Not a good place for heated pool therapy. They have a section for that in their indoor pool with ramp so I was excited at the possibility. They charge more than other places for this in town but the people seemed friendly, it had a ramp rather than a lift that is hard to obtain and they said it was heated satisfactorily for physician required pool therapy. I explained my neurodegenerative condition. The pool is not heated adequately per heated PT therapy standards for anyone with a condition that would actually require it not just prefer it including arthritis, neurodegenerative, connective tissue disorders, muscle spasms, etc. so it caused me severe muscle spasming and joint subluxations that required weeks to recover from. I expressed this concern and was told the heater was temporarily malfunctioning and was now fixed. So I tried again. Same result, weeks to recover and be able to get out of bed. I asked for a refund from the manager. Was told I would get a full refund considering the extenuating circumstances. Only received a partial refund and they said they charged me for two months I had membership. Only had membership for month and a half and all that time except 3 thirty min visits to the pool were spent in bed recovering from the damage the pool did to me. Very disappointed that they promised a full refund and then didn't deliver. Very disappointed I spent hundreds of dollars on this expensive lesson that the local hospital gym does not support my need to do medical heated pool therapy to reduce my muscle atrophy. I guess they don't keep it heated enough-90 degrees is what it should be-because of the swimmers on the other side of the same pool but they do not represent that upfront. I went there to save money because I didn't have the money for daily PT copays especially when I can't even do enough to warrant a physical therapist and instead lost a bunch of money I didn't have getting hurt. The only good I will say is it's good they have a ramp although watch out at the end of the ramp where it connects to the pool there is a large lip that I tripped on all three times which also hurt me. Also good is the people are friendly there but in the end, not helpful enough. Adding an edit: They did in the end after calling the manager multiple times give me close to a full refund. Thank you for that.

Customer service is horrible. Front desk staff are rude and unwelcoming. This place is more of a social gathering than a gym. Plenty of better options around town

It is a well managed facility & it boasts an Olympic size pool as well as a Sauna and Whirlpool, showers, locker room. I like that it is a safe place to work out and isnt overrun by grunting shouting 21 gun salutes. The price per month is a little high but worth it if you like to swim laps.

De only thing I don't like is there's no mirrors on de main floor only in class rooms. I like to watch what I'm doing, it helps keep a proper form & training to do de exercises properly I think that would help prevent an injury which is surprising that being said because it's de hospital & I would think that they would fit that into place somewhere (mirrors in de main floor with de machines & weights). Noticed that de staff doesn't really clean de whirl pool in de women's lockers. One day they told me they empty it half way & scrub de edges & fill it uP but several months went by & they were just dumping de water & filling it. I put a note in de suggestion box. Months have past & nothing changed. I've been busy lately used to go everyday during de summer. Haven't stopped because of difficult employees but I do have more options now & have been busy for awhile.

It needs a complete remodel!!! The staff however are friendly. The classes are fun and the equipment always worked well when I belonged there. I just the price is a bit steep for what you get in return. It just needs a major overhaul! It needs new equipment and new interior design. It’s 2019! It’s time for a change.

Good gym. Cheaper than mercy fitness. Biggest drawback for me it's that there is only one squat rack, so I often have to wait for someone to finish using it. Pool is also good if you don't mind waiting for someone to get out and free up a lane. Plenty of cardio machines...

Very old equipment. One new cable machine and a double sided power rack in over a decade is all that's modern. No specialty barbells and the barbells they have are of low quality. They do have a sauna and whirlpool otherwise 1 star. They are clean but membership is $52/month have you have to have a year contract. $99 to cancel contract early. Most people get a 15%-%30 discount which would be $44 - $36/month. This is very expensive compared to the other local facilities. So unless you cannot live without a sauna you should look elsewhere.

The classes were great but when it was time to cancel, they added a fee to my account. They couldnt give me a reason as to the late fee. They claimed it was payment related but would not accept anything from the bank showing that the payment was never declined in order to waive it. This payment had been on auto draft and had never had an issue. The manager behind the desk simply said that it didn't matter because even if it was an error they do not waive the $25 fee they gave me. They simply don't do that. Very disappointed at the way they handled this. After completing my year,I went ahead and paid the full amount just to end it today. Once again, the classes were great when I attended but the unexplainable, doesn't matter if it was our error attitude really stuck with me. I dont like surprise fees, especially when i am told that i can prove my innocence but the fee stays.

This place is in need of some serious remodel, like, it needed it 15 years ago. Locker area, showers, sauna and most equipment (not all) are in great need to being worked on or remodeled. Most areas (locker rooms) look dirty and unkept

Prices are high relative to comparable places in Fort Smith, however, seems to be cleaner and well maintained. Customer service is extremely hit or miss. They seem to only be friendly with people they know. The lady who runs it only ever will speak through her employees and completely refuses to speak with customers. They do make have many classes available to their members. Things that are good are very good but the way they treat customers is poor. Three stars.

It's a reasonably priced fitness center located at the back enterance area of Sparks Hospital. Enjoy your choice of training programs to suit your needs for your personal goals they have a huge swimming pool. Also try the sauna or hot tub located in the locker room area. You can also enjoy yoga if you take the elevator, near the receptionist, it's only a short ride one floor up. Have fun getting fit at Marvin Altmans fitness center it's always an enjoyable experience for me hope to see you soon!

LOVE the staff, LOVE the fact that it isn't a hangout or go to meet people. It is a fitness center to help you get healthy and stay healthy. I do wish there was a co-ed hot tub out by the pool so me and the hubby could relax together after our workout. No it isn't all blingy, the facility is always in good working order as well as clean. Except for the nasty slobs that go in and junk the place up, the staff can only make so many trips to pick up towels in a shift. PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ADULTS! I love being part of Marvin Altman fitness center! Keep up the good work!
