Gracie Barra is by far the best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy in town. Training here has changed my life and I gained another family. As a military man, I am often deployed but when I get back I am received with open. Not only do I get received with open arms, Proffesor Bryan Waltz makes it a point to stay in contact and even provide training material in order for me to keep my BJJ training up-to-date.

Our 11 year old has been competing in club wrestling for the last 3 years and before he starts to wrestle for his Middle School, we brought him to GBCS in the off season to do the one week free trial. Not only has it improved his wrestling, but it has given him new skills he can use in BJJ competitions and for self defense. The staff is amazing! The facility is always clean, the kid and adult classes are filled with kids and adults of all skill levels and they really make you feel like part of a great Team! I would highly recommend GBCS to anyone considering learning the art of Jiu Jitsu.

Fabiana Borges

World class professor, very clean and beautiful facility. Professor Vanessa leads the ladies program with a lot of love and experience. Awesome environment for families to learn and train the true Brazilian JiuJitsu.

David Torweihe

After training in MMA, Hapkido, and at another Jiu Jitsu academy, I was blown away by the atmosphere at Gracie Barra Colorado Springs. A lot of other places feel like other people are using you as a punching bag to get themselves better. At Gracie Barra it really feels like a team. Everyone is looking to help each other improve, nobody feels the need to keep moves and tricks to themselves. We're all here to improve ourselves in life and jiu jitsu. Professor Waltz is excellent at providing detailed instruction for people of all shapes and sizes including the kids who he manages to keep from getting out of hand while still having fun. He talks to all the kids about being respectful both at home, on the mats, listening to their parents, and helping around the house. This has definitely become my second home in the years I've been here. When the day has been stressful, it is ossome to walk into such a supportive place and with a great group of people to really turn the day around.

I have been training BJJ for about 2 years with this academy and it is the best workout that I have done and its not boring like running on the treadmill! Professor Waltz and all the Coaches are great instructors and my son loves the Little Champs class. If your a woman there is a awesome Womens class taught by one of the top ranked female grapplers in the state Coach Vanessa. If your looking for a place to take your children and learn some self-defense while having fun and burning a ton of calories, look no more!

An Excellent Academy for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Brain Waltz's systematic structure in teaching and training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the best. He is on my top list as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructor. There are a wide variety of people at Gracie Barra Colorado Springs with different grappling styles and many of them are very good with countering and transitioning. The number one reason why I love going here is to train with others is that they know how to counter and transition back and forth. The people here are very respectful and accepting, which produces a family type atmosphere. I am a Combatives Instructor and train Krav Maga. I have been to several MMA fight gyms and Jiu-Jitsu Academies in Colorado State, other states and out of country. This place is one of the best.

Brazilian Jiujitsu is a very good martial art, and Gracie Barra Colorado Springs is a very good place to learn and train that art. Professor Bryan and the coaching staff are EXCELLENT instructors, the students are all super nice, and make up a wide range of sizes and experience levels. If you already have some martial arts experience, I can tell you this is a LEGIT school. BJJ is a super effective style that is a lot of fun to train. It is the best physical workout of any martial art I have trained. Most importantly for me, Gracie Barra Colorado Springs has some really highly skilled students and instructors for me to train with (read: The nicest MONSTERS you will ever meet) that keep me motivated to improve and keep my ego well-adjusted. :) I would recommend Gracie Barra Colorado Springs to anyone who: Wants to learn to effectively defend themselves. Wants an amazing workout without getting bored. Wants to pick up a hobby you can keep doing well into middle age. Wants to improve themselves. Come play with us! It is a lot of fun and it might just change your life.

My son (5 years old)has been attending GB for almost a year now and I have nothing but great things to say about the school and its instructors. Professor Brian is the heart and soul of the school, his ability to instruct even the youngest of children is exceptional. The coaches are also top notch, adding to a warm and friendly family environment. This a really great school.

Ryan

A great academy! Professor Brian is as great a person as he is instructor. He really cares and helps students progress.I recommend this place to anyone.

Daniel Harris

Great family environment with caring people who love what they do. Best BJJ school you'll find!

Andrew Brown

I stop by here for open mat occasionally. It is an extremely friendly and welcoming group of people--easily the nicest bunch of people to ever try to choke me. This school has great grapplers and great instruction.

Melanie Mahaffey

From the moment I walked into our studio, I have been very impressed with the welcoming atmosphere and professional instruction I have received. It was so much so, I encouraged my daughter to also come try a class, and she came home excited about the possibility of also attending. The classes are designed to ensure success in learning fundamentals as well as having the chance to practice in specific training. There is advanced classes and to top it off I am fortunate to be able to spend time with the women’s team, which as I understand it, is something that’s been growing and only found here. There are also co-ed classes and love rolling times. The professors, coaches, and members are very like-minded in helping you reach your potential. It is very family oriented, and the class schedules make it available to train mornings and evenings. The studio is very clean and well maintained, and in every way a safe place to practice. As a newcomer with a thousand questions, the communication and services provided make it very easy to find your place and feel that you fit in. They truly embody “Jiu jitsu for everyone”.

ABRAHAM J FAVELA

Awesome BJJ Gym with an excellent Professor! Was on a work trip in Colorado Springs (came up from El Paso, Texas) and attended Professor Waltz's Gracie Barra BJJ Gym and was received with welcoming arms. As an El Paso Gracie Barra member I felt right at home with Prof. Waltz and was received well by the other students as if I was family. The instruction was excellent as Prof. Waltz demonstrated the class with precision, patience, and expertise. Very glad I didn't miss out on an opportunity to train while in COS. Thank you Professor Waltz!

The professors and students at Colorado Springs Barra Gracie were friendly and personable. They were welcoming and accommodating of me as a travelling student. I was in town from D.C. for work and they hosted me for that week. If I lived in COS I would definitely consider making Barra Gracie my new school. My only regret was being unable to purchase some gear to show my appreciation for their hospitality. Maybe Next time!

Sergio Ortiz

I could not have asked for a better place to begin my Jiu Jitsu journey. Prof Bryan is an awesome leader and his coaching staff emulates his positive, humble approach to learning. The environment is positive, energetic and egos are checked at the door. I'll be training here as long as I can!

Tjmetcalf78

My family and I had traveled on vacation to visit family and while we were in town we got a chance to drop in to train in on a few classes. There is a really cool atmosphere that is reminiscent to my home academy and people are friendly, welcoming and hard working here. Very solid and technical instruction from Professor Bryan and it was neat to get a different look and philosophy that I am not used to. Both my son and I had a great time training and would love to stop in and train again when we are back in town. If you live locally in the area and were interested in trying out Jiu Jitsu, I highly recommend checking this place out.

J Springy

I dropped in for a Sunday class and it was awesome. The instructor is very talented, as well as the students. They were so friendly and welcoming to this new guy.

Jason Marthaller

Gracie Barra Colorado Springs is fantastic. The students here are dedicated and ready to do work to improve their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu individually and as a team. Professor Bryan Waltz has a level of technical knowledge that is humbling and amazing! Professor Bryan Waltz has outstanding Jiu-Jitsu credentials, and also has the ability to how to teach students of all ages. Its not easy to be firm and teach kids discipline while at the same time having fun with them and genuinely caring for them, but he is able to accomplish this consistently. From the second that you walk through the door you get the sense that it is more then just a gym or an academy, everyone here is willing to help you along your own personal journey. Gracie Barra Colorado Springs is a family. It really says something about a place when you see entire families on the mats rolling together and everyone wants to be there. If you are looking for a workout, a place to learn self defense, or a place to give your children a shot of self confidence Gracie Barra Colorado Springs is the place that you need to be. Gracie Barra Colorado Springs is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone!

Kevin Grannes

Great Jujitsu academy. I have been training there for a week now and am treated as if I have trained there for years. The team is very welcoming and supportive of one another. I got there a little early one day and was able to watch the kids class. The professor was very good with the children; he was able to keep them focused on learning and allowed them to expend their energy in a productive manner all while making it fun for the kids. I will be bringing my son in to attend the children class. If you are looking for a family orientated, welcoming and professional place to polish those jujitsu skills Gracie Barra Colorado Springs is the place.

P Melcher

Awesome gym. The best I've been to yet. The classes are always varied, they have a deep pool of kids in class, and even their own women's team taught by Vanessa Wexler. If you value your jiu jitsu education make GBCS your home.

C Pratt

I love this academy! Professor Bryan Waltz is such an amazing instructor. He is super technical and very helpful. He is great with the kids and you can tell he loves working with them. When pairing up the Furture Champions he pairs every kid up by name no matter the size of the class. Best school in Colorado, hands down!

Paul Dalby

I have been training at Gracie Barra for about 2.5 years and I love it! If your looking for self defense, to stay in shape, or just want to challenge yourself look no further.

Hanes Barbosa

Great academy to train and bring your loved ones. The environment is friendly and the classes organized in a way that the whole family can train with specific directions for men, women and kids. The mats are clean and the everyone's attitude is towards helping each other.

Ashley A

Everyone is so friendly and supportive here. We are a family and the team cares about you. I love BJJ because I have fun, gain strength and learn about movement.

Jeff Tomkiewicz

Logan Cunningham

Absolutely fantastic facility. We are here from out of state. I reached out via the email on their website and was responded to immediately inviting me and my student out. Upon arriving we were greeted by everyone and was shown around. Before class started, the Professor came and spoke with us. Everyone was friendly and open to us. The class was great. Professor answered all our questions. Even the live rolling was controlled and safe while getting good work. If you're in Colorado Springs, you need to check this school out.

If you are thinking about training, then you must visit Gracie Barra Colorado Springs. The instructions is outstanding! Whatever your goals are, exercise, weight loss, defense, competition, or the casual practitioner. Gracie Barra will give you the tools in order to reach them. I have over 30 years in martial arts, and have had many instructors. And Professor Waltz would rank at the top of my list. When it comes to BJJ, this is the place to be!

This place is awesome!!! Great instructors and instructions. This should be the only place you learn BJJ in Colorado Springs. Visiting from out of town and was welcomed with open arms.

Jeff Roepke

Top notch training. Many diffrent sizes of opponents with different skill levels. Proud to call GB my bjj home. Bjj for life. Osssss!!!

Robert Goodloe

Went to class today taught by Professor Brian. I have trained at many schools around the world and Professor Bryan's teaching is as good as any out there. His school is a great place to learn.

Terence Brown

Gracie Barra Colorado Springs is the best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) Academy in town! Professor Bryan Waltz is extremely knowledgable and highly effective at teaching, even kids, very technical techniques. This is not the first BJJ school I took my sons to, but I am proud and grateful that we found him. Professor Bryan has the unique ability to teach kids to be disciplined and respectful while making it fun and lighthearted. He has a very cool and calm demeanor at all times and under all circumstances. My sons' knowledge of BJJ has grown by leaps and bounds; so has their enthusiasm for BJJ. There are plenty of very technical kids, of all ages and sizes, for kids to roll and learn with. If you are looking for an Academy for your kids to train and learn BJJ then I highly recommend that you go and try a free class to see for yourself.

Susan Tipton

This is a fantastic school. As an out of town visitor from a non-GB school I didn't know what to expect. I had a wonderful time playing there all week. The instruction from the professor and from the coaches was detailed and clear, the students were laid back and friendly but also focused and hard working. I learned so much and had so much fun that I'm still smiling.

candy chavez

Gracie Barra Colorado springs, has been a momentous choice for my two girls. Their ages 11&10, and the class is geared perfectly for the all age groups. I feel comfortable and my girls are really doing well. I see their confidence rising, a sense of respect and discipline as well. All I can say, you have to see it to believe it! it will be worth your time and money. Which pricing is excellent! I've never felt burden of the price. Its truly a great place. =)

Michael Mima

My son has been attending this academy for over four years, and every year they get better. Between Professor Waltz and coach Vanessa and Josh, there isn't a better place for my son and the other children to be mentored in the art of Brazilian Jujitsu.

maren mima

My son has attended this academy for four years with professor Bryan Waltz. One of the best decisions we ever made. The children's program is above any other! Professor and the coaches are great at providing a safe place to learn! They teach the fundamentals of this martial art while incorporating self- defense, discipline and fun, but also provide a challenge for the more advanced students in class! It's perfect for any age or level!

Angela Coleman

This place is amazing. Very friendly and welcoming environment. Not only is the coaches and staff amazing but the other parents that are in the class make you feel like you're part of this big family. My son loves this place and he's learned so much. Couldn't be happier here if you're looking for a great place please bring your kids here or yourself.

Jilber Jerman

This is such an excellent gym to learn such an amazing martial art form. Professor Bryan is knowledgeable, proficient, patient and friendly. All the coaches are just as great and professional. I recommend this gym to anyone trying to learn BJJ. You will not regret it and will look forward to going back for every night.

Made me feel welcome as the whitest of whitebelts. Super open and friendly learning environment full of great men and women looking to improve each other's jiu-jitsu and have fun!

Danny Beckley Jr

I absolutely love this place! I've been training here for the past 6 months and I can't even begin to how amazing it is! This was the first martial art I've ever tried and I was so nervous walking in the building but Professor Bryan was very welcoming, in fact all the staff i.e. Coach Vanessa, Coach Joe, Coach Ryan and Coach Josh have all been so helpful!

Joshua Sauseda

My 3 son's and I been at Gracie Barra Colorado Springs for just over 3 years now. Before I settled on this academy I spent a good amount of time training at the 2 other BJJ academies in town. And let me say, there is no comparison. When I watched Professor Bryan teach the kids class it was clear to me he was a highly qualified kids instructor. He could keep anyone from ages 4 - 15 with various skill levels engaged. All while instilling in them a great sense of discipline, respect, honor, integrity, loyalty, physical fitness. When I attended the adult classes I was not only impressed with Professor Bryan's familiarity with the details of every technique he taught, but his ability to point out the little nuances in a meaningful way so that you'll remember them. Professor Bryan lessons are based on a curriculum for Fundamentals, Advanced, and Black Belt levels. Everything taught is methodical and well organized. I knew right away that I'd not only be able to learn BJJ from him, but I'd be able to learn how to teach both kids and adults from him. Fast forwarding 3 years not only has Professor Bryan developed me into an instructor, but I've been able to watch him develop a group of instructors that can run the programs and teach according to his vision and direction. Apart from the instruction the atmosphere is that of a family. Everyone is welcome and everyone works together helping one another achieving various individual goals and celebrating the successes of one another. If you're looking for Self-Defense, to increase your physical fitness, build self confidence, reduce stress, or even competition and sport, look no further Gracie Barra is the place for you. The Gracie Barra motto is 'Jiu-Jitsu For Everyone"

Davis Giadoo

Came to Colorado Springs for the Army and found this place. Loved the place!!! The training is excellent and the professor is professional and the standard of what BJJ is all about.

Maria Niemier

Best classes, best coaches and professor, I'll be going until they tell me to stop

Noble Brothers

My brother 10 and I 12 have been training for almost 3 years and I love it professor waltz can be very technical and very good with the basics. Its good for all kids and we are all friends that have fun on the mats. its one big jiu-jitsu family.

Vance Barksdale

I am a purple belt that trains in Denver and I always stop by Gracie Barra to train when I am in town visiting. The school has a couple NoGi classes, but focuses on the GI and is more on the traditional side. If you are chosen to be the Uke, you and the instructor will bow to each other before and after showing the technique. People will also face away from the mats to fix the gi before lining up. All classes I have attended have had an emphasis on technique, which I believe is the core of BJJ. One thing I find most imoressive is that Professor Bryan Waltz teaches to students at various levels of training during a single class. When Professor Bryan teaches a series, he gives the class recommendations on moves to do from the position for students that might want to build up their foundation instead of continuing on with the series. This style of teaching is great, as it is difficult to learn more advanced moves effectively when you a person still needs to form a solid foundation of the essential moves. They have a great wrestling coach that teaches a stand up class. You won't find better a better wrestling technique in the Springs short of the OTC, which is where the coach trained at for several years. The mats are clean, people must wear shoes when going to the bathroom. I have never run into a person with an ego at the school. Women only classes are also offered. I think the school has many positives and highly recommend scheduing a free class to learn more and find out if the school is a good fit for you!

Marion Gregg

My son and I have trained here for a little over a year now and I can say without reservation that starting at Gracie Barra Colorado Springs is one of the best decisions I have made in a long time. This is an outstanding school where you will be able to train in a safe, friendly, and engaging environment to learn Brazilian jiu jitsu, whether your goal is self defense, excelling at tournaments, or just gaining self confidence, all the while getting in great shape. Professor Waltz is amazing with the kids and fosters an environment focusing on self confidence, respect for others, and discipline. The Little Champions program for children at Gracie Barra Colorado Springs is unparalleled in the Colorado Springs area or anywhere near here. My son loves it here and gets excited for every class. Professor Waltz is able to breakdown and teach techniques so that students can easily learn them. If any of the students ever have questions, Professor Waltz, Coach Vanessa, Coach Josh, Coach Casey or other excellent instructors are right there immediately to help. The Professor and all of the coaches are incredibly approachable and genuinely happy to teach and it evident when you walk through the door. There is an atmosphere of inclusive camaraderie here and you will feel like "part of the team" even when you first start. I am happy to have become part of the Gracie Barra Colorado Springs family. If you have ever considered starting a martial art, I would recommend trying out Gracie Barra Colorado Springs.

Andrew Denton

Top notch place to train. Great kid/teen programs and a great variety of adult classes to fit your schedule. Professor Bryan is a fantastic guy that runs a sharp, clean gym that is friendly and respectful. All the other professors and coaches are also extremely knowledgeable. Great place to get into competing. Hands down a great place to get in shape and learn a martial art!

Shane Stutzman

Great Academy! I had no experience in any type of grappling and was made to feel welcome. Lots of great coaching from the coaches and Professor Bryan with good detail. Everyone has been friendly and helpful in all aspects. If you are new to BJJ or want to get back into it this is the academy for you.

Hallie Ward

Strong women’s program, welcoming and friendly environment, and amazing jiu jitsu and muay thai. GB Colorado Springs has been a perfect place to train while in town on rotation for 7 weeks. Professor Vanessa worked with me to help me feel welcomed as a visitor and especially part of the women’s community, and Professor Dan teaches great muay thai. You will not only be challenged to be a better athlete but also part of a strong and supportive community here.

Jacen Spector

I'm 8 months into my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey, and I'm getting ready for my first competition. Joining Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu has changed my life, literally. I've lost 30 pounds, I've felt better than I have in years, and I look forward to the energy that BJJ gives me throughout my work week at a desk job. A year ago, I couldn't even run 2 miles without stopping on my best day. Professor Bryan and all the coaches at Gracie Barra Colorado Springs make you feel welcome from day one. You are accepted for who you are, and your skill level, and the possibilities of learning here seem endless. My 9 year old son, also attends this academy, and now we train together as a family. If you're on the fence, just come in for a week and try it for free. You will get the best workout of your life and it's a hell of a lot of fun. It's something you have to experience for yourself, once you do, you'll be hooked. Just writing about it makes me want to go train right now!

Jerimie Parks

Best school in Colorado Springs and one of the top in the state! I have trained at other schools in the Springs and this is by far the most professional, friendly, and clean environment to learn in for adults and especially the children! Gracie Barra Colorado Springs has a top notch Black Belt Instructor who learned under multiple World Champions such as Roberto Tussa Alencar and Rafael Barata Freitas. In addition this team consistently places in the top 3 schools in the state at tournaments. There is no better place to train!

Mohammed Scofield

Colorado Springs Gracie Barra is an awesome dojo to learn jiujitsu because of the coaches and professor. The school maintain and upholds professionalism and respect. It embodies what other traditional martial arts dojos stand for. The school is lead by Professor Bryan who is very knowledgeable and compassionate in the art. He is very caring and respectful. His coaches are very friendly, respectful, and are very good at BJJ. Everyone is highly motivated! I highly recommend this school to anyone willing to learn BJJ. - Mo Uddin

Hailey Pigford

BJJ has improved my life and state of mind in tremendous ways. And it wouldn't have been possible without this team. Professor Bryan and all of the other coaches provide a wealth of knowledge for practitioners who are both new and experienced in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I highly recommend this academy to anyone willing to learn! It is also a women-friendly environment. Our women's team continues to grow, but only with your help! Come check out coach Vanessa's womens classes on monday and wednesday nights; its a great opportunity to learn practical self-defense.

Vincent Renda

I've been involved in this beautiful art in one way or the other since 2005. During my travels I've had the chance to visit many schools. Gracie Barra Colorado Spring is an A++ academy. Go see for yourselves.

Great place to learn. Excellent, positive atmosphere and wonderful training partners.

Alvaro Corral

I patched over to GB from another BJJ club almost two years ago, and I want to say that I could not have found a better club! You would never guess that there are so many GB chapters around the world, as Professor Bryan makes us feel unique in our own way. This club is very fun, technical, and competitive, without the boot camp feeling. There will be no doubt that this club will be a fixture in the Colorado Springs area for a long time to come!

Dylan Hawthorne

Great place to train for all levels with a family environment. Very friendly and inviting atmosphere and always top of the line instruction!

Daniel Lim

Gracie Barra Colorado Springs is a premier Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) academy. Professor Bryan Waltz is a BJJ black belt under World and Pan American Champion Robert (Tussa) Alencar from Gracie Barra New Mexico. Professor Bryan is knowledgeable and is a great teacher that cares about his students. The members of GB are loyal and committed to helping each other grow and reach their full potential. Gracie Barra Colorado Springs really is a place for "Jiu-Jitsu For Everyone", regardless of your goals (self-defensive, fitness, competition, etc). I recommend you come and try it out. You will find a welcoming BJJ academy and environment.

Taylor Draper

I've been training at Gracie Barra for 9 months now, and couldn't be happier. I've competed twice, and everyone treats me like family. Bryan is a phenomenal Professor, and it's an honor to train here. Oss!

zatch434

I've been doing jiu jitsu for about 5.5 years now, and I didn't start at this school, so let give you my unbiased opinion. This school has absolutely some of the top-notch instruction I've ever seen. Both professor Vanessa and Bryan are very passionate about the sport and it very clearly shows. There is a culture of dedication, teamwork, and cleanliness at this school that I didn't think was possible. On a typical weekday almost all of our classes are packed. Each student gets the attention the need, from the kids classes all the way to the adult classes. There is absolutely no drama. Every other school I've ever been to has always had the "we're better and we know it attitude", but you will not find that here. Which is funny because we consistently place in the top 3 schools in colorado at the Fight To Win tournaments. All techniques are shown with an emphasis on the small details, and we cover beginner techniques all the way up to the advanced stuff and beyond. On top of that, this school has a very large women and childrens team, which is something you wont find at the other local schools and even a lot of the bigger schools around the nation. If you want to get good at jiu jitsu, and you live in Colorado Springs, this is where you need to be. So if you're tired of running on treadmills or the repetetiveness of lifting weights, go ahead and try the free week, I guarantee you'll never look back. Professor Bryan and Vanessa have gone out of their ways to inspire their students and I'm proud to be apart of this team.

Donny T

Best place to learn JiuJitsu in COS! I've trained at multiple places across the US and professor Bryan teaches in a very friendly and effective way. I love his techniques and how smooth he is. Best black belt in town.
