Great first experience at CTF-Lakeview! Easily accessible via public transit (Addison Redline or 36 bus) and located near great restaurants for post workout. Very welcoming staff who showed me around and gave me a rundown of the class. Big bonus for having showers and the ability to reserve the showers. The class I took was a 9am Total Body with Kathryn who was GREAT! I have taken a bunch of group fitness classes before and have had good and bad experiences. Kathryn explained each movement and exercise which was great for someone taking the class for the first time. The class was broken down into 3 sets of various exercises (treadmill/floor) that were challenging every muscle in the body. Strength and cardio were pushed to the limits leaving me still sore the next day! After the workout Kathryn led us through a couple stretches and updated us on the happenings at CTF which is great to be informed about upcoming classes. We definitely be coming back for more!

This is a great gym with great culture from top down. The front desk staff treats you like they have known you forever. The workouts are also spot on -- I always come out feeling great. The workouts are diverse so you will hit all muscle groups multiple times a week.

CrossTown Fitness is one one my favorite gyms to do classes at. I've attended Total Body and Total Body Strength classes with instructors Danny Skelly, Liu Gross, and Stephanie Roundtree and had a great workout every time! The classes tend to have many different rotations, so they're never boring, but it can be hard to remember what you're supposed to be doing; however, the instructors are great at guiding you whenever you're confused or have questions. My favorite gym in Lakeview!

This is one of the best gym experiences I’ve had in Chicago. The classes are amazing, the instructors are great. The workouts can be pretty intense but it’s also acceptable to go at your own pace, which I love. The facilities are always very clean as well, which is great. 10/10 would recommend

Exceptional HIIT workouts with crossfit moves, strength building and cardio. The trainers clearly communicate and demonstrate each move, and then continue to surveil and adjust our form in class. Guaranteed a full body workout with every Total Body class. The 30 min cardio classes are also in interval form, making them very scalable to any energy or fitness level. Even on a day when I feel sore or not my best I can use lower weights or less reps and still show up for an efficient use of my time without feeling intimidated. I appreciate that we don’t compete against one another, music is fun and not deafening, bathrooms showers towels wipes provided, seemingly clean gym without odor, easy in and out, easy street parking out front, and friendly staff. Classes are not cheap but look for groupon deals to get you started!

This gym does a great job of pushing you outside your comfort zone with new moves, all sectioned in various stations. I love that it's different every time, and the variety of moves/timing/sets/repetitions makes the class go by so quickly. The instructors are knowledgeable and great at correcting form in a polite way. My only issue is that I do feel it's catered more to an experienced person when it comes to fitness. I sometimes have a hard time on some of the equipment specifically, like pull-ups with bands or various kettle bell moves that might feel awkward at first. They do show modifications, which is helpful. And it's great to be pushed past your current level, just more something to note if you are a beginner or not as experienced on an array of equipment and props.

Absolutely love Crosstown Northside! Every workout is challenging but can be scaled to any fitness level and ability. I like that most of the workouts are anchored around variations of functional movements, so you can track your progress and feel encouraged to pick up heavier weights over time. Good stuff here. Lots of interval training, with options of strength-focused (minimal cardio) or more balanced (with plenty of cardio). I also did a mobility class that was all pressure-point work, which relieved my (quite) sore muscles from the classes I took earlier in the week. Trainers are very good about correcting form, especially with newcomers. Relaxed group, non-judgmental, encouraging (but, thankfully, without the weird insider cult-like vibe that could easily be present at a place like this). All around great experiences!

Crosstown fitness I did on a slight whim. I knew I wanted to get in better shape for a big trip coming up, but didn't know how much I'd like it. I really loved it. The instructors are both kind and patient. I've asked how to deadlift maybe 7x and they always patiently explain it. Really glad this place exists.

Love going to CTF! If you go consistently you will see results quickly. The total body strength workout was an intense workout and they had super friendly staff. The trainer, Amy, was super helpful and helped me find modifications for things that I was just not strong enough for. She introduced herself to me just before class started and made sure to let me know what the class was about and to see if I had any questions. I'm super sore today from that workout but it's a good sore that I haven't felt in a while.

I'm hooked. I'm a runner first, but have found adding a weekly CrossTown fitness class to my routine has improved my race performance, fitness, and physique. The offer a great balance of upper body, lower body, and core, and the variety keeps them enjoyable and challenging. Caullen Hudson in particular also does an excellent job of keeping everyone in good form and making sure we get the most out of the workouts. Love the soundtrack too.

Love CTF (all location) but primarily go to the Lakeview location. I have tried many HIT style gyms and CTF is definitely one of my favorites in the city. I always leave feeling pushed and like I worked my hardest. The instructors are super positive and provide great feedback! I love that I've been going for two years and there's nothing to get tired of! Each class is different and each instructor has his/her own style. I usually leave covered in sweat and feel like I got my butt kicked no matter how great of shape I think I'm in. It could be a tad bit heavier on the cardio, but that's something I could regulate on my own. CTF does offer the run classes that could take care of that as well.

Are you looking to get in shape or are you looking to get in better shape? If you are the former, like me, this place is not for you. I signed up for a 2 week trial and have been to four sessions so far. I have never felt more out of place and out of my league. This place is for younger people who are already in shape and looking to improve. The instructors briefly demonstrate the exercises and then spend most of the session keeping time. They don't offer alternative exercises if you struggle with what's scheduled. They barely check to see if you know proper form. I am middle aged and overweight and trying to improve myself. This studio makes me feel even worse about my fitness because I can't keep up with everyone else and they don't make any effort to make new people feel welcome and supported. If you are younger and in good shape, this place will push you to new levels. You'll get a great workout. Avoid Saturday morning. They overbook the classes. The one I went to had over 35 people working out in a very tight space.

Everything about the CTF team and facilities makes me homesick. The only reason I'm still not there every morning is because I moved out of state. Steven and the folks who run the place behind the scenes... Are nothing but accomodating and supportive! No matter if it's just checking into a 5am class or a question via email, their responsiveness and positivity is radiating. They even helped me to come back easily on visits, to use my class package after my membership ended. All of the trainers I've had the chance to work with and grow from - Amy, Stacy, Kathryn, Alysha, Joey, Danny, Jess, Jenna and on are hands down the best collection of people I love working out with and being around. I made a strong commitment to myself, to work out with your crew diligently (usually 6am North Side), to start at 3 times a week with my body aching every day and move up to 5-6 days a week. You each helped me accomplish a consistent goal in my life (and feel so fantastic and confident) during a time when my life was pure chaos and challenge personally. When things were just crumbling on a diligent basis... You helped me understand why I deserved at least an hour a day to be better. To take control of some unforseen goal and deliver and push it. As an outsider I was a little intimidated by CTF, but I joined with a two-week pass to try it. From the first class my pre-conception was gone! Even though the workouts are hard, you can decide how much you want to push yourself. I started working with the lightest weights and little by little have been improving. The trainers are incredible, everyone has a different style, but their kindness is a common factor. They push you but don’t humiliate you, they are willing to modify any exercise if you have an injury, and are looking after you throughout the workout. The people that goes to workout at CTF are always nice too. At the beginning I was always confused and/or lost, and other CTF members never hesitated to help me. As for CTF staff, they are nice and kind as well! I never thought I would be one of those people that workout several times a week, but now I am! And it feels wonderful.

This facility and its staff have reminded me of what I'm capable of and is restoring my self-confidence, class by class. I live just a couple blocks away and have walked by CTF several times with my dog, the energy was always through the roof, the music was always good and loud, and I always wondered about the work-outs. I did something I rarely ever do, I checked out Groupon, and discovered an offer I couldn't refuse. Fast forward a few days later and I was attending my first Monday evening class with coach Tom. At first, I was intimidated and ashamed of myself when I looked at my reflection in the wall of mirrors but I was quickly reminded why I was there, to work on the current ME. It would have been easy to focus on the shame I've felt about my fitness or severe lack thereof over the last few years or how exercises and weights that used to be easy for me were laughably challenging BUT the class and environment forced otherwise. Coach Tom, Liu, Ryan, and Caullen (these are the coaches I've taken the most classes with) are focused on form above everything else and that is exactly what I'm accustomed to; they operate their classes in such a way that ignites determination and focus while also keeping it fun and supportive of those attending class around you. I have been physically challenged since day one and I haven't looked back since. Mentally, I have begun to remember what I am capable of and that my goals are important and applicable now, whereas my goals three years ago were important and applicable then. I have been reminded that I am attaining goals and setting new ones based on who I am now and it is reaffirming that change and growth are good; it is reaffirming that shame will only set me back and hold me down. This may all sound way heavier to most people as they may question the depth of what one can achieve by discovering the right coaches and environment but this is what the right coaches and environment do for me (both physically and mentally) and I could not be more thankful to the staff at CTF Wrigleyville/Northside. You have acquired a new, loyal, and proud member of the CTF family.

Coming from a Barre and Pilates background, I bought a Crosstown Groupon because it was the closest gym to me, but was scared to use it thinking it was a CrossFit gym and not really my style. I finally used it and haven't looked back! First off, they aren't CrossFit- they're HIIT workouts. They have both strength and cardio style workouts, but you can work at your own pace. There is no judgement! How hard you push it is completely up to you. Every class is different, they fly by... and honestly, I think they're fun! The instructors are amazing and very personable. They push you, but in an encouraging "you've got this" way, not a "drop and give me 20!" militant style way. I always walk out feeling so much better about my day. I HIGHLY suggest this gym.
