It's a good powerhouse

The Gym is still seemingly geared toward Bodybuilding as opposed to overall fitness. The equipment is a little dated. I would like to see fitness peices like warrior ropes, kettle bells, half swiss balls, and row machines added to the facility replacing some of the redundant weight machines that take up entirely too much space. What I do appreciate is the history behind the gym, it being local, and a community staple for 40+ years. The intensity in the gym is motivating as well.

Place is ok. No membership required which is a plus. The equipment is a bit outdated and the facilities could be kept cleaner. Also it gets a little loud sometimes.

This gym is a really exceptional one not only because of its vast types of equipment but also because of its affordable pricing and atmosphere. Some of equipment like the cable crossover machine does need repairs but other than that, great gym.

Good enough to get the job done. Is everything bright and shiny and new like Planet Fitness, hell no but nor is it suppose to be. You do not come to the Powerhouse gym for all of that, you come to get a good workout in and that's what happens at this gym people are working out and getting fit. There are not a lot of cardio machines and they do not have the newest most updated equipment but if you want to strength train or get in some basic cardio this place will do. The price is affordable almost $40 for one month $100 for 3 months so...

Ladies restroom always filthy... Exercise room needs to be shut down, floor thoroughly cleaned. It needs to be buffed and mopped. Same trash for days before its gone.Use some airfreshners. I know its a gym but come on Febreze is inexpensive. I will say this....Staff is very nice and personable. Maybe hiring a professional cleaning crew would be idea. Its a historic gym, treat as such.

I visited this gym every morning for 4 days while in Detroit for business a month or two ago... Definitely worth the price of the 7-day pass. I wish more gyms offered a full offering of weight training equipment. People come ready to train and that motivation rubbed off on me and I was able to get some solid workouts in as a result. Staff and other members were all genuinely interested in fitness and training. It could use some new bikes and dumbbells... but that was the only negative observation. This is a traditional gym with lots of weight training equipment... it doesn't pretend to cater to the cross-fit crowd. That's probably a good thing from looking at all the cross-fit fail videos on YouTube. I'll be back the next time I'm working in the area.

Great place to workout! Plenty of weight, rarely will you need to wait to use equipment. This gym has the kind of atmosphere Planet Fitnesses advertises but fails to achieve. Truly a "no judgment" zone. Whether you are totally out of shape and taking the first step towards fitness or you are a bodybuilder or powerlifter who needs do 1/2 a ton on the leg press you'll fit in. I love the fact that if a person lifts a lot of weight, it doesn't look like they're hogging all the plates, nor does it draw attention of other members because they see little weight and big weight pushed all the time. Finally, it is worth mentioning this is not a gym to find a date. Men & women come here to workout and leave their make-up and dress to impress clothes at home.

I Challenge

I expected way less before entering the gym. I'm thinking it's probably run down and battered equipment. It's actually a damn good gym. The Equipment is perfect for what I need. I was the type to say I could save a lot of money training in my own basement. But I didn't get any solid results. At $39 for one month I said bet it up, I'll give it a try. My first day at powerhouse I targeted areas I haven't felt since high school. i can feel my six pack again. Women exercising does help give extra motivation as well. And every man knows there's nothing sexier than women busting squats. I just keep quiet and stay my distance. Looking good girl.

Majority of the gym is good, but I’d like to see some improvement. To name a few, we have the The out of order equipment, bathroom stall that has been out of order for months, the gym feels dirty at times, the weights are out of order/disorganized. Gym could be a great place, but there are some things that are much better at different facilities.
