We offer you the opinions of people like you who used the products and services of The Alaska Club West (Gym) in Alaska.
As of day the firm has a rating of 3.6 stars out of 5 and the score is based on 92 reviews.
As you can see it reaches an feddbacks average is very high, and it is based on a very high number of reviews, so we can say that the valuation is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to give their feddback when they've done well with the business, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to give reviews when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Gym corresponds to the category of Gym.
Love this gym even if it is pretty expensive
Not a satisfied customer, cancelled membership
There's better spas
Prepare to pay an arm and a leg for a club that provides the worst customer service. From long wait times to use tour benefits to flat out being ignored by the staff. Find another club to join.
Omgosh, staff very ... preoccupied.... no, annoyed, at my premembership questions, to the point of , finding a person that can answer it... they made stuff up or dismissed me completely ! The GM made eye contact with me , and from her office , diliberty avoided me. I had question specifically for the General Manager! As far as customer service, I don’t think anyone ever trained then! so sad the 25 people I was representing will now enjoy a different membership at a different club. Unfortunate the Alaska Club West ‘s employee’s phones were more important then Their potential clients! 11/26/18 8:02pm
Way too expensive for what you get. They are very sneaky about making you pay more money. Inconsistent rules on cancelling membership between sales associates. They are just after your money. I will never be a member again
Overhead music way too loud. Downtown gym is better.
The Alaska Club is great if you have endless amount of money to spend on their services. However, when I attempted to cancel my membership to go to a less expensive gym, they neglected to explain to me that I needed 30 days notice despite the fact that I cancelled two weeks in advance and then charged my account and refused to reverse the charge. They will nickel and dime you for everything they can and there is no value in their services.
Clean bathroom and I would like to recognize a staff with the excellent cleaning provided by Robin Natividad! Keep up the good work. An asset to the company for making sure, the place is safely clean. Robin is approachable and courteous.
I never really cared about weither i went to the womens only side vs the normal side but started going on the womens side and the atmosphere is slightly different for the better and i realize i am more comfortable on that side and prefer it now. So glad i have that option.
Great, clean environment. Classes are a lot of fun, and they have a broad range or workout equipment. Memberships and day passes are expensive.
Had my nephew's birthday party at the Alaska club. Fun and safe environment.
This place has so much to offer , but the rates were too high.. decided to join another gym which has more affordable plan...
awesome gym, good equipment, and friendly staff.
Clean abd well maintained great hours needs a Jacuzzi or pool
Best gym in AK lit af come at me bro
Alaska club body shames It is a small guy; very disappointed for the price we pay. Apparently the old stingy Russia ladies get upset when you wear shorts and a T-shirt into the sauna. Because it says swim suit or naked. Sorry that i don’t feel comfortable in my body, to sit in a sauna naked! They felt the need to go tell management and try to get me and a few other ladies i never meet kicked out because of this. If i can wear a shorts and a T-shirt into a pool, i don’t see why i couldn’t wear it in the sauna because i am ashamed of my body after 2 kids! If i can’t wear a T-shirt and shorts, i really don’t see why people can be spread eagle in there, forcing me to see things i don’t want to see.
My favorite gym of all time - I went here 7 years before I moved out of state. Its very well maintained, even during peak hours its possible to get on a machine. The machines they use feel good, there are multiple options as its a large gym. Its open 24 hours and theres been times in the middle of the night where I could practice my basketball free throwing in an empty court. I Its been two years since I went here because I moved away, and no other gym (even AK club locations) has been as good. The downside is Alaska club (all locations) is it is pretty expensive, and their membership policies are questionable. Be prepared for the financial commitment when signing with AK club, but if you are gonna use the gym frequently and dont mind paying 2-4 times as much as cheap gym, it is worth it
24hrs, good gym
The equipment and facility are typically clean and in good working order. The membership dues are atypically high for a gym. The best part about going to the West location is their front desk host, Maribel. She always goes out of her way to greet you when entering, very attentive when asking a question or requesting club services, and wishes you a good day when leaving. She is genuinely kind and inviting!
Worst customer service ever, lazy sales staff that when you tell them to cancel your membership they tell you to go call accounting and so they can get back on their phones, and they even sigh when you tell them that you know they can do it and don't want to do it. The most unprofessional gym staff I have ever seen in my whole life, not even Planet Fitness is like this! I recommend you DON'T sign up for this gym and save the hassle of dealing with such unprofessional staff!
Uncompetitive pricing. The "promotion" is a scam. Made a personal training appt with Erin, when I called to confirm I'd be meeting him at East... I call him after 10 minutes late and he's actually at West.... Literally pulled a Patrick star. Rating all the clubs 1 star to help me feel better about wasting the money on subpar service.
stay way they will charge you 700 dollars even if you never step foot the club
Customer service is often terrible. Rare for anyone to own a problem and staff is undertrained. Sometimes they want to help and sometimes they do help, but I experience problem after problem. They do not seem focused on the customer experience.
Lied about their free trial and unresponsive when I want to cancel it. I smell fraudulent and unethical business practices. Do not give them a chance.
Expensive, and very nickle and dimey. A good gym if you like 24 hour access and newish gym equipment. The women’s steam room and jacuzzi is nice when it’s working. I’ve been a member just 3 weeks and have seen the jacuzzi closed off a lot. Parking isn’t very good. Be prepared to park in front of Walgreens (which is probably not recommended) or several yards away closer to Kaladi Cafe.
Lots of equipment
Great for the whole family.
Great place, great staff, and great machines. Also have a nice basketball court.
Bit uppity but very nice and clean.
Ripp off. They'll find a way to take your money
Equipment is much better at this location than others. Staff and cleanliness is hit or miss. Charles is great!
Available resources
Great place to work out
Great facility. A whole room dedicated for tredmill and a basketball court. However, there are only 3 power racks making a session difficult to finish during peak hours. Could use more.
Fun place to relax after work. Kids (and parents) can enjoy the pool or kids at childcare and parents doing a workout or a massage?! What?! Oh yeah!
Clean joint with great service!
I love the group Fitness options. Spin, Yoga, group power, etc.
Tyler my PT was awesome... Great kid..
OMG. I worked out so hard.
I've been a member for about 7 months now and I'm still not complaining about the monthly payments. Perhaps you should get a membership at Planet Fitness and tell everyone about the money you're saving compared to TAC while never actually visiting the gym.
Always friendly and clean. I love how their towels are displayed in the locker room.
I love the Alaska club! My kids enjoy the child care so much they ask to go to the gym! The equipment is new and they're always improving. I've been a member for almost 8 years and it's been awesome! They even have group fitness classes for my kids and swimming pools and splash parks and they're 24/7. I Upgraded from planet fitness and I'm very glad I did. The cheap gyms are always crowded and dirty. Worth the investment.
Favorite gym, the internet sucks a lot though. So, download music before you come here.
I've been a member for 16 years. Awesome place.
I didn’t use to hate it, but I’m beginning to. I talked to the manager today and I’m sure the AK Club account will say, “we’ve talked about this”, but the point of a review is to let everyone else know about being treated so poorly. I’m a pastor and generally a nice person. I’m not just prone to blowups or complaining to get my way. I’m pretty reasonable in general, so take this for whatever it’s worth. The Alaska Club WEST has been my gym for 11 years (or more...), but not for much longer. They continue to make changes that I’m sure are profitable for their business, but it’s the average customer who loses. They took all the cardio equipment and shoved it in a poorly ventilated, much smaller space and turned some fans on, hoping that might keep the air moving more, but if you are like me and you’ve been a member for 10+ years, you see the way they’ve catered to the opportunity to do group training (10 people EACH PAYING for what you used to get in a one-on-one session - ) and they’ve transformed what once felt like a gym for everyone into a gym for gym rats. If you’re a body builder, you’ll feel right at home, walking past all the mirrors and muscle clad people waiting to greet you the moment you walk in. It used to be that if you didn’t want that shame, you didn’t have to go into the body building area. If you have a normal to large body type like me, you’ll just feel inadequate to be there. They used to go out of their way to help out the customer, but now they have no interest in people. Just policies. For 11+ years, you knew you could time your workout so that you could watch playoffs (in most sports) and if it wasn’t on, they’d put it on for you. No longer. They do NOT change channels. Nevermind that it’s the mlb playoffs. (This was the incident that precipitated my review, but it’s just the straw that broke the camel’s back.) They’d rather you watch news on 5 channels and Harry and Ellen. And don’t come on Sunday nights. At least 50% of the time, they don’t have clean towels on Sunday nights. The management here changes about once every three months to a year and so the members actually know more about their policies than their management. Most changes just get made with no prior communication and then they just apologize for the fallout. I’m just tired of it. They do not care about their people the way they used to and there are plenty of less expensive gyms in town where you can be treated the same if not better.
A lot of people don't rerack weights or put in wrong spots, even some of trainers, but they have newer equipment that is nice.
Great kids rock gym
If you're looking for a gym with lots of extras and new equipment then The Alaska Club West might be worth joining. Not the cheapest gym and you'll need time to complete the sign-up. If you can survive the paperwork then you'll find the equipment is some of the best in the area. The Alaska Club West membership allows entry into other The Alaska Club locations such as Downtown Anchorage and Palmer. The Alaska Club West has plenty of parking compared to other gyms in the area. Open 24/7 with staff available. Trainers are easy to schedule along with tanning, massages, and workout classes. If the weather is poor and it's 5PM then you'll find plenty of members here. Stop reading and make some gains!
The customer service isn't what it used to be. The contracts are like traps. The sales team is too aggressive.
Great gym with a bunch of state of the art equipment no pool at this location however they are open 24 hours
Too many meatheads that takes up multiple machines.
Went once, desided not to go anymore because the lifting equip was old. Tried to cancel the next day " that will be $500". Stay away from these thieves.
Terrible employees
Hey Ty thank you for the excellent training session
Has everything one would need. Including a hot sauna for afterwards
State of the art equipment and friendly staff.
Like all other Ak Clubs, ridiculously expensive and they BULLY you into yearly contracts.
I would honestly give this location zero stars if I could. Hear me when I say the West Club’s customer service is HORRIBLE! The facility itself is fine but the operation and its employees are dreadful when it comes to actually helping their customers or answering questions, it’s always the ‘run around’. Ugh if you can try another location, the South club is amazing and they have a pool. Anything is better than dealing with the people at this location. Pitiful.
