Love it
I went here and was leaving when the gym was about to close. A lady with long brown hair and pink converse (I believe her name was Caitlynn) scanned some Gatorade for me even though I’m sure it was an inconvenience because it was about 10 minutes till they closed. I also noticed that she was very helpful and cheerful to everyone that was leaving! Left me feeling very good about the staff at the Alaska club! :)
Our family has been going for a year. It literally has everything you need. People are friendly as long as your nice as well. Most say it expensive. But if you break it down with everything they have it really isn't. Plus download the app to get points. Points get you free stuff of your choice.
Really nice gym! Cory goes here too.
Always a clean and friendly place to work out at! Good customer service
Just started going, staff is very friendly
It's a good gym, they have a fair amount of options to suit your exercise needs. The staff are quiet but friendly, although there are a few who will go out of their way to get to know you.
A well appointed gym, with swimming pool, child care, and a friendly staff. The usual difficult to break contract, as expected.
My favorite gym in Anchorage/Eagle River area! It's always clean and not too crowded and It has a wonderful friendly environment. It makes it more enjoyable to work out.
Now that they have replaced their treadmills and other cardio equipment they are much better however they still have many improvements to make, including some of their personnel.
I can't afford to go to the Alaska Club, but they had a drawing to win a birthday party or to win a month membership (2 separate drawings) at the Bear Paw festival. I entered for the party and they call and said I won the drawing!! So excited I told my special needs son & some friends. I called today and they asked when I wanted to pick up my 2-day pass????
Good place to work out, on the pricey side for gym membership though. Some equipment is new, some of it is dated, but they have just about everything there.
Alaska Club ER is clean & offers great workout areas for most people. The club has a lot of euipment & options, and is certainly convenient. However, I am disabled & have repeatedly requested a set of submersible stairs for the pool since my doctor recommended water exercise. (Being lowered into the pool like Moby Dick requires assistance both in & out - not cool!) Toe holds up the side of the pool are not an option for someone with a disability at all. I like the whirlpool but, being out in the common area, there are always kids (& hairy men
Ak club is a good place .I'm writing this review because all read about is how pricey it is if you want cheap go to planet fitness or body renew and you will get cheap and dirty.
The absolute worst experience in a gym. Rude, careless employees. Terrible, Rude, disrespectful management who don't care about their customers. Waste of money. $180 per month is outrageous! Dont get stuck in this situation, trust me. If the gym has a COMPLETE new staff, maybe! These people are prejudiced against fat people. Be careful.
Super helpful and friendly. Go talk to Bonnie she'll hook us up with whatever you need and answer any questions you may have along the way.
Wonderful Pool exercise class
Very friendly staff and very clean!
My wife and I joined the Alaska Club because it's near our home. We went back and forth on whether this was the right decision beforehand, but we finally decided to take the plunge in December. For a family membership, we ended up spending $149/month with an annual contract, which I still think is overpriced for what you get (minus 1 star for that). Of course, we ended up getting the plus membership for free for a trial period, and we will not be continuing that for a number of reasons. However, one of the main reasons I like this gym is because it has an indoor running track you can use. It also has a pool, with an indoor water park for the kids. I've had mixed experience with the friendliness of the staff (minus one star for that), but Alicia, who is usually there in the mornings, is always really friendly, and she had my name memorized the first week I was there. I would recommend this gym to friend, but only if they're not too pressed for cash. Otherwise, there are some more budget friendly options out there.
I mean it’s a work out place which is fine. The reason the cost is so high is because of the amenities. My wife is always complaining because the sauna is always broken. The hydro massage chair is always broke. To be charging me 150$ a month I expect things to be in working order. Where is all the money going? Certainly not in the equipment. Staff is nice and the machines are ok.
It seems like there is something always broken at this facility and nobody is doing anything to fix the problems. There is never a manager available and it seems like the janitors are always on their phones. Not to mention the ridiculous prices for a place that isn’t well maintained. Something needs to be changed. I wouldn’t recommend anybody to this place.
The membership staff was very friendly and professional, they gave me an in depth tour of the club and showed me what equipment I could use to hit my fitness goals. They didn’t pressure or hassle me into making a decision. My wife and I met with a fitness consultant and determined what needed to happen for us to hit our goals and get the most of our membership. Thank you Alaska Club for making your customers feel like club members before we even sign up!
Got the bums rush out the door after the birthday party. Threatened with mote charges if we didnt hurry out.
Happy with the recent upgrades.
Clean up around the free weights area is coming along, basketball court is a little slick here and there, but everything appears to be coming along quickly. After the earthquake, staff has had their hands full and they have really come together to help guests and continue to make it a worthwhile visit.
Perfect for us!! Track, weights , pool...etc. Great hours.... VERY clean and well maintained!! Love it!!
What an amazing place to offer everything they do Under One Roof in the customer service is impeccable
Be Careful! I inquired about a 90 day trial. Signed up and knew there were quotas I had to meet in order to avoid the $500 membership fee at the end. (go so many times and have a physical). When it came time to a physical NO ONE would give me an appt. They went out of their way to not get me in. I ended up calling the Anchorage club and a wonderful man did my physical - he said how shady ER club is and how often this happens. Pure Disappointment. I just wanted to see what a gym was like as I've never gone. I can't believe the annoyance, frustration and just how awful my experience was in Eagle River and I will never go back.
Friendly staff and clean facilities! I love the indoor track and the overall layout of the place. They have a wide variety of equipment for custom workouts and a ton of different machines. Definitely would recommend.
The membership fees for the Alaska Club are a little pricey but you really do get a lot for your money. If you know you will attend classes, swim, or do your own work out at least 5 times a month it is very much worth the money. My kids especially love the play area. Which is helpful when I am trying to get in a quick workout.
Cecil was great and helped us out with a limited-time membership while we were doing volunteer work in the area. Awesome club--clean, with a nice variety of equipment and activities. Great staff too--perfect for families!
Very good to have in ER
Not a good value for the money body renew is a much better deal
The Alaska Club is a great place to come to the gym. It has a very friendly atmosphere. There are many treadmills, and a weight room as well. There is a track, upstairs, and a pool for kids. There is a kid zone, if you need to drop your kid off. There is a racquetball room, basketball room, and zoomba classroom. There is also a little bitty kid drop off zone for toddlers. This place does require a MEMBERSHIP. The membership is definitely worth it though.
read contracts thoroughly or you will get finessed because the employees do not always tell you exactly what you are signing up for.
Yeeeeeeeet
This is a very well equipped gym with everything you could possibly want. Excited to start exercising I wanted to join for a short period to try it out before making a big commitment since I'm low on money due to being in college. That was almost a year ago and I am still being billed every month and today got a bill for over $200. Don't be fooled by a charming smile, these crooks do not end your contract on the date you sign for. They hand you a stack of papers where somewhere in the fine print it says they extend you monthly until you cancel it yourself. They make the cancelation process very difficult and it has taken me a couple weeks (I am still not out yet). Some family members had the same problem and they were thrown around for a couple of months. Many people have had this same problem. Do not join unless you enjoy being taken for granted and screwed over.
Absolutely a wonderful facility. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. The entire property is well maintained. The parking lot was clean. The inside was well taken care of. The vast amount of equipment available is impressive.
I used a mailer to go in and try a class and really fell in love with the place. It was one of the friendliest and most professional staff--that's a hard combination to come by these days. Staff were not snoody or aloof at all. Cecil helped show me around and get me all the information I needed about what I was looking for, and the part I loved the most--I was not pressured to be sold anything. I look forward to all the classes I now have access to!
As a visitor from out of town, Cecil welcomed me to The Alaska Club with several complimentary day passes. The kids' play area is a fun place, with an ever-watchful childcare staff. A+ for taking such great care of my grandchildren. The ladies' locker room is clean and an oasis before and after working out. I have found the staff from the front desk to the cleaning staff to go the extra mile to make my visits a pleasure. Thanks a bunch, Alaska Club!
The facilities are fantastic and the staff is helpful and accommodating.
Beautiful new facility
I so bad wanted things to change here but it looks like I’ll be canceling once my contract is up! During the day you got rude people and the staff see it and do nothing and if you come in at 5am you will constantly see there are towels everywhere on the floor and on the gym equipment from the day before, there’s also no clean towels available for you to use, dirty equipment, and gym attachments all over the floor. The weights are always all over the place being left on the other side of the gym floor. The only nice thing about this place is when you walk in and they greet you. It’s very sad every time I go there and I’ve been going for months now! I thought the cost would be worth it but it’s far from worth anything.. Planet Fitness here I come!
Great, clean gym! Friendly staff. Always greeted with a "Good Morning", and walk out with a "Have a great day" =)
Member staffs are helpful. Facility is probably the cleanest AkClub within Anchorage bowl. Pool, kids center, locker rooms, fitness area, lobby, are clean.
WOW! Cecil Lambert at the AK Club Eagle River was incredibly helpful when our son came home from Norway for a visit! Cecil managed to make it so we could work out together as a family! Thank you so much! All the staff are friendly and helpful at our Club!
It's a good place to workout, but it has a to shallow of a pool.
One month after joining I received a very serious health diagnosis, and am no longer employed, and without insurance and paying 6 different Dr.'s bills. I stayed on my payments for 5 months but can no longer physically or financially attend. They will NOT work with me and want their money come hell or high water! I loved this gym but how you treat people with sudden disabilities and unforeseen financial hardship proves they are just another money hungry machine. I should have listened to my friends!
Its great if your white, but I recommend you stay away from the pool if your a person of color!
The design, equipment, professional knowledgable staff are all top shelf! Membership fee is higher $$ than other clubs but extras are worth it. Pool, steam, sauna. Club is focuses on fitness yet supports the needs for young growing families. Great location
Love to workout here, great employees and great equipment
I was in town for a couple weeks and was eating the 15$ day passes. The front desk recognized me and took it upon themselves to hook me up with a week pass for a great price. After the pass expired I went back to see if the membership manager, Cecil, could do anything for me. This time he gave me an even better deal. Great people, great gym! 5 stars
Love, love, love. The splash park and pool are a nice addition to an already great location. This Alaska Club location is one of the best as a fun place for the kids and is right next to the library.
It's nice.
