We offer you the information of people who consumed the products and services of Genesis Health Clubs - Emporia (Gym) in the area close to Kansas.
To this day the business gets a rating of 4.2 over 5 and that rating was based on 67 reviews.
As you can read, the average score it has is very high, and it is founded on a very large number of feddbacks, so we can conclude that the evaluation is quite reliable. If there are many people who bothered to value when they've done well with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to set evaluations when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Gym is classified in the category of Gym.
Rick Fell is doing this review as I'm the one that frequents the gym. There is a friendly atmosphere at the Emporia Genesis. If one has questions, the staff is very helpful. I'm not active in any classes but there appears to good participation. The hours are set so that everyone should have ample time to work out. After a good work out, it's off to the sauna. The sauna is great! They have several trainers that appear to be in good demand. The only con that I have is the treadmills have seen their best years. Many are having to be repaired and then there are those that sound as if they're a rocket ready to blast off. Those of you that use the treadmills there know what I'm talking about. I've been a member here since it first opened, before Genesis bought it out. Yes ,I would recommend this gym.
I've been happy with all of their services the staff there they go out of their way to help you I just love it!
I like that the hours in the weekdays are more convenient than the weekend because it gives me time to still put in a workout even with my current work schedule.
Extremely disappointed with how the management handled an incident where a male verbally/physically harassed a female club member. When the incident was reported to management, the supervisor arrived to the meeting late, was uninterested in collecting information, disregarded filing any incident reports, and provided no concern/follow up. The female member had to file an incident report on her own, and follow up with the management on her own. Management handled the situation by stating "the male member gets a break because it is his first violation." Needless to say, the Emporia Genesis Health club does not value its female members safety with the environment they are creating/condoning. It's sad a loyal customer of over a year is not valued/appreciated in incidents concerning female club members safety, very disappointed with the management decisions and outcome. Strongly caution against doing business with a facility who does not put the club members safety/business first.
I love the atmosphere here.. and the personal trainer are amazing.. I miss working with Jenny..
I have been debating on getting a gym membership somewhere in town for a while. This place was my last stop for pricing and information. I called earlier in the day to get pricing information and instead I was transferred to someone else with an accent that was impossible to understand that wanted to play 20 questions with me before giving me the information I asked for. Due to being at work I didn’t have time for that so I stopped by in the evening to speak to someone face to face to acquire the pricing information I needed. I was told when I walked in that in order to get pricing information I HAD to go on a tour and be given a fitness assement or they couldn't release any pricing information. Uh, what?? Bottom line, if you’re looking for a gym in town don’t even waste your time with this place. There are plenty of other options that won’t waste your time.
What a fantastic gym to do your workout at Emporia Genesis!!! I love all the friendly personnel that are willing and ready to help you in any way they can! I am thankful for Pete the manager, for Charlotte who keeps all the billing straight, for all the fantastic trainers who are always ready to lend a helping hand!! Especially to trainer Basil Kessler for his keen eye, persistent and encouraging attitude, and is always making sure his clients get what they need!!! So a Great Big Thank You to all at Emporia Genesis!!! Yeah!!!!!!
Friendly staff! Neat and clean workout environment! Locker room is always spotless clean! Great fitness center that is a benefit to our Emporia community!
Currently the steam room is out of service. It has been down for over a week. This is the 3rd time it has been down. There was no hot water for over 4 days. Last Monday the 8th I climbed on 3 different treadmills that all showed errors and would not work. I was not getting my gperks points for several weeks. To management's credit this was fixed very quickly after I brought it to their attention. I do not like paying for a membership when so many things are constantly breaking down! This is not what I paid for!
Better gym in Emporia equipment wise, but hours suck, they need to be 24 hours. The new dumbbells only go to 70, the older heavier ones are falling apart. Would love to see it expand. The prices could definitely be better, the 24 Hour Fitness I went to in Las Vegas was cheaper and didn't have start up fees or contracts.
I'm loving this gym! It's nice to be able to walk in and immediately start working out because of the great selection of equipment including treadmills which had been a problem with other gyms in the past. Ashley is an amazing personal trainer and helped give me that extra push I needed to stay motivated. The staff is always friendly and helpful and I like that I can get what supplements I like right there at the gym. I'm happy that I decided on Genesis to get back on the right track!!
Great classes and friendly staff.
The one suggestion that I could have is that there should be a Yoga class in the morning. There is everything else at 5:15 but that. Great place with friendly staff.
Be aware that their business model seems to be founded on locking you into a contract with no flexibility to cancel. Hence, if a person's situation changes and he/she is no longer able or interested in continuing a gym membership, then Genesis will hound that person for a period of years through collections and court. My personal experience involved a 3-yr contract (I was clearly naive and will not repeat this mistake) that was "frozen" during summer and winter breaks when I was out of town and did not have access to a Genesis facility. They still charged me for the membership dues each of those months with the promise of extending my membership for the same number of months after the 3-yr period ended. In practice, this meant I was paying for a service that I could not use. After 2.5 years into the contract, I could not justify paying the monthly fees because 1) they are expensive and 2) I did not like their cardio equipment set-up and would rather just run outside for free. I asked if I could be let out of my contract since I'd essentially already paid for the equivalent of the remaining months during a time that I could not use the gym. They did not even reply. Due to potential fraudulent activity, my credit card company sent me a new card with a different number than the one that had been used by Genesis to draft my account. Consequently, they could not longer receive the automatic monthly payments without me updating the information. Only then did they reach out to me to identify the issue. Their only offer to end my commitment to them was for me to find someone else who could take over my membership (like a sub-lease on an apartment). There was no mention of compensating me (or a new person) for the months when my membership was "frozen," but I was paying, anyway. They then continued to hound me with phone calls, submitted my membership for collections, and eventually took me to court. I cannot emphasize enough how much I loathe Genesis Health Clubs. A member-centered gym would say, "Hey, we really appreciate your membership, but understand situations change. If you ever decide you want to return to using a health club, then we hope you'll come back to Genesis." Instead, I think they count on a revolving door of ESU students, faculty, and Emporia community members to sign up and over-commit so that they can siphon monthly fees and then take people to court if they can't make payments. I was shocked by how many others were also in court for Genesis, and that was just one day! After my experience, I have heard of many other similar stories. I wish I had been forewarned. Five and a half years after I signed my contract with Genesis (3 years since I asked to cancel my membership!) I am finally rid of them after paying a $150 settlement. I would have rather paid $150 for a social media campaign to warn others of their shady practices.
Every time I come something else is broken ,they only have one working stair master and a ton of atypicals no one uses ,honestly seen better gym for the price. Weights wise it's not bad could make sure to organize towards the back.
I love it great gym
Great place to work out and trainers are goid as well.
LoVe the 5-5:30am workout crow!! :)
I love genesis health club in Emporia because it has all the equipment you need to get the proper work out in and great staff. My personal favorite group class is HITT!
I enjoy the atmosphere of the gym. Though I have never taken one of the group courses, I enjoy the staff and trainer's presence. They are all very helpful at a moment's notice. The gym is always clean and friendly so I enjoy going.
They can't take no for an answer. I've asked several times to be taken off their call list. Last time as recent as 2 days ago. I still get phone calls from them 2-3 times a week and have for months. Unprofessional and annoying.
The group fitness classes are a good way to come in, follow an instructor, and get a great workout! You don't have to worry about knowing everything and coming up with your own routine. Class participants are friendly and welcoming. It's like Cheers... were everybody knows your name!
This club is very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I can always count on a hello from Lexi at the front desk and Pete making his rounds making sure everything is going well. My kids also love the day care and all the staff.
Dishonest sales tactics at my place of work concerning a discount they said we would get on our insurance for having a gym membership that they'd supposedly confirmed with our HR dept, which wasn't true at all. Plus, phone calls after requesting to be removed from list and repeated billing after notice of cancellation for myself, twice and a friend, once. After multiple contacts on the phone and, two face to face contacts by each of us wanting to cancel we were offered no apologies for the dishonesty or the extra billing cycles. There was no reimbursement, and no solution other than finally cancelling our memberships. They didn't even seem to care at all about what they'd done. This was after my previous membership years ago where I also had issues with being billed after requesting cancellation, having to go back again months later and request cancelling again, and receiving no reimbursement. I went back with a new membership because I thought it was a fluke... an accidental oversight rather than a standing business practice. Between those two memberships I was called regularly over a period of 4 or 5 years, after expressing that I was not at all interested and did not want any more phone calls. I ended up blocking the number they call from because shortly after the most recent cancellation someone AGAIN called to see about reinstating my membership. I was incredulous that they'd even have the audacity to call me again unless it was to offer an apology or reimbursement. I was going to contact the Better Business Bureau, but honestly it was just better for my mental health to be completely done with them. Save yourself money by going to Emporia Fitness. They're cheaper, they aren't super aggressive or dishonest, everything is upfront, and I've never had a problem, nor have I heard of one from anyone else I know that used to or does go there now. Their machines also aren't frequently broken down like they are at Genesis.
The morning ladies Cortney and Lexi always greet you with a smile to start your day off right. They will take care of you. This morning we had snow and Cortney had it all shoveled before us 5 o'clockers got there. Much appreciated.
Good place
Genisis is GRREAT!! Staff and patrons are friendly and the facilities are well maintained. Plus you can use their gyms in other cities. 5 Stars all the way.
I love Genesis Health clubs in Emporia Kansas Its a very comfortable environment. Quality equipment where everyone has manners to ask if taken. I like how all group classes are all free they're lots of fun and great exercise. Genesis just started a December event where get a Bingo card and attend all classes to each one checked off and get them all checked get a prize.
I enjoy the boot camp classes and the accessibility to different types of equipment. Wish it had later hours. Overall good place to work out.
I love this club. Whether you prefer group classes, working with a trainer, or working out on your own, Genesis provides that. It's clean, well equipped, well staffed, and friendly. Although the Emporia location is smaller than some of the Genesis locations, it has everything I need.
Do it , if you want to waste your money.
Class instructors learn your name and welcome you when you come to class.
I felt comfortable from the moment I walked in. I was given a tour and all of my questions were answered. I also really appreciate the open hours.
Awesome staff and tons of equipment excellent prices and awesome locker room best gym I've been to honestly
Great Gym, great staff, plenty of equipment.
