Great goat pictures. Seriously, It's a golf course not a farm. Geez! Dog track
Interesting course and a bit challenging. Set amongst lakes, trees and pleasant scenery. Stay in the fairways!
Nice course, good shape like what they are doing to improve the course.
just bad. we will start from the beginning. tee boxes: mostly patchy grass with some sand thrown in some spots. 2 out of 10 fairways: very good easily the best part of the course however they are soaked like 90% of the year. (probably save a ton one watering the course) 7 out of 10* after a week of no rain bunkers: just garbage. hard as a rock. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. 1 out of 10 greens: there are two good greens on this entire course the rest are terrible. huge patches with no grass and where there is grass they are cover with holes from who knows how long ago. 2 out of 10 course layout: awesome it's such a fun course I remember always having fun here in recent years but the conditions make it so layout means nothing. 7 out of 10 carts: they are clean new and fast, all of the seats are in perfect condition and they all have rain guards for your clubs . 10 out of 10. overall: just horrible. stay away. you do not want to play this course unless you have no other options. which you do. just go somewhere else. you won't regret it. 2 out of 10 this course shouldn't even be open in it's condition today the cart paths were flooded. please think about closing this place for repairs. sorry but it's the truth
Narrow and tight, this course will frustrate and delight.
I went with 5 friends. They were able to set up a tee time for us with ease. The course was beautiful. They keep the place up perfectly! We only had time for 9 holes but the front 9 was fantastic. They have a worker named "Frankie" who is awesome. He actually checked on us to make sure we were okay and having fun too! I can not say enough how much fun we had! I will definitely be back anytime im in Virginia beach!
Course has been better.
Only thing keeping this from 5 stars were the greens. Wish I could do 4.5 because it's a beautiful course and the staff is outstanding.
Great place to golf we love here .
Nice course and friendly staff.
Course was in great shape even for late season. Staff is friendly & helpful.
Excellent course. Lots of water after the rain the previous night, greens ran pretty fast. Nice and challenging. And the goats!!!
Course was fair and decent from a maintenance standpoint. A few holes were fun and challenging. Pro shop staff was friendly and polite. The golf cart staff at (pick up & return)were rude and unprofessional. Very disappointing. Won't be back!
Very fun course green were great the PGA pro there is the best and the locals treated us like members. Great value
The course was in pretty good shape. The staff was great and the hotdogs are awesome.
Terrible conditions. Flooded cart paths. No sand in bunkers. Greens were mind fields that have no consistent roll, being less than half grass to sand/dirt.
Hell's Point has been on the upswing for several years now, and Virginia Beach residents should be looking to come back and play. The maintenance staff has done an incredible job with the greens -- this is NOT the Hell's Point of 2010. With competitive pricing and a friendly staff, this is hands down the best value in Virginia Beach.
Great local course. Some tight drives due to being surrounded by lush vegetation and swamp. Can get wet as a result. 90 degree rule often in effect. Clubhouse is quaint. Cost is reasonable.
Course seems to be much improved compared to a lot of the earlier reviews. One of the few courses in the area that doesn't have a housing development built around it which makes for a peaceful round. A little improvement in the fairway and rough and this course will be ranked 5 stars as far as quality for what you pay
Great conditions, grounds crew has cleared the edges of some of the fairways reworked some of the bunkers, all around great shape
This course does not have a liquor license... Buyer beware.
Awesome course.
Great conditions for the greens and the course
Nice place. Friendly
A really fun course run by Nice guys.
When it's been dryer, the course isn't half bad. When it's been rainy at all (like within 10 days or so), the course can be quite swampy.
Still a course in Virginia Beach not littered with houses. Mid level pricing at the same as municipal course, but much better shape. Still does not seem to get a lot of play.
Hells Point is a course that rewards a well executed plan, and punishes mistakes. Most players may despise this course as they're used to wide open fairways and forgiving greens. If you slice your ball, it will land in the swamps of Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. What makes this course challenging is what also makes it exceptionally beautiful. In tune with nature as golf was intended. You will see goats, deer, osprey, rabbits, turtles, and more. The staff was professional and helpful. If your handicap is over 20, I wouldn't bring any expensive balls you love.
Go here all the time to drive balls with my friends. Very nice staff and cheap baskets a
Really nice course and a GREAT value. Lots of recent rain has slowed the greens a bit.
Played last weekend was impressed with the greens and conditions.
Golf Course wasn't that bad nice and dry cart staff needs a lot of work little rude
Tee's were kinda rough. Fairways were a little dry too so had to take into account bounce and roll. Price was right tho. Off season i think. Carts were new. Staff was awesome.
The course is in good shape. It appears they are working hard to get Hell's Point back to the way it was years ago.
Played today and will play again tomorrow and Friday before my vacation ends Saturday. Course is in great shape and the greens are perfect. I play at TPC Dearborn and Plum Hollow in Michigan; both private clubs and the grrens at Hell's Point are top notch. The ranger and starter staff is friendly and made me feel like I've been buddies with them for years. They brought the cart to me in the parking lot and even called my wife the "Boss" and made her laugh. I've never written a review before so this says a lot about Hell's Point in VA Beach. Looking forward to beating my 83 tomorrow now that I have an idea of the layout.
Sometimes is good and sometimes it's not. Still enjoy playing Hell's Point though.
Closest course to Sandbridge Beach and decent layout, but I'd drive a bit further down the the road and play Heron Ridge for the same price any day of the week.
Fun course and Great Staff..
A good test of golf, a few condition issues but overall a nice course. Best cart girl ever.
Really nicely kept greens, will definitely play here more often.
Only a 4 because it kick my butt! Lol
Course was In terrible condition . Had no breakfast Rental clubs were Terrible le as well . Sandy greens no warning on aerating the greens when I called just bad.
Nice challenging course, has drainage issues.
This is a great golf course, the price was extra low due to the off season and the greens were in excellent condition. I played right after a couple of days of rain and the course was still in great shape. A lot of fun and some really challenging holes. Staff was very friendly I will definitely go back.
Fun course and absolutely beautiful area
Greens are in terrible shape. Large dead patches of grass, tee boxes were uneven and dead, and upkeep was poor. The staff working the course were extremely rude. We tried playing twilight and they wanted to leave early and were forcing people off the course. Would not recommend. Plenty of better courses in the area. Spend your money elsewhere.
Four
Used to be a great tract. Not so much now
Very well keeped. And nice layout.
When I say this was the biggest POS of a golf course I have ever seen, I really mean it. Like another reviewer said, you need a 4x4 Wrangler to get the ball to the hole. 1/10 rating. Plus, it is $25 for 9 holes. Where I am from in Ohio, we have courses that are nationally ranked for that price. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
Fairways in good shape , cart paths in fair shape , staff was pleasant , worst greens I think I've ever played on .. hopefully that is just weather and/or storm related .. I did see good signs of maintenance involvement .... the goats are pretty cool
The staff get four stars very friendly and helpful Course conditions are rough Rolling Fairways of chickweed and crabgrass
Love playing golf here
Very nice and very challenging. Very good price and the staff was very welcoming.
One of my favorites.
They've come a long way since a few years ago. The course has become well manicured and they have new golf carts. The staff there are super friendly. Green fees are inexpensive. Definitely one of the better public courses in VB. However, if you are looking for a great course, you need to go to Williamsburg, VA.
I always confuse this place with Satan’s Hole Golf & Racquet Club.
Golf course is like Heaven
Great golf course and reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly.
Staff was friendly and courteous. Greens were good. Fairways were well groomed and just the right height. Just the right mix of hazards. Lots of water.
Like other posts it's pretty annoying they make you pay full price when several greens are in really rough shape. As an out of town player to have to pay $55 on a Monday seemed a bit high for the course. We tolerated it because it was so close to where we were staying. We would have looked for a better course elsewhere if not for the location. The track is decent enough and is a fun course to play, but with some suspect greens to cost seems to be higher than the quality.
Fun course...harder than it looks.
Greens were horrible, back 9 was closed an didn't mention it until I payed. Bring tons of bug spray
Good character, fun and fair course. A good value as well.
Fairways good. Greens not so much
Loved it! Great course! Challenging and fun! Stay on the fairway, it's easy to lose balls.
Nice course
Great food, tough course,
Update 9/8/18: I still stand by a 2 star review. The greens on this course are just atrocious. The tee box is in terrible shape. The fairways weren't too bad but you can tell little care is given to the course. DO NOT PLAY FOR LESS THAN $25. The layout and design are there but the conditions and maintenance need serious work for it to be a worthy golf course. It's too hard for high handicappers and the conditions are not nice enough to be considered a premium golf course.
Best Greens in town right now. The new super is doing a great job on the course, they are clearing lots of trees, and there are several areas where they are redoing drainage. Clubhouse could use a remodel but the course was really good. Very challenging layout and if you can't hit it straight you may need a few extra balls. Rates are good compared to other courses in the area, staff was friendly and the food was good, Abby in the snackbar took great care of us.
Friendy pro staff
Fairways were in good condition greens had mold on them. Still not a bad layout
Manicured greens, helpful and accommodating staff. Not the most challenging course but not for beginners either. Don't forget to ask for The Coach.
This course as a hidden gem
Swampy conditions, some holes closed.
I love the layout of this course. It's narrow with lots of hazards and requires more precision than distance. The course was really wet from the rain (standing water), and the tee boxes and fairways were really thin. They need work, for sure. However, the greens were receptive and true, but they were pretty slow.
We love this course!
Nice course , played it several times over the years . Some of the greens in not so great shape , certainly do not get a true roll.
Hadn't played this course in years but went out a week ago. Really enjoyed the day. Course was in good shape. Good place of play. I like the course layout. Really nice staff. Enjoyed the nature settings..saw a couple deer graze near the tee box we had just pulled away from. All in all a really nice day of golf. Wont be years before I return again this time around.
Course is in great shape! Greens are running nice and there were plenty of wild goats playing around. Fun course great layout and service.
Great course but holds water a bit more than the others. Definitely a fun place to play though!
Never been...just hear it an't what it use to be....
Played here on vacation. Nice course and friendly staff.
I was playing another course and the guy I played with mentioned this course, so I thought what the heck I will give it a shot. I called to see if I needed a tee time and the guy said come on out. I asked what the greens fees were and he said $35. The other courses I've played in the area were at least $50 and were just ok, so i really wasn't expecting much, boy was I wrong. The course is beautiful, very well landscaped and maintained. This will definitely be a spot I visit every year while in town. The starter/cart attendant was extremely nice and gave me a few helpful tips for the course. I highly recommend playing this course!
excellent golf course. Ive been playing around Hampton Roads but had not made my way out to the back bay. Man I was missing out. What a tough course and challenge. If you got game and want a nice challenge this is a place you need to play. Its narrow plush and reseptive.. You just have to hit them straight,, I will be back ..enjoyed
Nice dog legs. Well kept. And there were friendly goats! They heckled us as we teed off on 18.
Worst golf course in the area. Its sad to see a beautiful golf course turn into crap!! Front 9 greens are destroyed and they still make you pay full price. Got cheap, tacky bird houses everywhere. Stay way from here
Nice course, friendly staff...extremely competent. Will plat there the next visit.
Nice place to golf!
Nice course. A bit marshy but that's just the area. Other then that a great experience.
Great course
Excellent golf course; very well laid out and well maintained. The greens are little fast and they have a few drainage problems. the clubhouse was good and I would say overall not a bad course. I would suggest this course highly if you're visiting Virginia Beach area
Nice golf course with just enough challenge!
We had two tee times on 04/27/18. Pulled in the lot to grab lunch prior to the round and the place was packed, couldn't even find a parking spot. We got worried and decided to call the pro shop to see what was going on. Turns out they had a shotgun tournament that day, but had taken our tee time reservation anyway. The primary job of the pro shop is to take tee times and they couldn't even get that right. Very unprofessional.
It was a hell of a damn time!!!
Fun course. Outstanding customer service. We had a wedding party of 26 and they were very patient and very helpful
My favorite course!
The course is really looking a 100 times better than 2 months ago. Greens are a little slow but roll very well. The new superintendent is doing a great job to bring this course back to where it should be.
Very Cheap but the greens were crap at beat. Fairways were good.
Fantastic course with a great value. Check out Groupon, we got a deal for $20 each. I've played at courses with slightly nicer fairways/greens but Hell's Point is very close to those and much more affordable. Played in mid-November and the grass was still looking great. Looking forward to going back soon.
Early in the season so the greens were punched and the course was a bit wet but a fun track with great staff. Enjoy playing here when I am in the area
Great course in the back Bay area. Goes through a very quiet wooded area not many homes or roads. Does get a bit wet if it has rained does not drain well.
Great course, lots of water.
Hot, lots of wildlife, no beverage cart?
