REVIEWS OF Olde Stonewall Golf Club IN Pennsylvania

Olde Stonewall Golf Course is home to one of the top-rated and finest championship golf courses in the Pittsburgh area. The excellent tree-lined and open parkland layout contains a wealth of wonderfully crafted, memorable and challenging holes. The back-nine with its considerable elevation changes and impressive rock formations, provides championship golf at its most dramatic.

The staff was incredibly kind! They made my experience very enjoyable! from squeezing me in with a couple of regulars for a last minute tee time, to loaning me a pair of pants to meet the course dress code! They even took me back to a couple key holes for some photos after. I went early November and the Course was AMAZING! the colors were to die for! The best, and most pretty round of golf I have ever played!

I can see reason why this course is ranked so well in public courses in Pennsylvania. Course is very well maintained. All the staff we came into contact with were extremely nice and helpful. The food at Shakespeare was well above the normal golf course food. Overall the entire experience is worth the money.

This Hurdzan-Frye design is beautiful... simply breathtaking!! Every hole begs for the camera to be taken out of your pocket. Top notch service all around and a wonderful 19th hole to be enjoyed post round. This course is most certainly worthy of its #3 ranking as best public course in Pennsylvania! Will be back for sure!

Harry Trout

Great front 9, back 9 was like playing a different course....not worth $150 a round

11 of my friends and I played this course yesterday (June 2017). It's an excellent course, with a terrific layout and interesting holes. Be prepared for lots of elevation change. Also be prepared for challenging golf -- errant shots are penalized. Outstanding golf course.

The course is very well maintained, staff is very friendly and helpful, food is good and bar is great. The locker rooms are very clean, towel service, free shampoo and soap, etc. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

Amazin course - facilities - and staff. Always a wonderful experience!

Great course, with an outstanding design. There are no boring holes. Challenging greens, fairways that make you think about where you want to hit your next shot, bunkers that can come into play on most holes. What makes this a great course is that accuracy is valued over raw length, your short game will be challenged, and good putters with have an advantage.

Day K

Great course with an beautiful layout.

If you haven’t played here yet do yourself a favor and treat yourself. The Augusta National of Western pa. And the staff are extremely nice, helpful, polite and professional

$150 for a Thursday morning?! Yes expensive, but worth treating yourself once in a while. The conditioning of the semi private golf course is excellent with greens rolling at over 10 to maybe 12. Better then some elite country clubs I have played. Everything is really just about first class. This is a fun challenging course with two distinct nines. The front par 36 is relatively flat working around the local rivers. The back par 34 climbs up and down the mountain. It's unwalkable but the most heavy duty golf carts iv'e ever seen get you though it. Your reward at the end is Shakespeare's a very good restaurant, bar / pub with good food and drink. Very clean well supplied locker room. All in all, I think you get your money's worth. Treat yourself.

Went to Olde Stonewall for a special evening. Pictures, menu, and medieval castle atmosphere appeared to be different and fun. We sat on the patio with a beautiful view of the 18th hole and looked forward to sharing a bottle of wine and a leisurely meal. What we experienced was one of the most disappointing. Asked to sample an australian red blend that sounded nice. It came in a water glass and tasted like the bottle had been open several days. After struggling with the wine list, we settled on a chianti. Our waitress broke the cork. After disappearing with the bottle for a while, she returned and filled two very small basic wine glasses that were not very clean nor suitable for red wine. The wine wasn't very spectacular either. Our appetizer came and our waitress picked up a piece of toasted bread that had fallen off and put it back on top. Only thing missing was licking her fingers first. No apologies. We should have left then. The meats and cheese were cheap tasting. The olives and peppers were from a can. The whole board appeared to have been sitting in the fridge a long time waiting for us, maybe days? Our waitress must have known, because she started avoiding us even more and did not come back to take our dinner order. That turned out to be a blessing as a table near by lit up cigarettes and cigars. We jammed a cork that didn't really fit in, paid, and got out of there without the main course. Tried to find a manager on the way out, but there were not even the hosts nor hostess around to say goodbye nor ask how it went. We have high standards and maybe it was just a bad nite. View is nice, but would avoid anything more than ordering a beer from a bottle, and only if you bring something to wipe the bottle off with.

Played 18 holes and the layout was beautiful and interesting but not worth $150.00 per person.

One of the best public courses in the Pittsburgh area. I've played it a few times now and the course gets better every time. The greens are challenging and are impeccably maintained. I highly recommend playing in the fall if you have the opportunity. The course is surrounded by trees and hills on all sides and is quite scenic.
