Top notch instruction and great training partners at the fundamental and advanced competitor level. My background is in boxing, but personal schedule only allowed for morning. So I did 7AM Jiujitsu, and Monday PM Judo. Absolutely loved it. And days I feel like boxing, I'd treat myself to the 8:00 AM class with legit boxing trainers. Train for competition, just some sparring, or to meet personal fitness goals: Combat Fitness is a friendly, welcoming environment for all to learn, grow and improve physically and mentally. Great for kids too. Sadly, I took a job requiring relocation to a larger city - yet had no SBG academy, and absolutely NO acceptable substitutes. Privelage to train here, and most importantly outstanding people, both staff and members alike. Definitely will stop by for training sessions and to see friends when I visit Boise.

I have been training here for over 3 years now and feel really lucky to have found this place. It’s a big gym that feels like a small gym where culture is inclusive, friendly and fun. I came in not knowing anyone or anything, and ended up making some of my best friends. They have a solid beginners program so you don’t get lost or thrown in over your head. The coaches are patient, kind, knowledgeable and generous with their time. I have the opportunity to roll with a diverse group of people from high level black belts to those just starting out and I can honestly say anyone would feel welcome here.

Jake Berryman

I can say this is the premier facility in boise for MMA training. So far that 2 stars. But they dont post their schedule online and rely on consultations and sales pitches to get you in the door and that is super bogus. Just post the schedule and the pricing. Make it clean and straightforward because if you gym is worth it people will come and access to key information is important to people who don't have time to waste on a full consultation if the times dont work for them and the price doesn't work for them. Any objection to these basic requests is not valid and should be considered nothing more than an attempt to bait and switch or give the ole' sales pitch. They even let me walk a a potential 2 person membership because they "don't provide schedule and pricing over email or phone". This is not a practice by the best in the fight industry, this is a practice of car salesman.

Trainers are very rude, disrespectful, and cocky!!! Jesse tries to tell grown men how to spend their money and they can't join any gym. If they go to a different gym is because your gym is lacking it!!!

Charles Roe

Incompetent workers don’t know what they’re doing

Combat Fitness is the place to train in Boise, ID. I've worked out here for a summer in 08 and from the fall of 12 to present. Combat Fitness is full of amazing coaches and people. The environment is very friendly to people of all experience levels and is a very welcoming environment. I mostly train BJJ (blue belt) and find myself constantly challenged and learning from everyone in the gym. This is an awesome institution and anyone interested in bjj, mma, or fitness should go here.

I just joined Combat last week, and met with Jesse during my consultation. This is more of a review of the consultation process because to be honest I have yet to kick off the Foundations program itself because of being out of town and then getting sick this week. I read a review below from someone named Drew, and thought I should review the process as well since I also met with Jesse and it sounds like me and drew are dealing with some of the same weight issues. To put everything on the table and for the honesty of reviewing businesses which are people's and families livelihood, I want to disclose that I signed up for the program last week and im already starting to pay for it. Also, I am 6'6" and about 375lbs. At one point I was a very athletic person but as you can see from my weight, I'd be hard pressed to find someone to call me that now days. In the last 10 years I've paid for (and barely used) enough standard gym memberships to give everyone on Google a free year. Which is why I purposely sought out a different format of getting in shape. I looked and spent several days researching all of the "MMA Style" gyms within 40 miles of my house in Boise. And hands down, everything pointed me to contacting Combat Fitness. I advise everyone to do the same and just research it and come up with with your own decision. It wasn't hard for me to come to this conclusion. With that being said, this isn't your normal gym. Which is why it is so highly rated. If someone is looking to speak with a smiling salesmen at the consultation that will just tell you what ever they have to in order to get you to open up your wallet, you will have to go to a normal gym. The guys at Combat, and I got this from Jesse as well, they become like a family and want you to succeed in your goals. On top of that it's very affordable (im lower middle class man with a family) and that was a major factor. And lastly, like I mentioned, I am classified as morbidly obese. And not one time did I ever feel like I was being looked at like I'm out of place. It's actually to the contrary, I was the one with the apprehension, and Jesse encouraged me and made me fill comfortable about joining Combat. The only time weight came up and topics about being out of shape, was when I brought them up. I'm not going to pretend like I'm not who I am, but it wasn't a factor one bit. Anyways, I'll finally be starting the foundations program this Friday. Although I'm still apprehensive because of my lack of athleticism, I'm very much looking forward to getting in shape again cause it's been to long and learning how to defend myself and my family if ever needed in hand to hand combat. And I know I'm in good hands at Combat Fitness. Ryan

Combat Fitness has been extremely helpful for me. All the trainer's take the time to explain every step . As well as take time out of their respective days to do personal classes .

My son has been in the Kids MMA class @Combat Fitness for 3 months and everything has been great. From day 1 the instructors have been very welcoming and patient with the kids providing a very comfortable leaning environment. On any given day you can have everything from a first day student to a UFC fighter training at the same time. Definitely the go-to gym in Idaho!

Ayako VanHoose

My entire family is so thankful to the entire team at Combat Fitness. From returning our emails before we arrived, to welcoming us to the gym, to the outstanding training our kids receive every day Combat never failed to impress. It's been amazing to watch how much our kids have grown and developed as fighters and professionals, and that's thanks to all the effort and sweat of the outstanding staff and trainers. As people who have trained at the very best gyms in Japan and Thailand, I can confidently say Combat Fitness is a world class organization that will no doubt produce future champions.

Francisco Villegascota

staff are friendly, car salesman approach to membership, I left the state on a project assuming my account was frozen, came back to a notice from a collection agency. be aware of predatory contract, otherwise they are ok.

Autumn Ellis

When my friends and I first came to combat fitness we were a bit skeptical. However, after consultation we were so excited to get started. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the class size and level was perfect for us. The first class exceeded expectations. We were immediately welcomed into the class and the trainers didn't hesitate to help us when we were struggling. The class is challenging but rewarding. We can't wait to see the results in the coming sessions.

Combat Fitness, There are a lot of things I enjoy about this gym. One of the main ones that make it so great is the way they make you seem like you are welcome, no matter what your skill level it doesn’t matter to them and they will take the time to explain and demonstrate. Even better than that, my fellow trainees I expected to be focused entirely on themselves and advancing themselves rather than taking the time to help others like me. Despite my assumptions, it was totally on the contrary. They took time out of their training to come help me with anything I needed. The instructors are superb, they have better patience than I would ever expect and they aren’t going to rest until I understand exactly what I’m doing. I absolutely love this gym and I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else, I can already tell I am going to excel very well using this program.

East coast Niqqa

The little guy is rude. Went for the free Muay Thai private class , he told me I was out of shape several times. I'm 5"11 182 lbs. wouldn't recommend .. Better off doing Richard simmons

I moved to idaho 3 years ago and started training at sbg shortly thereafter. The staff and coaching at SBG Idaho have been amazing. My son has been working through their kids jiu jitsu program for the past two years and I am very grateful for their time and effort with him. If you're an adult looking to get in shape or you have children that need a healthy activity this is the place you want to be. Thank you to all of the staff for sharing your passion with the community in boise.

Jake Hayes

Best training in town, hands down.

I've joined several gyms in my lifetime. Entering any sport as a women can be intimidating, but I NEVER experienced that at Combat Fitness SBGi. I took the first free week to get a feel for the trainers and the club member. At the end of my trial week, I was hooked!!! I was treated with respect and given just as much challenge in my training as any other member of the club. I've been a member now for 8 months and still going strong. I am learning Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, and Judo while attending the Fight Fit class for conditioning. The trainers know their stuff and everyone is willing to share their knowledge and there are so many times and classes to choose from. The members and trainers are a big family and everyone supports each other. This makes Combat Fitness SBGi the best gym in the Treasure Valley!!!

I began training at CF in August of 2015. Coming in I had no wrestling or martial arts background, I was a gym rat that trained at the big name gyms in town. I was finally sick of seeing the fashion show and egos that come with those places. Walking into CF for the first time was a bit intimidating, I had checked out other MMA\BJJ gyms in town and didn’t feel like I fit in at those places. CF was different, I recognized people from different places I hung out and was immediately greeted and everyone made sure I knew where to go and who to talk to. I had an interest in Jiu-Jitsu and took my first class with Coach Jesse. I’m a bigger and slower guy so I didn’t know how this was going to workout. The group classes are a broad lesson of techniques, but as you work through the drills, the coaches adjusted techniques for my body type and fight style. I was immediately hooked. After a while I added Striking with Coach Mike Ransom and More BJJ with Coach Brad. Everything about this gym is great, especially the coaches, but the best part is No Egos. Everyone supports each other and wants to see progression. Combat Fitness is top notch.

I think combat fitness is awesome. Michael is a good teacher.

Colin Hickman

Combat Fitness is unequivocally the best gym I have ever been a part of. The trainers are skilled, professional, encouraging and motivating. I was a complete beginner, and never once felt out of place. It’s a welcoming environment, no matter what your skill level. Thanks to everyone at Combat Fitness…I have, and will to continue to recommend Combat Fitness to everyone.

Taylan

Combat Fitness is an awesome MMA gym. Ever since I walked in I've felt the friendly vibe, only for the first few minutes that I was there I felt anxious, but after just one class I felt right at home. Awesome gym.

SBG has been the best thing that has happened to our family. My Son and grandkids attend classes here. The coaches are amazing. They teach not only skill but life lessons. The gym and its members are family now. My son has gone from low grades to straight A’s. His confidence has grown and his learning abilities have excelled. I can not say enough about this gym. SBG is an international gym. When we travel we always look for one of the SBG gyms. The members and coaches at all these gyms have a genuine interest is all the members. They are always helpful and gracious. My son has met so many people that I believe they will be in our extended family for the rest of our lives. When we travel for tournaments you will always have someone there for you. I LOVE this gym, the people and coaches. Thank you SBG!

Allissa Cruz

My friends and I are extremely impressed with this facility. We looked at other options before picking this one. The training staff are well qualified and extremely helpful during classes. If we struggled they were right there to help and explain new concepts. We are excited to see results from the training we are receiving. Even though we have only been to a few classes we can begin to see result and can't wait to continue our fitness and boxing programs.

Grayson Walker

Great gym with great staff.

Patriot Auto Glass

SBG is awesome! I came in with no experience, a little nervous of what to expect. Muay Thai classes has been addicting. Michael and Jesse are awesome coaches. It has been an awesome experience and has helped build a passion for martial arts. Thanks SBG Idaho.

Excellent staff!!!! They are very friendly and really take the time to make sure you understand the techniques and I really appreciate them making the training environment conducive for the new people. It was a little intimidating being around people that have been doing bjj for years but they made me feel very comfortable and make me excited to be in the classes learning new things. If you are interested in learning I highly recommend this gym!!!

Koby Conrad

Was looking at this place for Mauy Thai classes, Jesse runs a very cool gym. Pretty big facility for Boise and it has a really good vibe.

Andrew Silva

From the first visit I could tell that the staff was highly knowledgeable in their fields of expertise. I was greeted by Brad (jiu-jitsu coach), he was very friendly, and gave my daughter and I a quick, but fun training session. The coaches seem very patient with their students. I cannot wait to continue my training.

Brad

I have been looking for a good gym to train different fighting styles in for a while now and have recently found Combat Fitness. The first time I came in I was skeptical, just like every other gym I've checked out. Once I watched some classes and got to know some of the people who attend and work there, I was feeling more and more confident that combat fitness was the place I wanted to train.

I love this gym I go there 4 days a week and it is amazing

I've been training at combat fitness for the last few months, this place has changed not only physically but mentally as well . The trainers and training partners are great . They work with you on your technique and there's a lot of respect amongst everyone . I truly love training here and recommend it to anyone looking to build their confidence, mental strength along with your physical abilities .

Combat fitness has been a great way to get back into shape and I love how professional they are. They are not only great with advanced fighters but are amazing with beginners as well. They are very patient and will break down the basics for new comers to grasp. I look forward to spending the next 6 months with them to build basic fighting knowledge from the best in Boise. They’re facility is very well equipped and clean. :)

Kang SH

Friendly staff, great facility. Located downtown-with noon classes to accommodate lunch hour workouts. Great vibe. Excited to see how I progress in my fitness goals as I engage in the training.

Kameron Moore

Best place to train MMA or BJJ. Best facility with best trainers. Most professionally run gym you will find.

Guido7

Great gym!! Have been training at CF for 4 years. Trainers are top notch in muay thai, boxing, and jiu jitsu. BEST IN IDAHO!

When I travel, rather than just work out in a hotel gym on treadmills and stationary bikes, I like to visit MMA gyms in the area and do drop-in classes. I spent a week in Boise and had a chance to do two Muay Thai classes at Combat Fitness. You guys in Boise are lucky to have such a great facility with experienced and qualified instructors. Also, they were very responsive and professional as well, and the facility is good condition and very clean. Highly recommended!

Mike S. Rice

A month into my membership I am pleasantly surprised. Everyone is much more friendly and helpful than I expected. To be honest I looked at other facilities first figuring this one was for high level and competitive MMA folks. While highly skilled athletes are there, most participants are regular folks like me. I am the typical over weight middle aged guy needing something more physical. As a rank beginner the trainers have been helpful, and willing to talk and work with you after class. All levels of skill and fitness are welcome, and everyone is encouraged to challenge themselves at their level. No condescending attitudes, bullying or shaming, they are glad you are there making and effort to improve yourself. Elderly, over weight, and non-athletes will find a home here, as well as competitive athletes. Safety and cleanliness are always a priority. The rates are reasonable when compared to other facilities. The only negative I have encountered so far is parking space. My experience has been pleasant, and I plan to continue attending.

Tejas Shetty

Great professional martial arts training facility. I trained here for over a year and my experience was exceptional. I could easily see my skill level increasing every week by the nature of their training method. I read some negative reviews towards Jesse but for sure those are fake accounts. Jesse did my consultation too and the first person I met at combat fitness and he was truly down to earth guy. Although I never trained with him but he still said hello every time I saw him. Nobody in the gym, the trainers or the people who come to practice are rude. Fees can be slightly expensive but I guess that goes for all martial arts gyms around here. Highly recommend.

allan settlemire

I would have been training here almost 2 years if it wasn't for a bit and run and other life challenges so far in a year give or take a couple more months I have lost a total of 50 lbs yeah they are a bit bossy but they push you and guide you to meet or exceed your goals I love everything about this gym the atmosphere no one makes fun of you I know when I first came in at 300lbs I had alot to prove. I'm not new to martial arts I fought underground for years then retired Jesse Brock is teaching me the proper way to do MMA he has been an amazing coach to me and I will continue training here even after I go pro one day but like he always tells me show up be consistent and everything will fall into place I'll be back soon coach thank you

I'm in Boise traveling and I rolled into Combat Fitness. Easily accessible by you Travelers in Tech choosing the downtown corridor. This place is in a great spot off Americana Ave (great coincidence???) Anyways, a fighter in training quickly stopped by the entrance and greated me with a great attitude considering this walk-in wanderer just parked the bike and popped in. Brad and Matt did a great job in my one-one session we scheduled before signing/paying for anything. They wanted a feel for my BJJ level, even loaned me a Gi and showed up first thing Monday morning to walk me through the process. I'm signed up and training and addicted again...

JiuJitsuMagic

I had the opportunity to train today at combat fitness SBG and the coaches and students are amazing. They have people at all levels and are extremely welcoming to people dropping in. If you are new and looking for a place to start they have instructors and classes for all levels. The class was well taught and structured. At the end of class there's an opportunity to roll live. Looking forward to coming back. Thanks again to everyone there.. Chrismagicphotography

A very great place to train. The trainers are very helpful and hospitable and I learned a lot in each lesson. They have a straightforward and easy to understand method of teaching and everyone wants everyone else to get better. Definitely recommend!

The level of coaching here with Jesse, Brad, Scott and the crew is another level.

Mitch Ryan Butt Connor

I joined the gym a few weeks ago with no prior fighting experience. When I originally looked into joining a combat gym I thought it would be a bunch of brutes who would make fun of my lack of experience and coordination. To my surprise everyone I have met at the gym has been super supportive and the classes are challenging but with a very encouraging atmosphere. You can tell that the instructors are passionate about what they do and give you the tools to take the sport as far as you choose.

Steven Baker

I've known Jesse for over 8 years as his chiropractor and have gotten to know his character. He is the most down to earth and genuine person you will meet. Been training with him now for over 6 months and nothing but great things to say about his coaching, the facility, and the rest of the people who work and train there.

David Dickman

Awesome Tribe if people. I love training with these folks whenever I get the chance. Stop through!

tom dixon

Combat Fitness is an ideal place for MMA hopefuls, because its instructors are active and successful pro MMA fighters, but it's also a good gym for folks that just want to get in shape or learn combat sports for fun, fitness or self defense. Counter to what some might assume about a gym run by MMA practitioners, the culture or "vibe" is laid back and friendly; however, this is not to say that the training can't be intense- it is as tough as you want/need it to be. After attending a few classes during the free week offered to newcomers, I was happy to find that Combat Fitness is a great fit for me and I now train there as often as I can.

Courtney Yamada-Anderson

The staff and facility at Combat Fitness Boise are great! I am new to the world of MMA and Matt was very helpful and informative as he took me through my free one on one session. I signed up for the basic package and have been doing the Fight Fit classes and Brazilian Ju Jitsu. Both Jesse and Brad have been super encouraging and helpful as this is all new for me. Fight Fit is a fun new way to get in a killer workout. Great place with great people!

Nick Shultz

This is my home away from home. I’ve been training here for 6-7 years. The skill sets and friendships I’ve made here are priceless to me. You won’t go wrong trying SBG out.

Almir Talic

I've been training here for about 3 years and it has been the best choice of my life! Great people! Great community! Love this place!
