One of my favorite places to play a round of golf in Virginia Beach. Green fees are reasonably priced ($35/person for a 9am Saturday round) and the fairway and green conditions are decent given the price point. Course is on the shorter side at around 6300 yards from the white tees but the silver lining is that the pace of play is slightly over the four hour mark. Definitely worth checking out if you want to get some golfing in during a long weekend in Virginia Beach.

The fairways suck. They cut them to the dirt all year. I have told the owner wants more roll on his drives. I would rather hit off grass than get more roll. I wont play there until he gives up golf. STOP cutting the grass , wow really. What a great layout to be ruined by management. I played recently and I changed my review to 2 stars. They seem to let the grass grow a bit, but it still has a good ways to go.

The course is nice. The greens are in horrible shape, but they roll pretty true. There is less break than you read. The tee boxes are very difficult to get a tee on the ground.

Drove all the way from morehead city nc to play stumpy lake golf course and it was worth every mile of driving to get there! Fairways excellent, greens were exceptional, ruff just right..I have already made plans to return to stumpy lake golf course..pro shop staff was friendly and professional..I play a lot of courses between NC&VA and by far top shelf!

Kind of pricey for the condition the course is in, employee told me this summer has been especially harsh on their greens and it shows; no way to predict how putts and chips will roll from one green to the next. Most bunkers were gravel quarries. Scenic location, great finishing hole, but definitely bring bug spray as there are a lot of mosquitoes here. I look forward to playing it again when there's not so much ground under repair but for the price you could do a lot better.

course is in rough shape right now. the fairway grasses are very thin making even the most well placed shot a poor lie, the bunkers are hard as concrete, the greens are in pretty good condition but since they sanded them recently they are extremely slow. staff is nice though and it is a fun course. worth the money if they would fix the bunkers.

A very nice public course. It stays a little wetter than some. The staff if friendly and so is the course. Rates are good. Scenery is stellar. Ni houses on the course. Wide open. It has a classi Feel. Nice layout. Bottomline a fin course for the average player.

The absolute crappiest golf course I've ever played on in my 25 years playing...they charged me $90 For me and my 14 year old son, didn't tell us the just aerated the greens....the sand traps are raked mud !

Rain early morning. Very wet the entire course. Yes this was swampy lakes as all know after rain. Too handicap the course after nine holes we enacted a rule of tee it up where the ball lies. This made the second nine very compatible and fun. Yes the course layout is still challenging.

Played here last year and really loved the course and the condition. I played here again today and could not have been more disappointed. I paid $45 dollars to play 18 and the course was in TERRIBLE condition. The greens had more sand than the bunkers, half the tee boxes had no grass, the fairways were half puddles and mudpits, and we got stuck in mud on hole 1 and almost got stuck on an additional 5 more holes. If the staff would have told us how poor conditions the course was in, I would have never spent $45 on this mess. I really felt like I was on a beach when I made it to the greens. My putter would be caked with sand and when I walked sand would make it's way into my shoes. If the staff would have been honest about condition, I would have been more understanding. Feels like they care more about getting your money than being honest with their customers.

Nice Course, good greens and very friendly staff, however the pace of play was so slow we had to walk off the 13th after 4 and half hours. They seem to just get people out. No course ranger. Has put me off going back

Nice quite course but the bugs can get horrible. Not much you can do about considering the location. I'm not the best golfer so it'a nice to not have to worry about houses.

Hidden gem in the heart of Virginia. Romantic area for picnics, family outings, trails, etc... there is tons of active wild life, mainly birds, fish, and turtles. There are tons of potential for volunteers of all ages. The park is amazingly peaceful. The golf course is simply beautiful! The staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. A MUST SEE DESTINATION!

Great place for kayaking, they have a kayak ramp for easier access and people with disabilities. Went fishing and no fish. I will be back.

Mosquitoes were terrible, they should offer big spray or at least warn you. Do not go here without bug spray in the summer. Lots of stagnant water areas.

Used to play here 2-3 days a week...went there with relatives from out of town.. Paid my fees...then my uncle came 15 min later at asked for any discounts...they gave him senior rate...I then asked for senior rate and was told I had to ask for it when I paid... Pretty sad....first time back there in years...probably won't go back with the attitude of the front desk...

Not a terrible course and I will say it's the first time I've played it but will probably never go back. I'd give it a 3 if it was 30 dollars instead of 45. The only reason I have it 2 stars was because the employees that work there are amazing! Coolest guys I've ever talked to on a golf course. The course was.in pretty bad shape though. It has rained a lot lately and that might have something to do with it. Tee boxes where in terrible shape, fair ways might as well of been like playing in the rough, and the greens were the worst though. Very inconsistent. If the course was better taken care of it would be at rest place to play. 45 dollars is to much for this course. If I'm going pay 45 here I might well pay 15 more dollars to play the river front.

Ok, given the amount of rain in the area over the past few weeks I get it. We didnt have a horrible winter so the grass should come in nice this spring. First off, $28 is a complete rip off, the greens were like the beach (recently aerated) no one stated that nor is there a sign in the club house or on website, the fairways lack grass (lots of bare spots and mud/dirt) and alot of the low lying areas are/were under repair with pellet dirt mounds fill in. C'mon now, where is managment and do they even care to let customers know anything and why aren't they fixing this course up?? Spread some grass seed, let your paying customers know the greens are full of sand and lower the price $$$ until this place gets in better shape. Unsatisfactory Stumpy Lake !!! The course is in horrible condition and will take months to get up to par. I usually like this course but over the last two years I give it a -2 rating due to the lack of maintaining and upgrading the bad areas of this golf course.

I walked 18 at stumpy lake today. Older course (I think) behind a local nature park. You feel away from the hustle and bustle. Course was in great shape, looks great but it is late in the season. Forgiving layout that is simple and playable for any golfer. Experienced golfers may feel a little "bored". Scenic and quaint. Optimal course to ruin a nice walk at.

I moved to VB from Suffolk and have only played out here twice now. Most of the tee boxes are dirt with small grass patches sparsely spread across the area. Other than that, the fairways are nice, greens are fast and well maintained(both times I've played there, at least) and staff is friendly. I enjoy playing here and will continue to keep coming back.

Course was in good condition. A few spots areas need a little TLC (mostly a few tee boxes on the back 9), but the course is in nice shape. Staff is really nice, which is a nice change from many of the courses in the area. $25 all you can play after 2:00pm on weekdays now, so that's a plus. Will be back soon.
