I am so thankful for these reviews. I was seriously getting ready to get in my car and sign a membership contract. After reading all this, it confirmed my slight suspicion about them. I'll just endure all the kids at the YMCA. :-(

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. 9 months ago I had a 45 pound plate fall on my foot because of a broken piece of equipment, I told the manager and they said they would take care of it. Yesterday I had a 35 pound plate fall on my foot from the same broken piece of equipment. They just spent all this money on a worthless remodel but can’t replace that piece of equipment? They could careless about their members. Remind me why I am paying for a premiere membership? Planet fitness is better at this point.

I train with Justin Nix a couple times a week. Nix challenges me with a difficult workout every time, but makes sure I keep good form and avoid injury. Workouts with him are demanding, but at the same time he doesn't make it seem like "work." I came to him to improve my fitness, and he has taken me well beyond my expectations. I look forward to my sessions.

Our experience at Genesis has been morally and emotionally degrading. My husband and I joined genesis health club through a discount we got from my work place. On September 13, 2018, due to personal reasons, we wanted to freeze our membership for 6 months and come back after that. Mitch (the manager at the rock road location) made it look like so simple and told us to sign some papers and said he would take care of it. We were not supposed to pay anything for the first 3 months and pay just $10 a month for the next 3 months, to "keep our account active". On September 15 though our account was charged for full amount. We called and ask if they could process our refund. Mitch said it was a mistake and would correct it for the next month. It has been 3 months and we are still being charged. He is not even willing to talk to us in multiple occasions. He would make an appointment with us and then he never shows up or would tell the receptionists to tell us he is busy. When we call, we will be put on hold for 15-20 minutes just to be told he is busy again. He was unbelievably disrespectful towards us and we wonder what it says about the company. Just because we are from a different country or have an accent doesn’t give him the right to be disrespectful. We have never felt this bad since we came to this country. Honestly, at this point it is not even about the money. We just wanted to be treated with respect. I'm letting my company know to consider their partnership with your facilities. What the staff doing is beyond words could explain!!!

If you want to feel like you're buying a car from a pushy car salesman then this is the place for you! I personally am NOT looking for that type of environment and prefer good customer service over haggling prices & long contracts! My friend and I went in for a tour at the Genesis on Rock Road this morning. We thought the facility & ameninites were very nice. However, when we told the guy that we didn't want to make a commitment today and wanted to go home to think about, his demeanor & attitude changed immediately. He became very stand-offish and rude. He no longer seemed willing to answer any additional questions and told us that if we walk out the door then any prices that he told us would no longer be valid. Really? What a horrible way to operate! Why not have the same prices for everyone and post your prices on your website - so we can avoid the pushy salespeople.

What a joke... we were told my husband could be put on my silver sneakers. We said we would be moving and that don’t want a contract. They said no problem, so we signed the sheet and now there still taking out money and it would cost $100 to stop the contract(for which they said wasn’t a real contract)... it’s the principle of the matter that they can lie straight to your face. Then act as though you are doing something wrong.

The "gentle" yoga classes are wonderful. Genevieve and Beth are very outstanding yoga instructors. I look forward to the M, W and F sessions. Genesis is a great facility with a lot of equipment and wonderful staff. My trainer is amazing and it is clear that he cares about his trainees. The front desk ladies are always welcoming and greet me with a smile.

DECEIVING!!!! I WAS NOT MADE AWARE THAT WHEN YOU SIGN UP YOU ARE SIGNING A 12 MONTH CONTRACT!!! They are very deceiving and good at selling you to become a member by telling you the benefits and discounts they'll offer you WITHOUT verbally letting you know the fine print! Oh and to cancel your membership early you have to pay a $150 dollar fine! This is OUTRAGEOUS!!! There's a reason so many are a membership at the YMCA!

As far as the service goes at genesis, it's great. The trainers are so nice and everyone is inviting. I've never felt intimidated going in there. However, it is an aweful corporation. I got let go from my job a couple months ago and I was trying to cut back expenses quickly. I called genesis to see if there was anything we could do and they told me no. They said that once my bank account overdrafted they could work with me to put me on a payment plan but that would cost me more in overdraft fees. Im writing this because as of this morning, they overdrafted my account once again, costing me another overdraft fee. The trainers might care about you, but the company doesn't.

Excellent facilities, a bit overpriced

I liked that this place is open late and not very busy but i was approached by a rude lady who said she was teaching a swimming class and that i had to get out of the pool!!! I told the manager, he said just swim to the side. Like really! i am the member paying 60$ a month just to use the pool, not the kids. If they were members well i did not read anything that said i could not use the pool because of swimming classes for 12 year olds.

Genesis has the best group classes . I really enjoy their group power and tennis. Their cardio tennis is the best cardio work out in town. Always fun and energetic, before you know it the hour has passed. My kids also enjoy their tennis program.

Average Gym and will work for most individuals to reach their goals, however, most people that train here including the trainers lack the knowledge to pick up their weights when done and re-rack them. Also most trainers here take over multiple pieces of equipment to run circuits on which can be quite rude and not allow work-ins.

I love Genesis. The facilities are always clean, things get fixed quickly, and the staff has always been pleasant. I used to go to the Y, but changed to Genesis last year. It's worth the extra money! The staff knows my name at my regular club and they are always courteous. The 24 hour club on W. Central is nice too. :)

Do not let this club fool you. The facilities and classes may be nice and you may go out your way to their monthly bill but, they are beyond shady in operations! I signed a monthly contract and I am suppose to be able to get out of it once I let them know 30 days in advance. The manager Chris, knew I was moving out of town and he told me he would write it on my contract moving hence the reason I signed the contract. I went in an cancelled a contract not paying much attention to the paper and stated my last bill should be in July right and he said "should be". I get a call today stating I will be billed until October when I am on a monthly contract! The lady said the cancellation sheet I signed said APRIL? Do not let these people fool you they are unprofessional. They would not let their own employees get out of a contract!

Happy to be back! After a long hiatus, I rejoined Genesis when I discovered the ping pong table in the cafe! Bonus to joining are the 4 free personal training sessions, free swim lesson, free tennis lesson, free 360 for 2 months, plus all the classes are included anyway. So glad to be back with familiar faces.. staff are friendly and the food at the cafe is terrific. Added bonus is the Beauty Dot health spa located inside, absolutely beautiful decor and friendly staff. I’ve already reached my weight and endurance goals. The contract is tight, but clear. The low monthly offer is if you set up a direct debit payment plan. Read it carefully and ask questions before signing. I got a free month before my payment plan kicked in, i thought it was clearly presented and worth every penny. Ping pong anyone?

Genesis, former Wichita racquet club, owner Rodney added to the facility with staff and physical improvements that resulted in one of the best health clubs. With indoor tennis cotts, basketball, squash & racquetball courts. Indoor pool, and great physical trainers and work out programs and lots of supporting equipment. It is a facility with programs everyone can enjoy and improve without the use of tax dollars. A refreshing concept in today's society!

I have been through some major crisis in my life when i joined, the staff seen me through my rough patch and helped me find myself again, after almost 2 years i have found them consistently supporting me in my efforts to better myself, during laughter and tears both this establishment has become my rock and home, always friendly and ready to help. EDIT - Jose from the corporate office was able to assist in the matter, i'm walking away from this experience with less frustration solely because of his help, however the other lady I talked to on the phone still was one of the worst parts of this experience. if you want to cancel your membership they will forgot to inform you that you need to show up in person to sign a 30 day cancellation notice. My old gym got bought out by them and when I talked to them in May i told them i didn't want to continue when my contract was done. not once was i told i had to come in and sign a piece of paper for a 30 day cancellation. they charged me the next month after the old contract was done and refuse to give a refund citing "policy" because they know they need to grab every dollar they possibly can from people who never wanted to use them as a gym in the first place. absolutely pathetic and I will ALWAYS refer people to any other gym before this money grabber.

Love my "dates with Dustiny"..ie my trainer Dustin. Very observant and patient but pushes me along. Have lost 30+ pounds and gained a lot of strength. My only dislike of the club is the billing. Still billing me for something I stopped months ago. Getting the manager involved hopefully will stop that monthly charge.

I have been a member since 2011 and would not want to go anywhere else. It is the cleanest, best maintained, best staffed fitness facility in Wichita. Visit inside and you'll see members eagarly starting their day with a 5 am workout with a smile. If a member asks, any employee from the owner to the receptionist will listen to your concerns.

This facility is awesome. Starting from right when you walk in, greeted by the friendly front desk workers. The sales people, trainers, all the staff at genesis are friendly. Mike Flores always has a smile when I see him working and was extremely helpful and knowledgeable in helping me get a membership. Glad I was able to so I can get back in shape.

Been a member for years and while some of the staff is more entertaining than useful I have had tremendous success training with Heather Klaassen. She is very knowledgeable in all things fitness related and has helped correct massive muscle atrophy I have been dealing with my entire life. She is always smiling and motivating. The programs she comes up with aren't always easy but if you can commit and stick with it the results are undeniable. I cannot recommend her enough, no matter what your fitness level is she will find a way to make you better.

The personal training team is extremely knowledgeable and will go above and beyond to help you meet your goals and accommodate your needs. My personal favorite trainer is Dustin Sylvester, but you certainly can't go wrong with any of them!

JOIN GENESIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! When you first visit be aware that their staff will be very pushy. They will certainly hard sell you to get you into a year contract. Be prepared for this before you ever go in. After all, they make their money on the 75% of people who give into the hype, get locked into a year contract, and then never use their services. Once you sign the contract.... it is next to impossible to get out of it and THEY WILL AUTOMATICALLY RENEW THE CONTRACT ONCE YOUR MEMBERSHIP IS UP UNLESS YOU GIVE THEM A WRITTEN NOTICE 30 DAYS IN ADVANCE.THEY WILL ALSO CONTINUE TO DRAFT YOUR BANK ACCOUNT OR CREDIT CARD ON FILE. Make sure you get a copy of the cancellation notice that you submit to them (I would have a staff member sign when it is turned in because they are notorious at "conveniently losing" the forms). IF YOU DO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU GO AHEAD AND SIGN THE CANCELLATION FORM WHEN YOU FIRST JOIN AND HAVE IT TAKE PLACE ON A DATE THAT COINCIDES WITH THE END OF YOUR CONTRACT. Never take a staff person's word if they tell you that nothing needs to be done at the end of your contract. SOME WILL BALD FACED LIE TO YOU ON THIS, and if you later challenge them, these people who were so sweet and supportive when they were trying to get you to join, will suddenly transform into the south end of a north bound mule. If you are planning a visit to Genesis or are thinking about joining, LET THE BUYER BEWARE.

I have belonged to Genesis for 12 years. I train with Dustin Sylvester and he is an amazing trainer. He pushes me beyond what I think I can do. He has made me a better athlete at 57. I do marathons and triathlons and he has helped me with endurance and speed . I do Monday night spin classes with Melissa and she too is amazing . I highly recommend Genesis to anyone looking for a good gym . The staff individualizes your workout to let you achieve the goals you want to reach. .

This review comes with mixed feelings. The trainers are top notch, they know their stuff! The reason for a low rating is the business practices. When you first go they will give you a tour, its great! Then get you to sign up, the scribble some numbers on a paper (like a used car dealer) looks good, give you a diacount cause you work for XYZ. Oh you need a short term contract, no problem... done! Then they pull the printed contract, you sign the dotted line, all goos.. right? For a bit... then rate more than doubles a.couple months down the road?? What?? Not the friendly genesis?? Must be a mistake... you call.. Well you signed a admentment upon signing up! Take you time, read the fine print!!!!! Genesis is the used car lot of health clubs. Fooled me, learn from my mistake and dont make your own!

Instead of just bashing Genesis, though I am credible to so, I decided to do a SWOT analysis of the gym to give potential customers insight before they sign a contract from hell, and give Genesis genuine feedback on how they can improve. I have no qualms with the most of the actual staff (why I gave it two stars instead of one), but the way the gym is ran needs work. The detailed SWOT is below, but bottom line up front for customers: Get a pass before you sign. Do not let them pressure you with a deal of a lifetime that "expires once you leave". Get a chance to look at the facilities and see if it's worth all the money you will be obligated to pay for the next 12 months. Also, check out other gyms if you're new to the area like I was. For example, the downtown YMCA is huge and very nice for half the price. Bottom line up front for Genesis: Please focus on customer trust and loyalty more than sales. There are better gyms with better facilities all over Wichita and I have met almost a dozen people in the year I've been here that have moved on from Genesis for the lack of trust. S (STRENGTHS): Very convenient locations all over Wichita Only gym with abundant tennis courts + rock climbing Very friendly staff (I really like Mitch and Ranya) Free towel, soap, deodorant, etc. American Dave's, awesome food W (WEAKNESSES): Contracts - Be prepared to pressured and faced with a "one day deal that expires as soon as you try to leave to think about it." Contract is binding as soon as you sign. I tried to break mine 4 days after I signed in the "two weeks free" period because I had other resources that were better than Genesis. I was faced with a $275 cancellation fee PLUS they were still going to withdraw my account $65 for one month. Needless to say I kept the membership but used the gym downtown more which is 1/10 of the size on Rock Road. When I tried to decrease my membership, I was falsely told by another manager that I could only upgrade my membership, not downgrade. Found out way too later that it was incorrect. Price - You can try the argument of " you get what you pay for" but that doesn't work favorably for Genesis in this case because everything is average at best (see next weakness point for more). There are other gyms with larger/better amounts of equipment. Facilities: I remember touring Genesis for the first time and looking at the pool being excited to do some pool workouts. Well, beyond the indoor pool being extremely small, it also needs some serious work. The tile around it is yellow and I saw a bandaid just sitting on the side - disgusting. Machines breaking take months to fix. At the downtown location, which is already tiny, there are only two stair master machines, one of which was broken from summer 2016 until Feb 2017. Ab areas are small and congested and on a picky note, they don't have many rowing machines available unless you pay extra for the All American class. O (OPPORTUNITIES): Price & Contracts - since it is not a non-profit organization, Genesis has more flexibility with price and contracts. This is apparent through the sales tactics they use on potential customers. Work more with customers on price, and even if you MUST have a contract don't try to scare customers into keeping it with a large cancellation fee. Be more reasonable and focus on trust and loyalty. Genesis will always have competitors, however, if it focuses more on customer loyalty instead of sales, it has significant potential to be the number one gym choice in Wichita. T (THREATS): YMCA - Specifically the one downtown has amazing facilities, childcare, income based membership prices, AND BEST OF ALL no contract. That's how you get a customer and keep a customer (yes I switched to the YMCA downtown). Planet Fitness - There are two relatively new PF gyms in Wichita, nice clean facilities with either $10 or $20 membership. And if you cancel, it's only $58 NOT $300. Other specialty gyms - for the price and contract Genesis forces on customers, people can pay for special gyms such as Orange Theory or crossfit.

I have never been a negative reviewer, this is the first time in my life I have been so frustrated about something, there is so much of cheating and bullying going on, beware of this place and read each and every word carefully before you sign a contract, have everything in written before you make any agreement. They lie a lot to get you signed up, once you sign they don't care.

All I can say is...run. There reps and trainers will lie to your face to get you to join and then to get personal training. Don't believe the "We treat you like family" spiel ...its a lie! If you try to cancel, they won't let you or lie and say they did. No matter the reason. Then they will take you to court and sue you for payment. Get Cancer and can't use membership? Too bad, pay up or go to jail. Check the BBB. There are literally 1000s of people just in Wichita alone who have had HORRIBLE experiences with them. One day the court docket had 48 people in the SAME DAY being sued for attempting to cancel their contracts! I DO NOT recommend them.

Heard today from the spin class instructor at the Genesis on Rock Road in Wichita KS she'd been laughing with an employee named Ben about how some employee took a photo of me riding a stationary bike and Snapchatted it to mock me for working out in the wrong area and sent it around. Hard to enjoy my workout when I know the employees are laughing at me and posting photos on social media that they snipe of me to humiliate me. Not a great way to spend a spin class, learning that the employees are discreetly photographing you and laughing at you. Unbelievable.

They tell you that you can have two accounts for the price of one, sounds great right? Months go by, and everything looks excellent right then their management rotates. When new people are rotated, they realize you're only paying for one account, and they try to tell you that its unfair for you to pay for one account. They'll offer you a "deal" and only pay $10 for the second account. Six months go by their management is rotated, rinse and repeat. When you explain what you were told they hide behind the guise that those people aren't there anymore and you can't hold them accountable. They're strictly a nickel and diming operation, don't fall for it. You can get the same equipment for a cheaper rate elsewhere.

I love it at Genesis. My trainer at the East Central location, Justin, is awesome. I have MS, and he has worked with me to a point I can lift weights safely. The gym on rock rd is my fave for activities and a very energy driven environment that motivates you even on your most lazy days! I'd recommend Genesis gym to anyone.

Although the facility's cleanly appearance is very nice, the fact that I was met with hostility, when my roommates made the mistake of wanting just to try Genesis on Rock Road, was absurd. Julian, who had been super nice to be when I joined, was rather angry after my friends didn't decide to join, mainly because of the price which, by the way, is extreme, especially the one on Rock. You can join other Genesis locations and pay a lot less, and if you're slick you can use that card to gain access to the Rock Road location.

I would give zero starts if I could. After being battered by my husband and hospitalized, I went in a month later to speak to Genesis to cancel his membership since he will be incarcerated for years. I was told the cancellation fee was $200. Turns out the fee was $275 and they charged two more months of membership fee despite no one using the services. All they care about is money, and there are plenty of other gyms to choose from. I am sharing this and asking that no one else support a business wanting to charge hundreds of dollars even when providing no service at all.

Waste of time waste of money. I joined through work and cancelled shortly thereafter because it wasn't what I wanted. Now three years later they suddenly call and can't process my payment. Then she says she sees my notice of cancellation but they want me to come sign papers regarding my cancellation to complete this process AND homegirl on the phone had an attitude. Sorry genesis...not gonna happen. You can shove your contract. And your crappy, weird customer service.

When I signed up, Mike Flores seemed like the nicest guy who was full of promises. He promised me a 35/mo rate but was billed 73 two months in a row. He kept promising I would get the refund but never did. Genesis is hardly worth 35/month. There are plenty of gyms for half the price as genesis! Go somewhere else and if you really want to go to Genesis, stay away from Mike! There isn’t an ounce of integrity in his body.

I have really enjoyed Genesis, it is a clean place, profesional stuff, everyone is always willing to help you out figure things around and equipment, I have taken almost every fitness class at least one and every instructor has been more than friendly and kind, Catherine is very sweet and personable, she remembers you by your name and instantly becomes your friend. Personal trainers all seem to be pretty good but I know I've got the best, Mason Coons is a great trainer, very knowledgeable, professional and effective, but most importantly he loves what he does and it shows, he has been very consistent and pushes me when I have zero motivation, he is encouraging and always have a very positive attitude, even when I don't follow or stick to my meal plan, he is positive and encouraging and that always pushes me to not give up, I would recommend Mason to everyone as he tailors his workouts according to the needs, capacity and endurance of each! I've started a journey in Genesis to a healthier lifestyle and I will continue it!

I worked for this club a year ago taking pictures of tennis classes, I rent special lens and spend time and money doing a good job for them, and today a year later and after visiting the gym, talk With the manger, send emails and make many phone calls, I'm still waiting to get paid for my work. This club is very fast to charge its members top price for there service but THEY DO NOT PAY FOR MY SERIVICE , oh!! and not only they did not pay me they have used my photos to promote their classes. After a wile I was having an extra expenses so I tried canceling my membership. When ever I would call I would get put on hold or when I show up and ask to cancel my membership nobody would help me having me wait 30 minutes or more so I just stoped paying because I had more important bills like my car payment and rent which I was getting behind. A few months pass and I get a letter in the mail they are garnishing my paycheck $3,700. Think twice before joining!!

I went less then 6 times, decided I did not like it at all, they would not let me out of my contract and then had me served and threatened to sue me!! Terrible company, if a customer does not like you and it will not hurt you to let them go, then why not let them go. No ethics at all, would never recommend them to anyone. I have been told by many other people they feel the same. Do not use this company as your gym, YMCA is much better. Horrible experience.

Customer service is not good. they do not appreciate customers. I have been a member of the gym for almost three years and I had to move out of town permanently for a job opportunity. I requested a cancellation of my membership they told me that you should have cancelled 30 days in advance (I cancelled 27 days in advance). I know that is my fault and I should have cancelled in advance but I have been a member for 3 years and I will be out of town. They will charge me for a month but I will not be in Wichita. They do not care whether you have been a member for a day or for years. You are just an extra number for them.

I joined genesis health clubs about a year ago and I absolutely regret it. I was offered a free trial of the gym and Joel or whoever was signing me up said all I had to do was sign a paper for the free trial then after that I stoped going. I get a call a month later saying I owe them 70 dollars and and an additional x20 dollars for the late fee. I said that’s impossible and they said I signed a contract. Afterwords I tried to cancel my membership but I had to pay 200 dollars plus the 90. I was already on the verge of losing my car and house when my job cut hours from me. I kept getting calls from them harassing me trying to get money I didn’t have from me. They kept doubling the amount I owed them until it came to 1,300 in less than 6 months then they sued me and garnished 50% of my checks. Do not trust them do not sign any paperwork even if they say it’s just for the trial and not for a membership.they should be ashamed of themselves!

I don't know about this particular branch, but in general, I would NOT EVER go to Genesis. I attended the Bridal Expo and have been receiving calls from them. Each time I tell them the same thing; I am currently not interested. Finally, I politely said if I was interested, I would call them. The response I received was, "Ok, that won't happen but have a good day." It was in a very rude tone, a very rude manner, and the person hung up the phone instantly. What they didn't know is that I currently am a student and have a free membership to another gym. I graduate soon and was thinking of trying Genesis then. So REALLY...I WAS going to call them. I thought the response I received was so disrespectful. They don't know me personally, or what I may have going on in my life, so they need to show respect. Whatever happened to the customer is always right??????

The facilities are top notch, the staff is very helpful, and if you want to take your fitness to the next level this is the place to be.

Horrible. When I came to Wichita I was young, naive, and they took advange. When signing the contract they tricked me into thinking it was a one time payment. I was not financially stable enough to pay what I thought was a one time payment EVERY month. I didn’t even step into that gym. They ended up filing a law suit against me for over $2500. Needless to say learn from me and do NOT sign that contract no matter how good they make it seem.

Snakey membership, contract and sales tactics. Baited me in with a radio promo I "won", wrote a confusing contract, and wouldn't let me out when I understood the terms, within the first 30 days. Told me to sell the membership to a friend or they would sue me, and they did. A good business wouldn't have to rope customers into being a customer for longer than they want. Stay far away from shady business dealings like this!

I'd give it zero stars if I could. In 2012 I was given a tour of the rock road genesis I was anxious to lose some weight work out regularly and play some basketball but the highlight was the rock wall they had in the club they told me that the price of the membership was $65 a month and at the time I wasn't making much money but I mentioned I was mostly interested in basketball and climbing the rock wall. As I was hesitant to sign up for the membership, and was deciding against it the mgr came out and joined the conversation and stated that he would throw in unlimited rock wall climbing for free included with the membership. And even put it on my copy and his copy of the contract. So that next weekend I came to the gym ready to work out excited to play basketball and climb the rock wall. As I walked in I played some basketball worked up a good sweat showered afterwards went swimming showered again and even though I was tired a little bit I still wanted to climb the rock wall so I got ready put on my second set of dry workout clothes and went up to the rock wall and they guy in the rock wall said it was $5 for every time I wanted to climb the rock wall and I said the hell if it is so I went and got my contract out of my car and showed them the mgrs addition to my contract and his signature well there was a debate and that manager that signed my contract confirmed he did that well that managers boss came out grabbed my contract and said if we did this for you than we would have to do it for everyone else so he crossed it out and said we are not gonna agree to that so he ruined my copy with the mgrs signature and said either you pay the $5 per time you climb or don't climb so I canceled my membership the first day I went there and left about 3 moths later I get a $980 debt on my credit report from genesis so I called and asked and the were saying I signed up for a member ship for one year membership and this is an attempt to collect a debt blah blah blah well anyways that year along with genesis debt and another huge debt and slot of medical bills I filed bankruptcy and wiped out my debt and I was done... well for the last 5 years I've been telling them to stop calling me I don't want anything to do with their club I don't trust them and they need to stop calling me every single time I tell them to take me off their call list they keep calling it's annoying today on 08/15/17 the call me saying that my membership cancelled on 08/02/17 I was like What membership??? Long story short I once again said stop calling me and take me off your call list

Theives and perverys! I joined genesis 3 years ago!! Was told it was a two year plan and somehow am paying for a third year. I joined for the rock wall and when the rock wall employee wanted to sleep with me and I refused he wouldnt help me with pulling me up and would allow the other gym members kids to throw tennis balls at me as I climbed without assistance. When I told genesis about the issue they said I had no proof and I still had to pay them! A few months later I asked an employee to help demonstrate a workout machine I didnt underatand but would be intrested in using and he said he was busy, it was his job and also I would have to schedule and meet with a personal trainer. All I wanted was some help out. I just tried to pay my last membership and asked for jodie and when a snooty girl asked if she could help me I politley said no I would perfer jodie since ive always gone through her and she responded with fine and hung up. Rude frat guys and sorority girls is all they hire. Dont go to genesis!!

I have never written a negative review about a product or a company in my life. But after being lied to about membership, discounts, non responses for over 2 months, and complete unethical sales practices this will be my first. I would never recommend joining this gym! You will be hounded to do training! The equipment is old and subpar. Would not have most of this equipment in my home gym. I was promised a discount at signing. Explained that I had just applied for AARP card because I just turned 50. Mitch said just bring card in when you get it and we will give you a 50% discount. A week later I brought in the card and he said it would be taken care of. After 3 months I have been charged the same price and now they are telling me that I signed a contract and they have no record of conversation and that since I was not 65 it did not apply to me. Still paying and they have not canceled my membership. All for a $58 monthly fee. Look at Opti Life or Vasa before signing a contract here. John

If you are looking for an upscale, nice facility that offers members many different amenities then Genesis is your place. I have been to other cities that have large national chain gyms and Genesis is hands down a better workout facility than any of the other places I have visited. I have been a member of this club back when it used to just be a tennis facility called "The Racquet Club". I would definitely recommend Genesis to anyone wanting to join a nice health club with top of the line equipment and trainers.

Your staff is awesome. Mitch does a great job with his crew. Clean facility with nice equipment that's well maintained. Lots of options when it comes to machines, classes, and events. Knowledgeable trainers with plenty on staff at all times to answer any questions you might have, even if its just "did ya catch the game"? Great daycare staff & setup. We love our gym and go basically every single day! Almost feels like family because we see the same sweaty smiling faces everyday. We're new to Wichita and Genesis has become a large part of our life and I couldn't imagine our daily routine without it.

If there is a situation, where they don't know the answer to a question, they go and find it. Also, I was assured that the Central location offered Pilates classes; they do not. I had to upgrade my membership to be allowed to attend Pilates classes at the North Rock location.

BUYER BEWARE. I was a member for two years and when I called a few months before the contract was supposed to end to see if there was anything I needed to do to make sure it ended in January of 16. The girl I spoke to at the desk said no. Turns out you do have to sign a form 30 days before cancellation, so I ended up paying for February. I called and spoke to a manager to explain the situation, he apologized and said he couldn't refund my money but did provide the 30 day cancellation form. By this time it didn't matter when I'd turn it in I'd still have to pay for March. April rolls around and my account reflects another withdrawal. They had no record that I ever turned in the form and the manager I was speaking to had quit or was fired. I submitted the form a second time, got a copy and had to pay for May. They are the kindest people when they're signing you up, but decent customer service is completely absent when you're trying to leave or have issues. I guess because there is no clause in the contract that promises good customer service they don't feel the need to provide it. Its unfortunate too because I did like the gym, but after the lies, deceit, and mistreatment I'd never go back. And the one thing they will always throw back at you is "you signed the contract stating you'd pay month to month after the end." But they continue to disregard the fact that I called to verify that information and was lied to or misinformed and that is somehow my fault.

I absolutely LOVE this gym! The place is clean, towels are always available, staff is friendly and the atmosphere is just great! I have had the toughest yet best workouts at All American Training which includes a heart monitor to track calories burned and other info seen on a big screen during the workout. I really enjoy the hot yoga class at 6:30 on Wednesdays which is included in the membership. The instructor, Saovany, is very knowledgeable, friendly and encouraging. One of my favorite ways to end the day is with a visit to the steam room. The atmosphere, staff and dedicated members have become my motivation.

I don't know what the negative reviews are all about. I'm from Boston & started working out with Genesis when I relocated to Wichita almost 2 years ago. The staff gave me an introductory fitness assessment that was above and beyond anything I've experienced elsewhere. The facilities are immaculate and the machine impeccably maintained. The staff is always friendly. The gym is incredibly spacious. I'm addicted to working out here to the point at which I wish I could pack up the gym and put it in my pocket to take with me when I travel, which I do extensively. It's a great place.

When I initially joined the gym, one of the Genesis employees started calling me on my personal cell phone "just to chat" and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I have since moved out of the state almost 3 YEARS AGO and genesis will NOT stop calling me. I cancelled my membership using my out of state job contract and new out of state address, so they are well aware. I have informed them every time they call that I don't live in Kansas, but they won't leave me alone. I was called yet again today, which is why I am posting this review. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM! This is the worst gym experience I have ever had.

Horrible costumer service skills nobody wants to deal with your problems when your charged twice on your account because your bank account is linked up with another person's account so you're being charged for two people's account and nobody wants to deal with the issue I've waited 2 weeks for my refund and still haven't got anybody to call me back and inform me of anything. They also wont give me the discount for having my bank information that is on file. The one lady told me that I wouldn't get it because it wasn't put on to my account until 2 months after I signed up when I gave them all this information when I signed up she said there's nothing that they can do to go back and give me that discount. Also was given the wrong information about how much my account would be per month when signing up this place has horrible customer service skills and would not recommend them to anybody all they want is your money and they'll screw you over as much as they can.

Used to be good in the past but not anymore I been a member for 5 years and 3 years ago things started going bad Most machines are not stable, cable machines have bad cables that are soggy. Treadmills and other cardio machines are old and the belt is floby and not straight. Overall if the machine move they will keep it even if it's not working properly I would move to another gym if any open but for now its the best in town
