I have been a 9Round member at a different location and LOVED it. This loacation, along with the 2 Lees Summit locations, is lacking in customer service, transparency, and quality.
My girlfriend and I bought into the “free” six week program they advertised. We were foolish for doing this and things went downhill quickly.
First, they claim to have a nutrition plan that “works”. Yes, because you are lacking nutrition. It is in no way sustainable and they don’t share the plan with you until you sign up.
They base the program off a scale—a full body measurement service. However, it was brought to our attention later that these scales are banned by corporate. Sounds super shady.
A large number of the trainers are more interested in their phones than their job. We reached out to the owner several times about this. His response was to tell us times the “good” trainers were working. At my previous gym, they taught you how to punch/kick and how to actually box. It was a well-rounded experience. At this gym, I had a trainer tell me “don’t do that” when I expressed I felt I was kicking incorrectly.
Lastly, this gym’s membership is double what my other gym charged.
I will say, to be fair, that after all of my complaints, they did refund us half of the $600 per person that we signed up for (but not the additional $100 person for “signing up”). I honestly believe we should have been fully refunded but, to their credit, we didn’t have to fight for the partial refund.
One last super creepy, weird, possibly illegal: the owner apparently is also a realtor and we are now receiving emails from that part of his business. Not cool.
I recommend 9Round but NOT with this owner.
