Worst golf course experience I've ever had. Drove 2 hours on a Saturday afternoon, and showed up a half an hour early for our tee time. Was told by the lady at the desk that they were busy, but running somewhere between on time and 5 minutes behind. Frustrating, but it happens everywhere, no big deal. After waiting till 15 minutes past our tee time for a cart because they were out and none had come in, we thought we would be clear sailing when we finally got to the first tee. When we drive up over the hill to the first tee we see a cart driving away after hitting their tee shot, only to see 4 more groups (7 carts total) still ahead of us waiting to tee off. I've never in my life seen or even heard of a golf course overbooking like they did. We ended up demanding our money back, and playing another local course. I'd never recommend such a course ran by such a greedy bunch of people! Also the food was inedible. Update: . Owner is either clueless or a liar. While discussing the overcrowding with the starter. The starter told me "we currently have between 190-200 people on the course. The course is only designed to handle 144 at a time" . He also stated "the reason we're so overcrowded is because when someone wants to replay, we're told to squeeze them in between tee times" . And said many people were replaying that day.

Outstanding golf experience in Ohio! I’ve played the course four times before and have enjoyed it more with each visit. It is well worth the drive from Cleveland. Course conditions were excellent from tee to greens. I hopefully will be back before the 2019 season ends.

David Crowley

Great course, fast play and lovely patio. The greens were recently punched and topdressed but are a couple weeks away from being very true. If you have the chance skip eagle sticks and play virtues twice.

Michael donohoo

One of the most esthetic courses I've ever played and I've played plenty. The topography is second to none. My wife played with me and was the only female playing from what we saw. Tough course for her but she was glad she tried it. If I lived within a couple of hours it would become a frequent course with my buddies.

Steven Odum

Still a very good golf course! Dinner was good as well.

Extremely fun and challenging course with varying styles of holes. The greens were very smooth, and the facilities were tremendous.

The Virtues Golf Club (formerly called Longaberger Golf Club) is home to one of the top-rated championship golf courses in Ohio. Located an hour's drive east of Columbus, Ohio, this excellent tree-lined and open parkland layout contains a wealth of wonderfully crafted, memorable and challenging holes. Definitely a course that will challenge your all-round game, and well worth going out of your way to play.

The best public golf course in Ohio. Great track and great people running things. Well worth the drive if you are not from the local area.

Amazing place! Awesome staff and the course is immaculate!

I Live 5 miles from the virtues Golf Club. My two sons and I are members. We have played golf all over the state of Ohio and there is no comparison. This golf course is kept immaculate. The customer service is outstanding. The new manager, Hung Chow, is going to take the place to a new level. There is, in my opinion, no better public golf course in Ohio, and maybe in the Midwest.

I have had a Membership here since April, and I am willing to tell anyone that it is the best Golf Club in the county and one of, if not the best in the state. The course is laid out perfectly and was designed to roll with the hills. The fairways are always mown and have no dead patches. the greens are great, but most of them are tilted back towards the fairway, which makes you pay dearly for overshooting. The food and drinks are great, and the guys in the Pro Shop are always helpful. Would play this course on a weekday afternoon, because it gets busy in the mornings and especially during the weekends.

Charlotte Smith

Betti makes you comfortable the minute you walk in. Makes the best whiskey sour I have ever tasted!!

Larry Lewerke

$84 for 7:30am tee time. Played the front in two hours only to find four foursomes starting off the back when we made the turn. Waited 1/2 hour. Management didn’t think there was any problem with that. Won’t be back.

Robert Chapman

What an awesome going course. Certainly lives up to the hype. Quick greens, undulating fairways, elevated tees and dog legs will challenge any golfer. Look out for the final 4 holes. They're a doozy!

If you're looking for an experience, look no further. From a grand clubhouse to a beutiful test of your skills, this course leaves you waiting to come back.

Played here earlier this summer, and it was excellent! What a great value for the experience too; I hope the owners understand what a great attribute it is to have a great course that normal recreational golfers are willing to pay for. As for the layout itself, it is both fun and challenging. Lots of forced uneven lies (which I like for added interest) and the shapes and turns of the fairways were great (btw #8 might be the best par 4 I've ever played). The conditioning was great too. I have 2 minor critiques; it would be a very, very difficult walk and (somewhat related to that) I thought some of the elevation changes were a little too severe (you have no idea how far you might hit it).

Rick Lawrence

Great course and facility!

Seth Galentine

Well maintained course with pretty views. A highly recommended play!

Came out of town for a my son's wedding. Made an appt for 8 am. My stylist did not show up for work on time. I had to leave without services because of the time schedule and events for the day. Very unprofessional.

I live 2 hours away, and always look forward to playing this course. I must say I was disappointed with today's visit (5/15/18) when approaching the 1st green to find out the greens were aerated. Nowhere on the home page did it say anything about that, nor when I called in to book a tee time. $80 was a little steep for greens that were bouncing all over the place. No access to the lounge to buy water for the morning start, no cart girl on the front 9, led to an unquenchable thirst in the heat and the humidity. I will still come back as I do each year as the course was beautiful today as always, just left the facility very disappointed.

Eric Roberts

I just played this course yesterday and it is recovering very well from aerations. Greens held great and actually rolled well. Beautiful scenery with tons of wildlife to see. Give this course another two weeks and it will be phenomenal! This is a must play course if you are within a couple hours drive time

Patrick Sharkey

Plant some trees. Too hot

John Lint

The course is real challenge for seniors 65 and older to play the areas around all the greens is the physical challenge getting up and down all the steep hills. About halfway through the back nine my lower back starts to give out on me. The greens and course conditions are GREAT. The cost for Seniors on retirement income is too high i can play 2 time's at most places . If the course would allow senior carts a low access point to the green side designated area would help and a lower green fee. PS.I will be turning 76 on August 18th.

Tim Irwin

Phenomenal golf property. Beautiful wedding venue. Only downside is it's a good hour from Columbus. That being said its well worth it.

Alexander Ruchti

Stopped by on the way from Pittsburgh to Cincinnati. Excellent course in one of the most beautiful, picturesque settings you will see. Amazing golf experience, fairways and greens in great playing conditions. 7,200 yards from the black tees. They claim to be the No. 1 public course in Ohio and among the top 15 public courses in the country. I will definitely not argue with that!

WOW! What a gem! The virtues is an absolutely breathtaking central Ohio course that I would highly recommend anyone to play at least once! Not only is the course in outstanding shape, the scenery associated with this course is second to none! We had a blast on our first outing to The Virtues. The greens were a bit faster than what we were used to, and some were a bit tough to read but they all played wonderfully. Fairways and tee boxes were superb! As a mid - high handicapper I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this course, even included a small bag of range balls on their wonderful practice facility! Catching a twilight rate is a very fair price, however I'm not sure I could justify paying some of the weekend morning / day rates. Awesome food, and drink choices! Amazing pro shop! The club house is absolutely beautiful, just like every other part of this facility. Now, there are only two things I disliked about this course, and the reason for 4, not 5 stars. The pace of play was far less than desirable. While it wasn't "busy" to my standards at all, it still took our 4 man group just over 5 hours to complete our round. I would have loved to see a ranger or two while on the course keeping the pace up as we had some very slow groups ahead of us. Secondly, and the more aggravating of my two "cons" of this course during our outing. On holes 6-9 we were faced with a rather annoying and frustrating situation. There were two younger girls, in a cart, not selling anything, that seemed to be "slightly" intoxicated simply driving around the course as if they were on a Sunday drive, without a care in the world. While teeing off on hole 8, they were driving through the middle of the fairway coming DIRECTLY towards us at the tee box while we were hitting!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! On the other holes they would simply drive around on and off the fairways as if we weren't even there. It was very frustrating as they were being loud, even yelling at times, with no regard for us or any of the other players on the course. I felt this was very unprofessional, and disrespectful as I'm sure they were employees of some kind, or at least had some affiliation with the course. All in all a great day and loved the course. Definitely among the best courses in the area that I have played.

AAG Development eulberg

Really good golf shop staff. Mgmt worked with us to arrange a terrific weekend of golf. Food's good, beer's cold, locker room available for cleaning up. Great Arthur Hills' design. It's challenging, so pick the correct yardage/tee box for your game.

tym2glf .

Course is in really good condition. Lacks some of the fine manicured detail that it used to have, like around the edges of the same traps for example. Greens are in great shape though, true and fast. Cart paths need some work but it's Ohio!

I am a 4 handicap that plays twice a week in Miami Fl. Visiting Columbus for the weekend, everyone steered us to Logenberger. What a special place and incredible course. Extremely challenging, picturesque and in impeccable shape. It has elevation changes and holes that require all types of shot making. I am already deciding when I'm coming back. One of the nicest courses I have ever played!!!

Excellent golf. The #1 course in Ohio. Inside the restaurant is also amazing. Great food and great service

Played the course today and perfect as usual only bad thing was the pushy course ranger that had trouble with accurate time keeping. He approached our group twice on the front about pace of play and again after we finished and in a rude manor. We played the course in 4 hrs and 25 minutes. After talking with the course pro we found this to be a normal time. This certainly did take away from the experience from my friends that came in from out of town.

Frank

Great course, but the pro shop was nearly empty when I last visited. Might have been related to name change or end of season. Did not affect my play, which was awful.

I have a real problem with the operation of the course. We made a tee time by phone last week, and travelled from Cincinnati to play on 9/7. We find out after we are on the first green that aeration is going on. We payed full price. We weren't told by the person on the phone, the bag handler, the cashier, or the starter that aeration was going on - it seemed to be a big secret. Also, the putting green was in perfect shape. You can't tell me that this was all just an oversight. I spoke to another group just arriving and they also had no idea of the aeration. This is totally irresponsible on the part of the course. They must be very proud to have put one over on us.

An absolute peach.

Such a beautiful course. Staff was very friendly. Only a couple minor complaints. We rolled very quickly through about 12 holes in an hour and 45 minutes. Hole 13-18 took 2.5 hours. When we got to the clubhouse, one of the workers noted there was a 6 hour group. There has to be some intervention with a group after they break pace and back the entire course up. It ruined any momentum our group had. The other issue was the lack of a beverage cart that was supposed to be out for all 18 holes, as well as the halfway house being closed. Will be back, hope we don’t see these issues next time!!

After playing on our local public courses for years, playing at Virtues was like having to relearn playing golf. The fairways are like most greens I've played on locally, and the greens are super fast. It also plays a lot longer than it looks. The "no carts on the fairway due to recent rain" rule slowed things down a bit, but I was okay with the extra time it took me to walk out to the ball in order to play on such a pristine course. The only downside to this was a group two ahead of us which severely slowed play and caused a backup at every tee box. We waited behind another group on #3 for 15 minutes, as they were waiting to tee off due to the slow players in front of them. Every hole afterward, we would arrive at the tee box to the group ahead of us teeing off while the other group was just walking up to putt. It took us 3 hours to finish the front 9 which was ridiculous and I didn't see a pace keeper the entire time. Overall time for 18 holes was just over 5 hours. We were the last group of the day, so we were literally putting on #18 in the dark. We anticipated finishing up around 8, not 9:15. It was a challenging course which I donated several balls to, and I will definitely be back despite the 2 hour drive. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star review was due to the slow players in front that were seemingly unchecked, which got frustrating as it was getting dark.

Pat Bielski

These people have no idea how nice of course they have and it's sad.

John Sharrer

Everybody was friendly and it was a good atmosphere to be around you could oversee the golf course and number 18 hole coming up and the food was good.

Great course. Most unique aspect of it is that each hole is so removed from the others. No hitting into other fairways here. Beautiful country scenery, and a golf course to match.

This is the 3rd time I have played here. Having played when it first opened (course was awesome), played 10 years ago and played this week. It’s apparent the course is on the decline. Unfortunate because its a really great design by Arthur Hills. While the fairways were good Some tee boxes were questionable especially on the par 3’s. They were very beat up with tons of divots and seemingly being neglected. In fairness I did not look at other tee boxes other than the white tee locations. The par 4 tee boxes were ok but noticed on 10 there was long straw type of grass growing in spots. The real disappointment was the traps. Clearly were not raked or maintained at all. They were very crusty, they actually seemed like they had a coating of hardness on top as when stepping into you could hear a cracking sound. Playing the day after Memorial Day, I would have thought they would have been in better shape. I actually hit into the bunker on the green on 18 and it had grass/weeds growing in it. We finished our round at 3:30. So the fact that 18 wasn’t raked must have meant they were not getting to them that day. The greens were ok but remarkably hadn’t fully recovered from aeration which took place early May. That’s over 3 weeks later, not certain why they wouldn’t have healed. They were very playable just bumpy, you could still see the spots from the punching. I really hope this course gets the attention it needs as its a real jewel. I am guessing the location keeps it from being as busy at it could be and probably hard to justify higher rates to keep it maintained like it should be. Despite my comments its worth playing and I still give it 4 of 5 stars. Hoping one day it could return to the condition it was when it first opened.

Fantastic course, love playing here. Played on 10.3.16, great experience except it took my wife and I 5+ hours to play, and it wasn't that crowded. Did see a ranger after second hole. After the 15th or 16th hole , was ready to end it, too long of wait in between holes. Other than that, course was in awsome shape.

Paul DiCuirci

Love this course! A group of friends comes to play it once or twice a year. Always in great condition to play. You’ll be challenged as a golfer, but enjoy the experience. Fall is my favorite time to play it. Stay left on hole #1!

John Nairn Smith

A beautiful high-end public course that is always in tournament-like condition. Most of the holes are pretty open off the tee, then they narrow as you approach the green. A very fair test of golf when you play from the appropriate tees. The views of the Licking River Valley are frequently stunning and not spoiled by houses/condos/etc. Well worth the money, at least once. Locals get an excellent deal. Call them for details.

Spencer King

Possibly the best golf course value in the US. We drove 4 hours to play here and paid less for our Sunday round than we do at average local courses in Indiana and Michigan. This is an absolutely stunning course. We honestly thought we had accidentally chosen a private course to play at because it was so immaculate, was a beautiful property and clubhouse, and had super friendly staff. Pace of play is really fast, which is great. This course definitely exceeded our expectations.

Gary Stamm

Great layout. Great design. Well maintained.
