Very nice facility. Very clean , spacious,no-much foul smell. Most of the classes are good. They are always full though. Gym is a bit pricey but then they do provide a lot of amenities.

Such a great facility. Clean, friendly staff. Beautiful. Just don't leave shoes in the locker room. I had a new pair stolen overnight. I was late out and early in and they were gone. They were in a locker in the corner. Someone was going through them. Was it workers? IDK, but I still love that place.

After 20 years of going to the YMCA I had to sadly change my good review to 1 star after a shocking threatening email received by YMCA corporate this July 2017 - I will be posting the email on my Twitter and blog soon. YMCA Corporate has threatened to call police and I will be arrested if I ever go there all of a sudden out of the blue for no legitimate reason! I talked to Jimmy a member at Dr Phillips (we met at Publix) about it and he is also was shocked from the sudden cold blooded email sent to me and agreed that is very uncharitable prejudicial and unchristian. Greedy corporate refuses to give an explanation! I was told that the YMCA is funded by rich people and rich religion leaders and politicians (I looked it up myself and it turns out that it's true!) such as corrupted Jerry Demings. After my bad review on Google about the Orange County sheriff's office and corrupted Jerry Demings, I am suddenly not allowed in any central Florida ymca for no legitimate reason and they threaten to call OCSO. Abuse of power of the rich! My friend told me that Kat Westby (now trying to be a fitness instructor) was badmouthing me to members of the YMCA with her rich stuck up alike evil mother Peggy Westby. This sudden prejudicial action is nasty unchristian and abusive, the OCSO trying to ruin my dreams, taking away my freedom and happiness using high political rich connections at the YMCA of central Florida. The truth about this corrupted agency will still come out and the corruption in the OCSO will be exposed! The YMCA has sadly shown their true colors and they are made of cold blooded Greed! The charitable part of the ymca is clearly just a front for them to look good. It's all about how things looks for these rich phonies! Lead by rich politicians religious leaders and they make all the rules! The charity part is just a front for them to look good. They don't really care if you are homeless or can not pay. They advertise that they don't turn people away for their inability to pay (false advertisement) yet they turned me away cold blooded for no legitimate reason, I did nothing wrong! I've emailed the CEO Dan Wilcox and he refused to give an explanation. They told me they don't need to give me an explanation and I can't go to any central Florida ymca or I will be arrested. Abuse of the rich and powerful continues! Shame on the YMCA! False charity false prophets! Phonies!

Nothing but good things to say about the staff; knowledgeable, professional, cheerful. But it appears the management has become afflicted with the generational disease sweeping America- the easy money virus. I’m retired and been a loyal member for 16 years. Used to be when you went north, as a huge percentage of the population does here in April, there were no hassles. Now, your membership can only be put on hold for 3 months. So if I’m up north paying for a Y membership there, I still need to pay the full rate here. Great idea for retirees. In addition, I get charged a $10 processing fee when the membership is on hold. What are you guys, a cable TV company? There’s no equipment of mine at your facility. And what’s to process? The only thing you’re processing is the ching-ching of my credit card, for doing nothing. But that’s not all. Unless you notify them you want to go on hold 30 days in advance, you get charged another full month’s fee. I guess it takes 30 days for the message to filter down through that massive bureaucracy. What are you guys, Exxon Mobil or the local YMCA? You guys have gotten way too full of yourselves and my family will be going elsewhere to exercise.

Im a tourist , I come every year to Florida and visit the closest YMCA to my hotel. This is the first Y that has denied my entry. The receptionist lady was rude and didnt give me any options , she clearly didnt want to let me in even though there is a daily fee in wich you can pay to enter, i know this because ive done it in other YMCA'S. When i told her about the daily-fee she said there was no such thing and quickly removed me from the facilities. Very poor service , they lack proactivity , and social skills. Maybe she treated me that way because im a minority.

This is by far and away the best family fitness facility in the southeast! Although it is expanding in physical size and class offerings, it is nice to know it still retains its' community and family atmosphere. It has a strong leadership team and the best Zumba instructor in the southeast! Thank you Michele for introducing and welcoming my autistic daughter to the joys of Zumba! Thank you, also, to the best instructors and personal trainers in town!

I'd estimate at least 10 cars had their windows smashed out and items stolen from them today. Other members stated that this also happened last Friday as well. For a membership rate of $130 a month they need to in my opinion provide security in the parking lot if they are having theft problems and having signs posted in the parking lot to take your valuables in is not enough.

We had the kids signed up for an activity but the kids did not like it, so the week after I went to the club and canceled it, so the person in charge agreed to refund a full amount, this is been since April until now in July I did not get my refund, I went back and the same guy said that he forgot (conveniently) to do the refund. That is not right.

I have visited a lotYMCAs throughout the nation, while on business or personal travel. This YMCA is one of my favorites. Every YMCA should have tvs on every machines, complimentary towels and water, a very friendly staff and a very clean facility. I am not sure you can ask for anything more! Except one of the fitness monitors brought me a cup of water, while I was on the machine, just because shs wanted to. I am a RAVING FAN now! That was too much! Personal attention by trainers in classes can definitely be improved. As of today, the trainer just continues on their own pace not caring about the folks who may be new and learning it for first time. They don't even have concept of batches for beginners / experienced etc. Otherwise the place is good, friendly, neat and clean. Fee is like any other gym, a little on the costlier side of things.

I have been a member of several YMCA's. In fact Dr. Phillips is not my original YMCA. On the other hand, after visiting the Dr. Phillips YMCA, it became our YMCA. The staff is friendly and helpful. One of the things I like about it here is how they treat my 74-year-old mom. She says they treat her like a princess. She loves her Zumba classes. The Zumba instructor, Michelle, is kind, patient and motivating. She encourages her students to do their best. The class is full of energy and is a joy to attend.

My son started YMCA swimming class in November 8th, 2016. He is three years old, when we registered him we said he could not float on his own and they supposedly would put him on an appropriate class for his age and swimming skills. Right on the first class I noted the lack of teaching methodologies and techniques; however, the worst part is that on a big size pool, they only had one life guard that was on the opposite side of where the young kids were taking class. My son started to drown and when I was ready to jump on the pool the teacher realized and saved him. I didn’t blame the teacher as he was working with 5 kids that day, with ages between 3 to 6, he could not do so much. The lifeguard didn’t even saw what happened. When my son left the class, I explained what happened in the front desk, who was just given me excuses saying that they have a lifeguard. On the next class, the only change was the teacher, and I thought I made clear that I didn’t blame the teacher, so every single class I had my chair next to the pool to be my son life guard; however, today, I was calling a speech therapist for my son, and when I realized I heard my son doing a loud sound, he was going under water and coming back with this loud sound, when I realized what was happening the teacher was going to save him, he was drowning, this time was worthy and my son was so afraid that when the teacher put him on the board he came running to me, and when I asked if he wants to come home, he said yes right way. My son loves pool and swimming class, so if he was saying yes, it means he was really scared of what just happened. I was so in chock and mad that I went to the front desk, but this time I asked to talk with a manager, to make sure they understand how bad this situation is, when I started to explain to the manager, he saw how shaking I was and he called the director, so he could provide the right changes. For the manager and my own surprise, the director was just trying to come up with excuses, he didn’t acknowledge how dangerous the situation is and he didn’t recognized that they need to improve their system. My son could attend more two classes there, and he stayed for less than 10 minutes today, but I will never more bring my son to this place and I do not recommend you to take your kid there either. And don’t try to tell me that all swimming classes are like this, because my son used to go to Pengu Swimming classes in Houston, and they have way better professional and infrastructure there.

The faculty is beautiful, however the classes are boring and old, especially Zumba and Latin cardio. Same boring routine from 5 years ago. They need new instructors and updated classes, fast. Better go to the Roper, the classes are fresh and updated, and the instructors are not rude or condescending like DPP. If you complain about anything at Dr. P, it goes in one ear and out the other. Sad but true.

I called because I was passing through Orlando and needed a shower, I asked if they had paid showers and Sue very rudely said no and hung up. I called again asking about the one day paid pass I saw online and she said there was no such thing and hung up on me again. I understand if you don't want the place flooded with travelers through the area but I was treated like a delinquent just for asking for a simple shower, willing to pay. I'm disappointed because I always believed the YMCA to be a great association that tried to help most people.

I was a member of the Y for 30 years. The classes are second to none. I left because a new person stalked me and confronted me about wearing midriff tops.-something I did for 30 years. With all the cleavage showing and other body parts, the last thing they need to worry about in this day and age is whether a 58 year old is wearing a midrif.

Clean facility and friendly people. They're still under construction (Mar 2016), which really doesn't get in the way. The weight machines are quite awkward, the way they move (maybe I'm just used to my home Y?). You can also tell that the facility started out smaller, and was added onto over the years, it doesn't quite fit together right. The men's locker room is at the very entrance, and the gym is all the way in the back, and you have to go outside to get there. They have some nice facilities, and pretty much everything you could ask for. Gym, pool, slide, basketball courts, child care, racquetball, etc.

I have tried several gyms in the Orlando area, and I can truly say this is the best one I have been to! Dedicated and friendly staff, incredibly clean facilities, and amazing group exercise classes. Personal trainers are also available to assist you in meeting your fitness goals. There is truly something for everyone , whether its cycling, dance classes, or any of the strength classes offered throughout the week. The renovations are coming along nicely, and it has been wonderful to be a part of the changes they are making! We have new locker rooms, a new strength studio, and a new studio for yoga classes. New multi-purpose group exercise studio and new restaurant are under construction. Come by for a tour, and you'll see just how amazing this place is! Can't recommend it highly enough.

The Dr. Phillips YMCA is the best Fitness Facility I have ever been too. It is the cleanest and most friendliest place I've ever been too. The Staff here is the best. If there is a problem they do there best to fix it. The most important thing I love about this place is the classes and the weight room and especially the different programs they have for everyone. There trainers here are also the best working with people with special needs and helping them stay active and healthy also the other thing they have are two new courts now for Racquetball and there cardio equipment is also top of the line. There is no other place on earth I rather be then right here at the Dr. Phillips YMCA. And I will continue to come here.

If you want to join a gym in SW Orlando, this is the place to join. The facility is top notch. Beautiful studios (some for cardio, some for bodypump, one for yoga.....) all state of art, with nice sound systems, wood floors and nice interiors. There is also a fairly large basketball court, a beautiful swimming pool, a state of the art exercise room with several circuits of updated exercise equipment as well as free weights. Outside is a large soccer and baseball fields. Parking is adequate and locker rooms and showers are fairly new and well designed with steam and sauna rooms. All in all a A+ facility with absolutely SUPERB staff.

Super nice YMCA. The childcare area is huge. They have an indoor cafe in the lobby. They offer tons of group classes. Very modern locker rooms. Good mix of clients of all ethnicities and fitness levels. The 30 min drive through hellish I-4 is worth it to me.

Pros: a beautiful facility with more options than most gyms Cons: it's a very popular YMCA and can get pretty busy during peak hours. My biggest dislike is that when you cancel you have to pay an additional month...kinda feels like a "money-grab" excuse. (It was winter so that's why the pool is steaming and empty)

I have been here in Dr. Philips area for last 16 years and drove by this place all the time and never thought how nice the gym is inside. I would recommend this Gym. Good equipment's, nice staff and clean. Front office staff is very friendly and Christy is awesome. No contracts and that's awesome.

We singed up my brother for swimming classes TWICE. For starters the lady who assisted us was extremely rude, gave us the wrong information and never told us we had to sign up my brother for swimming classes. just with the membership he would be automatically signed up. charged us again and he shows up today for his swimming classes and apparently there’s no swimming classes. We do not have money to blow, so waisting about $100 dollars for these swimming classes that HE HAS NOT TAKEN due to wrong information is very irritating. Also no refund is given nor a free lessons. ITS BEEN TWICE NOW! Horrible service.

This YMCA is awesome. Most of the staff are personable and welcoming.. The Zumba classes are pretty awesome! This facility is always clean and towels stocked. In my opinion everything is labeled to inform patrons of requirements and what is expected. Machines are always working and well kept. I love that this location has a wet and dry sauna! There is also lockers and changing room for guest needs. If you’re looking for a facility with perks; be sure to stop by and check them out! There is always something going on at the YMCA for the entire family.

I've been a YMCA member for 3 years, then I cancel the account for one year. I decided to rejoin YMCA last month (Feb-2018) and right after I sign up I got sick so I couldn't use the facilities. I went there today (March 21st 2018) to put the account on hold and spoke to 2 young ladies in the balcony and both said that I should pay $10 to hold the account or cancel it. If I cancel I need to pay an extra month because I didn't give the notice 30 days prior to the due date. Guys, my due date is April first and we are in March 21st, what kind of Bureaucracy is this? Who do you guys think you are? Continuing my history, I showed the lady all my doctor papers but she didn't give a damn about it, didn't even read. I felt really bad. So I will end up paying $144.00 without using the facilities. If I have zero stars I would give them zero, terrible customer service by both ladies but I only remember one name, Aline. I will never recommend this place to anyone else. Oh, now I can add photos in the review so I will post the doctors note so you will be sure I am saying the truth.

My family and I have been members for 8 years and what happened to me this past Saturday was terrible. It was 6pm on Saturday, and I was in the shower. A lady (Dianne) came to the shower, knocking at the door screaming and yelling at me that I needed to leave at that moment and rinse myself someplace else!! I know that I was at fault because I did not realize of the closing time, but she has not right to treat me like that a criminal. Then, I was getting dressed and she was standing in front of me. WHAT A LACK OF RESPECT!! I FELT THAT SHE VIOLATED MY PRIVACY. I WILL DISCONTINUE MY MEMBERSHIP IN THIS PLACE AND I WILL ADVISE TO EVERYONE NOT TO GO THERE!

My life has completely changed around ever since I have joined with them. They treat me and all of their members like we are a one big family. Currently under construction (Nov 2015) to become an even better community resource. I love going to the Dr. Phillips YMCA. It has a lot of great options for staying fit. Pools, a great gym and lots of classes. If you have a family membership you get 2 hours of childcare for free each day so you can get a workout and a shower (very nice when you have 5 month old!).

I visit both this facility and the Aquatic Center. The Dr. Phillips YMCA has recently been updated with all new equipment in the fitness center and also offers one of the most extensive class schedules across all of the YMCAs in the USA. This is also one of the flagship Ys for the Central Florida YMCA system. The staff at this branch are great and I have yet to find a bad one in the group. Always welcoming to members and guests and the fitness staff are readily available to answer questions or to give you pointers. Facility can be busy in the early part of the week after work but, it's never too horrible in my experience. Parking can also be an issue on the weekend if there are lots of youth sports going on at the nearby fields. Overall, great place to come and workout and feel welcomed. Worth the money in my opinion.

I'd give a 0 star if I could!!!I cancelled my subscription June 12th and they charged me for August. I called to complaint and a very short tempered person told me that to have back my money (that they illegally drafted) it will take 4 to 8 weeks!!! Plus I'm stlll waiting a refund for a cancelled summer camp (06/12), and so far I haven't gotten my money back!it has been almost 2 months!!!

I use this facility at 6am and 6pm both times are relatively busy but I have never waited for a machine. I would like the weight section to be bigger but I understand the space constraints. The washrooms are very clean and fresh towels are always available, mouthwash is also provided which is a nice touch.

I have been a member since 2007 and witnessed all the upgrades and changes. The dp y is more than just awsome high technological machines, amazing classes due to their instructors knowledge and encouragement, great facility,pools etc... its a community where everyone is welcome and they do everything in their power to help their members not only reach their fitness goal, but to achieve a better life. I have tried other gyms and have never found what i have at his y. The staff is so friendly and helpful, as well as the members. My favorite classes are body pump, kickboxing and rpm, but they offer a variety of different ones, whatever you are in the mood, they offer. Ive also taken water aerobics with my dad, and it was a great class to bound and help him with his exercises. They are about to open a cafe, restaurant, and other bigger room. This really is the y of the future and im so proud to be part of it! Love my dp y!

Great place! Not all the YMCA 'S offer the same thing. This one offers quite a bit, and is recently remodeled. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars if I could!

I was in Orlando for the weekend while my daughters were at a convention. My son, his friend and I needed a way to kill an afternoon and they wanted to swim. So I looked into the YMCA's and called the one at Dr. Phillips. They told me the public is allowed for a small fee. We headed over there and spent most of the day there. The pools were fantastic! The staff was wonderful and helpful and the rest of the facilities looked great. It was the best money I spent all weekend and the boys had a blast. Anyone considering a membership should go over for the day and I'm sure you'll be sold!

I love the pool and the amenities of this facility but the customer service is much better at other facilities. If you have any sorts of problems it is much better to resolve it at a main office or other location then to deal with the customer service here. All they know how to do is tell you unfortunately and they've forgotten the magic and customer service of saying "I'm sorry for the inconvenience."

This is one of our favorite YMCA’s in Orlando even though we don’t live near it. The pool area is great with a splash area for little kids and a slide for big kids. The cafe inside is very nice and the whole facility is spacious and well-kept.

The gym is a bit mediocre I feel like it caters to older people, or those who only workout with classes. the machines are old, there is not even a stair master, sometimes you have to wait a while to use something because there is only one machine. This place has so much potential to have great equipment but they seem cheap about it.

I don't live near this Y, but I love to visit from time to time. This by far is the largest Y in Orlando. It is spacious, clean and really a nice place to workout. Keep doing what you're doing!

Beautiful facility that is very well maintained. The staff is great. They don’t have all of the weightlifting equipment a true training facility typically has. For example I would appreciate more power racks and bench press options, but otherwise it’s the best gym in the Dr. Phillips area for overall experience.

We have little time being members of YNCA, choosing this because it is a gym that invites families, but I must say that in the last two weeks, we have had two disagreements with the children. The first is that my older son was using the treadmill, when a lady comes up and tells her to get off because she wants to use it. Having so many machines of the same style, she craved that. My son, with all due respect, sedimented the machine, but without ceasing to be outraged by the imposing form of the lady. This week, the youngest son was using the snowshoe court, when an instructor arrived with his students and abruptly took him out of the court for her to give a workout class or something similar. What is also surprising is that my son was finishing his time and then it was the turn of another father with his son the turn. Well, this does not matter either, the instructor took the field regardless, it is not made for that use and there were also people present. Here is where I ask myself: Is it a family enclosure? Children deserve respect? or am I affiliated with a site where I should protect my children from users? I add that I took the complaint to the desk at the entrance and the person who answered me said that his policy gave him the right to take this type of action to the instructors and to make a new reservation. Another architecture that shows where the bad administration of the spaces comes from ...

Honestly, not impressed with the renovations. The actual weight lifting area needs some work. It is constantly the most crowded area in the gym but yet it is the smallest. I dread coming here.

We just joined and were in the treadmill area and the service rep, Michelle was busy attending to her personal affairs. I mean it is okay to chat with guests but texting on the job was a bit odd. My son and I stood at the counter waiting while she texted. I mean we watched the clock and it was 3 minutes and we were only 4 feet away from her. Finally she stopped her texting and said, it was my boss, sorry. Maybe that was true, I thought. I needed to unlock a door and she had the key, a 30 second walk. She was like, I need to go put my shoes on. Sure enough she was in socks and walked away. My son and I waited and waited again and then cam back to the service desk where... guess what she was texting again. She had her shoes on and we waited and waited again. This shorter woman with her long nails came smiling and said "don't worry this happens all the time." She unlocked the locker in 2 seconds and we could finally depart. I think they should ban texting while on the job as it is not a necessity and how can she be watching the floor or paying attention to guests when clearly her cell phone is more important than her job. Poor customer service.

After being at this gym probably for 10 years plus i cancelled and moved to a different gym. I had a family membership here but to be honest this place has gone downhill. My daughter no longer wanted to go in the childcare center..the manager sarah in childcare center is so mean and not welcoming or compassionate. My daughter was practically raised in this gym and its sad to see she felt she was being picked on by staff or staff manager. The lady who cleans the yoga rooms has yelled at me on multiple occasions for no reason..ill be stretching in empty room and she has issues that im in there lol....the weights equipment hasnt increased though gym overall got more spacious. Staff have become very uptight and the gym area itself hasnt improved as far as increasing equipment. Im sorry but the 'old ymca' few years back was much better as far as service

I have been to the Dr. Phillips facility several times and, the Staff’s desire to help amazes me! My friends and I have participated in several racquetball tournaments at the Dr. Phillips facility and we plan to play in the upcoming tournament May of 2016.

Awesome place to get a great workout. Staff is very friendly and the facility is top knotch. Only drawback is they don’t open pool until 6am. Left several messages for aquatic director to discuss if opening earlier was a possibility and they never returned calls.

Not happy with this Ymca. small weight area, basketball courts are always taken by class cause they have been working on the class space for over a year. Now today my child who has gone down the slide before was told that now she can not cause they have changed the rule.I just want a family gym like they sold me on. not this gym that now doesn't really care and just does what ever when ever.

Bad association, they don’t appreciate their members or looking for they needs. I spoke with all the managers and all of them didn’t try to help to answer my questions or give me hand. I am very disappointed I tried to call Trish and she’s not available. I can tell you briefly what happened I am an active member and my kids every season playing sports and I pay for them early. This season I wasn’t able to register from 5 days before adding the late fee, which is 25$each. I spoke with Carlos sports director and Jason associate director and the membership director too and they didn’t even try to look to my account or my history with YMCA or how active member I am but they all said (no) waving fee. Regardless that this is my first time to ask for that . Any company appreciates its members and give them one time waving fee or just look for the member history but I shocked when I said to the directors that my kids will not be able to practice this season because I cannot afford to pay 25$more for each of them but they keep telling me NO. No appreciation or feeling or caring You disappointed me .

Way over priced for single people. It’s almost the same price for one person as it is for a family of 4. So the single people are subsidizing the kids stuff. Even with the expansion it is over crowded and the drive way to get in and out is ridiculous.
