Short version: Trainers pay excellent attention to form. They offer 30- and 60-minute personal training sessions. Open 24 hours with access card. Owners are friendly, upfront about costs, and flexible.
Longer version: Realistic Fitness (RF) offers 30-min personal training sessions (in addition to 60-min sessions), which makes it easy to squeeze in a session during a lunch break. I was concerned that 30 minutes wouldn’t be as effective as the 60-min sessions I had elsewhere in the past, but my RF trainer (Paula) is extremely good at paying attention to form and making adjustments. After working with her for just a few months, I’m really seeing a transformation in my muscles. I like the ‘shape’ of them better now than the way they looked when I’ve been fit in the past.
In addition to paying attention to form, Paula does not have me perform exercises that are hard on my joints. I’ve done workouts at other gyms that were full of burpees and box jumps and intense drills that were undeniably effective in some ways, yet feel risky on my joints. My workouts at RF feel safer for my overall health; and based on the way my muscles are transforming, they’re actually MORE effective.
Lastly, they really set you up for success on your own. Paula teaches me how to do the workouts so that when I come in a third day per week on my own, I have a plan and feel comfortable with the equipment. When my schedule recently changed, I thought about changing from 30-min to 60-min sessions. I discussed it with Paula and she said that with the results I was getting, I could stick with 30 minutes as long as I kept coming in a third day per week on my own. It’s refreshing to feel as if business owners are actually looking out for you (your health and even your wallet) instead of just trying to make more money.
In sum, I’m very happy with my membership here—particularly because of the high quality personal training.
