Our first (and last time) to Paradise Hills Golf Course was an awful experience. To begin, our original tee time was 10:30am to which when we arrived were told there were more players than anticipated for the tournament before us and so we would tee off at 11:40a...approximately 70 minutes behind. Fine, we decided to eat and have a drink. To our dismay the bartender, Rosalie, was either having a bad day or just didn't want to wait on us. She wasn't very friendly at all, I would think that should be a requirement for someone working in the service industry. We had to constantly waive her down to get her attention every time we needed something, napkins, order food, drinks etc. Fine, she was busy, we get it. Our drinks were good and we mostly enjoyed our meal, except the omelet one of us ordered was runny- yuck! When we waived her down to let her know, she asked me for my opinion. Now, excuse me but I wasn't the one eating it nor am I the one who made the omelet so I'm not very sure what she was trying to accomplish there. He ate maybe 2-3 bites of his plate before it was sent back. Then the check came and surprisingly the omelet had been charged to us anyways. Fine, we paid it because at this point, we just wanted to avoid asking for help from Rosalie and get on with our golf game. Now, about that, we checked in at 11:25. We were told that we would receive a discount for the wait, I was charged $40 which was for 18 holes and the cart. We were only playing 9 so, I let him know and he corrected that. We were given a discount of $2...slightly insulting provided the experience leading up to this had left a lot to be desired. Ok, fine, whatever, we just wanted to get out and play so we all paid and headed out. Well, we waited approximately another hour at the 1st hole for the groups (apparently still the tourney teams) in front for us to tee off because the course was so backed up. We have been patient and understanding about this entire situation, there were people along the way that were inviting and provided the service they were hired for, like Dick. We chatted with him while we waited to tee off and he was very welcoming. Ok so now it's 12:30p, 2 hours after our original tee time. We are up to tee off when the arrogant group of men (there were 3 of us women and 1 male golfing with us) came up behind us and started making comments like "We've got the camera on you guys, everyone's gonna be watching" and others that made us feel very uncomfortable. We figured we would start playing and they would end up behind us so we wouldn't have to hear their rude comments. So, we teed off and went on with our game only to end up waiting 10-15 mins at each hole up to hole 4 which added another hour to our already 2 hour delay. We were having fun as a group and totally understood that the delay was due to the tournament and really that it was out of everyone's control. So, fast forward to hole 8 which by now everything was running pretty smoothly for us until, Dave, carted up to us and asked if we could be a little faster as we were slightly behind.....WHAT?! You've got to be kidding me, is what I was thinking- this was the icing on the cake for this entire experience. Apparently, the jerks behind us complained. The audacity after we just waited 2 hours plus at least another hour, patiently mind you. So, we finish up and head back to the clubhouse (2 hour game, typical for 9) to bring all this to the attention of the Assistant GM, whom was very nice and apologized for all that had happened which we were at least happy that he heard our complaints. Although it was clear that he didn't have authority to do much (we asked for a refund and were denied), he was accomodating with a rain check, except we never want to go back but he was trying to commensate us and we appreciated his efforts. In conclusion, we all live within 5-7 minutes of this course and would have loved the convenience of being able to play here more often had the experience been what we had hoped it would be, but we absolutely do not intend on playing here ever again.
