Nice little family owned course...play 9, 11 or a full 18...it's walkable...carts available...there is a nice Cafe with a full bar...good food...friendly people.

My regular foursome couldn't play so I was on my own to find a course to play at. I decided to try wood river and when I arrived I immediately noticed there was no dress code. Sleeves optional. I got to the 1st tee and hooked up with a member. Fairways were excellent and the greens were true and medium speed. The front was open and the back had a stretch of holes in the woods that were tight and blind. If I was alone I would still be trying to find my way around. It was a fun course, no sand, but occasional trouble that made it interesting. I'm going back as soon as I can get the gang together. $32.00 pp with cart.

Fun CHEAP place to play golf. Usually not busy in the mornings, and an easy walk. Relatively easy course compared to some others in the area(similar to beaver river in difficulty, but shorter). My go to course in the area; would be even better if they had a practice green, though. Food is pretty good too, dinner specials on some nights

Can't speak to the golf, but the food and service at the pub is not great. French fries were served lukewarm, and the sandwiches were either super greasy or smothered in sauce. The second night we went service was almost nonexistent. It shouldn't take a half hour to get to us, God forbid if we wanted to order to some drinks or apps. The only thing the waitress could say was, "Sorry, i was serving the people on that side of the room." Ok? You mean the side of the room with maybe 3 booths full of people? That's why it took 30 minutes just to get our orders in? Maybe don't open a restaurant if serving food to people is too much of a burden?

The 11th Green Restaurant and Pub at Wood River Golf is an excellent large family-owned and managed restaurant. The entire Thompson family and their helpful staff are very amiable and down-to-earth. I believe the best way for me to describe the cuisine is "gourmet home-style food". Yet happily the prices are reasonable with the portions generous. The food is always fresh, and there are many creative dishes to choose from; vegetarian and GF options too. Our family/friends have eaten there (or gotten take out) many times over the years and have never been disappointed. They offer lunch and dinner, a Today's Specials menu and a bar menu. Great desserts! Take out is also available. In the warmer months they use their substantial garden grown behind the kitchen for many of the menus delicious vegetables, also buying locally when they can. The 11th Green Restaurant includes a large separate banquet room that capably accommodates parties, showers, fundraisers, tournaments etc. Seating throughout gives diners a relaxing view of the golf course. If you prefer to sit outside they recently added a beautifully landscaped outdoor patio next to a pond that includes a waterfall feature. They are open most of the year depending on the season. They tend to close in the dead of winter for a month or so; you might consider calling ahead to check (I have found they usually are open). The golf course is public and although I don't play golf a few people who do have told me its got about the most affordable prices in the area, even including a cart. The restaurant is about 25 or 30 minutes from Kent County (with ZERO stop lights all the way there once you're on Rt. 95)! From the south it's about 10 minutes from the CT border up 95 (about 15 or 20 minutes north of Westerly going the back way). Even in the summertime when the east side of South County is jammed everywhere with beach traffic this is a nice easy drive down Rt. 95 to Exit 2 then take a left and go straight about 2 1/2 miles and you'll find it set back on the left. Needless to say I personally highly recommend it. In fact I'm having a Pavlovian Response as I write this. :-)
