REVIEWS OF Douglaston Golf Course IN New York

If I could give zero stars I would. Not sure how they have a 4 start review. The greens are not maintained well. The starter does not move anyone along . 3 carts playing at the same time . I could go on and on . After 6 holes my group and I left. Do NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

Mark Nealon

The golf course itself is interesting and you will most likely use every club in the bag. The reasons for 3 stars are as follows... First, you must pay to park. It's only $2.75 but still, c'mon. Second, they actually don't honor tee times! They'll charge you extra for making a tee time, but just know a 1pm tee time means you'll probably tee off around 1:45pm. It's crazy and the only course I can think of that regularly does this. Third, nobody and I mean nobody fixes ball marks on the greens. For some reason, I've seen some of the worst players on a golf course so luckily the longer approaches don't have many ball marks anyway. The shorter holes look like the surface of the moon. Because it's a pretty short course, I think a lot of new golfers play here. That by itself would be fine if these people knew to either pick it up and drop it next to their buddy, and keep up with the group in front of them. 5 hour rounds are the norm, and remember, it's a shorter par 67 course so it plays at least an hour longer than it should. Should be a fun little course, but most likely you'll be so glad to finally finish the round and get out of there. When they're sending out groups every 8 minutes, it'll drive you crazy when the group in front of you falls 2 holes behind! I thought that's what rangers are for?

As golf courses go its short but with some fun holes, to many par 3, but well that's the way it is. It was in very good condition from tee to green when we played. Usual NYC public golf course pricing and the book online booking fee ripoff. Go early and avoid the long rounds or twilight for a cheaper round.

Nice course. Reasonable price.

Don't know why all the complaints about service, I have been treated well by both the desk staff and starter the last 2 years, The course is in great shape in spite of the lack of rain and course use Okay, I could do without $2.75 for parking and a 4.5 hour round on a Wednesday morning so I take away a star for these 2 items

Nice little executive course. Every Hole you see three to four other groups.. Understandable because they don't have a lot of room. Lots of blind shots and tricked up holes. That being said, if you just want to get out and play it's not bad.

AE TV

This is a great course. Staff is very friendly from club house to grounds crew. In the 3 years playing here, have never had a bad experience. The morning GOLFERS are friendly with a cheers atmosphere. Greens in excellent condition and rest of course well maintained.

Course is in good shape, about as good as anyone could expect from a muni with as many rounds as this gets annually.

A great venue! Truly a gem of the GolfNYC group (Van Cortland GC, Kissena Park GC, and Forest Park GC, are the others). I played on a gorgeous Sunday, so it did play a little long (5-hrs), but usually, you can round this course in 4-hrs. This is a short, yet challenging course. The entire facility is well maintained with friendly staff. Ed and Jason at the front desk were extremely helpful, and the starters were very attentive, as well. The rangers made sure the players moved at a good pace. They have a decent snack bar with hot dogs, sandwiches, and drinks fully stocked--all at reasonable prices. The parking lot has a charge of 3$, which is normal at most GolfNYC venues. All in all, a great course with fantastic landscapes and challenging holes! A must play course! ALSO, a bit of an inconvenience, however, it’s the club’s policy: you have to give a piece of (state/city) ID when you get a cart key; just DON’T FORGET TO RETRIEVE IT WHEN YOU RETURN THE CART KEY!

We have held a few special events in this venue and attended several others hosted here. The organizers are very friendly and always willing to accommodate your requests within reasons. The Douglaston Golf Course is a well mainted, well groomed course with absolutely fantastic views of the Manhattan skyline. The grounds feature nice little forest enclaves, well manicured shrubbery and lawns and small ponds. The main building is kept up in emmaculate condition. An overall very pleasant establishment. One of the best courses on Long Island and indeed the tri-state area.

Nice public course. Elevations are good. Gets crowded in the sprin/summer weekends

The real problem with Douglaston is the customer service and out right RIP OFF. I walk in and there's no one at the clubhouse, and when someone did arrive he was rude and angry...it wasn't even 8am. Hate to see him after a day of "work." I asked him for the rate since we missed the early bird by 10 min. He rolls his eyes and points to some board and walks away. Real nice. I've been here 3 times and it's always the same. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. Kissena staff is much nicer. If I were management if get rid of everyone there and start over. And as I can see all the other reviews agree with me. Don't even go.

The Douglaston Golf Couse is a well maintained establishment and with great manicured grounds keeping. The views are absolutey fantastic featuring the Manhattan skyline and the surrounding north shore area. The course is well groomed featuring small forest enclaves, ponds and shrubbery. By far one of the best courses on Long Island and the tri-state area.

One of the best kept greens for a public course. Excellent views and elevations. Fun and challenging course. Average play time is 5+ hours

It's on almost every hole no ranger to be seen around and players who can't play black tees playing them easy 5 and a half hour round. Better playing long island courses

I don't golf but the sledding was excellent. There is a spot with many hills that provides hours of fun for beginner to advanced sledders. It is very enjoyable and I go every time it snows enough. I usually stay for hours on end rushing down the snowy slopes. There are some trees to watch out for though. Also if your sled falls into a watertrap it is gone forever. The fences help this though. This is a prime sledding location in my neighborhood. Gave 4 stars due to my lack of ability to enjoy the golfing that happens 350 days a year there but the place is still awesome In conclusion I would recommend this awesome place for any sled, toboggan or snowtube enthusiasts.
