Management is a joke, I’ve been to 3 different location trying to cancel my membership which I don’t even use, and they have an excuse every time. (manager not in, computers down) can’t cancel over the phone either. I guess just keep billing me, thanks genesis

Genesis is a good club with a friendly staff. Wish all locations had a pool but I can't complain. The equipment is well taken care of and if something is broke the repair guy is quick to fix it. Over all it is a good place to workout.

Good location for me. It is a nice facility and when I go in it never seems excessively crowded. Never have attended classes or used personal training. I pay 20 bucks a month and 40 bucks for annual maintenance.

I love this club! Perfect size for me to learn the machines and the staff is really great. The free training sessions are my favorite. They really explain how to properly use each machine and give you a perfect workout routine!

Their motto is "Finally, A Health Club that Cares About its Members"... and my experience with them isn't true. I was a member at 24 hour fitness, and joined this club after visiting and being sold on some of the amenities they offered (such as towel service). They cancelled their towel service to members in October by posting notices two days before. I contacted a manger asking about this, and he responded promptly. I asked some clarifying questions, and asked for the name of a manager, and the person never responded a second time (Matt Prosoki). I then filed with the BBB, and Aspen never responded to my issue. Pretty poor response when they claim to care about members. Now I'm back at 24 hour fitness and wishing I could get money back from my pre-paid membership.

The facilities at Aspen are nice. The staff is mediocre. The contracts and pricing though, are horrendous. My wife and I were both given a price at the time that we signed up that we agreed to pay and found reasonable. However, after two weeks (apparently when their management reviews new contracts or something) we were told that we were under-charged. They wanted to charge my wife an additional $200 and to charge me an additional $120. Not to mention that they didn't bother to explain the "Club Enhancement Fee" either. This is the most ridiculous experience I have ever had. I find their sales practices to either be purposefully deceptive or willfully ignorant, either way I'll never go back and I'll never recommend them to any one. I can honestly say that in no other business dealing have I ever been so angry. Regardless, AVOID THIS GYM! In all likelihood, you'll end up paying a hidden fee or two.

Every time I go, there are always a lot of machines available. The workout classes are great with very fun, upbeat and motivating instructors. The facility is very clean and has a very friendly staff. I've belonged to a couple of gyms, but this one is by far the best.

Genesis purchased the Golds Gym in Aksarben Village, Omaha and since then they must have done away with having a cleaning crew. There are piles of dust and dirt on the equipment, stairs and floors. I have emailed concerned and heard no response. Considering another gym at this point.

Of all the health facilities I've been to in my life, Aspen is the least hygenic. First of all, it must not have very good ventilation, because it usually smells like dirty feet. The locker room always needs to be cleaned and I was disappointed to discover they have NO towels for members. Twice, I was in the upstairs bathroom and there was NO toilet paper. The squirt bottles to clean the machines were empty last night. There seems to be plenty of employees milling around, but they must be salesmen. When I was new, a personal trainer interupted me while I was on the treadmill with my headset. I had to stop my work out to answer his questions. However, I do think Kim and her spinning classes are fabulous.

Wonderful place. I was there when it was Aspen; then Gold's, now Genesis. I enjoy the helpful staff and the location is perfect for me. I just wish there were more website/online capabilities, like the other gyms (bill pay, trainer appointments, etc.). I highly recommend!

Customer service is not a priority. As a previous resident in Omaha, moved for work, and a former member of Aspen Athletic as far back as when it was a small facility on the second floor in the strip mall across the street, I would have liked to come into town for four days of business and exercise. However, I was told as a non-resident it would be $15 per day. This was first explained to me by the gentleman at the counter who "politely" stopped using his cell phone as I waited to speak with him. When asking for the manager, Shawn came over to explain the same policy. I asked Shawn if I should just call the other location and sign up for a 3 day free trial and use my work address as my local address and that I just moved into town so I could work out for free. He said I could "theoretically do that, but he would call the other location." Shawn, you missed the point, I am trying to pay for my workouts and not cheat the system. But if my membership was $20 a month before, why are you trying to charge me $45 for three days. Maybe reinstate my membership at $20; do something but quote policy and not use your brain. As someone in business, GET THE MONEY SHAWN, even $10 is better than zero. I can't blame all the poor service on Shawn because he was not even employed with Aspen when I was a member, so I have to believe upper level management or ownership does not have a priority on training customer service and profit. Retaining customers is easier than trying to get new members. I am not really upset, just disappointed. As a former customer service trainer, the shortage of creative thinking to make people happy is unfortunate. Aspen Athletic can call me any time to discuss the situation. Please watch out I do not recommend this gym for you in less that you want to get in to debt There is a cancellation fee of $500 Plus one month they will charge you extra when consolation I canceled in November 2016 they still charging me me all until January 2017 of another year Because truthfully I did not pay the solution fee right away And truthfully I didn't even know it was a contract I thought it was just a waiver I was unaware in the small print at the contract Because the guy who sold me the contract said he could brief me on it by just explaining that And did not tell me that What's the consolation fee They are rude to you once you want to cancel but they are very nice to you when you want to start

Avoid at all cost!!! Me and my friend talked to manager about the possibility to work out there only for two weeks and he agreed. We made a deal right away and he had us to sign up some papers in instant. After two or three months the same manager calls us saying that we need to meet and tells that has no idea about 2 week deal we made with him pretending that he doesn't know what we were talking about. He shows us the signed contracts that says that we are enrolled for 36 months of membership and have to pay 50$/month for 3 years. He didn't talk about it AT ALL when we first met and slipped in the wrong contract in purpose to get our signatures on there. While showing the contract on the screen of their computer, he just scrolled the whole page down fast and said to sign up here. It happened to me and my friend as well as his girlfriend when she came there the other day and the same exact scenario happened to her as well, this makes me think that these guys do this sort of things to everybody who comes there. again, AVOID!!!

All in all a great club. I would prefer that some of the cardio machines be removed to make way for additional weights/machines as it seems that there are too many (not all are used). The times I go (early morning or early afternoon) it is never crowded. Hopefully the Aksarben club will receive some TLC as the Tara and Cass street locations have.

Overcrowded and busy. Focus has shifted to multiple membership drives since changing over from Golds. Treadmills, stairmills, and ellipticals are in constant disrepair. Limited space for strength training. Lax enforcement concerning bags/bottles on the gym floor. Front desk people are nice/helpful but the experience overall has gone downhill. No reinvestment has occurred since the acquisition.

I have been at Genesis for over a year now. I switched from a small gym that I had attended for 10 years and went to a larger place without knowing anyone. The staff has made me feel at home and I get great work outs done there! I appreciate the amenities that a small gym simply can't offer.

(This location) Feels like a very big hotel gym, no steam room sucks no basketball court. The good lots diff machines not at other genesis clubs, tv on most cardio mach. Carpet in lots of the gym kinda wierd,also sauna in locker room dont care for, the Best part is private large showers. So if you want quick workout and good shower perfect fit for ya.

I joined Genesis in July 2017, and it's been a very good decision for me! All of the group fitness classes have been excellent, and challenging. I also love that I have access to the open gym as well. The staff members have been friendly and welcoming. I'd recommend Genesis to anyone that asks!

I have been member here since Aspen first opened and after taking a break from the gym (2yrs), I signed back up this year. Let's just say they've gone downhill since they first opened. I went to cancel my membership and staff were rude as soon as I mentioned "cancel". Shows what this "club" is really about.

Worst experience ever! Wish I had read these reviews before walking in their door! After walking out of Aspen I was so confused that I felt like I had just dealt with the nastiest used car salesman of all time. Left the place with a membership that I did not want nor know that I had. I not only never saw, read or received a contract but they are more than happy to take money out of your account and in no way help you to cancel the contract without a huge run around. They will then sign the cancellation and then tell you hours later that they can't cancel because you owe them more money for the enhancement fee! What is that??? Really? Over a hundred bucks? If you want to pay waaaaaay more than what they tell you up front than this is the gym for you. If you want to deal with a scamming used car salesman that lies, confuses, beats around the bush, has staff lie for him then attacks you and calls you a liar then by all means REGGIE is the man for you! You will feel right at home at Aspen Athletics! Don't walk, RUN...RUN! Contacted Better Business Bureau and they said they have a grade of F. Yes, that's right, an F! The BBB stated that they are not only difficult to deal with they will just be unresponsive to the BBB! They suggested that I should file a complaint with them AND the Attorney General. I suggest that everyone on this review page do the same or they will just suck one more poor soul into their nasty web!!

Great place to work out. The staff is friendly, which makes going there enjoyable. The two trainers I've worked with have been excellent. The only negative thing is the contract. Your locked in for 30 months with no way out. My suggestion would be to shorten the term of the contract. Take it down to a year maybe. Lives can change drastically in 2.5 years. If something does happen, a 12 month contract will not be so painful to terminate.

Carpet is coming up in men’s locker room, when I asked management about it (after I witnessed an older man trip) all the manager did was laugh at the older gentlemen tripping. 4. I have been a member of this club since it first opened ( when it was still at its temporary location) in 2010. First, they charged me for group classes although group classes were not available until the new facility opened. I let that pass. THEN, they charged me the annual "maintenance " fee after only being a member for 2 months! I thought that was absurd and my friend, who actually referred me to aspen, cxl hers immediately. They put her through a lot of strife, but I kept my membership because I knew I had signed the contract. Fast forward to today...I am being CHARGED a monthly fee. DESPITE cancelling my membership in August of 2012! I did not renew my contract, and I was a month to month member. Should be a non issue right? When I called Luke asked me to furnish the cancellation document, which I doubt he thought I'd find, but I found it. Then he said my last visits were in Sept of 2012, when I moved to Chicago in Aug of 2012! Now I'm waiting to speak to the finance department tomorrow. So I decide to google reviews to see if anyone else has had this issue and came across this thread. I will provide an update soon. It's unfortunate that the staff members are ruining such a great facility.

After being harrassed via phone calls and text messages, I enrolled with aspen on a special and was instructed to come in and sign for my membership. The sales personnel was friendly and instructed me to sign on an electronic pad while he "explained" the contract. Clearly, I was not being told what I was signing to because it has come to haunt me. Because I was not getting what I wanted from the club, I decided I was wasting my money. I attempted to cancel my membership, but was told if I pay $7 a month, I could come back without any registration fees. I agreed. The next month they billed me $40.00. I called several times and finally contacted someone who was able to reverse the mistake. a few months later I was billed $57.00. I called back again and they refused a refund stating I had signed and agreed to a $50 enhancement fee. I explained I was not an active member as my freeze contract clearly states it would "reactivate my membership" whenever I wanted to come back. They now refuse to refund my money based on the original contract even though I have signed additional documentation which nullifies this contract. They are altering their contract verbage to benefit them and antagonized me stating that I can do "whatever I need to do on my side to prove them wrong". I am very dissatisfied with Aspen and want to ensure everyone knows they type of disturbing business they are signing with. Aspen associates are unethical and lack customer service.

They moved all of the yoga classes to late in the evening - really not convenient for me. The yoga instructor, Violet, is very condescending and ruined my 'Zen' so much before the class even started that I removed all of my equipment and left. I was using 2 mats to cross them and provide more cushion because of my rheumatoid arthritis and she informed me that I could only have one mat and it had to be facing the way she wanted them all to be facing. Several people that attend the most amazing yoga instructor in Omaha's class there (also in many of our opinions)were openly complaining about her condescending attitude in the class, so it isn't just me. Unfortunately for members, Violet is the main instructor now. I imagine their class size has dwindled to probably at least half or 1/3 the size. I also asked for there to be a large jug of hand sanitizer put back on the front desk after it disappeared and was told that it would not be replaced because of all of the hand sanitizer stations on the walls. Well, that would be great if they were full and working all of the time, but they are not. Is it really such an outrageous and expensive request that you cannot do that one simple, inexpensive thing? Many of the treadmills have at least one thing wrong with them that seems like it takes forever before they fix them.

I love working out at the Genesis Health club. Firstly their classes are well planned throughout the day due to which I can go to a class at 6.45pm after completing my work. This is really important for me because most gyms in Omaha don't have class after 5pm and I can't go to them because of my work schedule. I love all group class trainers and the people in it. All my stress goes away after attending these classes. This gym has a good ratio of cardio and weight training equipment which fits perfect with my workout regimen. I have tried their personal training sessions and the trainer was good. I didn't continue due to financial reasons but I will spend my money if I get the chance again to take them. Overall I love this gym and enjoy the people working out here.

I wish Genisus was more kid friendly. Like swimm classes, activities while parents are working out. I know Kansas City has a more kid and family activities like wall climbing, and other stuff. Why don’t you bring that to Omaha, me. You can still have some locations adult friendly but others family oriented.if your trying to get people to leave YMCA offer their programs like live strong for cancer patients or survivors, maybe the staff walk around and see how people are doing on their work outs. Get to know your guest.

The Gym was great, good machines and decent locations. Unfortunately the gym has lots of fees and get you wrapped in contracts. I had a bad experience with a billing over charge and i got the run around multiple times from management with no empathy and ended up paying my bill fees anyways just to get out of it.. it was terrible. I wish I could do 0 stars. I do not recommend this gym.

I could go on and on about my experience at Aspen Fitness. But what it comes down to is the staff is RUDE and the customer service is non-existent. I have been a member for over a year and just yesterday cancelled my membership. I had a billing issue, I had changed my plan from a 39.99 a month to a 19.99 a month in September and realized that I was still being charged the 39.99. When I brought it to their attention I was pretty much called a liar. I thought that I didn't have the receipt for the membership downgrade so at first it was pretty much my word against theirs. They even went as far as to say that there is "no way that our employee could have made a mistake". I ended up going home and finding the receipt and brought it back to them. They didn't apologize for the way they treated me or for the fact that they called me a liar. I immediately cancelled my membership on the spot and they didn't even bat an eyelash. It was kind of like "see ya". It is just sad. Aspen's location is very convenient for me and now I have to drive to go to the gym. I had a friend that had a similar experience and he also cancelled his membership. Again they were pretty much like "see ya". Bottom line: DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM, IT SEEMS NICE ON THE OUTSIDE, BUT ONCE YOU ARE AROUND FOR A WHILE YOU WILL REALIZE HOW DIRTY, SNOBBY, AND HORRIBLE THE ATMOSPHERE IS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Happy with the gym at Aksarben. It's got a more welcoming feeling, less like a fitness warehouse and more like it's an extension of home. Their trainer program is also a big plus. They listen to what your goals are and set up a program tailored to you.

Buyer beware. Genesis will rob you blind. You pay $50 a month ($600 a year) for a membership and then they ALSO charge $40 a year in "enhancement" fees because they don't use your dues to actually maintain their equipment. So funny, since that was what I thought you were paying for when you joined a gym.

Upfront: $200 to start, $200/yr, and $50/mth...it's laughable. I see all of the good posts were 11-12 months ago... I assume some sort of promotion if you post 5 stars. The posts lately are worse and for good reason. The gym is a dump, the manager is a desperate salesperson ... And dishonest. He offered a 5% discount [NEAT] then when I said I wasn't interested, he said he will make sure I cant get that discount at any of the other gyms...no worries there. The gym is lacking in cleanliness and therefore competent management. Close this gym and make it anything else... It's a blight on Aksarben.

The health department should be contacted. This gym is absolutely filthy with clumps of dirt on the stairs. The equipment has layers of dust and dirt as do the stairs. I have brought this attention to management and no one seems to care or even know who the management is. Location is great.

I have no problems with aspen. I'm a gym-goer who enjoys the fitness classes and instructors are all fabulous. Plus there is more classes than other gym I've seen in midtown Omaha. Bathroom facilities are always clean too. No complaints.

Only recently started going to this location. It’s fantastic. Ample covered parking, very nice facility, great locker room and shower area, plenty of well-maintained cardio machines, lots of weight machines and free weights. Feels like a “small” gym with mega gym amenities. I haven’t taken a class yet, but from glimpses in, folks are working hard and having a good time. I’m so glad this is my new home gym.

The management is awful and I can't stand businesses with bad management. I am a business owner so I know how important it is to put the customer first, but at Aspen, they don't abide by this very basic business rule. They are very unfriendly, don't acknowledge you, and basically act like you are in their way. They have false advertising that tricks you into thinking they have a low monthly fee but then they charge you this "club fee" once a year in January. So I figure if you join in Feb and cancel in October you'll really get the rate they advertise. They are unfriendly, don't provide towels and the thing that bugs me most is little things, like no tissues in the locker rooms and no bumpers on the locker doors so they are really loud and bang shut. I know that's being picky but it's just all adds up to bad management. It's the most convenient club to my home so I wish they were better, but I'll drive farther for a place that cares that I am there!

Called once about prices and then received non stop texts from them about offers. Even after i repeatedly asked to stop texting me constantly, they just flat out don't care. After the 20th time I had to threaten to press charges for harassment by calling the police and then the texts stopped. Weird. Can't stand the management at this place. My son joined 10 months ago. Shortly after, he developed a medical condition and has never worked out here. The refuse to cancel his membership without a huge fee. I've been paying his monthly fees to keep his credit clean only to find out the person signed him to a 30 month contract. He's had 2 surgeries and is preparing for a 3rd and will not be able to to work out for as long as he has this contract. Thanks for adding to his pain Genesis!

Good location but it’s on the smaller side. Only main complaint is the door to the SAUNA doesn’t seal. Not only does it not seal, it doesn’t even shut! It’s supposed to be HOT which is impossible if the door is open... PLEASE fix

I cannot tell you how many problems I have had with the management. Every time a new charge pops up on my account there is a new excuse as to why I was billed. Anywhere from late fees, to incorrect billing cycles, to "it was the old management", and "I'll take care of it". A lot of empty promises in fixing incorrect charges. Nothing gets done. I would not recommend this location to anyone.

Love the location. I really like the big windows bringing brightness into the workout spaces. I also think this has the best locker room in any gym I have ever seen.

I had a terrible experience here. At first they seemed nice. Everyone wanted to help me and sign me up for this and for that. I cancelled (by physically going in and signing my name) and continued to get billed by this terrible place. Once I realized I was still getting billed I called four times and nobody could find my information. I was told each time that I would get called back, but never did. I stopped in to ask a few questions but nobody there could provide any answers. I called again today and found out that they "lost" my paperwork. Sounds like a scam to make a quick $100. I'm note sure too many people keep their receipt from 3 months prior. This establishment is not one I would recommend to even my enemies.

Great gym, but they are ALWAYS OUT OF PAPER TOWELS! seriously. Always. I went to three different paper towels machines upstairs and all three were out of paper towels. There was 4-5 staff members sitting downstairs and no one had changed the rolls. I let the front desk know and they said they did not receive the shipment that day. If it was my gym, I would have gone to Walmart and bought paper towels.

This particular Genesis Gym has all that I am looking for. But don't let size fool you, the Aksarben location is very spacious.

Once I signed up for a membership, a flip switched in me, now I go almost every day, I got a personal trainer to help me get to where I want to be, and I've never felt more comfortable at the gym. I recommend Genesis to everyone. It was the best decision I made for myself! The staff are so friendly, and welcoming. They're all awesome, and they're more than willing to work with you. I all around love Genesis!

I have been going there for over a year total. Once every year they collect a $50 maintenance fee from members, but I have no idea where the money goes. There are machines that have been broken for months and they have not bought additional weights for the free weights. When I asked an employee she could not give me an answer on when a machine would be fixed and the next day told me that I have to ask the manager. I guess that's too much information to share with someone who works the counter.

Been going to this gym for a little over a year now and I have nothing bad to say. It's diverse, great location, the staff is cool, the front desk crew is dope, the equipment is in great condition, I always see personal trainers working with older or new patrons, and you get results.
