So I only visited this spot for the weekly special on their burgers. On Wednesday’s they have buy one get one for burgers (comes with fries as well so it’s 7$ a plate). I ordered this with a coworker and it was pretty good and the fries were also very good. My only complaint was that the restaurant/bar side only had one worker and she was inundated with a party that was forming so we didn’t have the best service. But other than that, it’s a nice location and a great deal!

Great price! A lot of people out on Memorial Day - not much regulation on pace of play so was getting caught up behind a few groups waiting to play. Waited at the bar for drinks for about 10 minutes before tee time which put us a group behind and I think we were supposed to play with another group but was not informed. Stopped playing after 9th hole because was getting late with 5:15p tee time and likely would wait behind next group.

I loved this course. The fairways were well maintained, the greens fit my style of golf and they were all consistent. I've been in San Antonio for several months and have played six of the other courses and this one so far is my favorite. The only reason I didn't give it 5 starts were the bunkers. I only found one in my round but it was lacking sand and the rest were similar. Overall I enjoyed my round and will play there again, soon!

I actively play here, being about 5 min from my house its hard not to. Golf now hold good prices as the course is in good shape. At times you can loose your ball if you're around the rough area as the grass is pretty high. Outside of that the course is great. Food is even better. Friendly staff every time I've walked in the door.

I love the course and go there as often as I can despite living an hours drive away. Was very disappointed today. I checked their website yesterday evening to ensure there would be openings in the late morning or early afternoon and it appeared to be wide open. However when I got there, the fellow at the desk said it would be an hour and a half before I could start, despite there being no one on the range or putting green. I can only assume there was some sort of event going on that would not wrap up for another hour or so. Had I known that, I would not have made the drive. Not sure why their tee reservation system showed them wide open yesterday, but this experience makes it less likely I will pop out there in the future. Follow up: Had not played here in the last few months but went out yesterday and had an enjoyable round. The grass is mostly dormant, but is very playable. The staff is friendly, and the course was not busy on a beautiful afternoon. UPDATE: Out again last week and the course is still top notch. Great fairways, tee boxes and greens, and more and more bunkers have been renovated. Definitely living up to the hype surrounding it's recent publicity. It is a wonderful course, worth the trip.

The Golf Club of Texas is home to a well-rated and pleasantly testing golf course, which underwent a significant renovation in 2014/15. This open parkland layout, which sits just south of the private Briggs Ranch Golf Club, contains many attractive features and several excellent holes. Do not plan your event at this place. Worst food and service I have ever had. Planned my baby shower for 80 people. Went to three different food tastings. Planned months in advanced. Also met with coordinator day before and morning of and still so many things went wrong. We paid our full balance the day before our event. My Baby shower started at 4pm requested food to be ready at 4pm. Wasn't ready and out till 4:45. The food was served completely cold. Burners were not on to keep food warm. Tortillas were served right out of the package. Tasted raw. Chicken and beef fajitas had zero seasoning on the meat. Looked boiled. Rice was hard because everything was cold. They had two teenagers serving my guest that did not how to serve. One of my guest received literally 10 beans on their plate. They also said they made the rice. So there was no point to do the tastings. Never saw the chef. Had to tell the servers to replenish the lemonade and tea. Literately, they left two teenage servers to run the event on their own. I requested chips and salsa to be on the tables for guest before food. I had to ask for it and chips and salsa came out after everyone was done with the food. I also paid for 12 champagne bottles for a mimosa bar. I had to ask the servers 5 times to bring it out. Finally, he admitted he was waiting on a text from the coordinator to give him permission to give me the champagne I had already paid for. After the champagne came out then I had to ask for the orange juice a few times. It was like pulling teeth anytime we needed anything. As my event was beginning the bar manager told me she was closing the bar at 7pm because she was never told about my event. She showed me my event on her paper work and thought I would be here at 12. Told me sorry probably a miscommunication. There was absolutely no one there to see everything through. Which is the whole reason why people have events and pay the 20% service fee. So you don't have to stress out on your special day. I asked do i need to bring cake plates. They told me no. They ran out and started using black paper plates for my all white and pink baby shower. At that point I was just happy they had something. Again, that is why I asked in advance.I brought up everything that went wrong to the Coordinator and to the Food and Service Director. They agreed that my event went wrong and wanted to compensate me with more food. Is that my main complaint to begin with? I nicely declined and requested some money back or credit to the course or anything else. No response from management. Save your money go somewhere else.

Save your money! It is WAY over priced for what you are getting. Supposedly they have new grass but there is still a LOT of weeds and carpet grass on the fairways. Other than the grass I couldn't tell any major changes. It's still the same layout but the front and back nine have been switched. Many of the greens were in poor shape and were bumpy. There is very little in the way of water stations so you better pack in your own because there wasn't a cart girl. The golf carts are obviously some old used gas carts that looked to be repainted but were slow, LOUD and crappy. And speaking of golf carts. You had better be ready to carry your clubs a LONG way in from the parking lot. You can not go out to your car to get your clubs and they darn sure don't have any one there to help you so if you're old or handicapped you're pretty well screwed.There isn't even a bag drop location out front anymore. Oh, and when you DO finally get to a cart you can't have a key until 10-15 minutes before your tee time. I left feeling very ripped off so I will not be going back probably EVER!! There are just too many better golf courses in San Antonio to play for that kind of money. Their big focus seems to be on trying to upgrade you to a players pass for an additional $99 per year to get you $30 off the green fee of $79. No way is this course worth $79. For that price you should expect a certain amount of amenities which are absent. At $49 it wouldn't be much more of a bargain. This is sad because at one point this was a really nice course to play. Their restroom facilities are still lacking with only ONE on the course located in the middle. Not convenient at all. While I will admit that the staff was pleasant but not particularly helpful.

First of all I like this golf course. It has challenges that make it like none other. That said it looked like they had just mowed after not mowing for a week with piles of grass clippings . Some of the weeds along the cart paths are getting pretty close. All in all we did have fun

This course is amazing! Hot or cold their Zoya grass is by far the best. It is beautiful, and forgiving unless you hit off the fairway. Good luck finding your ball in the Texas brush & Watch out for cactus and thorns if you go looking. Very well maintained.

My opinion, this place isn't what it used to be. We went the other day, food was terrible, sweet potato fries were under cooked (they took it off the check), bar was dirty, glasses were dirty, and overall it just wasn't the same. We used to go every now and again in late 2017, early 2018 and it was good but ever since they lost their food and beverage manager, it isn't the same. Update 16 June 2019: Friend and I came in, we both ordered burgers that took over 20 minutes to come out. The fries were fried until they looked like twigs and tasted as if they were fried in 3 day old oil. Beer was good, Chloe and Mackenzie were our bartenders, they were amazing!! Friendly, smiling faces, and happy to be doing their jobs, customer service was top notch. They had NO WINGS, period. How do you run out of food? I know how, you under order to save money. This place could be the best thing since sliced bread considering the fact that there aren’t very many places to eat in this area. The bar is probably the best part about this place, other than that, it’s honestly a waste. Pay a REAL chef to come in and revamp your menu and wait for the word to spread! The manager is literally getting a paycheck, that’s it. True leadership would change the bottom line when it comes to income!

Waited 15 min in the restaurant/bar while the staff walked around helping all the "locals"... watched as new people came in and served... moved to the bar... still ignored, while the staff chatted with the regulars. After another 10 minutes, asked to see the management(they thought that was funny). So unless they know you or you are dressed to impress, I wouldn't waste my time...

Played there today and would call it ok. This is the first time I played since they reopened. The $40 green fee was reasonable. More than that would be overpriced. The nines have been switched but no other changes to the layout. The new grass has potential but needs to mature a bit. Most of the tee boxes were quite rough with a lot of sand. Fairways were nice but a number of greens had bare spots. The rough and "natural" areas need some work. A lot of weeds in those areas. Cleaning that up would make the experience more enjoyable and visibly pleasing. All in all I hope the current management can keep moving the course in the right direction. This is a fun layout and can be great once the conditions improve.

Played this course for the first time yesterday. The grass was incredible! The ball always sits up with a perfect lie and makes ball-striking much easier. The carts are equipped with GPS and a digital scorecard to add to the experience. Food was great after the round, and the bartenders were friendly. Almost forgot... The green fee with cart was only about $30! Highly recommend this place.

We were from out of town and were not aware this is a private club. It is WAY out of downtown San Antonio. The course was fine for January. There is no quick food available at the 9 hole turn. We waited at least 15 minutes.

Dirty Silverware and The plates we got are looking marked up and filthy. The entire place is going downhill consistently as time goes by. Management needs to step it up and get rid of the lazies. Walking up to the entrance as well as leaving, it smells like sewage and trash everywhere in this little nook. I would not consider bringing a big family to eat here. Let alone yourself.

Greens were OK, dry and lightning fast but fair. The place was arid and hot with almost no water available (except near the pro shop) in the 98 degree heat. I get it there's no beverage cart service but there's no excuse - none - to not have someone provide more water on more holes. There were very few around and.all but one was empty. Does anyone care about this place? Im generous with three stars. GCOT... you can do better...

This was one of the first courses I played in San Antonio in 2006, and back then it was a phenomenal course and an exceptional value for the money, a real gem. Every year thereafter, things got steadily worse... I lost count of how many times it was 'under new management', as each successive management company took this course and drove it into the ground even further than the company before it. Course conditions went from spectacular (beautiful greens and fairways) to so-so conditions, to absolutely awful. The practice green in front of the club house had more crab grass in it than bermuda. The green fees went up every year even though the course conditions continued to decline, making the value of playing there less and less. It used to be about $29 with cart in 2006, but then topped over $40 (maybe even close to $50 on the weekends) for brown, haggard fairways and staff that seemed to care less and less about your golf experience or their course. I just tried calling 3 different numbers to find out when the course will be reopening, and all 3 are out of service. Just 'par for the course' when it comes to management companies for this once great facility. Keep your expectations low, and you might not be disappointed. We'll see...

The Birdie Seekers played our mid-week round at Golf Club of Texas (GCOT) on 27 Feb 2019. GCOT looks passive. But it is nothing of the sort. The course has all the challenge a golfer can handle. The 3 star rating is an upgrade from a previous review. Even though it is the winter season; the course could be in better condition. That said, the green conditions were much better....but still a bit bumpy. Surly the spring season should give way to get the greens back into top notch condition. The carts, fairways, driving range, light rough, club house, and staff were fine. However, the sand traps are still less than desirable. The Birdie Seekers thank you for our relationship; we intend on keeping it. However, my other golf club affiliation will not schedule GCOT due to the less than desirable conditions of the golf course meaning the bumpy greens and poor sand trap conditions. Each time we've played GCOT over the last year or so; the sand traps have been declared as ground under repair (GUR). This review is not to discourage golfers from playing GCOT; this review is to emphasize GCOT is an excellent venue and would be even greater if the aforementioned areas were properly addressed with a remedy.

Never even got to the golf course because the front nine was closed, and the pro shop attendant didn’t bother to tell us. Watched me book a better rate on GolfNow (after being given the chance to match), then we drove to the 1st tee and were chased down by the starter. I did receive a rain check and then had to go through GolfNow to get my fee returned. I have to go back to use my rounds but otherwise I wouldn’t return.

Course is in very good shape. Fairways are excellent. Rough Around The Greens pretty high and tough. Greens are a little bumpy but they're going through there summer change over so they should be good in a couple weeks. Really enjoy the course, the clubhouse the lunch.

A gem on the outskirts. What used to be known as “the course next to Briggs” has become a serious contender. Excellent for all skill levels.
