They come off as super nice and helpful. I was new to the area and didn’t know much about the company so I went to tour the facility with Derick. At the end we sat down and discussed membership options and I decided that a year membership would be good for me. Long story short, I called because I wanted to know about a charge I had gotten, only to find out that Derick signed me up for a 3 year contract! I know I specifically asked for a one year contract because I didn’t plan on living in Wichita longer than a year. People warned me after the fact that genius will screw people over into singing contracts they didn’t ask for! And when I called to have it fixed, they wouldn’t help me or even return my phones calls so I could know my options. You shouldn’t lie to people just to make a sale! Because they get paid for the number of people they get to sign up! I’m very upset! DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM! And if you do... don’t trust that they are having you sign what you agreed upon because they are liers!! Well, Derrick (or Chris, that’s what he goes by now I guess) is a lier.

All evening aqua classes are GREAT!! Pool area needs work to close off MAJOR outside drafts causing it to be very uncomfortable to do a quality work out.

When I have time to go and get a workout, it been good experience but sometimes I am unable to have my daughter be with me outside the family time they have set up. Need to find ways to incorporate children into the workouts so there is motivation going for parents. Childcare is bit too expensive on top of what is paid monthly.

I love my gym! They have the best group fitness classes in town! The instructors are highly motivating and encouraging. The equipment is top of the line! My only complaint is that the facilities sometimes need maintenance, or fixing, and that doesn't always happen in a timely manner, if ever.

The facilities are great. Most faculty members are nice in passing. I have no problem with Genesis besides the sales representatives who lie about the contract they're giving you. I initially signed a one-year contract last February. I went in to sign the paperwork to end my contract beforehand, so I wouldn't get charged monthly afterwards. I learned that the original sales rep. lied about my contract. When I called the original Genesis, another sales rep. said the "deal" the rep gave me was a "free six months off of a two year contract, so then things are prorated into my monthly payments." I am baffled that the rep lied about my contract. BEWARE: I signed my contract online. If you decide to get a membership here, ask your sales rep to write things down on paper for you before signing anything electronically. Also, they don't send you any paperwork unless you ask. The lady working on the east side that I initially talked to said that this sales rep. lied about her contract as well when she signed hers. Hope the rest of the sales reps aren't liars as well.

Got to say due to a misunderstanding with something and for how my attitude was I got to say Julian and Ashlee H were awesome. Julian explained everything to me and clarified everything. And Ashlee understood why I was upset and when I apologized she was very understanding kept her smile on her face and was a trooper through it all too.

A couple years ago I entered Genesis initial Biggest Looser Contest. Although I didn't win the contest, I learned the value of having a workout buddy (or buddies) that keep me motivated. Every morning around 4:30-4:40am, my lady friends and I meet up at West Central and push each other. We do a variety of exercise including with weights, the machines, swimming and we even go outside and "turn over the big tires". There are mornings one (or more) of us don't really want to get up and come in to the Gym, but we do it anyway because we know our buddy is going to be there waiting on us. None of us like to work out alone - so we have each other. Thank you Genesis for providing a convenient place for us to come. You have been my 6 days a week place to be for over 15 years. Kameron is the "guy" at the front desk at 4:30am to greet us and welcome us to the club. He is great; always has a smile and although we know he's been there all night (and will be leaving about the same time we ladies are leaving at 6am) he gives us even more reasons to want to come in and work out every day. Thank you Kameron.

I really like this gym. The option of child care is what made me choose Genesis. Very convenient for a mom with two little ones! I love the option of group classes and personal training. The staff is very friendly. My only complaints would be that the membership price is pretty steep and nobody pays the same price and maintenance of the equipment is lacking.

I am soooooo sick and tired of the lockers not being available to club members because people are locking up the lockers so no one else can get in to use! This happens all to frequently! This morning I arrived and was the only member present at the facility. This was around 3:30 am. When I went to the locker I normally use, it was locked. I looked around and there were 23/25 lockers locked in that particular pod! Unbelievable! I notified the attendant, but he could Not find key to open locker. I had to go to a completely different section to find an open locker. This has gone on far to long! Needs to be addressed immediately! On another occasion, Cameron started opening all lockers that should not have been locked. There was a locker there in particular that the member had constructed a second home! I kid you not! Please have someone enforce this so all lockers that s/b available to members, are indeed available. At Anytime Fitness, they would actually take metal snips and cut in half the lock that the member had left on there overnight. That's not possible here, but at least have someone check and unlock the lockers that are just sitting there to be used by only one person and no one else.

Andrew Held and his team of trainers do a great job engaging club members in their personal fitness journey. Some gyms are only focused on signing up endless numbers of members with the hopes that they will pay dues and rarely frequent their establishments. Not Genesis! The training staff and fitness instructors work hard to engage members and help them achieve fitness goals... And keep them active and coming back! Even with this goal of maintaining high levels of utilization, I have never had to wait for a piece of equipment or fight for weights (unlike past experiences at other gyms.)

EDIT - Jose from the corporate office was able to assist in the matter, i'm walking away from this experience with less frustration solely because of his help, however the other lady I talked to on the phone still was one of the worst parts of this experience. if you want to cancel your membership they will forgot to inform you that you need to show up in person to sign a 30 day cancellation notice. My old gym got bought out by them and when I talked to them in May i told them i didn't want to continue when my contract was done. not once was i told i had to come in and sign a piece of paper for a 30 day cancellation. they charged me the next month after the old contract was done and refuse to give a refund citing "policy" because they know they need to grab every dollar they possibly can from people who never wanted to use them as a gym in the first place. absolutely pathetic and I will ALWAYS refer people to any other gym before this money grabber.

I have been a member for more than 25 years. I really enjoy the West Central Genesis. The staff is super-friendly and the locker rooms have been updated in the last few years, so it's very clean and easy to use, with keyless locks. I use the elliptical machines, which are PreCor and well maintained (most of the time!). They just got all new weight machines (Hoist) which are really nice, and have plenty of free weights and all the new gadgets like kettlebells too. I would highly recommend this club!

This is my favorite club to workout at! All of the Genesis locations are great, but this one has the most equipment available out of the locations in my area of town. Besides top-notch weight room equipment, they have a basketball court, indoor Olympic size pool, tennis courts, an excellent nursery, and more. They have great group fitness classes, including classes that are fun for the kids!

There are a lot of things to complain about at each Genesis location (broken machines, lack of towels, a million staff members and none willing to help/greet you), but I will say that the Group Ride classes here are the absolute best. Each instructor is fantastic.

Coach Regis Fox is a great tennis instructor! He's polite, consistent, professional and very motivational with his students. Facility is large, with many choices for equipment. Parking lot is huge, plenty of routes in/out.

So I have been a member of Genesis for 22 years. Yes 42$ a month for 22 years. They have the audacity to charge me $1 for an empty cup and then none of the TVs work which are actually part of the membership. Then they say that they'll be worked on in a couple of days. They have been half working for a year. Feed someone else that line of..... it's time for them to compensate us for the constant headache.

It is different from other genesis. This one has educated trainers who are knowledgeable and care about their clients. It has a very welcoming atmosphere and no matter who you are you can go there and do what you joined the gym to do. Stay in good health or push your body. My trainer is josh! You should ask for him! He knows almost everything and tailors your training to what your goal is.

Staff are horrible. They never smile, flirt with all of the men there. But it isn't just the register, it extends far beyond them. You see, every employee there is a stuck-up, arrogant, disrespectful, and they only care about your money. I have no doubt that every positive review is from a wealthy family. Love the aquatics classes! Because water is denser than air, you get a more intensive workout with less wear and tear on your joints. Sharlie's Aqua Jam class is a lot of fun!

They called me for a free trial. After antonio showed us around he pretty much pressured us into signing a contract. I never got the free trial and ended up with a contract. After wanting out after a month they said we had to pay soo much money to cancel the contract. Moral of the story, contract is a scam. Don't fall for it. Get yourself a contract free gym so you won't end up spending money you don't have.

I love the atmosphere here because it's never super packed (at least when I typically go) and I never have to wait for a machine. I've really liked yoga and look forward to trying the other classes as there is a variety of times and days to choose from. I never got the training that they said that I will receive for being a member of Genesis Club their trainers want you to work on their schedule time your schedule does not matter the product they sale keep changing with different companies so once you start taking them you cannot continue to take the same product they keep changing companies with different vendors. Unhappy member you supposed to give a 5-star but in order to write something you have to give a star I want to considered Genesis Club to be zero inadequate with reality .

My experience with the club has been wonderful. Everyon has been pretty helpful. Working with Travis as my personal trainer has been the best. I've learned quite a bit not only about programming and the basics to getting fit but I've also learned quite a bit about myself and what I am capable of doing. My only complaint is not everything seems to be working (treadmills specifically) however even on crowded days it doesnt create much of a burden.

They will not give up on you not wanting to join! Initially I should have stuck with my instinct and just blocked their number. I got plenty of calls after I asked them to please not call me anymore.. like a no call list. Finally one of the managers called and asked me to come in. He was very apologetic, and said he had a great deal for me. I go in, and everyone was very nice. Then he convinced me to sign a 6 month contract. Point of matter is the gym sucks, it’s not family friendly, and they double dip bank accounts. If you do sign up use caution when doing “auto draft” from bank account. They will take out more than the contract amount., or at least they have with me. When I call to speak with billing they are super rude, and only care about cash cash cash like a pit bull. I will never ever do business with this company again. Nor will I ever refer people again. I work in healthcare, and many people I associate with have options of joining with their insurance. Like I said, no more referrals. Should have listened to all of the other reviews!!

This is not the main genesis that I go to because I don't live on the west side, but the pickup basketball and friendly staff has me going out of my way to be there. Just like the other Genesis facilities, up to date and maintained very well! Highly recommend checking out any of the facilities!

Club is nice and the staff below management are good. As for the rest I would you suggest you look at every poor review on yelp, google etc and believe them. This company's business practices are despicable. When you join it is high pressure sales. When you want to leave they do everything they can to make that difficult and to keep getting money from you for as long a possible. I called several times over several weeks and was told repeatedly that a manager would call me back. They did not for several weeks and then when I finally spoke to the manager he effectively told me I was a liar when I said that I had called over the previous 2 weeks. When I asked for contact details of the owner, his manager or a complaints dept he flat refused. Mine is not the worst experience I've heard of ......but it was bad enough to make me believe all the others? Avoid this club .....there are plenty of other gyms around that actually care about people and will treat you as a real person.

OR Where can you have a trainer who has rehabilitation training for injury, stroke, disabilities, etc? OR Where can you find a trainer that can train you in the water? Sighs... So, the facility is huge first and foremost. There are so many different things you could do BUT the customer service was what ruined it for me. I was looking for a gym to go to while I'm here temporarily (contract job) and it's literally down the road from me so I thought I'd try the trial and see how the vibe was. I toured the facility and asked for a trial BUT not before I was hounded for how bad my body was. Like, I get it... not everyone as as fit as the trainers but don't make people feel bad for it. You HAVE to meet with a trainer before u work out (which someone may like) but not me. I have feeling hounded. The radio station was there and they were offering a trial 30 day so I asked if I could use that trial and they kinda just laughed and said no. (I asked for a 2wk pass &just never even walked back in) The guy who I spoke with tried to make it seem like he would work with me on the monthly contract thing but I've been down this road before from a prior gym membership elsewhere and yeah no. After reading reviews, I can see why they felt the way they do and I stand behind them. They try to make it look like what they're doing is tailored to you but they hand out these things like candy and get you stuck in it. It feels more of a sales vibe to be honest andIjust wanna to to the gym and be in my own zone when working out . Did I mentioned that they also hound u in calls?.. Sure, it's accountability but dang guys. I'm not even a member and I had to block their number.

I am an athlete and I still get nasty looks from clientele here. Front desk is not very welcoming. They always seem preoccupied. Facilities need some serious updating and building management. Ceiling tiles are stained from leaks and machine sit way too close together. Personal trainers are kind, but need more freedom in their design. Families are not welcomed as there is no place for kids older than 7 to be comfortable or work out. High amounts of revenue come from families! Sales tactics are the worst! Even though Chris is a great guy, the company pushes so hard for their sales that people do not feel it's an organic decision which directly makes a negative impact. Do the research; Pushy sales and locking people into contracts is not the most revenue producing for this industry! Hire some innovative and educated management to increase revenue exponentially with a team model. Genesis could be great with some attention! Go deep, not lean.
