As of day this business gets a score of 4.7 stars out of 5 and this rating was based on 84 reviews.
You may have noticed that its rating is basically the highest, and it's based on a large number of opinions, so we may be pretty sure that the rating is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well with the business, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to write evaluations when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Gym corresponds to the category of Rock climbing gym.
Love this place. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a fun activity for kids, practice for climbing, or some american ninja style competition.
It's a fun place for the whole family! There is something for beginners, intermediate, and more experienced climbers. They also have a full sized warp wall and ninja training area for you American ninja warrior fans! They even have yoga! They change routes frequently so there is always new challenges!
Kids had a good time, however was not ecstatic they force a parent/guardian to buy a ticket for children under 11. I stayed and watched my children, but don’t feel I should be required to buy a ticket. Charge more for children under 11 if there is a greater risk for injury.
Great facilities, great climbing problems. Friendly climbing community. Talking with the on-staff chiropractor (Nate) helped me immensely! I never would have guessed this service would be useful, but he is very knowledgeable and helpful! Thanks to the whole staff and team at Apex! I love my experiences here! Can't wait to try the yoga sessions, as well.
I bring my 9 yr old daughter here to climb occasionally. My 12 yr old son loves the Ninja training area. It's great watching them have fun while getting the exercise that so many kids lack these days. The prices are affordable. I especially like that we can stay for the whole day from open to close for one price. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They really make us feel welcome every time we visit. Recently, a young man was setting routes on the wall and noticed my daughter having difficulty catching a hold. She is small for her age. He raised one hold just enough to give her the 3 inches she needed to complete the route. Amazing service! My only complaint is the material the holds are made of. They are plastic with a very rough, sand-paper texture. When my daughter climbs here her hands begin to hurt badly after a couple hours. She has tough, callused hands but these holds really pull on her skin and have ripped off several calluses and caused "flappers". I tape up her hands the best as I can but she still suffers from burning pain that lasts for a couple days afterwards. She has to stop climbing because of the pain in her hands, not because she is tired. She doesn't have this problem with her normal climbing gym so I believe this due to the types of holds they use. Otherwise, Apex Climbing gym is a great place to visit and have fun while your getting rhe exercise you and your kids need. They certainly earn their 5-STAR rating from me.
GREAT GYM and even better people!!!! Best bouldering gym in Kansas !!
This place is awesome. I broughy my son here for something new to try and he loved it. The staff was super friendly and helpful as well as all the patrons. The facility is clean and maintained very well. I would highly recommend this place.
Training for ANW9 and they've been more than accommodating to us, building last second obstacles and staying after hours. Great facility and staff!
We love coming to Apex. They change the routes pretty regularly which is great and there are varying levels of difficulty which allows us to climb with friends and family who are better and worse than us. We definitely recommend this local place.
Helpful staff. The kids climbed for four hours. Had to drag them out of the place.
Routes are good, too many unsupervised little kids just running about
Extremely friendly staff and great climbing gym.
From us beginners to highly experienced climbers you will find challenges that fit. Also American ninja warrior type challenges. A very comprehensive ninja training area, with a warped wall and more.. What a fun Place for everyone in the family!
It was an okay experience there. It seemed a bit unorganized and I wasn't impressed with the routes they had set. I was not a fan of the crash pads they were using either. It felt like there were a lot of areas of soft spots that made it awkward.
Best gym in KC!!
Awesome place to go bouldering. They do have a handful of belays but it's a pretty short wall. Community and staff are great, make you feel at home on your first visit. Highly recommend checking it out!
My.kids and their friends absolutely loved their visit. The Ninja room not only challenged them physically but allowed them to get creative and create different obstacle courses. The staff was super helpful. Will be back!
Great place
Over the years, I have had 20 birthday parties for my kids at places all over KC, and my daughter Seville’s 9th birthday party at Apex was by far one of the best!! Phil, his wife, and their daughter Jade were an absolute joy to work with and made sure Seville and her friends had a wonderful time. The facility is fresh, clean and super fun! The kids loved being able to do both the climbing walls and the ninja warrior course. The party room is large, has plenty of space to eat and open presents (plus a fridge and sink), and we loved the graffiti walls all over the facility (super fun for pics!!) Jade was our party host, and we cannot say enough good things about her! She was so helpful and good with the kids, and made sure everyone was safe and had a great time. It is neat to see a family working together to run a successful business! My husband and I couldn’t stop talking about how great the party was, and I keep recommending them to all of my friends. Thank you APEX for making Seville’s 9th birthday such a memorable evening!! We can’t wait to come back!! P.S. This is my first online review ever. That is how much I loved this place!
Bouldering gym with Ninja Warrior training area. There is a yoga room and small weight lifting area. Good setters with variety of routes for all skill levels . Send it bra.
Mind blowing. Woooooaaaahhh
The staff here were friendly and welcoming, but the whole experience was pretty underwhelming for a gym that opened only a couple months ago. The flooring was obviously a cheap install, with very little fall absorption and some large dead areas. The route setting had lots of good ideas and some cool holds, but ultimately the routes lacked enough foot options, forced you to grab uncomfortable holds, had little in the way of technical movement, and we're unclearly labeled. While the ninja warrior area looked pretty well done, I found the climbing to be sub par for an experienced climber. Definitely wouldn't leave a membership at ibex to come to this place, though hopefully as they grow into the space, add some new holds, and gain setting experience, some of these concerns will dissappear.
I loved apex for my grandchildren but since they are requiring me to pay for climbing while I watch the kids climb, we won’t be coming back. Perhaps the extra $20 this time was worth the $60per month it will cost the business.
Great place to get an awesome work out! Constantly changing the obstacles. If you love to climb definitely should check this place out.
I love this place! They have a great variety and it is a great place to hang out this friends. I don't usually go bouldering, but this place really helped me think of all the bright sides of bouldering. The ninja warrior obstacles are also amazing because of how fun it is to try to test yourself and get better at everything. Even though everyone is making a ninja warrior course of their own this place really shines because of how many things they really have.
I have been to several bouldering gyms in different states and this one is probably my favorite that I have ever visited. The rock climbing side has a ton of routes with different levels of complexity. The staff is super helpful, kind, and energetic. And the people at the gym are also a very helpful community. They help you get up the wall and teach you how to be a better climber!! There is also a ninja warrior side: aka the grown up jungle gym! It is a lot of fun to try, but you will quickly realize that it is incredibly difficult!! All in all, worth the price of admission and more!!
Awesome.
The owner and staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Routes are appropriate for everyone from beginners to experts.
Supportive community, helpful and instructive staff. Family atmosphere and if you're lucky the owners will let their lab Nelly roam around.
Apex is a rad little bouldering gym I have enjoyed frequenting this summer. I'd say a strong point is their route-setting. They change up their problems very frequently, and they cater to a wide variety of climbing styles. There are many different route-setters, some better and some worse. (Chan is the head setter, his problems are consistently excellent) I'd say the route ratings are a little cushioned overall, but I am no expert. The reason I took off a star is the occasional crowdedness. There have been days when the gym is extremely crowded, then some days you have the gym to yourself. It's quite unpredictable. However, it's never been prohibitively difficult to hop on a problem. The people that climb here are all really friendly; I've met some really unique climbers.
Great friendly staff. Hip art installations. Excellent climbing and training facilities.
Ninja room sets this place apart. Staff is also extremely nice. Family friendly as well.
Great place to boulder. The people are great. Fun ninja room, and nice weights upstairs. Also a moon board to practice on. Really like this place.
Amazing gym.. especially for ninja warrior training
Technical problems that need careful thought (or the help of a local) to complete. Definitely a highlight of the gym. A section of the gym is dedicated to American Ninja equipment. However, I didn't see many people over the age of eight using it. Some of it looks insanely hardcore and fun, just arrive late in the evening or during school hours otherwise you run the risk of stepping on a minor. Everyone I talked to was super friendly, nice tunes, overall good vibe.
I love this place!
Awesome. Always adding new routes And new equipment. Worth every penny.
Dude this place is fun. Me and a group of friends thought we would try it out for something new and wasn't disappointed!! Will be back!!
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time at Apex. We're on our way to Los Angeles and stayed just a block away at the Comfort Inn in Overland Park. We were walking to dinner and happened upon the gym. The amazing owners gave us a great discount because we came in a few hours before closing and we spent them bouldering and trying out the ninja warrior obstacles. Would absolutely recommend for someone traveling through or anyone else for that matter. Fun top out problems and great experience in the ninja room,
Went last night for the first time and thought it was the best thing ever. I met the owner and his son within 10 minutes of being there. Very friendly staff that contribute well to a relaxed and chill atmosphere. Definitley making it a weekly routine!
I love this gym. Friendly staff and friendly members. Overall really great climbing community.
Such an amazing place. Super fun rock walls and a great ninja warrior area. Check this place out! Also great for all ages!
Great gym! I love all the rock walls and the ninja obstacles. The people I've met have been really encouraging and have helped my rock-climbing skills a ton!
We had my sons birthday party here and it was great! The staff is awesome
Good routes, good people. My favorite place to boulder in KC.
Bouldering gym and ninja warrior style training. It's not huge but it has several levels. Route setting is better than average and there's a good variety of problems. I enjoyed this facility but be aware that it can get crowded - it's just not that big. Staff were helpful and friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
Nice bouldering gym. The wall is too often half empty of routes
Great gym for all levels. Sometimes is crowded otherwise no complaints. Ninja room is also awesome here!
it is nice to have the obstacle room there too as a change if pace.
From an experienced climber who grew up climbing in Colorado, this place has some of the least satisfying problems I have ever climbed. There is very little flow (if any) to the problems. The ratings are poorly set. The difference between a V2 and V5 is very little if any. I would not recommend this gym to any experienced climber. They might want to invest in hiring some experienced setters. The next time I visit I would have a hard time convincing myself to invest in a membership if the problems don't improve.
Work friends invited me. It was really cool. Really good work out. Looking to go back
The team here is friendly and very welcoming! The cool part about this gym is that there’s a little bit of everything—bouldering, obstacle course training, yoga room and weights. They even have a website where you can make a profile and mark off routes you’ve accomplished. It’ll even let you know when they change up the walls! The facility is super clean and well managed. Will come back every time I’m in town!
Top notch bouldering. Lots of routs and variations for different skill levels. Ninja room is super fun. There were little kids messing around on obstacles as well as obvious pros. Friendly staff, helpful, fun competitions too.
Good variety on the wall, lots of beginner routes. Graded a little on the stiff side
Really fun place to boulder!
Great climbing gym. One of the only places in the area with ninja warrior style obstacles. Staff is helpful and the music is always good.
Fun and great place too climb
Horrible hours
Overall a nice gym. Ninja warrior setup is a nice plus. The route setters need to allow some more variance between difficulty levels though. The difference between a V0 and V1 is far to great. I feel a new climber should be able to send a V0 route within a few attempts. As of today this isn't the case with the routes available. The jump from V0 to V1 is a huge jump. Many gyms would consider the V1s and V2s that were available to be closer to V4 ratings. In summation, great place to climb but I wouldn't send a newer climber there. If you normally climb >V5 than you'll have a good time.
