I've been playing here for 15 years! Great course, though very narrow with lots of players who can't keep the ball in their own fairway. If you pay attention and play the game you'll have a great time at this course. The Veranda also has pretty good food, and is great for a nice meal after a round.

Underrated little gem. Course is in very good condition, fairways are close to each other but offers hilly (front 9)and flat holes(back9). Great for tournaments, fund raisers, leagues, individual games. Open year round. On site parking, 5 minutes from si expressway, multiple bus routes in front go to si ferry. Small restaurant on site, small pro shop. Unsure if lessons are available. Prices vary by time and weekend/weekday

Another pleasant local NYC public course. Probably the best condition the course has been in for a while. Again if you get out early on any day you will be fine and be finished in 4 hours or under, but be prepared to do it on 5 hours or more if you manage to get a teetime after 8am, prices at all public courses in the are are in my opinion and the expensive side.

This is my choice when i want to stay within the City. Getting here from the Staten Island Ferry is relatively easy either by bus, Uber, or the course's own shuttle. Course conditions are good, one of the better munis for sure.

It was a beautiful day for golf, but unfortunately the golf gods had other plans for us today. I woke up with “the feeling” as us golfers know, excited to golf and envisioning shooting low. As we approach the clubhouse, things became a bit confusing, but we still had hope! As we awaited our tee time we had a drink overlooking a beautiful set of holes. Our anticipation and excitement grew as more and more people tee’d off. Then, as quickly as it came, the excitement was gone as we watched an army of carts come over the hill in what looked to be a scene out of Superbad... or hell. T shirts, converse shoes, flip glasses, hula girl shirts, dress shoes with skinny jeans... you name it, we saw it. I’m all for people learning the game I love so much, however I will never unsee a cart almost flipping over as their 3rd and 4th players attempt to tee off (at the same time) in what looked to be a form of air bending. Needless to say, the ball never left the tee. As the rest of the army approached, they dispersed like mice being circled by a hawk to the various tee boxes. It was at this point that we learned they had just finished 18. Time for round 2! Needless to say, we received a full refund for our round, which was very nice, however I will forever remember my experience at the silver lakes golf course.

I read some reviews about the line up for starting and slow pace of play and was a bit worried but didn't experience that at all on a mid-day tee off on a Saturday. We got right on the course and moved around well all day. The course is short but in pretty good shape for a public course. Some very nice greens and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. Seems to be a good atmosphere at The Veranda though I didn't have time to stick around. Will definitely come back and play again.

Worst golf experience ever. Tee time at 10:30 and we didn't tee off until 11:15 and we waited on a line like an amusement park. Insane. The group behind us had exact same tee time. They overbook on purpose and load the golf course with a ton of golfers. Round took 5 1/2 hours to play a par 70. Golf course is in terrible condition. Better off just going to an open park and hitting a golf ball around. This place isn't a golf course, it's a complete joke. Go somewhere else and don't waste your time or money. I wish I could leave a negative star rating.

Very good condition for mid-December. Well maintained. Greens good. Tee boxes good. Fairways soft. Cart paths need repairs. Short yardage but tight. A couple of weak Par 3's. Overall good value for money; will play again.

I haven't played Silver Lake in over ten years since moving to New Jersey, but played recently with my brother in law. This course is much improved from what it used to be, and for a course that gets alot of play it was in great shape. the fairways were cut perfect, the greens were in great shape, and with few exceptions the tee boxes were in good shape ( I can remember playing here and looking to find an area of grass in the tee box to tee up from). It's a narrow course, which can be challenging, but it's a nice course to play, definetly will be coming back in the near future.

Course is always in good condition for a muni course and given how much play it gets from hackers. Lush fairways and smooth greens. You can always tell quality of course by quality of tee box, and silver lake's tee boxes are usually well kept.

Course was in fair shape, holes were laid out nicely and overall the grounds were nice. Played on Sunday 7/30 at 10am. Tee time was pushed from 10 to 10:30 upon our arrival which should have been a red flag. Made it through the first 9 holes in 3.5 hours and finally left after 13 holes in 5.5 hours. I, like most, dont have 7 hours to play a round of golf and especially if I am going to pay $75 - I can play a Bergen County course for $50 and be done in 5.

It's been a long time since I felt this ripped off. It's disappointing that the course decided to host a 90 person tournament on Sunday morning and even more disappointing they failed to let the other customers know. I just got home, we walked off the course after 9 holes of play . The nine took us over 3 hours to play and if everything went as planned we were looking at a 6 hour round. There were groups that were more than a full hole behind and sadly no ranger on the course to keep things moving. When I spoke to the pro shop about this after paying over $70.00, I was met with "I'm sorry" .

One of 3 staten island golf courses. Short but not so easy golf course if played from the tip. The conditions of the course need to be maintained better. Its gets really bad in off seasons when goose poops dominates the course and no maintenance is done. Course has pour drainage on the back nine. Additional work is in dire need. Wish the management would do their civic duties and perform their contractual obligations they had with the city.

I think golf courses should warn golfer's as a courtesy when they aerate the greens, all the greens on the golf course were unputtable leaving an undesirable taste in my mouth, the course was terrible and the grass has not been trimmed on the fairways making it difficult to find your ball, also we encountered some unsavory individuals hitting the balls onto the green while we were putting, I was not happy about that, they were very rude with nasty attitudes,, hope it never happens again so for now I'll give this place one star. I had a horrible experience....

Coarse is in Fair to good condition with a few fairway spots under repair. Tight public coarse so you have to keep your head up but a fun place to play. Very good burgers at the restaurant as well

Found out about this course early this season. Have played it 6 times now. It seems like a hidden gem. Tee times are not as packed like the rest of the city courses and the layout is extremely fun. My brother and I are making this our new go to course for the summer for sure. The food is great as well and priced fair. Nothing but good things to say about this course. The staff is extremely nice as well. They have a shuttle from the free ferry. Definitely worth it! Also as a bonus a cute looking dog hangs around the pro shop sometimes.

Here’s how my day went at Silver Lake: Show up and go into the pro shop (which is a trailer) and the gentleman walking out whispers “save yourself man” as he collects his refund in disgust and exits the trailer. I’m in a good mood looking forward to some golf on a beautiful day and travel over an hour to so unfortunately discount his advice — boy was that a mistake. As I’m walking out, 50 drunk Irishman come barreling up the hill in their carts like the charge scene in Braveheart. They commandeer both the 1st and 10th tee box from the poor souls waiting to get out. We tried to wait but also found out that 3 other groups were booked at the same time as us. There was also no starter. If you decide to play here and have read this review, just remember, “save yourself” and may God have mercy on your soul.
