowing. Make sure you print out and read the contract or turn the computer and read the whole thing while you’re there.
