Best gym ever. For one, they know me by name and they are ALWAYS friendly. The security and front desk staff make a point to say hello and goodbye whenever I visit. Their personal trainers are always willing to answer questions or provide instruction. The equipment is well maintained and extensive. My favorite is the steam room and sauna.

I've been a member since 1995. Since that time all sorts of reasons let me know why I have continued my membership. The latest reason is, I left my cell phone on the water faucet after a long hard workout. I didn't know my phone was missing until I was fully dressed in my car one late evening on 4/5/2016. After back tracking all my steps except the water fountain, I left from home thinking my phone was stolen. Only to find out, my phone was picked up by one of the members and it was handed over to to an attendant, who placed the phone in a safe place until the owner (myself) requested it's whereabouts. I may add, that same day I forgot to lock up my belongs. When I returned 1/ 1/2 hour later, nothing was bothered in my unlocked storage. This is the type of atmosphere most people desire when being in any public place. They want complete safety. We have this at Fitness/Works in Midtown Detroit, as stated, an important part of my membership.

Love it. I just joined and I'm really happy to see the place isn't over booked like so many fitness clubs can be. My choices were limited because I need a place midtown or downtown with a running track and a pool. Fitnessworks has both, though the pool is small and the water is really too warm to be ideal - but that is a minor quibble. I go during peak hours and so far no trouble getting a lane or being able to use any other equipment I want. The locker rooms and showers are very nice. Sauna and steam rooms clean and well-maintained. There is quite a clubby feel about the place. Many of the regulars have been coming for years and years.

You definitely get the best bang for your buck. Hot steam room, dry sauna, towels, toiletries ad classes including spin included in the price. Zumba, pilates and yoga. Love love my gym and trainers. It is ever so clean.

Dirty pool, a general lack of cleanliness in the weight section, outdated equipment/furnishings (carpet in a gym/locker room?), a whole section of equipment members can't use. To be noted, I've also been catcalled, stared at, and had disrespectful things said to me more at this gym than any other I've been to in Detroit. On the plus side, the staff is incredibly nice.

I'm a big fan of FitnessWorks. It's relatively cheap and usually not too busy. One thing I will say, though, is that the classes aren't always predictable.

Absolutely horrible experience. I called in advance the day before to confirm that I could pay for a guest pass to use their facilities. Of course, over the phone they agree, quote me the price, and on the day of, they say, nope, can't do it because no manager is around? He was not willing to contact his manager, and didn't even attempt to come up with a solution. I understand there are limits to your abilities as an employee, but contacting your manager, or the company having a contactable manager in the first place should be readily available. I was super excited to find a gym that could possibly have a squash court, and because of this experience, I will have to find another one. Hopefully, everyone else has a better experience.

Two years after extensive complaining about degrading men's locker room still a substandard mess. Now the sauna door falling apart, and it is duck taped FROM Interior together releasing toxic fumes. After complaining, duck tape removed leaving thick adhesive around door that melts releasing fumes. This is a health club? So many other disgusting things because no maintance but sky high membership fees.

I had the worst experience with this gym. At first I tried to know the rates from their website, it directed me to getting in contact via email with one of their representatives. We agreed on appointment to give me a tour and tell me about this month special as stated in the email. The representative’s name was Jacquetta, when I arrived she had an attitude and she wasn’t friendly at all, then she told me we only have one year subscription.. why you are here? Are you visiting? I told her yes I just need one month, she replied: “only annual” ok how much? “588” she was very rude and her way was so disrespectful I don’t know why. Then she asked me where are you working? I told her I work in WSU, she responded by they have a gym there you go there better for you! What a salesperson says that? I really hated how rude and professional she was and this review won’t hurt them much, because apprantley they don’t need new clients. 1 star is too much for them.

I LOVE THIS GYM. There are so many activities here: Zumba, Yoga, Cycling, High Intensive Interval training, there's a track, there's a basketball gym, weight lifting, a boot camp on Saturdays, a swimming pool, etc. They even have personal trainers available... It's everything that you can ever want from a gym.... All for one set price, does not include personal trainer in the set price. They always have clean towels. The women's locker room keeps shampoo, soap, and some great smelling lotion.... You need to join today. What are you waiting on?

I love this gym. So much to do and offer. I have fun with my friends. We invite friends for a guest pass and they also enjoy it on the first day. It would be nice of the fee allowed two. Kinda like planet fitness does. I want to try many more classes but until then I enjoy Randy's step class and the Zumba class. Enjoy the pool, sauna and steam room and plan to soon play racquetball. So much to do and offer!
