I joined Montana Mixed Martial Arts without knowing anyone at the gym, with very little boxing/ju jitsu/mma skills, and I'm a woman. As you can imagine, making the decision to join was a bit intimidating at first. That said, Montana MMA, is everything I could have hoped for.
First of all, as a newbie, no one was rude or condescending to me, instructors and other gym goers alike. Everyone I trained with was more than happy to help me when I needed it, and people often took time away from what they were doing to help me. As a female, I never felt uncomfortable or out of place. Most of the instructors and other gym goers seemed excited to meet a new female student who wanted to learn. On top of that, all the other female gym members were nothing but encouraging and welcoming.
In addition to a positive training environment, Montana MMA is worth your money. There are other gyms in town that do a bit of boxing training, but often you'll have to pay for private lessons. Montana MMA is a flat monthly fee for all offered classes. You can attend MMA, kick boxing, ju jitsu, and judo classes as many times a month as you want without having to pay additional fees. If you're looking to get exposed to any of the above types of training, Montana MMA is the place in Bozeman to do it. The classes are focused on skills rather than 'cardio', so there is a big difference between a standard gym's kick boxing cardio class and a Montana MMA kick boxing class. You actually want to learn to kick box? Go to Montana MMA, don't worry, the cardio will be taken care of.
Over all, I can't recommend Montana MMA enough. Classes are offered nearly every day, and the people you'll train with will create a positive training environment. If you're looking to get in shape or learn a new skill, Montana MMA is the place to do it, and it won't break the bank.
