When I first started at this school, I was quite literally too big for my own good. I intimidated everyone. After I joined, I found that I could really talk to the people here and they wouldn't judge me. They understood all my disabilities like asthma, joint problems, and allergies. They didn't force me to push myself any harder than I could go on my own. Then I joined the black belt club they offer and started to come to the fitness class. When I first started here, I weighed approximately 339.5 pounds. I couldn't run to save my life, I was only kinda athletic, and I had no drive. Now I'm only 310, I can keep up with a lot of the other guys on sports teams, I can finally walk around with a little more confidence in myself and I really wanna push myself to be the best I can be at everything I do. This place is absolutely fantastic. I used to be afraid of rolling because I thought I was too big, now I'm begging at every chance I get to roll. They understand and won't try to force you to be the best of everyone, they just force you to be the best you can be. You are really welcomed by everyone. They treat you like family.

I love it here. My son attends Little Warriors and he loves it. The teachers, Mrs. Heather and Miss. Karina are wonderful. Master C is very attentive to each person and everyone there gets to know you. There isn't a person that I interact with there that doesn't know me or my son by name. I am impressed by how they handle children who have behavioral issues and how they work with them and figure out what works best for that child or adult. I can't praise them enough. I'm so happy I finally decided to check this place out. I've know Master C and Mrs. Heather for a while now and I was so bummed I took almost a whole year to get my son in Little Warriors, but I'm so glad I finally did.

When I was younger I attended Karate and Tae Kwon Do classes. I am now in the military and I have received training in military combatives (Hand to Hand combat) and 8 months of Small Circle Jiu Jitsu. Calvary Family Martial Arts and Fitness has impressed me at every turn. I have never seen a more family oriented organization with such a real world applications to martial arts as I have in the Calvary Family. The fitness services provided are tailored to the specific levels of each individual to ensure that you will get a work out regardless of how in shape or out of shape you are. The instructors motivate you to push yourself while fostering an atmosphere of respect and understanding. The martial arts aspect is organized and structured with real world application sharing roots with other martial arts styles which provides people the well-rounded tools needed to survive a fight-for-your-life scenario. There are classes that are only for adults and there are classes for adults and their children. From what I have seen, the children that attend are extremely well behaved and refer to adults as “Sir” or Ma’am”. They also seem to be having a blast! The adults that I have met seem to come to increase their fitness levels, learn a martial arts discipline or take up a hobby with their child. Whatever they are coming for though most seem genuinely happy after a hard work out. They smile and tell each other good job or that was awesome. This fantastic atmosphere is created by the amazingly knowledgeable instructors at CFMAF. Because of this amazing atmosphere and the unique opportunity to learn from such knowledgeable instructors I look forward to my education and growth with the Calvary Family.

We LOVE this place and the awesome people there! Our home away from home! We reap rewards that far outweigh the time, energy, and money we willingly put in. Very affordable and keeps the family growing and training together. A family that trains together stays together.

Master "C" is a man who is very humble. He does not hurt his people or try to hurt his people to show how good he is. He does more than just show techniques, he explains how and why they work and when to use them. I like that he is more than a man of his word, he puts everything in writing so I know exactly what I pay for, when I pay, how much it is. I have heard of schools who charge monthly and change their pricing monthly. He has never done that to me.

Chesney Flora

This place came highly recommended to me and is definitely worth every penny. And when it comes to money they truly do make it affordable and you gain so much more when you come here then basic steps etc. Seeing some of these comments really shows how much shade gets thrown at people for being honest and not silent... Props to you for speaking the truth!

Used a groupon for their trial self defense class which was a great value. I have taken different styles of self defense before and was interested in learning more. Trial could use a revamp, Ms. Kristin (I believe was her name) was great and a really good teacher. Class should be an into to the program you teach, Ms. Kristen was doing well teaching the basics. The class is held along side another mixed age/ skill group and the small intro group was constantly being interrupted to perform techniques that the larger group was taking part in. It would be great to see the demonstrations but not have the new group perform them. I would give it more stars but I find it a really big turn off that the owner argues with people on their reviews how ever true or false they may be. I see a review, good or bad, as constructive criticism and a chance for the business to grow. You cant please everyone and that's the business of customer service.

I been going to Calvary Family Martial Arts for almost a year and I love it. They have the best prices and amazing promotions for everyone! I appreciate the staff and all that they do for us! Kyle Smith I don't agree with your statements. I remember you and remember you been very inappropriate in our workout classes you are the one that was always belching and passing gas and it was very rude. I appreciate Master C always approaching those delicate situations so the rest of the people in the class can feel comfortable and continue to come back in class. Thank you Calvary Family

I have been training at CFMAF for three years now and have loved my experience while doing fitness and martial arts classes. That said, this is not a place to train if you are not willing to give it your all. Master C and Mr.s Heather will push your mind and body to new levels if you allow them to do so. You will get in the best shape of your life if you train at their location. If you are dedicated to seeing change in your body and gaining mental toughness, then this place is where you need to go. You'll notice that Master C will go out of his way to make things right if you run into any issues with your program or billing. Just read all of the reviews and you will see that he does care about his students well beings! This is truly a great place to be connected with for fitness and martial arts classes.

CFMAF is one of a kind! Our daughters have been in their Little Warriors and Prep Warriors classes and absolutely loved them! The instructors could not possibly be any better; they are the perfect balance of strict and fun. This martial arts gym has far exceeded our expectations and we will gladly return if we live in the area again!

Erika Barrett

I highly recommend CFMAF! We were welcomed in like family and my boys are already loving their training. My daughter and I will soon begin ours. Master C and Ms. Heather were so willing to help work out payment arrangement that works for my family. Their hearts and passion are clearly to help equip, strengthen and empower and encourage each person that walks through their doors.

Tammy Weakland

My daughter has been attending classes here for 2 years. I recently started, as well. I couldn't ask for a better environment for us to learn self-defense. Train hard, no excuses, because life won't give you anything for free. The owners are amazing and keep us on our toes. The front desk staff is wonderful, friendly, and always helpful...even amidst the crazy that happens. The best part of the school is the support teachers. They are always willing to take a little extra time and care to make sure we understand what we are doing. I can't imagine going anywhere else. As long as we live in the Springs, CFMAF is our choice to train!

My family has attended CFMAF for a little over a year. After visiting 3 other Martial Arts Schools in the area for my oldest son, we were very impressed with the program at CFMAF. After enrolling my oldest son, our youngest son wanted to join the Lil Warriors. Pretty soon my husband joined and they finally talked me into joining. I had never taken a Martial Arts class so I was apprehensive at first but I quickly found that I really enjoy attending. Master C, Ms. Heather and the rest of the staff teach a program with real world applications. A large part of the program is self-defense, which makes me feel more confident that I could defend myself when I am going out alone or leaving work at night. We have really enjoyed training together as a family and are getting in much better shape as well. Highly recommend!

My children have been taking martial arts classes at CFMAF for three years. We LOVE it there. The family atmosphere and the personalized attention are wonderful. I have seen my children grow in their confidence and their abilities. The instructors are very knowledgeable in what they teach. We have come to consider CFMAF our second home. We love to be there and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Danielli Tempel

We wouldn’t go anywhere else! The perfect balance of exercise, discipline and fun!

Jillian Harano

I LOVE these guys. The techniques they teach are relevant to today, to be used in real world situations. If you are open to learning they will teach you so much.

I'm on my second week of being introduced to this amazing place. I have tried several gyms and several workout videos prior to coming to cfmaf. I have never had such a great experience and felt so welcomed by the entire staff. I enjoy seeing how happy, helpful, motivating, and proud Isaac and Heather are of there passion and the people they are helping. I can't wait to sign up and be apart of the family. To anyone reading this review its definitely worth it to give it a try. In my first week I feel amazing, but you have to want it for yourself as well.:)

Cook Family

Love this training facility. It’s a family ran establishment. The instructors are awesome and add a wonderful personal touch to training. The training styles offer a great variety so if one technique doesn’t work for you there is always an alternative to the approach. I love that while training Heather and Isaac push me to ensure I’m getting something out of my workouts. There are a variety of different belt and fitness levels within the class and instructors always make sure that the more experienced levels are being pushed as well as the less experienced levels. It’s good to know that as a beginner I’m not holding back the class because I’m a slow learner! Nothing but great things about this place. I definitely recommend this facility.

Jerry Gantt

Absolutely the best thing for any child. Awesome staff and instructors. This place is solid gold!

Liz Bridges

This was the absolute worst experience with a martial arts training program me and my family have experienced. I paid my full contract costs, however, my children disliked Master C and his personality issues so much that they refused to return to this facility. Master C was very nice initially after I signed the contract. As time went on, it was obvious Master C was all about pumping himself up vice helping kids. I myself am prior military so I know when to be tough and when not to be when training my kids. It was obvious Master C just wanted to anger parents so they remove their children and he keeps all the profits for not doing any work to help the kids. We do not hold any ill feelings for this facility. The experience unfortunately made my kids never want to be involved in martial arts again.

I watch the news every morning before I leave my house at a very early hour, fox21 was covering a situation that had impacted our community pretty hard. then they offered this CFMAF to understand the art of self defense that is so badly needed to women in our community! I called and was welcomed to an intro class of a week. I appreciate the experience from some truly amazing people with so much patients. From the front desk to the instructors. Thank You... I have never been to a martial art school in my life and i took everything they introduced to me into deep consideration. they are absolutely right when it comes to the real life experiences. the group here is so very special I felt very welcomed and a part of a team. Again, Thank You.. I am not going to proceed at this time with classes, I know I need to keep my self safe for so many reasons. I will keep this place in mind if my circumstances change.

By far the best family oriented martial arts fitness school in Colorado!!!!!!

My kid loves it an it helps my son a lot

I got Living Social coupons to try out a number of area boot camps that all have their advantages, but when I tried CFMAF, I stayed. They set my son up in Lil Warriors, which he loves, and run a boot camp that's probably twice as efficient as most other places. There's a real family atmosphere, and it's one of the only places where my son can join me on the gym floor -- CFMAF has changed our lives! Disclaimer: a few months after we joined, CFMAF hired NSI for marketing, but that's because I believe in their value proposition enough to want to share it withe everyone in Colorado Springs!

Darek DeShetler

I originally joined CFMAF for my daughters. We tried a couple of things out for them (gymnastics, dance, soccer, etc...) but nothing really stuck. We figured we would try martial arts and we are happy we did. Not only for my girls but for my wife and me as well. My kids are engaged and learning, which helps ease my mind knowing they will eventually date and I won't be around forever. My wife has become a total bada**. Who knew?!!! And for me, now in my 40's, I am either in the best shape of my life or pretty close to it. If you think I would get an ego from that then you don't understand how this place works. We just had an extremely hard test and it humbled me greatly. But thanks to their encouragement, I know I can do better and that I just have to work harder. This has also helped me at work. Combined with my diet, I feel like my mind is as sharp as ever and am excelling at my job. Master C and the crew do a really good job of balancing things for adults and kids. I am happy with what I see out of my kids in these classes. Though they are total opposites, they have both found something to stick to and enjoy. And they love showing off their skills to family members. Overall, CFMAM has been great. It is a wonderful place that encourages the family environment. It is honest (Master C does not beat around bush!). Him and Miss Heather make a great team being able to use their differing strengths at the right times. And really, I dare you to find more top notch training. The seminar we attended recently was above anything I thought I would ever attend (knife, handgun, stick, and assault rifle disarmament, clearing your house with a handgun if someone breaks in, jiu jitsu, close quarter tactical combat (IT WAS AWESOME!!!)) It's not just about the art. It's about you being able to survive whatever horrific event may ever occur in your life. If you join CFMAF, and you take it seriously, you won't have any doubt in your mind that you will.

What my boys learned from Isaac may save their life some day! Great class!

If you glutton for punishment, this is the place you want to be. If you want show how strong and buff you are this is the place you want to be. Or if you just want to have some fun and laugh about your fat while killing it this is the place you want to be. IT'S DRAMA FREE. It's the best way to work out and you can fun too.

Shelly Anderson

I have been a member of CFMA since 2006, it is a great club to be a member. Prices are very reasonable compared to what you accomplish through the school. The fitness classes challenge you as much as you will allow yourself to be challenge plus a little more. You have the option to have one on one time with a personal training. Whom will sit down with you and develop a workout and eating approach that fits your life style. The self-defense classes are, just that real world experience dealing with unfriendly people (people whom threaten your life). These classes are not only for adults but are great skills for children to learn. It is not everywhere you learn how to take a hit. Yes, literal and through disappointment like failing a test. The martial arts classes, not only teach you forms and self-defense. You also learn self respect, and self esteem. The school gives you the course goals, but the instructors challenge and help you to become a better you.

Jamie Krewson

I started my daughter at CFMAF almost 2 1/2 years ago, in their Little Warriors program, right after she turned 5. I was searching for a program that would help her focus and develop confidence. And I found it! She has some special needs and I wanted a program that would work with us to help her grow. Since then she has graduated from the Little Warriors Program into the Family program and is working her way into the Black Belt Club. I decided to join my daughter and also train at CFMAF. And I'm so glad I did! I love Master C and Miss Heather's program, outlook and encouragement. They care and make you feel like family. They make the training fun but still disciplined. They seek out world champions to come teach seminars to make their students better. Their techniques are real world and will work when you need them to, they are not pretty and showy for a demonstration. They teach the children anti-bullying, anti-abduction, home and stranger safety, respect, responsibility, discipline and so much more. Their fitness program is top-notch with fun and effective group classes and wonderful personal trainers for private coaching to really focus on your goals. I can't express how wonderful this school is!

Kenny Emerson

I have been training at CFMAF now going on over 3 years and have had the best training experiences. The self defense techniques are incredible, the fitness portion ain't easy but things you want in life don't come easy but the results are well worth the work, personally losing 26 lbs in 3 and a half months. The instructors are all amazing and bring their own viewpoints and teachings in to share which is great, not to mention the multiple number of world champions and weapons experts who come thru to share their knowledge. I could not imagine myself going to train anywhere else after being involved with CFMAF.

keisa shockley

My son has been training here 1 year and he absolutely loves it! The staff is always helpful and kind and the other trainees & their families are helpful. I recommend CFMAF to anyone, young or old that wants to get quality training and to be a part of a family atmosphere.

This place is awesome!! Very detail oriented, the discipline is strict but effective, and Master C, Ms. Heather, Mr. Jordan, and Mr. Jacob are great at one-on-one and have no problem giving individual attention and instruction. My son prospers here. We look forward to each class and meeting new people.

Robin Roberts

I have used the personal training services at CFMAF since January. The gym is awesome, my trainer is awesome, and I receive a good value for the money I spend on the training and nutrition plans. Most important? I get results. I highly recommend CFMAF if you are looking for accountability and variety in your training plan, and for self defense and martial arts classes as well. Great local business!

Coco Thornton

I have been a student with Master C and Heather for a year now! Since I been at CFMAF I have personally observed the high level of dedication, expertise from all of there staff. Thank you, for having patients with me! Coco

Brian Malone

I really enjoy the training my family and I have received here. The instructors are amazing. And in the 10 months we have trained there I personally have lost over 60 lbs. All of that weight came off just from the martial arts training. The classes are fun and doesn't feel like exercise. I cannot thank them enough for giving me a healthier life style and giving me the confidence needed if anything bad was to ever happen.

Just started a week ago...have learned a few things so far...everyone is so nice and helpful...Can't wait to keep learning more.

My son has been attending CFMAF for almost a year now. We initially enrolled him in hopes that the structure, physical activity, and respect that is required of these students would help in other facets of my son’s life. My son has always been strong-willed and in need of solid boundaries. He is a few months away from turning 14 years old and has recently become very mouthy and disrespectful at home. My husband and I have been feeling stressed and discouraged by his behavior. We don’t believe it’s anyone else’s job to parent our children; however, I do believe that we needed some support and advice. With that being said, I reached out to Isaac at CFMAF and explained to him what had been happening at home. I was hesitant to do this at first because I wanted my son’s experience there to be positive and inviting. I was afraid if Isaac talked with my son regarding his behavior that he wouldn’t want to return. Isaac had a very important point regarding the situation. While one of the purposes in going is for my son to learn how to defend himself in a dangerous situation, Isaac wants to go deeper than that. He wants to instill respect, obedience, strong character, self control, and perseverance. My son can punch and kick all day long, and if he’s disrespecting us at home, or even at school, he’s truly missing the point of what Isaac is trying to teach. With that being said, he did speak to my son. I really thought my son would appease Isaac and tell him what he might want to hear, and then return home even more angry and disrespectful. To my surprise, my son has not said ONE disrespectful thing to my husband or me. He took he talk very seriously and doesn’t want to return to CFMAF with a “negative report.” He knows that his behavior can and will effect what goes on there in regard to his belts he’s earned, and in regard to how others view him. They all keep each other accountable, teaching them that their actions truly do affect everyone around them. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome and I’m thankful to Isaac and all of the staff there for their support and their commitment to their students!!

CFMAF is amazing. I love the fitness class! Master C and Ms Heather are great and make working out fun. I don't think I have done the same workout in the 8 months I have been attending. Highly recommend!

Katie

Such a great company for everyone !!! They have a wide variety to offer you and your family to meet your goals. The owners Isaac and Heather have a love for the community especially the kids. I have seen a lot of growth in my son who is part of the little warriors. If you are looking to meet some health goals (weight loss or muscle gain) you must check out their great personal trainer they have on staff (Kris Gieske) he compliments what CFMAF embodies. They don't try they do !! Glad to be apart of the family and encourage anyone to check out what they have to offer.

Kyle Smith

Lets see where to start. I had spoken with the lovely front desk, Ms Kristin. she helped me establish my first class, and in which I signed on for the 12 month training agreement. They told me I could not use cash initially, but then when first payment came time to be due, with me having no credit , they accepted Cash, Which was great. I began attending the morning classes at 9 am on the weekends. It was ok at first, but then the classes werent there when I would go every other Saturday or so. They said that If I didnt come to the first class, and there was no one else there, then they would not have the class (not even the later ones) One the schedule they have 3 specific Saturday classes, which none are the same, but I paid for all three. Even though I paid, I was not aloud to go to the later ones unless I show up to the beginning. That is the beginning. I would get calls from Ms Kris asking to come in to class, she was the fornt desk, and not a single call from an instructor and nor an email, or text. The business I also found out offers different prices for people with money and different ones for those without. BIASED if you ask me. How is that Some people pay $69 a month to attend a fitness class (one , twice a week) and I asked if they had anything below a hundred and they said they did not. (lie, because a client stated she paid the minim. for the one weekly class, which is What I was wanting to begin with. I pay $139 a month, some pay $164 , $119, which is not worth it. They are always nickle and diming people trying to get them to buy everything. They wont allow you to purchase your gear anywhere but from them, and they have to have their logo. I could have had all my equipment for less then the $180 pkg they are trying to push on me, and then the $45 for the uniform, and any weapons are extra. This place is MONEY MONEY. They Got rid of the receptionist I had been dealing with and brought in a pushy over bearing guy. No one wants to talk to a man, that only calls about money. I want to feel appreciated and at this place you wont. The Instructors are always yelling at each other and the sense of equality is not there either. Overall I do not recommend this place to anyone, and plan to share my experience with every one. As for everyone saying that My bodily functions were pertruding into their personal space, then so be it. I only burped a few times, not passing gas any of the times. I do know you all can feel however you want, but all the people to post after me are people that are friends with the whole clan. Not actual new clients. Show me a family or single person within the last year, that became a new enrollee with something good to say on here. Oh wait there is not a single one. Seems odd doesn't it? You make your own determination. Most people with bad experiences tend not to write reviews, or comments, because of situations where one person says something and 50 jump on to reply. its an era based on social media, and granted this is ok. Do understand that bashing others for voicing their concern and bad experiences is your own undoing of good natured acceptance. Good luck , but do note I will let everyone know.

My daughter has been part of the children’s martial arts program, Lil Warriors Prep, at CFMAF for over a year. Shortly thereafter, I signed up for sessions with one of their personal trainers and just recently began the Adult Streetwise class. Every experience our family has had at CFMAF has been exceptional. As a result, when I became aware of the Women’s Self Defense Class at CFMAF, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to gain even more knowledge from this awesome group of instructors and their phenomenal teaching methods. The Women’s Self Defense class has exceeded my expectations. The first thing we were taught involved developing and increasing our situation based awareness. Awareness of one’s surroundings is one of the major ways to avoid being put in a compromising situation. For this reason, the instructors address different scenarios (i.e, approaching your vehicle, how to hold your vehicle keys, and how to drive and stop your vehicle, etc.) to minimize your risk of becoming a victim. The second main benefit to this class is that we learn a few sets of self-defense techniques that can be mastered and used in various forms of attack. While some people feel that they need multiple techniques, I believe it is more beneficial to master one skill set, rather than having a brief understanding of multiple techniques. And, in this brief 8-week class, the teaching speed is right on target to gain a wealth of knowledge. Although I am not of victim of violent crime, it has been amazing to see how a program like this has helped former victims regain confidence, take back control of their lives and foster healing. All of the instructors are professional, knowledgeable, creative in his/her teaching approach, and caring. They are available to assist us during the learning and training process and push us to become stronger so that if put in a compromising situation we can become “victors rather than victims.”

Jeannine Murphy

I love the staff and everyone that attends here. They are like family. Such a blessing to have master C and Ms Heather in our life.

Kenny E

My family and I have been attending this school for 4 months now, and we all love this school!! The teachers (instructors) Master C, Mrs. Heather and all the other staff are absolutely amazing. They are very supportive, they will push you as far as you are willing to go, this school is very fair priced and the list can keep going on and on. I highly recommend this school.

Holly Kindermann

I have been with CFMAF for a little while now, and I absolutely love it. Before I went to these classes, I had no way of getting any excursive or protection for that matter. Once I started I was taught how to excursive and move basic ways to protect myself. The teachers are really encouraging and nice and I have learned much from them, I have also gained friendship which is something I have always struggled getting throughout my life. I feel CFMAF has help change me in personality and physically, I am extremely glad God showed me this establishment. Thank you CFMAF for helping me through many things

Michelle Wendt

CFMAF has been so wonderful for my daughter! Not only does she love her class and her teachers, but she is retaining the knowledge and information she is being taught. Due to some personal issues, my daughter was unable to attend 2 weeks of classes. I called to inform CFMAF of the situation and they were so accommodating and even gave her 20 minutes (which was really more like 30) of one-on-one training to make up for what she missed and to prevent her from falling behind. I, myself, have taken classes which are offered (often and sometimes free, btw!!) to me through CFMAF and have learned so much about what I can do to be more alert and to better prepare myself. My children will continue to train with the staff at CFMAF, as they truly know what they are doing and are beyond great with my child!

My husband and I wanted to find a martial arts school that could teach our daughters self-defense, and confidence. We checked out several schools and CFMAF was our last stop. At that point we were exhausted, and almost didn't make it there...I'm so glad we did, however. Isaac Costly, a.k.a. Master C, was very thorough and peaked our interest with his backstory and passion...so much that we decided to join CFMAF with our girls. This school is very inclusive:mixed martial arts, (hapkido as its base) for all ages, it's family oriented, fitness oriented with classes that'll kick your butt and a little gym to work out in , great customer service (Ms. Kristin is the sweetest ever), and more importantly, the instructors Ms. Heather and Master C, are so dedicated and passionate about their school and teachings. You will always find them at the school, unless they are away for more training and learning; in that case, they hire other skilled instructors to provide the best experience and knowledge while they are away. My daughters, age 4 and 6, love coming here. We've been going for over 2 months now, and not once have the girls complained about going; in fact they want to go more often. My husband and I are also enjoying this school very much, in addition to the fitness classes. I highly recommend! Update: My family I happily continue to attend CFMAF. It has been about a year and a half. What's not to like? Wonderful instructors who walk it like they talk it. I love how they are always trying to improve themselves along with their students. Master C is a big goofball, but make no mistake, when it's time to get serious, his bite is definitely worse than his bark. Though intimidating at times, Master C is someone who cares deeply about his students and seeks to bring out the best in them. Ms. Heather is very intuitive and has a knack for sensing people's comforts, discomforts, and capabilities. When I was at my worst and doubting myself, she came to my rescue, not only with action, but with words of understanding and affirmation. Mr. Jacob is intelligible and teaches with such clarity, declaration, and reassurance. I can always count on him to clear things up when I'm doubting my technique. Not to mention his words of encouragement, are well received in what can be a stressful environment. He also teaches the children. My one of my daughters, who is a Prep Warrior, loves him as her instructor. He makes their class fun and engaging. Mr. Jordan is quite acrobatic and excels in his abilities to perform his techniques and workouts. He's lighthearted and a joy to have as an instructor. Mr. Zeke is a Lil' and Prep Warrior instructor. He too is fun and engaging with the children. Which says a lot, because it's hard keeping the little one's attention. And of course, we can't forget the awesome ladies working at the front: Ms. Stephanie and Ms. Valerie. In addition to rocking it on the floor, in such a hectic environment, these ladies make the work look like cake. CFMAF, we're honored to be a part of the clan!

Workouts are amazing!! Bootcamp will whip that butt into shape! Not to mention everyone there is highly knowledgable and is always willing to go the extra mile to help you out! Highly recommend this place!

My daughter came home from school just gushing over CFMAF coming to her school and insisted on going to the seminar where she decided to join. We tried gymnastics and violin and she never showed any commitment after a month but we figured we’d give it a shot! Not going to lie, a month or so in she was ready to quit, it was hard and demanding and we had let her quit before. I have NEVER been more happy with what happened after telling her no. The teachers believe in her so much and she’s realized that being pushed to work harder makes her stronger! She ugly cried thru belt testing and earned her yellow belt! Now her little sister has joined and she was 100% ok extending her contract. We love you guys and I can’t thank you enough for toughening up my girls!!

Jolene Steier

So happy my family decided to join! Master C and the others are so patient and very encouraging! My daughter and I joined the beging of January and have loved every minute! Are relationship is much stronger! Work outs are tough but also fun! I also love that you are not compared to anyone. CFMAF simply wants you to be the best you, you can be! My son was hesitant to join, probably because I was scared also as he is in a wheelchair, but Mater C assured me that with a positive attitude and patients he would come around. He is now a member and loving it as well! Master C shows my son that just because he's in a chair it does not mean he can't do anything. Being a part of CFMAF has definitely helped with my self worth and confidence! I cant speek for my kids, but do see where it can help with theirs as well! Everyone there is so uplifting and encouraging! It's a great environment! I can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings! Thank you Master C and the rest of the crew for everything!

I have a very good friend who has been a student of Master C's for a year or more. Since he has been taking the courses his self esteem and confidence has skyrocketed. I have also witnessed a more relaxed individual that is comfortable with his own life and body. Master C's classes have made a positive impact in my life through the teachings he has delivered through my friend to me. Thank you for being a true positive force in the community by teaching and developing young men to exercise, think and do the right thing with the power they possess.

My family and I have been a part of the Calvary Family Martial Arts and Fitness family for over 4 years now. My children train on the martial arts side of the school where they not only have great martial art classes for the older kids and adults but also provide training for what they call the little warriors’. They train the kids and adults for real life experience and it’s a place you can feel confident in knowing when you kid is approached on the street by a stranger or even a friend that means them harm they know how to draw attention to themselves and those that mean them harm. Let’s be honest with ourselves how many schools train kids how to fight back when in reality our children are not strong enough to fight off an adult twice their size. I love that CFMAF teaches even a two and three year old how to cause enough pain by poking eyes or biting and other techniques not only to get away but to draw attention to the person or persons trying to cause them harm or even possible kidnapping. CFMAF not only focuses on martial arts but they also focus on Physical Fitness. They have several great personal trainers who work hard to make sure you are in the best possible condition you can be in. I am not self-motivated by any means but because of several health issues I decided it was past time to start thinking about where I want to be in 20 years. I asked myself do I want to be dead and miss seeing my son and daughters get married and have children or do I want to be a thorn in their sides and remind them every day why their mother loves them. I decided I wanted to be a thorn in my children’s side and I spoke with a personal trainer at CFMAF and I have been tortured, pushed beyond what I thought I was capable and made great progress. And Yes I said torture because I don’t believe there is an exercise in this world that I will ever think on fondly and call it something as simple as exercise. Since I have started with my trainer I have lost weight and no I will not say how much because a female simply does not reveal their weight, but my bad cholesterol has dropped by 20 points and my good cholesterol has been raised by 5 points and I will soon be asking to be taken off my high blood pressure pills because I don’t think I need them anymore however that is for the Dr. to decide. While my asthma is still out of control and I still have trouble even climbing a flight of stairs. I have been able to complete 3 consecutive torture sessions umm ooops I meant exercise sessions without the aid of my inhaler. My trainer keeps me motivated and has a smile every time I throw the evil look his way because he knows this is what is going to keep me around to be a thorn in my kid’s side. So I highly recommend going to see the people at CFMAF to start yourself on a longer and healthier lifestyle. And if you don’t want a personal trainer they have other great classes that will push you to your limits and meet your newer healthier you.

Master C and Heather are amazing instructors. They pay close attention to everyone in the class and make sure you have good form to prevent getting injured. They make the classes fun and worth coming to every time. The class is very challenging and different every time to keep you from getting complacent. I highly suggest CFMAF to anyone who truly wants to make a positive change in their life in many ways.

Sonya Valdez

Since joining CFMAF my kids confidence in themselves has gotten stronger. They enjoy going to class and learning all the self-defense techniques that the school offers. Plus the teachers and staff are nice and friendly.

William Jolley

First off i have to say this is our new home. I took my son in today for the very first time. HE LOVED IT!! Master C, his family and staff made us feel so welcomed and comfortable from the time we walked through the door. My son is what you would call a video gamer. Never wanted to play sports but loves to watch them. Which I'm totally fine with. But, in my mind i was saying you really need to do something besides play video games all day. So, to be honest i really didn't know how he was going to take to it. Yes, I was doubtful. Oh boy how i was wrong..Today he found his thing. I mean I've never seen him so excited for anything in his life!! Not only was he excited about the program but so was my daughter as well as myself. That being said my whole family is now part of the CFMAF FAMILY.

CFMAF is an outstanding school. For anyone new to martial arts, personal fitness, getting back into fitness or for families looking for somewhere that they can come together to grow and learn with each other-- this is the place. From the great owners, instructors , fellow families and members that make up the center there really is an overall sense of a "family environment" that is witnessed. As the school says, "You don't get what you wish for , you get what you work for." With that said , the school has earned every ounce of respect and praise that it has received.

My family has been members for 2 years. I like that it's much bigger than learning martial arts. The kids are held accountable not just in class, but in home and school too. My daughter started in the Basic Family class and a year later I joined the classes myself. I rarely see people connecting with the kids as well as Master "C" does. All the instructors have become like extended family to us. I can't imagine not being a part of CFMAF! They help my daughter and myself to be better people and I'm grateful they are in our lives. My daughter says "It's wonderful and I recommend all who read this join."

If you are looking for a Martial Arts class with caring instructors, this is the place!! They are not just another Martial Art Studio!! Master C & his family care about their community & the children in our community! Here is a review I left on Word of Mouth on Facebook!! CFMAF share in the joys of our "their" children's accomplishments!

“What a marked improvement – not only in your techniques, but also your self-esteem and your discipline.” These are words spoken to me by my close friends who would only ever compliment me in jest. Since joining the CFMAF family, I have felt better than ever. My energy has risen, my confidence has spiked, and my drive and motivation has gone through the roof. Master Isaac Costley and his training staff are the real deal. Not only are they well versed and more than qualified in martial arts, personal fitness/training, nutrition, even massage therapy, but they also bring an added value to the table – morals and ethics. Over the past 3 years, I have personally witnessed children go from being troubled and delinquent, to thriving and successful. I have personally seen adults go from being scared to go out at night to having the confidence to defend themselves should the need arise. Further, we don’t just learn to defend ourselves, but we learn to not put ourselves in situations where defending ourselves would be necessary. “The best fight ever fought, is the one never fought.” These are words I live by thanks to the teachings of Master “C” and his crew. His techniques work! Even with my previous experience in the Navy and being deployed to multiple combat zones with the Special Warfare Community, Master Costley has built upon and improved my techniques, tweaking them for my personal application. His knowledge of the human body and application of joint locks, pressure points, striking, and weapons are simply unmatched. Given the opportunity to train with more senior 8th and 9th degree black belts, I would still choose Master “C” in a heartbeat! He teaches real-world techniques that provide real-world results. This is not a school for playing around or to “buy” your black belt. This school is for those who are ready to improve their way of life, their confidence, and their ability to defend themselves and those they care about!

Excellent class for the Fitness Bootcamp! I will be going back for another class.

CFMAF is a wonderful place to increase your health and confidence. The staff really care about your mental health as well as your physical health. They teach techniques that are useful in real world situations. Great workout and great people!

Mike Youngblood

This place is one of its kind! Just a few things I love about CFMA is not only do they teach discipline in class but also about how real life is. The staff is strictly professional and definitely a awesome place for the whole family! I highly recommend them! You won't be disappointed! Master C is no joke!

Trystan comes home excited by his experience's at Calvary Family Martial Arts class!! Even with it being part of a punishment from teen court. He's found it to be hands on and has really enjoyed his instructors. And ask his father to continue the class . I appreciate the positive effects it has had on Trystan. And would encourage other parents to give them a try.

katie deakin

My children and I recently attended an abduction awareness workshop at our dojo lead by Master C. It was an incredible learning experience and we are so grateful for the invaluable drills he taught us! A really great guy and wonderful teacher! Thank you Master C!

There is a pressure to sign up for a long period of time. When signing up, there was a statement made about how the shortest contract available was for people who start things and don’t finish. That is a shaming and unnecessary statement. They make you feel like you are getting a great deal in this process. One night a month you can drop your kids for a parents night out and there are raffles, ect. But, in my calculations, just out right buying my kids a game system/bike/ect and paying a sitter once a month would be less than what I ultimately paid for the extras program. The contracts are hardcore for a family business. This is fine, but just know that on your end as a consumer. If you get into this and find it’s not healthy, as I did, you are stuck. One of our first classes, beginner class filled with young kids, the teacher gave a talk about how “…the word potential is a nice way of saying you suck.” Exact words. There will be many speeches in your class where you are not learning any technique. There are no drinking fountains and only a small bathroom to change in. They sell water instead. There is workout equipment, but you pay extra for it instead of it being included. They turn up the heat during certain classes and say you can wear a t-shirt that they provide for $30ish if you are too hot. Kids and higher belts teach as a part of their program instead of actual paid teachers. They will promise things like anti-abduction training, but it will be $300 or so per person for a whole weekend extra. Then they may close the classes after this extra session because they are now tired. Those of us who can not afford the extra session do not get to then have class. Otherwise, you will learn defense that any martial arts studio will teach you. They will push a ridiculous amount of exercises at you in even the young class and people often get hurt because of it. I witnessed a number of injury discussion and was myself injured. My boys stopped wanting to go after a young man forgot his gi (uniform) and was shamed by the owner in front of the entire class instead of just being told he could not participate. The class was then told that they would all do 50 pushups because of his mistake. This was a beginners, children’s class. Then they were told that next time, it was a 100, then 150, and so on. This is not safe or healthy. Team spirit is great, following through wonderful, but shaming and extremism is not. I have strong opinions about this place. After several months in, for many, many reasons, I chose to walk away from my money here for myself and my kids. I also feel like many, myself included until this point, feel afraid to post negative reviews. I signed up after being held up at gunpoint and felt like I was taken advantage of, promised many things that were not accurate, and then stuck in a contract that most other places do not have. I did try to work this out with discussion and was unable to. In my opinion, this is not a safe place. I would go elsewhere.

We Love attending CFMAF!!! We attend as a family together and love learning more about self defense, discipline, and martial arts! The instructors are amazing! We are so happy to be training at CFMAF.

My family has been at CFMAF for one year now. I originally wanted just my kids to do martial arts and found myself joining in on their fitness classes, using the gym ,and participating in the basic members classes. I started noticing that I was loosing weight slowly, but I was losing the weight that I had that was causing my high blood pressure and feelings of hopelessness. Now, I do not have high blood pressure nor do I feel hopeless about life. I have lost 50 lbs in a year's time and most of that was just doing the classes and I had not changed my diet. CFMAF has also been very helpful with my children. My kids are as stubborn as I am and as a parent I felt lost and like I was losing the battle. My youngest, being the most stubborn, they have helped him by teaching him the consequences that he makes from his choices. We now have less power struggles and it is getting easier to live with each other. CFMAF even offers Parents nights out. My husband and I take advantage of this every chance we get. Before CFMAF, my husband and I had forgotten what a date night was and we never had a chance to really communicate with each other, so our marriage was suffering. Now, we look forward to Parents night out so we can communicate with each other and we do not have the kids interrupting and we are still married! I love that you have to earn everything at CFMAF, even your white belt! There are no participation trophies at CFMAF. I think that it is how it should be. I am so happy that I learned about CFMAF. This place will change your life, if you let them help you. If you LISTEN to what the instructors say and teach you will be successful at CFMAF. CFMAF is reasonably priced compared with other local martial art facilities. They like to have fun, but will be stern when necessary. They are very compassionate about what they teach and I highly recommend them to anyone.

Woody Woodstock

Love this place! Not only are they teaching my kid self defense but helping my kid build confidence and character. Love the staff too! They are super nice, the place treats you like family. Raw and unfiltered.

SAVED MY LIFE!!!! I was headed for prison or a coffin... Thanks to Master C and his incredible program, I have overcome those odds. Over 10 years later I can still pick up the phone and get his advice and wisdom even though I'm states away. As a child and teenager I did not understand the importance of what I was learning not only for self defense but ethics, discipline, and responsibility as a man. There have been times I've seen people try to take advantage of his kindness and he has continued to actively pursue the community regardless. One thing I HAVE learned from him is setting boundaries. I have personally witnessed him and his staff give to people only to have them say bad and false things about the school because he couldn't give them even more. He always said not to let the negativity of 1 person affect the possibility of being a positive impact to 100 more. I am now a grown man with a family of my own and take the things he and the school have shown me into my everyday life and thoroughly enjoy sharing/teaching those things to my own children. BEST PROGRAM EVER!

Lissa Trovas

They're patient and always encouraging the kids no matter what but always teaching discipline in a good manner that kids understand

Ashton Adams

Amazing classes and a wonderful environment for kids of all ages. Master c cares for each kid as if they are his own. This place is a home away from home.

Laura Aldrich

CFMAF is amazing. I love the fitness class! They make working out fun. I don't think I have done the same workout in the 3 months I've been there.

Farasha Brown

My son has been attending classes for about 6 months now and I have seen a 180 turn around with his confidence. From the very first day that Jerome walked into the dojo, he felt right at home. I love how positive and consistent staff are with not only him but ALL students. The schedule is very flexible and the pricing is reasonable. My best investment for my sons future so far!

Cristi Dozeman

We have been going here for a few months and i love it. My family and I have learned so much in such a short time. They definitely build your self confidence. I Don't even like to work out but some how they got me doing it. Lol. Please come and join the family.

Payment detail issues aside, my family had quite a bad overall experience with CFMAF. Master C, the owner and main practitioner may not be the kind of role model you want to introduce into your child’s life. While it is clear that he is very accomplished and quite knowledgeable, his personality is the problem. If you choose to go there for training, or to take your kids there, know that about half of each lesson (based on my experience taking my kid there for about six months) will be Master C pontificating to his students. Regularly, rather than the martial arts instruction I was paying for, I got to listen to a variety of other things. Master C touting his success stories, so to speak, Master C talking about how much harder his own kids work than other people (possibly true, but most definitely not necessary), and at one point, though I don’t remember verbatim, he even impressed upon the kids that their parents are not to be trusted. Again, I’m choosing to skip the issues I have with their contracts, because part of the blame lies with me for not getting a better feel for the situation in the first place. No hard feelings, I know the man is just trying to work hard and provide for his loved ones, but I would definitely suggest working on the professional part of the job, and understand that he is running a business, not a platoon. ************************************************ Addition: For anyone thinking of going to this business, just follow along with my review and my wife Amanda’s. This is the type of treatment you can expect. I chose not to mention the specifics of the payment issue, because it isn’t relevant to what I said in my review, and IT ISNT ANYONE ELSES BUSINESS. CFMAF, however, chose to mention my past due account in an attempt to discredit my real and valid criticism of Mr. Costley’s lack of professionalism. I find it sad that you promote the family aspect of your business (it is, after all, the first F, in CFMAF) but you dont take the time to understand the FAMILIES patronize your business. Furthermore, in your reply you mentioned that you won’t allow me to not recognize the hard work that the other instructors at your business have put in, and put in on a daily basis, to teach people a skill that is rewarding, challenging, and in many cases life changing. Done. I won’t. I haven’t and I don’t plan to. They were all great.

alisia bernal

We came to a birthday party and got a free week of lessons. My son loved it so we decided to sign him up and haven't had one regret about it! His confidence has increased so much since starting the program. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. They are tough on the kids when it's necessary, and that's my favorite thing about this school.

Morgan Tempel

Best place in Colorado Springs to learn real applicable self defense! Highly knowledgeable and friendly instructors that love what they do.

H Williamson

A great place for the family to all do something together.

Demetria Jimenez

I had a very bad experience recently with CFMAF. I went to a "anti-abduction" seminar and was eager to have my son train with this school. When signing up, I was told that the form I filled out was for the billing company, but was not told that it was a contract. At that time I was also not informed that I had to pay an additonal $60 for private lessons to learn the basics. After signing up and attending our first few sessions, I was disappointed to observe that there was only one instructor per 15 kids/adults. My question is why do I pay so much money if they are not going to teach the basics within a standard class? Additionally, now I am forced to pay for a year of training that is not right for our needs. When I intitially approached the school about my discontentment with the program, they were quite rude and demeaning to me and I felt that their behavior was very unprofessional and disrespectful. Additionally, the billing company was extremely rude. I am reluctantly leaving this review because I feel like I might be bullied for remarking on my experience there, but I feel the responsibility to ensure that others don't get taken advantage of. Not every school is appropriate for everyone, and the fact that I am bound to a contract to a school that is unable to meet our families needs is unfortunate and expensive.

William Macbeth

Master C hosted a child abduction prevention seminar at the dojo that my family attends. He was hands on, knowledgeable, and great with the kids! He taught them in a way that was fun and that they were able to retain what he was showing them. Initially the kids didn't want to attend, they would rather stay home and play on their electronics. Once things got under way, the kids were hooked! They had a blast! They couldn't wait to get home to show their mother the different things they learned. Master C was very respectful, and personable and down to earth. Definitely hope he comes back to Syracuse for another seminar! Thank you Master C!

WHAT A WONDERFUL ORGANIZATION I have known Isaac well before he established Calvary and the experience has always been great. I can remember when he described the organization he would build, and here it is. I could not wait to place my children in his care. Both of my children have participated in Calvary for years. My daughter has received her Black Belt and my son is working on his. What I really appreciate about Calvary, is their concern for discipline in and out of classes and how one relates to the other. They have taught my kids that discipline is a mindset that is every day and everywhere. What they have learned there has translated into better students and better people. The organization has always cared, not only about what is taught in their classes, but also what they can give to the community. For those who do not know Isaac as I do, he was in the fire department for years and later transitioned into the police department. This is someone who as always cared about others. He was always doing training on the side but realized he could help others better by dedicating all of his time to training others how to protect themselves whether they could afford it or not. I have known for years which is more like a couple of decades that Isaac will go out of his way and deep into his own pockets to assist or scholarship kids that wanted to learn which could not afford the program. I have always respected the fact that he realized that not everyone is as fortunate as others are and he did not want to see kids suffer because of finances. Calvary does demonstrations at any school that will allow his organization to come in. He has had hundreds of children participate in free classes geared toward child safety and stranger relations. Calvary is not just about learning to fight or protecting one’s self, they do so much more. Isaac and all of the members of their team are committed to excellence. It is very important to them that the relationships they build are lasting and will go out of their way to make that happen. They are truly a great organization and all who choose to get to know Calvary Family Martial Arts will realize the same. Thanks for everything you do Marv

5 Stars, hands down best Location to trust your children with in the area!

Aspen DuPont

My 5yr old trains here and its absolutely wonderful! All the trainers are beyond helpful with someone who is disabled. My family all comes here to train and I couldn't ask for a better facility. My son has learned how to defend himself in situations in which he would need to, learned safety techniques incase of a home invasion, house fire, or possible threat in the general public. They don't just hand out belts, they make each individual work for them and push them to do their absolutley best. Especially for the kids, but not only in martial arts, but at home and school as well. I highly recommend training here!

Becky Regal

I took advantage of the $5 for 5 week special and I just finished my first class. This one class alone was worth the whole $5 plus $20 more. I felt dead at the end of class and yet SO ALIVE! The location is like a little hole in the wall place that you would never go to by just driving by. However the quality of the equipment and staff once you walk through that door was a pleasant surprise. I will be fully taking advantage of these quality workouts/training.

I've known Master C for a long time.. so of course I had to check him out when I was looking for a Martial Arts school for my son. After the first introductory class, we signed my oldest up. We are still deciding on the younger child.. not because Master C/Ms. Heather can't handle him.. but because he may not be quite ready... but when he IS ready, he will be attending this School too! The facility is very nice. A weight room for parents to use when the kiddos are in class if they wish, exercise machines (same thing), free week of class for parents who sign up a kiddo, Street Wise class for parents or for families (both are interesting and we are going to do both, eventually). It's pricey... much more than we were planning/hoping to spend... but so far definitely worth it! My oldest loves class and is learning how to defend himself against stranger abduction (a real issue in the area lately) and though it breaks my heart that he has to learn these things, it is very important. Ms. Heather seems to be very good with the littles. We were early one day and we sat in to watch a demo team practice. It was amazing! I can't wait to see my littles doing that type of stuff! Master C was amazing with the kids. Patient, kind (not screaming.. in fact, never heard anyone raise their voice at the kids!), informative, good at matching the kids skill levels.. I could go on and on... Last thing... One of my fav things... The demo team is not compromised of the "best of the school". While you have to be chosen to be on the demo team, you don't have to be the best.. I think that's a really great thing for the kid who is trying their best. It gives them an amazing confidence boost! We are planning to be around this place for a long long time and I greatly encourage anyone, adult or child, to check this place out if you are looking for a great place to learn! Classes of note: Lil Warriors age 3-7 Street Wise Family (how to protect self/family members under attack) Street Wise Adult (How to MESS up someone who is messing with your family) Cage Fighting Sparring Kick N It Conditioning

Loic Joseph

Great place, wonderful and very knowledgeable staff. Already feels like home and learning a ton! Would recommend this to everyone.

Deanna Hermanson

Love having my children enrolled in their school! The whole team is amazing.

Kerri Wedel

I absolutely love Isaac, Ms. Heather and the rest of the staff at Calvary Family Martial Arts. In response to some comments regarding cost, payments, contracts, etc., I can only speak to my own experience. When I signed up a year ago, the monthly cost, contract info, purchasing of their gloves, etc was thoroughly explained to me. Isaac has always been great with communication and never once have I felt that it's all about the money with him. Quite the opposite. He (and staff) genuinely cares for all clients and does so much for the community, especially within the Colorado Springs school districts. Kudos to the entire staff at Calvary Family Martial Arts!

The Alliance

CFMAF has been a blessing to me. They have gone above and beyond to help me and I have seen them consistently do this with others. They are big on doing what you say and following through. This is hard for some people today because in today’s society, people want to play the blame game. I find the integrity and accountability that is taught and shown to both children and adults. I highly recommend CFMAF. Take a trial class and find out for yourself. Is it an amazing family place.

Christopher Crawford

The Crawford family I am currently part of the family at CFMAF and I could not ask for a better environment for my family. Master C and Miss Heather are amazing people they bend over backwards to make sure that everyone is taken care, and up to speed on all of there belt level skills and fitness needs. The trainers at CFMAF are the best of the best. If you have a fitness goal and you have the will and drive your goals will be met and than some. Very family oriented and a positive environment. At CFMAF families can train together in the same class as well as giving your child skills to become a strong leader in everyday life, allso to protect themselves in the world we live in now. CFMAF staff is very community oriented, free anti abductions seminar's, parents night out, school talks, game nights for kids, free nerf parties, and birthday party packages. Where else can you drop your child off for a night of fun. And go out and have a adult night while your child is doing what a kid does best being a kid and having fun. The little warrior program is a must for every child. They learn basic striking, kicking and ABDUCTION TECHS. as we all know is a must for every child in this world. While learning they basic belt requirement skills they also develop leadership skills better discipline and make better choices in life decisions. SO WHY WAIT COME JOIN THE FUN NOW ARE FAMILY CAN NEVER BE TO BIG!!!!!!!!!

This place rocks!! Awesome staff and great members. Instruction and classes for the whole family. Getting more fit and more confident with each class. CFMAF has a very well rounded approach bringing fitness, discipline, focus, technique, and good old hard work together for not only learning self defense and martial arts but developing character and growing as a person.

Jimmy Phipps

CFMAF is a top level program. I am really impressed with there professional attitude and the positive environment they provide. I love their fitness program as well as there street wise martial arts training. This is an amazing school!!!

Cortnie Wise

I have been working out at CFMAF for 9 months -- the teachers are awesome, encouraging, and engaging! The trainers are professional, listen to what my goals are, and challenge me to be my best. I love attending here because the classes are never the same! They keep it fun and keep you laughing all while really challenging you to meet and exceed your goals!

Calvary Martial Arts and Fitness has a great family oriented atmosphere. It offers 2 free personal training sessions and a variety of different classes. This would be a great investment for anyone to start their marital arts training or those who just wish to get in shape. Isaac is an excellent teacher and has been training in martial arts for over 40 years. You should go in and check this place out, get your free sessions, and check out the different fitness classes.

Amanda Lucore

In response to CFMAF unprofessional response: I’m sorry you, master c, decided to “try” to put my personal business on blast with your response, but that is exactly why I stopped bringing my child to your establishment. The arrogance and pig headed type of person you are resulted in my decision. I was never married to said person. I never signed original contract. So get your story straight if you’re going to try to drag your current or former customer’s names and stories through the mud, as you so many times did in your google responses and during your classes.

Great place! I admit I may be biased, since he is my dad, but I have seen parents come in and hug my dad thanking him for what he has done. I have seen a single parent have her pricing reduced because she was struggling, but since she has still brought her children even during the rough times, my father honored her by reducing his rates (maybe i shouldn't say that, but I want you all to know his heart). I have seen little boys and pre teen boys bring him a card saying "Thank you for being the dad I never had" to then see my dad cry in front of an entire class as he read the card. Yes, it is his business that he uses to take care of me and my brothers and sister, but it is also his passion. He loves those in his school. If you do right by him, he does right by you. Isn't that the way it is in this world? I am proud of my dad not for just being my dad, but for truly caring for those who train with him at CFMAF.

Our child has been attending karate at CFMAF for what seems forever. He started at 3 years old and is now 6! He absolutely loves it. It gives it motivation, confidence and teaches amazing skills for personal development and life skills. We love how much they care about his success and how helpful they have been with out family as a whole. This is a great family environment and I don't see us leaving any time soon!

YM Fuselier

I met Calvary Family Martial Arts & Fitness "FAMILY" in 2003. We were relatively new to the Colorado Springs area & decided to join the YMCA as a family. Little did "I" know that signing-up would mean a GREAT IMPACT on my then 5 yr. old ~ ADHD/ODD son. My son was diagnosed as having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder AND Oppositional Defiant Disorder. He had a LOT going on in his little bottle and we were exhausted as parents. We decided to sign him up in the "little" karate class to help him learn control and how to focus. As a teacher, I knew that it was vital to his wellbeing if he understood how to gain control of his outbursts and disruptions, and while he was in the "little" karate class we would have an opportunity to work out. This "little" karate class became SO MUCH MORE to us. Master C (Isaac) taught "LJ" HOW to be a good leader, HOW to focus, HOW to pay attention, & more importantly HOW to channel his aggressions far beyond whatever we could do. Master C showed him that with a just a little training & practice he could do a GREAT job & be a GREAT kid. When my husband deployed to Iraq, Master C kept LJ on track & held him accountable for his behavior. LJ NEVER wanted to disappoint Master C. When our younger son was old enough to attend the MARTIAL ARTS class, we QUICKLY signed him up, and by that time we were ACTIVE members in the school! We FOLLOWED Master C to his NEW facility on the other side of Colorado Springs. That's just how much of a GREAT impact he had on our family AND our children! The children's curriculum showed me that this SCHOOL was not only about martial arts, but it taught the children how to have confidence in themselves AND how to defend themselves if they were ever attacked or someone would try to abduct them. I never felt that the class was too difficult or that Master C was too full of himself. He taught my son HOW to be great at ANYTHING he wanted to be & that experience has carried him to being a great DEFENSIVE END & DEFENSIVE LINE on the football field, especially as he enters HIGH SCHOOL this year! What touches me even more about THIS marital arts family is that even though we live in Germany now, Master C STILL sends my sons a "Happy Birthday" email EVERY YEAR! If you're looking for a FAMILY who will challenge you AND build you OR your children to greatness & have INTEGRITY, Calvary Family Martial Arts & Fitness IS the place to be. You will NOT regret the decision!

If you're looking for a place that challenges you physically, mentally and builds character, this is the place for you. In addition, the culture of Calvary Family Martial Arts and Fitness (CFMAF) is like a family. We celebrate things such as birthdays, personal victories such as receiving a higher belt, or improvement in cardio or even non martial art accomplishments such as a job promotion or receiving great grades for the semester (if a student). Instructors and peers alike are encouraging as we push each other to reach our maximum potential whether in cardio or improving our techniques . The staff really care that you understand the techniques and are willing to spend ample time with you until you perfect them. The instruction there is accommodating for any learning style. I am currently involved in the Adult program called Streetwise and enjoy it. In this program you do high-intensity cardio and learn a plethora of self-defense techniques that are applicable for use on the streets etc. I would highly encourage you to attend one of the free classes and do a tour at CFMAF, to see what we are about! You will be impressed!

Isaac Costley is one of the top instructors in the country and one of the most knowledgeable instructors I’ve ever met. His enthusiasm and passion for his craft is second to none, and he is a fantastic reality based self-defense practitioner. I have personally hired him to conduct self-defense seminars at my school in New York, and he never disappoints. Isaac has a wonderful facility, great staff and his students are hard-working and friendly team players. So if you want to grow and prosper and have a sense of confidence in defending yourself, CFMAF is definitely the place to go.

We have been at CFMAF since 2007 when my daughter started training there when she was 3 years old. And then I started training there with my daughter in 2011. I have trained in martial arts off and on since I was very young and have not ever found a martial arts school who has spent the time and quality they have done into my daughter into helping her succeed in training and in life, and has helped a disabled Veteran like me still be able to participate in martial arts. If you are loyal to the school, and by that, I mean show the desire to be and do your best, they will be loyal to you in helping you in and out of class. They have helped my family with conferences with my adopted daughter when she had behavior problems and supported her and us through thick and thin and we all have seen her grow and get better. When I was laid off from work for over a year and fell on some financial hardships, they worked with me on pricing and payments so that I could continue to train with my daughter and helped us with many other aspects of our attendance at school. TelI me, where do find that kind of loyalty between Instructors and student? As a disabled veteran, there are some things and moves I just cannot do. But they don't let that stop me from participating and learning martial arts. They work with me on the things I can do and hold me accountable in my performance of those things I can do. And if I give my best, they will give their best to me in class and beyond. I can honestly say you cannot find a better martial arts school. If are looking for real defense, or looking for place to help your child grow in self esteem and discipline, or looking for a place for your family to train then try Calvary Family Martial Arts. I highly recommend them for you or your family!

Both my boys love CFMAF. Master C and Heather makes classes fun but also teach respect, personal responsibility, safety and proper technique. You don't feel like one of the many - they always have time to answer questions and personally work with you. The atmosphere is family friendly and great for an entire family to participate.

Geoff Booth

Excellent instructors who teach with passion in great facilities. Offering both martial arts training as well as fitness and gym options.

I've been with CFMAF for about a solid week. My kids are in the basic program and I do the adult streetwise class. I love it! My kids enjoy as well. The instructors are helpful and encouraging. This is an awesome school and I am proud to attend. Update: I'm still attending. Lol. My kids not so much but I love going.
