Great place to have fun

It is a nice to work out. Has a steam room and pool. GReat swimming lessons.

Charley Neal

Fun, fun, fun. Great group fitness, areas for the kids. If you go every day and really make the most of it the cost really isn't that much

Angel n

The main pool area definitely needs stairs. The pool area is very cold and drafty in kids zone areas, cold breezes from both locker room doors. Needs more kids classes. Needs more parking and lower rates for families. Maybe add just a pool membership option. The kids daycare space is way too loud making it hard for infants to be comfortable. Needs to separate the infant section from the loud big kid play area. Like the app addition for the treadmills though.

If your able to go else where do it. Yea it has more then other gyms yet most that are mangers here are stuck up and won't allow you to do anything and they keep changing the rules on what you are able to do and what your not. I wouldn't come here if your able to go to another gym.

Terry Mitchell

We really like the Alaska Club. It's always clean and everyone that works at the club are very friendly, and is always there to help you.

Read the small print of the contract! We got punked into having some membership plus fee when we were told it was a free trial for the first 4 weeks! They did try to make it right for us and gave us a small reimbursement though.

The Alaska club has been one of the worse companies I have ever dealt with. They are NOT customer friendly and have never gone out of their way to make me feel valued in any issue I have had with them. Their facility, esp locker rooms are not clean. I have been a member on and off for 10 years and they have NEVER gone out of their way to resolve an issue in my favor. I SERIOUSLY advise NOT becoming a member.

Melissa Joy

Expensive. But love the place...

It all started With a phone call asking me if my family would like to take advantage of the one week fee trial for new and returning Alaska Club members, (my family and I had a previous membership a few years ago).. I got my two youngest boys(10&13yrs) and their 16yr old brother whom were all looking forward to going to the pool to play and swim, initially I planned to stay in the pool area with them and either do the tour of the facility after were done swimming, But just then the woman (akclub employee) informed me that there's a life guard on duty but when we used to have a membership we spent a lot of time with the kids in the pool area I hardly ever saw a lifeguard come there maybe just to pass througheven though they are 13-10&16 which they can swim and they look out for each other I was still very uncomfortable about leaving them so she convinced me it was OK to leave my boys at the pool it's safe she said (I was uneasy) so I go with her on a "Tour of the new upgrades, amenities, which went by in under 7min then like as soon as she walks me slowly thru the last part of the gym I quickly realized that she ended us up right at her office where she has books with different pricing and different levels of pricing and what comes with that perticullar level or "package, So before I really knew what was going on I was being told by someone who talks a good talk and showed packages that I could pick from and then your being pushed for to make a decision. I didn't have my husband with me and my kids are in the pool without me(so distracted) but when she was pushing me to "make a decision" I wasn't comfortable feeling pressured like that, I told her I didn't want to make a decision without discussing it with my husband I told her I can talk to him when I get home and I would get back ahold of her with my decision.. But that wasn't enough for her to let me go (BTW kids are in pool by them selves for like 30 min I'm starting to panic THEY STILL him she tried to insist again when I finally got very serious with her and told her flat out no I'm not going to put him on the spot like that, she tried to bring in another woman who says she's higher up and if I sign up now she will throw in free tanning and other amenities that were very nice and anyone would love (bribery) I had been trying to make clear I was not interested in committing to anything until I've talked to my husband and then I just stood up and said straight out this meeting is OVER you've kept me from my kids (who are swimming without me there) long enough I'm leaving and going to be with my boys and try to have fun for my time I had left Literally less than a week after I went to the Alaska Club my phone started ringing it was that same lady calling me to try to pressure me still so I was straight to the point and told her I wasn't interested and to please stop calling it's been 2 to 3 months since I was there they don't Call me randomly I've got them in my contacts so I don't answer the stupid calls anymore anyway

Watch for their scams! The Alaska Club has no problem taking advantage of people knowing that 80% of people will not go past the 5 month mark, let alone the 3 month. The Alaska Club will attempt to pull you in with a 3 month comfort guarantee and tell you, "you can cancel any time in the 3 months", This is not the case. Read your contract before signing. 1: You must have a health consultation within 3 months (good luck scheduling it). But Not bad right? Keep reading 2: You must go to the gym a certain number of times which they will attempt to verify using security camers make sure you don't simply go in, scan and leave. This is why they're so eager to get your photo day 1. 3: you can cancel within the first 2 months if you pay $500.00 and submit a 30 day notice. 4: you can only cancel the membership on the 3rd month (thus paying 200.00 after the 1st "free" month) and submit a written notice 10 days of your final 3 month time period expiration. So their comfort guarantee is a scam. The salesmen will not verbally inform you of these caveats, in fact they'll avoid speaking them completely. I highly suggest avoiding this company all together, but if you go anyway, i at least suggest reading the ENTIRE contract and taking all the time you need to do so and shop around.

marcus barnes

Everything has been great. The staff is cool and now they're offering free daycare for preferred members. The only bad thing I can point out is every time I've been in the family locker room rooms they have been dirty. So if y'all could work on that it would be great, otherwise everything is good!

Melinda Vennell

Awesome place, love the staff they are friendly and helpful. I love going to the gym.

Im not a member: Purchased swim lessons for my Grand Daughters Christmas gift for one month. I was sent lesson dates and my receipt via email. Lessons were over on 27th. I learned that my Grand Daughter had another month of lessons. Turns out I was charged another $114.00 to my charge card. I didn't authorize another charge to my card. I had no emailed receipt like I did the first time. My daughter said the swim teacher said they had another month of lessons. I wouldn't of know that I had been charged if it wasn't for her letting me know. I tried to contact the manager Jessica. I had a runaround just trying to find her. I called Palmer AC and was told the manager was right there. The person gets back on the phone and says they were mistaken. I said sounds like she is there just doesn't want to talk. I let the person know my situation with the double charge and she still wouldn't get on the phone to talk to me. NOT VERY HAPPY WITH ALASKA CLUB! Won't return.

Maya Alaska

Disappointed today, have been going to the Alaska club for a year now. Today for the first time my 8 year old couldn't go to the 8 years and older kid area while I worked out because I don't have a family plan. They said I would have to buy her a guest pass to sit there. I have membership plus which includes free child care but apparently if she wants to sit in the older kids area it's not allowed. Pretty bummed because we have really enjoyed going on the weekends but I don't blame her for not wanting to hang out in the toddler area when there is a really cool older kids area across the hall. Pretty lame alaska club.

Love amenities, design, services and cleanliness. Very attentive and helpful workers.Love sauna , swimming pool, hydromassage and mini cafeteria.Good open hours as well.

Daniel Walmer

The Alaska club is nice and convenient one thing I do not like is letting children ruin my time in the hot tub And another thing I dislike is how expensive it is but they have a lot of options not like any other club. Front desk people are always friendly other staff not so much!!!

Richard Orthmann

You had better like it because if you ever quit there going to pay out of the nose. Make them read you the contract and listen hard, or you will be sorry!

Deborah Simpson

I've been a member of Alaska Club for 30+ years-- For less than $3 per day, i can swim, go to yoga classes, spend an hour on a recumbent bike watching my favorite TV show while getting a good workout- AND I can do this anywhere I travel in the state of Alaska. I love the Alaska Club - Staff are always friendly and helpful, and the Club is constantly updating equipment and services. It's absolutely awesome!

largentco

I'm a firm believer that good, honest businesses, whose primary focus is the quality of their service and the satisfaction of their customers, shouldn't have to require a contract to retain business. The goal should be to offer a service that the customer wants to return to, and not obligated to get their money's worth. I sure do appreciate the pride of local businesses who strive to provide better, less expensive services for us (overcharged) Alaskans. It's unfortunate that The Alaska Club isn't one of those organizations. Competition will eventually force them to change or force them out of business. Staying healthy shouldn't cost the equivalent of 30 Big Mac's per month. Something's wrong with that picture...

This is a really clean facility and the staff is very friendly! The value for your dollar is average for Alaska gyms in the area but it has plenty of amenities such as a day care, rock wall, and pool with a splash pad. Our family loves going to the gym and trying out the different activities. The play area is clean and the staff are knowledgeable about caring for the kids. The swimming lessons are helpful and worth the price as well. The Rock climbing certification class was really informative and nice to be able to complete since you get to use the wall by yourself after you are certified. The team training classes are invigorating and get you moving really well! They are a bit pricey on top of the membership but nice to try out once in awhile. The racket ball and basketball courts work well and have satisfactory equipment available as well. We will continue our membership.

I love this place, all of the staff are very nice and there are so many exercise options to choose from, along with tanning, massages, dance and fitness classes, basketball, pool and hot tubs, saunas, rock climbing.. it's definitely a fun experience

I work in Human Services as a Direct Service Provider and take my clients here often. The Staff knows us by name and are very friendly each visit. I enjoy that the AK Club has so much to offer other than the "regular" work out equipment. In the winter there isn't anything better than sitting in the steam room or their dry sauna. I utilize the pool often and have never had a problem with the cleanliness and always see Staff checking the water. They also have fun things for kids to do while parents work out or that they can do with their parents and I think that is super important.

Whitney Simpson

Worse use of our money yet. We moved to the valley about 7 months ago and got a membership here first thing. We initially liked the facilities, amenities and the pool. Didn't take long to realize the staff was very unfriendly (especially the manager), facilities are very dirty, towels aren't folded in locker rooms or are mixed with dirty ones, the hours of this gym are short and inconvenient to those who work long hours and commute from Anchorage everyday. Also, my husband cut his head on the pool filter which we initially thought was his mistake because he was a tall guy in the "kids pool" (one with the slide). Our very next pool trip there (a few weeks later) he cut his foot on the exact same spot after going down the slide. He confronted the manager about this and he started cursing at my husband and blaming it on him! He was so unprofessional and it baffles me that he has a job. After talking to all the ladies in the locker room, I'm surprised anyone goes to this gym. Everyone I talked to was unhappy. Also, the pool area is FREEZING and we can't take our 2 year old there anymore because his lips turn blue and he cries the whole time. Manager said it's cold because maintenance was opening and closing the outer door but it's cold every single time we come. It is not baby friendly. We had also signed him up for baby/toddler swim classes which we paid for and it ended up being nothing more than a few days of a lifeguard sitting in the pool while parents teach their kids to swim (which we were already doing but wanted a pro to actually TEACH our kid). We never got a refund for that class like the manager promised. The tanning beds never work, bulbs are old, spray tan machine was always dirty, hydro massage has never worked since we've had membership, swimsuit dryers are always broken, childcare hours are inconvenient to those who work. We were also told by the manager to contact the GM about ending our contract with this gym but she doesn't answer the phone and we've left multiple voicemails at her office. We are so displeased with this poor excuse of an establishment and want out of our contract. If you are looking for all of the ammenities they claim to offer, keep looking!

Not great great, crowded spaces, too much shoved in on space, unfriendly staff. Greed come to mind on pricing. To much monies for so little

T Martin

I like how friendly the staff is. I don't care for how small the basketball court is. I think we pay for many things we don't use...So, it's ok. :)

Charles Jeska

I have been a member since Sept of 2018. I frequent the Wasilla and ER campuses. The Valley Club staff is friendly and the gym is usually clean and staffed. The machines work and the pool and hot tub are always in use. My monthly fee is worthwhile because I use the gym at least 5 times a week. I have recommended this Club to many friends.

Christine Nelson

I go here on and off and am never disappointed by the friendly staff. Katie or Will are always there to greet me as I arrive and leave for my workout. Sheyenne is wonderful as well, willing to help with any questions or concern that may come up. Over great club and worth every penny.

Yagami Light

Great gym. Only downfall is the price. Cost way to muxh for it to not be 24 hour gym where feel you get your money worth.

The cleaning staff doesn't change the dirty water in the jacuzzi at man's adult locker room often. The floor beside of the jacuzzi is dirty and a lot of water all the time after 4pm. They should change the dirty water in the jacuzzi every day and pay more attention to the cleaning!!!!!!

Sierra Kinworthy

Incredibly unethical business practices. Join another gym. Your membership experience will be one of constantly watching your bill for unauthorized charges, dealing with an extremely unprofessional accounting department, and tearing your hair out over the apathy of customer service.

J Pale

The gym is expansive and covers not only a lot of square footage but also a variety of free weights, treadmills, pool activities, a theater and cross fit areas. The family locker rooms are dated and often do not have hot water but the pool and play area for kids about evens it up. The staff are helpful, albeit often overwhelmed at peak hours.

Jacqueline Hand

First day of my membership and I've been yelled at by the manager Jessica, and have a door slammed in my face by the lifeguard Greg! But this pass has something to do with my children for Homeschool as well as to try to remedy a medical condition and not only has it put me under more stress but I put my children under stress as well.

My family & I have been members since December 2013. We have used the club regularly until this summer. I am happy with most things at the club EXCEPT the basketball court. We were told in December that lines would be painted on the courts indicating the key/free throw line. We were told this repeatedly by various people at the club until recently. I pressed a personal trainer and she was so kind to actually research it and figure it out. NO. In fact, there is no plan to paint lines. WHY IN THE WORLD?!!!! This is such an easy, basic thing to do. PLEASE, just a free throw line?!!! That really isn't that expensive. We are a family of 6 and this will definitely affect our membership. We referred another family of 6. They are fed up over the lines and will soon be moving their membership to the AT&T Center. This has been so frustrating!!!

I’ve tried a few times just to get membership pricing and have been given the run around from all of the rude staff I spoke with. I was told they were closed when they weren’t and was told I couldn’t get pricing over the phone but also when I go to the gyms the person who gives the pricing info isn’t there. Most of all I can’t believe how rude staff (courntey I believe I spoke with) is, they obviously aren’t interested in new business.

Super expensive and if you get a package such as, the Platinum or Good Life you won't be able to use the services provided in them as they are under staff and not committed to schedules. I have been trying to use the service in my Good Life for the past 3 months and the first month couldn't book since all the spots were full which means I did not get to use the service for that month as they don't roll over. Also I was scheduled for the next month and my appointment was canceled due to staff being out. This June 2017 I originally had an appointment the first of the month and was rescheduled till the 18th which I doubt I will get the service since previous experience. I addressed the issue and due to mental incapabilities to handle constructive criticism and take things personally the issues can not be fixed. I would give it zero Estrella's (stars). Also I'm in a contract and can NOT cancel as it costs $800 to cancel this unprofessional membership. Finally, the system is designed to screw the customer over when switching to a "cheaper" plan as they have you do everything through e-mail, one has to print the paper work, sign, scan & forward. However, the same same scenario does not happen when convenience is narrowed down to taking card payments or when switching bank accounts. The company is just interested in your money and locking you into a contract. Point proven. You heard it from a NAVY VETERAN. Do not sign a contract with them.

Denise Pharr

Not worth the money you pay.

7limey

After you cancel your membership, you will be charged for THE NEXT 2 MONTHS. ITS IN THEIR LAWYER-WRITTEN CONTRACT. A filthy money-hungry company. These guys are here to take your money and when you're done, take some more. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GYM if you don't appreciate being scammed with hidden fees and insane cancellation times.

Really great place for swimming, working out, and just overall not that bad. However, the membership fees are quite expensive and is kind of worth it only if you're going as a family. In addition, when I went in to see how much the membership fee would cost, the person that was giving us a tour felt very semi-"aggressive" in making sure we signed up when we only went in to look. So I'd say when going in, be on your guard and don't lose to their membership plans right away. Also, I didn't have this specific experince but I've heard that many people have been "scammed" in some shape or form because they werent noticed about an enrollment fee or that there is a 1-year commitment, so watch out and ask questions about that. Also, personally, they told me for me they would not apply the $800 enrollment fee, but I've heard some have actually paid that, so be stubborn about it and they might give you that "promo" as well. Furthermore, when giving you a tour, the person giving me the tour was saying words such as "cheap places", basically trying to emphasize that other "cheap gyms" were not as great as this one. Don't let that fool you, Body Renewal has pretty much almost the same number of treadmills and cardio stuff as Alaska Club so don't fall for it. I'm not saying they are lying or claiming they are frauds, just evidence. But going in to the actual gym, it's clean and not bad. There are a lot of treadmills and bicycles. The pool is fairly large and there are jacuzzis and spas there as well. The main workout area is clean again, approximately 4-6 stations for the classic deadlifts, squats, and etc. They also have rock climbing which is located right when you enter. I'd suggest asking for a 3-day pass to see if you're interested because there are cheaper options if you're going to be working out alone and only working out without swimming and all that. The interior is pretty nice until you reach the hallway that connects many things, the paint is pretty beat up and looks like it has never been finished painting and starts to smell kind of weird, but not to the point where you get knocked out. But overall, a decent gym.

Payson White

Jay J

good gym...watch out for ridiculous membership fees that they do not inform you about..mine went from 20 dollars to 93 dollars without any notice...incredibly disappointed in the office workers...trainers are awesome though!

dana r. mudd

super clean club, great, friendly, smiling faces greet you as you arrive, helpful and accommodating to your every need as far as i can tell. :)

Forrest James Pearce

To be completely honest, Alaska Club is what these comments say, "money hungery", "has a terrible accounting setup", and "too expensive", but they have a great gym setup. If you want to have a good workout and see results fast, the Alaska Club has what you need and can help you get there. I very much dislike the price they have and the contracts they force you to sign but if your goal is to be healthier with a more relaxed environment, this is the gym for you. The benefit of the price is there are less amped up teenagers there, because they cant afford it, allowing a more family friendly feel. The staff there are very friendly and try to help your day be better, doesn't always work but the efforts there. In the end, terrible price, bad accounting staff, great equipment, and a good workout.

Zero stars if that were possible. Make sure you read and can complete everything you sign. Can't emphasize enough how much hardship they put you through. The Alaska club Is ridiculously awful. Never will I ever get a membership there or let a family member do so. I highly do not recommend the Alaska club.

Love this placs. Great instructors

Kassidy Lee

My husband went with a friend using the buddy pass. for an HOUR they kept trying to get him to sign up for a membership but my husband clearly didn’t want one yet and still wanted to try the place out. Through out the course of a month My husband kept getting calls from them and finally he relunctently answered they offered to do a free week trial, he went in and they shoved a bunch of paper work to him saying no to the free week that he could just do the 90 days refund garentee, he again told them he just wanted the week. They said sorry and escorted him out...Uh ok? We’ll just do the gym down the road for $20 vs $100 for the Alaska club with people who clearly don’t know how to treat prospective members.

Great facility. Friendly staff. Great place for the whole family to stay fit and have fun.
