The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. The problem that they have is that most people treat the course terribly, while they're the same people who expect so much. Golf there in the fall or winter, when the summer crowds are gone and done with throwing beer cans or driving carts on the Tee boxes and greens, and see how nice this course is and how well it is maintained. Is it the best course I ever played? No, but it's a nice course, inexpensive and one that has a great set of regulars.

Chad Cope

What I would consider a hackers course however it is a good layout wish the city would help out with funneling money for the conditions totally possible.

Needs to be cleaned more often

Never been there.

Great improvement on the fairways. Good housekeeping. Ground crew work has noticeably improved within the last few months. Relaxing atmosphere. Rest rooms could use improvement, food bar needs more selections.

I am a beginner and this course is not in the best shape but it offers a laid back experience for a newbie. DO NOT USE THEIR ONLINE RESERVATION SYSTEM AS YOU WILL LIKELY BE CHARGED TWICE. I have been charged as a no show after playing so in effect I paid double the amount. I will never put my credit card in that system again and suggest you do not either.

Worst course I've ever played. Sand craters on greens.

Andrew Poskus

This course is local to center city, which is convenient for myself and others, but the course is a bit crossed on top of itself. A few of the greens and fairways were in bad shape. This said, I enjoy the laid back atmosphere.

This rating and review is specific to the driving range. I went on Sunday to hit balls and I was really disappointed with the facilities. 1. There are no yardage markers at the range (I'm not sure you can call it a driving range without, at the very least, yardage markers). 2. The mats are in really poor shape and were scattered all about. 4. There are no rubber tees to even hit driver off of the mats. 5. There are large trees covering a good chunk of the range so that about a quarter of the mats were not usable. They did have at least a putting green and a chipping green that I briefly used, which were in bad shape, but at least they were there. It does not seem like too much work to arrange the mats in some organized way, get rubber tees for them, and put some posts at 50, 100, 150, and 200, and 250 yards. It's a very low bar that they are falling short of and I think it could be corrected in a day if there was any motivation.

This course is cheap and the conditions reflect that. If you're an avid golfer, FDR will not be enjoyable for you. I usually go once or twice in the beginning of the season for a few warmup rounds, but it's more worth the time to travel out to Delaware County if you're looking for a nice round with much better landscape and scenery.

This course is a mess. For what they charge you’d think it’ll be in better shape. This course should be free to Philadelphia residents. It should be a crime to even have Rates for this course. The front nine is like a big mud hole as well as the back nine just not as bad. The fairways are like roughs. Puddles in the middle of the fairways. Just all around a terriabel course. I will never play here again. It’s a shame course it used to be half decent. Poor management.

Billy Gilbert

If the city put money into it, there is sooo much potential.. sad

David Broadwater

Come on everyone. This course isn’t THAT bad. Here’s my review, from a first timer there. 5/19/2019 PROS: a lot of wide open room on this course. Plenty of room to grab the driver and let it fly Pace of play was good. 3 hours, and that’s with being stuck behind a slow group of 3. Cart was fast. It was $17 to book online, incredible price. CONS: Not a lot of clear direction on the course. Confused multiple times as where to go next. a lot of VERY tall plants that made it nearly impossible to tell if anybody is ahead of you. No cart person driving around selling snacks/beverages A lot of the “cart path” is just a very bad road of mud. Thought we were getting stuck multiple times. Did not sell golf balls with the logo on it (but that’s just a personal thing as i collect those) No yard markers on the fairway to tell how close you are to the hole. Would play there again. Seen people in tank tops/ t shirts. Not sure on how strict the dress code is.

Nicholas Melillo

Absolutely terrible conditions. I paid $11 for a 12:40 Sunday tee time, and the price was definitely too good to be true. Fairways were basically rough everywhere, the green has never been upkept, and the grounds are full of ditches and holes. Spend the extra $10 or so and go to a course where the groundskeepers care.

John Leonard

For being in the city it's a great place to visit can do almost anything you can do it at a park tennis courts skateboarding can a paddle boat rental Mineral Lake it's good place to spend the day with very little money I recommended for family get-together picnics BBQs

Jid pen

This is one of the best dentist office that I ever been the best staff the best doctor thanks for being so professional and caring ❤

George Johnson

It's a pretty decent golf course, for being in the borders of the city of Philadelphia, PA. It's a full-sized 18 holes and they have improved it a lot over the years. I sometimes go there, and to the adjacent FDR Park, just to get away; it's a fairly large park, with 5 or 6 lakes in it; a good spot for some quiet time, ( most of the time!)

Thomas Duch

Greens are in rough shape for if you're a beginner or don't like spending a lot on a round, this is your place. Low $25 greens fees and wide open fairways.

I showed up to this course early in the season. When I got there, the manager Jason, was there. If you ask anyone whose ever been to this course, this guy is one of the worst people you'll ever meet. He proceeded to tell me the front 9 was closed and it was golf cart only. This would be understandable considering it was raining the day before, but when I asked if he thought he should've called me since I had my reservation made ahead of time, he simply told me no. After some back and forth, I asked him to cancel my tee time and left to go to another course. Huge waste of my time and Jason made it a point to be clear how little he cared, that's par for the course when it comes to Jason. Three weeks later I get an email from GolfNow at 8:30am saying that FDR informed them I never showed up for my tee time from three weeks ago, and I was to be charged $30. When I called FDR to dispute this and explain what happen, good ol' Jason was there again and refused to take my call from the call center person. I called the shop directly to speak to him and he said had no idea who would've told GolfNow that. I went on to tell him someone had to have told them that I didn't show up, GolfNow wouldn't have just charged me out of the blue and he was the one who I cancelled my tee time with. He then told me that FDR didn't need my $30 and hung up on me. I used to come to this place with friends and business associates on a weekly basis because it's proximity to the city. It's not the best course, but for the money I liked to get out and practice there. I will never come back to this course, and will let anyone know who listens how horribly of a managed place it is. All thanks to Jason.

Going to miss this place

Bring a hammer to put your tee in the ground lol course in decent shape not a very challenging course found ourselves confused to were the next hole was wouldn't hurt to drop a few loadeds of dirt on those cart paths. Calm down Joe the starter I recommend decaffeinated bud

Tom Mooney

Roosevelt Golf Course has always been a stepchild. Now that Billy Casper has given up on the course, it is on life support. There are two greens that are not diseased. The sand traps have more vegetation than my lawn. The fairways have no real grass and the rough is higher than most cornfields. Billy Caspar Co goes out of its way to thumb its nose at golfers who are looking to golf on a convenient course. The PGA should bar them from operating any golf course!

I have booked tee times and still had to wait over an hour multiple times. They have too many people on the course at once and you have to wait 10 minutes for every shot. Not to mention there course is never maintained. I would not recommend!

Its a decent course,,,still needs some work with some of the greens,,,there cart path needs a lot of work. But for the most part its o.k.

Hidden gem in the city

Joe Steward

The greens and tee boxes are in very bad shape. Weeds and crab grass seem to be on every single green. Piles in the lune of the lawnmower of dead cut grass was everywhere. Balls constantly had to be pulled out from under the thatch. I understand its a municipal course but the others seem to be better taken care of. The air conditioning in the clubhouse is broken and there were fans all over the place. I felt very bad for the girl working inside, it was so very hot. Very sad condition made for a less than pleasant experience. :-(

Ronald Roberts

I have watched the city of Philadelphia deliberately let this course deteriorate for years. Their failure to dredge the creeks, maintain greens and fairways is no accident. This and failure to force Billy Casper Golf management to fulfill the contract to care for the course reeks of collusion. It would cost the taxpayers of Philadelphia $20 Million to build a course in todays dollars. Because of it's location FDR should and could be the jewel of Philadelphia golf. A lack of vision, horrible management and what appears to be a back door agreement for future development of the property has led to the demise of valuable community asset. Now the fairways, greens and sand traps are overrun with crab grass as the city moves to close the course for good. What a shame!

The in back of FDR park roads are real bad needs to be repaved. Pothole bad

I live a 3 min drive to this course and still drive to jersey or Delaware to play it’s a shame this course has deteriorated over the last few years it’s a shame that we have to drive out of our way to play when it’s basically in our backyard u can’t even get good practice the range is spotted patches of grass the mats are scattered and the yardage signs aren’t even there

Ryan Lee

This course is absolutely disgraceful. The conditions are deplorable and it's a shame because it has the potential to be a nice course. The course needs money put into it. If I was the owner I would be embarrassed by the conditions of this course.

Andy Cook

It feels like everybody is sorting over one another. Three course flows, but is not the most challenging.
