Went to Olde Stonewall for a special evening. Pictures, menu, and medieval castle atmosphere appeared to be different and fun.
We sat on the patio with a beautiful view of the 18th hole and looked forward to sharing a bottle of wine and a leisurely meal. What we experienced was one of the most disappointing.
Asked to sample an australian red blend that sounded nice. It came in a water glass and tasted like the bottle had been open several days. After struggling with the wine list, we settled on a chianti. Our waitress broke the cork. After disappearing with the bottle for a while, she returned and filled two very small basic wine glasses that were not very clean nor suitable for red wine. The wine wasn't very spectacular either.
Our appetizer came and our waitress picked up a piece of toasted bread that had fallen off and put it back on top. Only thing missing was licking her fingers first. No apologies. We should have left then.
The meats and cheese were cheap tasting. The olives and peppers were from a can. The whole board appeared to have been sitting in the fridge a long time waiting for us, maybe days?
Our waitress must have known, because she started avoiding us even more and did not come back to take our dinner order.
That turned out to be a blessing as a table near by lit up cigarettes and cigars. We jammed a cork that didn't really fit in, paid, and got out of there without the main course.
Tried to find a manager on the way out, but there were not even the hosts nor hostess around to say goodbye nor ask how it went.
We have high standards and maybe it was just a bad nite. View is nice, but would avoid anything more than ordering a beer from a bottle, and only if you bring something to wipe the bottle off with.
