A good selection of cardio equipment and really great group fit classes including cycling, yoga, power fit, and other Les milles classes. There's not a huge selection for weight lifting but the gym usually isn't super busy so it's fine.

I go to the Core and Performance fitness , I prefer the core , they have a lot more equipment and a larger variety of cardio equipment .

Its so dark in thie north liberty gym - they need more lights- makes it a depressing place to work out

I love this place. Always open, always clean, and always welcoming. I've been looking for a good gym for a while, and I finally found the perfect one for me. The price here is really nice compared to most gyms that I've tried before. The student discount makes the price even lower which is awesome. I like that they have a women's only section. Still need to try their smoothies though!

Attempting to cancel my membership. Barely used it. After two emails, the management will apparently not allow any cancellation except by filling out a form in person in the club. They re-sent me a copy of my initial contract to 'remind' me that I had agreed to this when I signed up. This lack of flexibility is not acceptable. Good thing I haven't moved away, but what if I had? I am a busy resident at the hospital, working 80 hours per week. Probably many of their members are residents. They should get to know the needs of their members more- it is not a trivial thing for us to have to make a separate trip, take another half hour or more away from our families just to sign a piece of paper in person. I would recommend against joining this gym if you are a person, like me, who needs flexibility.

The machines and facilities need updating. Machines are commonly broke and take forever to get fixed. The plates are never organized and sometimes hard to find. Some of the personal trainers are great, while others are not very perso able and will take equipment and not return it when they are done with their client. It has a steam room that is commonly out of order, and a sauna that they tell you not to humidify. The kids club, womens only room (I've never been in it but hear it is nice), and classes are the reason NL Core gets 3 stars and not 2.

Just to come try the gym is $15.00 and then after the fact when I'm done the guy tells me I could've did a one day trial for free. And no I didn't get my money back.

I joined Core because they have a sauna and that’s part of my self-care managing chronic Lyme. I started taking yoga classes, which I really like, and they added Pilates (yay!!) in September. I enjoy the instructors thus far. I did my jumpstart with Adrienne, and she had me do a great workout that got me going with a different workout design. If you need a trainer, she’s great, and the next day you will know you worked out with her! She did lots of customization for me as well, which was appreciated. I love that you don’t have obnoxious bright lighting. The free weight area is nice. I like that it’s not over crowded because some places put too much in a small space. I like the rowing machine. The staff at NL is great and I’d highly recommend it.
