Finally made it to Newcastle. 3.5 stars in my opinion. The golf course was in immaculate shape. The greens were perfect and really tough (you'd better practice putting before playing here), the fairways were great and the rough was thick but fair. However for $100 at twilight, I'd expect GPS on the carts, or at the very least, a map on the scorecard. If it's your first time playing, be prepared to have no idea what youre firing at for half the day. Seriously, it's 2019. How on earth do you not have GPS on the carts?? The food at the upstairs restaurant was beyond terrible. The sliders (for $18) were small and tasteless and the wings (for $16!!!!!) were bland and some of the worst I've ever had. So, that's why I say 3.5 stars. You are absolutely paying for the views, which by the way, are stunning.
The course was in great shape and the weather was amazing! The only reason why it's not 5 stars is due to the obviously weathered driving range and the condition of the range balls. Pace of play was relatively quick even though my twosome was stacked behind groups of 4 all day. I was able to drop a few balls on the greens and have fun with some of the crazy putts on the undulating greens!
Pro: views are excellent; fairways in very good shape; greens played well despite being aerated earlier in the week. Con: website FAQ about redeeming rounds with players' cards is incomplete/misleading; driving range looks awful; one cart was shabby (cigarette burn holes in seats), one cart's battery died on hole #2; phone box at hole #9 (Coal Creek) to order food at the turn was broken and had a hornet inside it; no comfort stations on the back nine; the outdoor bar/cigar stand was closed at 3:45pm; the cocktails and the service in the bar are pretty mediocre. All in all: the play is great but the course is far over-priced and does not appear to be well cared for.
Enthusiastic reception and prompt, courteous service. Quiet, and family oriented. Prices were lower than expected for the surroundings. Food was average American fare, good but not unique. Beautiful view of golf course and territory, when there's no fog or rain.
Always a nice experience here. The views are amazing! The food is very good, along with the service. Each night at dusk they have a bagpiper walk back and forth in front of the windows playing his pipes until the sun goes down. It just gives me goosebumps every time!
I was there for a corporate event and not playing golf but I have to say the best thing about his golf club on a sunny day is the Magnificent view across Seattle and the lakes and the sound. The golf course also looked magnificent and very well kept
Amazing menu and service. The view on a clear sunny day is the best.
Too good to be good
Great place for team building. Awesome views. Food was really good
Absolutely incredible. Even if you sont golf, just go up there for the views. Breathtaking
Beautiful place to golf, have an event, or just enjoy the view.
Incredible view!
Beautiful views. Golf course is very well maintained.

Over rated. A total joke for the cost. Maintenance crew still out running mowers at 1:00 in the afternoon. I don't think we played more than a hole or two without either a mower or tractor or just parked in the middle of the fairway. Slow play. Backed up two groups on every tee box and the Marshall driving by without saying anything. I golf a minimum of once a week and honestly don't know how a regular golfer could or would give even an average rating. I could say the same for all the Oki courses but for this which is their crown jewel, it was a complete disappointment. We didn't even finish our round we were so frustrated.
The Coal Creek course at The Golf Club at Newcastle is one of the top-rated and finest championship layouts in Washington. This excellent tree-lined and open parkland course contains a wealth of wonderfully crafted, memorable and challenging holes. Definitely a course that will challenge your all-round game, and well worth going out of your way to play.
Beautiful atmosphere, good food but for the price it’s not brilliant. The menu is a little small. But the staff is always super kind and you really can’t beat the view.
Good drinks, great views and fun putt put
Went to the restaurant here for brunch a couple of times. Great place to sit down and have the view of the city during a clear day.
Beautiful and friendly atmosphere!

Best views on the Eastside but the quality of the food dies not justify the prices charged.
Do not buy oki card. Waste of money. All of their courses are in aweful condition especially the greens. Ball will jump around atleast 5times on 10foot putt. God... what a waste of 400 dollars. And do not give them ur card number to get tee time over the phone. Somebody will use it in San Francisco Uber and Uber eats. Just give them wrong number. It will work.
Great views of bellevue and lake washington. Unique place to play in the state.
What can you say. Always amazing.
Great place for golf.
Pro: views are excellent; fairways in very good shape; greens played well despite being aerated earlier in the week. Con: website FAQ about redeeming rounds with players' cards is incomplete/misleading; driving range looks awful; one cart …
Everything was great! Including the weather. The entire staff was very nice! Customer service will win me over before anything else! Food, drinks, people, the clubhouse. Everything was top notch!
Wonderful golf course in Seattle!!!:) I played 8:50 in 9.24.2018. Fairway was wet but greens so fast and solid. Quite chilly today but everything was charming and perfect. Wanna play again.
A bit rough for the price, like most Oki golf courses.
Just wish I'd had time to play some golf! Great venue and great views for any event!
The website describes this as "Eastside's best happy hour Monday - Friday from 4:00pm-6:00pm for both food and drink" and it certainly is NOT. No as in zero happy hour menu, I ordered the "The Pub's signature drink" the renowned 'Queen Mary' – described on their website as "a 23oz mixologist's marvel, combining our secret Bloody Mary mix with a pickle, asparagus, blue cheese stuffed olive, and cocktail onion. Served with a 4 oz draft beer chaser of your choice, our Queen Mary will dazzle you with her charm, seduce you with her heat, and satisfy you with her abundance". It came in a 16 oz glass, with NONE of the garnishes described and no beer chaser, not to mention it was the worst bloody mary I have ever had. I used to love this place, not sure I'll ever be back, so disappointing.
Scenic views (same views throughout the Coal Creek course) but very boring golf course design.
Awesome
I went to have the enjoyable and relaxing dining experience at Calcutta Grille. Two thumbs up!
Great, as always.
Amazing views, but quite difficult.
Great view, better staff, awesome course, all around it’s the epitome of excellence and sophistication all in one. This is a place filled with winners, filled with great people and top notch golf! Man, this place is great when the weather is nice. Howard G.
Beautiful course and facilities. Koll was a pleasure to talk to and very friendly!
Great view! Driving range is a lot of fun. The staff outside of the restaurant is nice. I would avoid the restaurant entirely.
Challenging but fun course. Entire course is in great shape. The greens are firm and the views are epic. Very good twilight rates.
A golfing paradise
Good course. A little confusing to get around. Staff is nice. AMAZING VIEWS!!!
Best views and great golf course.
The east range is as good as it gets!
I'm a wedding photographer and have shot two weddings here. Beautiful ceremony location! I definitely recommend this venue to anyone getting married!
Did my first wedding of the season here this past weekend. The staff is absolutely phenomenal at catering to every need that everybody had. They were very attentive to the vendors as well. Very well staffed which is also a great plus for weddings. Hands-down there isn’t a more beautiful venue that has such amazing views. Loading in to set up equipment was super easy and the staff was very helpful any question or request that I had. Forward to many more weddings at this venue.
Great wedding venue! Cannot beat the view. Really love working here at a vendor. The staff is really friendly and fun to work with.
Nice golf course n reallly good restaurant
Fantastic views of Seattle with sunset, excellent food, very elegant atmosphere.
Spectacular views. Excellent bagpiper adds to the ambiance.
Great views, great golfing, great venue - very pricey, but worth it in most cases
Beautiful views....Very tight golf course!!
The Coal Creek course was in good condition. The greens are firm and speeds are good. The accessories/amenities/concessions are pricey, but that is to be expected from NewCastle. Overall good experience. Looked forward to playing again.
Beautiful settings and a challenging track. Banquet facilities also superb.
Great food options plus a fantastic view makes this a special place to play and dine.
Golf is always great and horrible depending on the day and how many swings you take. But this place atleast has a view that is well above par. Pun intended. Thank you for clean air and beautiful views. Ohh and Golf too.
Nice course with helpful and friendly staff
Just shoot one awesome pic from the parking lot
Wonderful Golf place. Best in Washington State
Did my first wedding of the season here this past weekend. The staff is absolutely phenomenal at catering to every need that everybody had. They were very attentive to the vendors as well. Very well staffed which is also a great plus for …
Absolutely perfect location to get married, the tent spaciously held our large group of >200 during the ceremony, plus soft seating of 5 couches, 3 side tables, and about 6 large round tables for people to sit at during the reception plus a 24x24' dance floor. All of our guests were blown away with the beautiful sunset view of downtown Seattle, plus the bagpiper. Everyone raved about how delicious the stuff chicken tasted and how perfectly cooked the salmon was. Alicia McDonald who is the event coordinator was so helpful throughout the process and made sure we had everything we needed days prior to, as well as the day of the wedding. I couldn't be more happy with my experience there and would recommend this venue to anyone!
Food and service are top notch! I even brought my service dog inside while we had lunch. The views of the Puget Sound and homes on the hillside were amazing...you don't have to be a member so treat yourself to a divine lunch or dinner here!
Love here. the best place to see seattle and bellevue
Great place. We were there for a work party. Sunset was beautiful.
Great wedding venue! Cannot beat the view. Really love working here at a vendor. The staff is really friendly and fun to work with.
I had lunch at the clubhouse. The view from the top of the mountain is great. Food is OK too.
Great course and views but overpriced for non members.
Stunning views of the Puget Sound
Phenomenal views.
I was here to check out the beautiful sunset. I've also done the putting course, which is lovely. Kid friendly too.
One of the best golf courses in Washington Better than the Dungeness course in Sequim
Great driving range nice Pro Shop beautiful Clubhouse views from the golf course to die for the course is tough bring your A game
Such a beautiful place!!
Beautiful place to come and relax. If you love to golf I'm sure it's a great course. And what a view.
Great, challenging courses that remind me how much I suck at golf. Best to play these with an Oki Golf package/card. Best practice facility in the area.
Beautiful semi-private course, nice practice facilities, challenging for beginners. 3 stars due to unfriendly staff and limited food selection at the club house.
Just a gorgeous course!
Amazing views
What an incredible view. I did not know there was a spot where so much of the Puget Sound region could be seen at once. Sunset was fantastic. Love the bag pipes being played at dusk, too. I need to get a round of golf in there for sure.
The view is incredible. The bar has a warm, pub feeling. The restaurant has amazing food and service. And, if attending for an event, the food is excellent, as are the accommodations. Plenty of parking. The views are incredible.
How could I not love this place. I can stay there and watch that spectacular view of beautiful puget sound all my lifetime!
Great golf with fantastic views! Not sure of the value as this was a tournament to which I was invited. Great playing course with challenging sections.
Excellent food, service @ magnificent panoramic & breathtaking views of Seattle!
Incredible scenery and views of the Seattle surrounding suburbs. Golf course design is challenging and every hole has a distinctive personality.
Great food, location and service, even with the rain!
The views here are worth the short trip up the hill to come here for dinner, happy hour or even breakfast. Patio seating enhances, weather permitting. I brought a client here to their putt putt course and it was a blast as they didnt golf. The full course is also a must if you golf. Try the house caesar or fish & chips!
Need more servers. 15 min. To get our drinks
Stunning golf course built down the side od the hills with breathtaking views of Seattle, Bellevue, Puget Sound and Lake Washington. The restaurant is wonderful, and the sunsets can't be beat anywhere else in the Northwest! Enjoy drinks and dinner watching the sunset and listen to the nightly serenade to the sunset by a bagpiper.. It's an experience you will crave again and again! The view is amazing and the food is outstanding!
Great view, good food, attentive staff. 5-star experience.
Really is a great place & the views unbelievable, the sunset amazing indeed
Coal Creek was a beautiful course with gorgeous views. Well maintained. Customer service from pro shop employees and tee box starters was outstanding.
Absolutely the best sunset spot. With a spectacular view on Olympic park. If you get there a bit earlier you could listen to the windpipes.
Beautiful site seen
Had to leave off a star, because for the price of a round of golf at this place there is no excuse for not having GPS on the carts. Beautiful courses that are well kept, but need to add technology.
Great view and decent food. However, I did expect better service for a club.
I have such mixed feelings about Newcastle. The restaurant and the driving range are superb. Well, the range is and the views from the restaurant make up for any lack in taste or service, but every time I eat there, I'm always satisfied on both levels. However, the golf course has literally been let go. The greens are atrocious. I don't know if they ever work on them, but they feel and play like 8 million people have come through without any conditioning. Perhaps that's just what happens after it was taken over by the Chinese co? I hope they don't let the rest of the place go. It would be a shame given its location and views.
Nickel and dime you every step of the way. Avoid for any events.
Great course but pricey. Some of the best views of the surrounding area with A+ golf course
Very well maintained
Amazing facility and location ... great for offsite events
Great views if there's clear weather
The driving range has gone so far downhill in the last year or two. Management needs to enforce basic golf etiquette. People bring their families along with lots of small children and allow the children to run around. The children are very loud as is the non-stop talking amongst and between families. People finish their bucket and then go sit on the bench, talking loudly, socializing, and leave their equipment so that no one else can get into the stall. Basic rules of golf and driving range etiquette need to be posted and enforced. I used to come here regularly but avoid it now. I have spoken to a number of other people who have expressed, unprompted, the same feelings about what has happened at Newcastle. I know people who have purchased year long driving range packages who are not planning on renewing based on what's happening. Sad to see what was a well-managed facility go so far downhill.
For as Much as you pay, the course has patchy fairways and the bunkers need more and better sand
Beautiful traditional meets pacific northwest decor, friendly staff, and the lunch we had at the restaurant on a Saturday was fantastic. I ordered the (some fancy name) burger, which had local cheddar, Gouda, bacon... sun-dried tomato spread? Can't exactly remember, but it was decadent and heavenly, even on a lettuce wrap instead of the bun! The pickled Brussels sprouts side/garnish had an interesting spice combination (think winter savories), and was a nice departure from the usual coleslaw. My dad's wild mushroom omelet was so simple, with local cheese inside, and a pile of un-messed-around with wild mushrooms on top. Real food, prepared well. I'll definitely ask to go again next time I visit! *After reading other reviews I remembered the name of the burger was the Calcutta burger, which I really should have remembered since my Indian husband and I had a good chuckle about the fact that eating beef at all is, in fact, currently against the law in Calcutta, haha.
Beautiful
Greens had some type of ridges on them. A bit bumpy. Also traps are in need of sand. One actually had some type of lining showing through. They were like hard pan. Power cart battery went dead after about 16 holes. For the premium price required to play, the quality is not the same as in the past.
Beautiful ❤️
Love the view, love to hit balls at the range.
Fabulous view. Food disappointing. Wait staff ehh!
Amazing place. Excellent view point.
Brunch on the patio. Great service and view.
I came here for a event for work. The property is absolutely beautiful. I don't golf, but I almost wanted to learn, just to be able to walk the grounds. The views are gorgeous, I could spend all day just being on the course.
Beautiful course.
his would be a great place to go for everything from a romantic evening to a special occasion. But, it isn’t just for special occasions, it would be great for any time you would like to feel special and enjoy a great meal
Golf or Brunch, doesn't matter what u do you'll have a great time with the beat views
Beautiful country club perched atop Cougar Mountain, the Newcastle Country club is a picturesque location that has beautifully curated land, great amenities, and breath-taking views of Bellevue and Seattle on clear days. It is a lovely place to be.
Really nice view. Didn't golf though.
I'd like it a lot better if I wasn't such a crappy golfer
So beautiful - the view is amazing. We love stopping in for a drink and quick bite (the burger please!) in the Pub - bartender Chris is awesome. Try the Calcutta Grill for more formal dining - the service is good and consistently decent food, a tad overpriced and I wish there was more diversity on the menu. Brunch food is tasty and while it is usually packed in the Grill you can get lucky and grab a seat at the Pub. Looking forward to golfing here one day soon.
Visit here during summer! Great food and view!
Beautiful place ...nicely done and service was wonderful...
As you could expect the resort has exceptional vista's.
Beautiful course. Challenging
Went to eat at the restaurant. Great food, great views. What more do you want?
Excellent food and service. Went for a work dinner and had a great time. Absolutely beautiful view. Did have an issue with the calamari and hair but they took care of it quickly giving us a new order and removing it from our bill.
Putt-Putt golf is a really nice group activity here even for non-golfers. Nice place to come out and play golf with a bunch of friends.
Beautiful views, great course, tough with a lot if elevation changes and unique holes. There are two 18 hole layouts. I played coal Creek, the other is China creek
Great round on Coal Creek. Course was in great shape.
In my opinion this is the nicest course in Washington, helps that it's 5 min from where I live but the course, plus the views and the food, 5☆ Thank you
The course is 'nice' provided a buggy but had to remain on the cart path. $145 each seems a little expensive for wet September golf. Maybe try elsewhere before booking here.
Beautiful view!
Location, location, location! Went to the restaurant for brunch. It was delicious and reasonably priced. Took a walk around the putt putt course and took In their incredible views. The people were so nice. Green fees were a bit pricey, but depends on when you golf. A great experience.
Beautiful course! The greens were slower than I figured they would be and the round was very pricey. I did not feel like I was playing a 200+ round. We also had two drinks on the course from the cart girls for 40.00 (ouch). I don’t mind paying for a great round, it just did not live up to my expectation based on price. I did enjoy the views and the clubhouse, I think these were the highlights of my round. The elevated T’s were especially nice. Take a friend or family member, enjoy!
Stunning views all around, the sunset over the Seattle skyline was unreal. Awesome wedding venue with good staff. Worth noting, there are two ceremony spots, with the patio being far superior to the tent. Highly recommend this place as a venue.
This was gorgeously breathtaking views over the area. Definitely plan dinner before sunset too. There was a bagpiper that plays at sunset on the patio. The food was melt in your mouth amazing. My prime rib you could cut with a fork. Best I've ever had. I also had the French onion soup and finished it off with fresh and tangy lemon dessert. So good!
Wonderful food. Superb views. Can't speak to the golfing but the clubhouse is great!
Awesome view of Seattle downtown, Bellevue Downtown and Mercer Island.
Unbelievable views, beautiful grounds. You must play here. Staff is A+!
Attended a catered lunch. The location is spectacular. The service was spectacularly awful.
Fantastic courses, amazing views. Pace of play was good and a challenging course.
Beautiful place!
As a city boy, this place is jus amazing. Don't know a thing about grass or golf, or golf clubs. So it gets my 5 star rating because it's just so beautiful.
Went for Easter brunch amazing the food was fantastic lots for kids there was the Easter bunny balloons petting zoo bunny's pigs a turkey and of course Easter egg hunt
Course was in great shape for November. Enjoyed my round
This course is really nice, with two 18 hole courses, a great practice facility, a great restaurant, and more! The golf club is top class, and it is still a public golf course! The maintenance is good, and the courses are beautiful! A great course for conventions or things like that! A great place!
Beautiful place to walk around, scenic view all around
Nice courses, but not worth what they charge. A friend put it well (for Coal Creek), it's an $80 course with a $100 view. Coal Creek is their top end course and when I've played it there was always work needed. For instance, the tee boxes were trashed. Oki doesn't care about slow play, and you can see the service level diminish over the years. If you want to call yourself a premium facility the make it like a premium facility. Go down to see Salish Cliffs to see a quality course (with great service and staff)! New edit- Back for another round. This time the cart began to die on hole 14. Took 4 calls to the pro shop before anyone answered (there press 0 for immediate assistance went to voice mail). Of course, no one did a thing about it.
The views at this place are great.
Great food and a view that would make even mediocre food worth the visit.
I didn't actually play any golf, I was just at the golf club for our annual holiday party. The service and for we're both fantastic and the venue itself was great. The view was pretty good, even though it was night and raining, and I've heard it is great on a nice day.
Has really gone downhill. No pun intended. For upwards of $200 a person for Coal Creek, this course is a letdown. Greens are in awful conditions. Went twice in two weeks with clients and three carts died on the course. Too bad, because Newcastle sports some of Seattle's finest golf vistas.
Been coming here for 15 years and never have consistancy. Overpriced mediocre food with "OK" service. 3.5*
Location, location, location! Went to the restaurant for brunch. It was delicious and reasonably priced. Took a walk around the putt putt course and took In their incredible views. The people were so nice. Green fees were a bit pricey, but depends on when you golf. A great experience.
What a beautiful place the view is amazing. I don't golf so cannot comment on the course but what I saw it looked nice but we went for lunch.
Fun course!
Good challenging course with nice greens and fairways.
Beautiful course! The greens were slower than I figured they would be and the round was very pricey. I did not feel like I was playing a 200+ round. We also had two drinks on the course from the cart girls for 40.00 (ouch). I don’t mind …
This place is amazing on clear days. And the food and service at the grill are superb.
Avg. food. Can not beat the view from here. Seattle, Bellevue and Olympic Mountains! Best sunset!
Nice place to host corporate meeting, and good place to socialize. Golf facility is good and nicely maintained. Place has just awesome view, and quite relaxing.
Stunning views all around, the sunset over the Seattle skyline was unreal. Awesome wedding venue with good staff. Worth noting, there are two ceremony spots, with the patio being far superior to the tent. Highly recommend this place as a venue.
Beautiful course that really puts you in places where you need to know your club and know your shot
Beautiful view! The setting and staff make this golf course one of a kind. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet course with a wonderful backdrop!
Great course. Many elevation changes and blind fairways. Fun but tough course. Fantastic views. Beautiful clubhouse.
Beautiful ,gorgeous but expensive.
Great courses and magnificent location
The most amazing place , the best service and awesomest views I have ever seen
No membership required, great for large parties. Food was very good and not crazy-expensive. Service was efficient and friendly, especially for our large party with multiple children. Would absolutely recommend! Oh, and incredible views!
Visited Seattle to see friends and family and ventured to Newcastle golf course for their Rusty Putter 18 hole pitting course and lunch. The views are breathtaking and we had the course to ourselves. Lunch was fabulous, great service, food and ambiance. Will definitely visits again.
An amazing golf course with an amazing view!!! Had a wonderful time and the landscape was amazing!!
Beautiful views
Nice place, beautiful panorama,
High end location. Amazing views from the course looking down on the city and surrounding area. Bathrooms strategically placed around the course. Way too many par 5’s for my liking, but that’s just me. My round was paid for by my boss, god knows it was too expensive for my taste.
