REVIEWS OF Paako Ridge Golf Club IN New Mexico

Bill Cates

Good course and service. The recent raise to a $200.00 rate assumes you want to eat breakfast and lunch there plus pound non-alcoholic drinks. Must need to support their food and beverage department and/or attract only the idle rich. I heard several other traveling golfers make similar comments.

Shane Simmons

Wow! What an experience all the way around. From the service the minute you arrive on property to the scenic views on almost every hole, no wonder this is NM's top ranked golf course. They do the little things right. Your golf bags are shuttled down to the staging area, each guest is welcomed and shuttled down to the golf shop from the parking lot, the outside staff makes you aware of where everything is located, and last but not least, the Head Pro even took us out to our starting hole and gave us some advice for how to approach the golf course. This is a must play if you are ever in the Albuquerque area.

Beautiful and challenging course. A few elevated tees that have a magnificent view and fun to hit off. A must play!

We attended a wedding here. The setting and mountain back drop were ideal. It's a small, homey club and environment.

Armando Contreras Jr

Larry Burks

Fantastic place! The food, golf course, staff all treated our group fantatic. The golf course was in great condition. The restaurant was excellent they even stayed open late for us after golf. We had great service from everyone. Obviously someone made a campaign against Paako for some reason as there are many poor reviews that hardly make sense. I would highly recommend this place.

Mike Brown

Very challenging course, well kept and lightening fast greens.

Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club is home to one of the top-rated and finest championship golf courses in New Mexico. This excellent 27-hole, tree-lined and open parkland layout contains a wealth of wonderfully crafted, memorable and challenging holes. Definitely a course that will challenge your all-round game, and well worth going out of your way to play.

Enrique M Montoya

Play there, and you feel touch of New Mexico

Had a fantastic working lunch on the patio today. Lobster and shrimp crepes with smoked gouda and spinach with a red pepper cream sauce. Great view, great friends & great food.!

Greedy new owners have ruined this gem

Devin Wilson

Best place to golf and get away from the noise of Albuquerque! Plus the green chili cheese burger is the best in the state!

If you are looking into golf, IGNORE every single one of the 1-star reviews here. Paa-Ko Ridge is one of the most beautiful and enjoyable courses I have ever played.

Chris Donnelly

Staff was terrific and the course was amazing

Luke Lien

Just had a golf vacation in NM and this course is far and away the favorite of the group. It has 27 holes, and we played 36 that day, repeating one through nine a second time. The course is definitely not short on challenge. The fairways can sometimes be tight and the elevation changes present unique challenges on almost every hole. Every aspect of the course from the practice areas to tees, fairways, traps and greens is fantastic. The views here are as good as any you will find in the area.

Rick Edwards

Beautiful Golf Course beautiful homes smiling staff just a great experience

Bernard Vaughan

This is a course you can enjoy playing many times and has an excellent staff.

Mark Guerrero

Discovered Paako by accident years ago when it was fairly new - fell in love with it from the start. A challenging test of golf due to mandatory carries from many tee boxes, lots of sand and undulating greens - but a joy to play with majestic views and natural beauty throughout the track. My favorite inland course !

Kevin Klein

Beautiful course. If you are not the best golfer, bring some extra balls as you will lose a few on this course. A little expensive to play here normally, luckily I played in a work tournament. If you are in Albuquerque, it is worth the drive up to play this nice course.

Fred Gintert

Great Golf Course and the service from the grill and golf shop was outstanding.

Muhamed Abdel-Hack

Beautiful golf course. Not a golfer but the scenery was great.

Salvador Lozano

Beautiful nature views! Top 2 golf courses in New Mexico

Note: East Coast guy here who had never played desert golf before this week. Unbelievably beautiful course. I had a blast playing here. It was tough to be sure and I had a rough time adjusting to the speed and the amount of slope on the greens. But the layout is spectacular with a lot of trouble everywhere. There are some small driving areas as well so be careful and play the correct tees. One par 3 has a four tiered, 100 yard long green. Just awesome. Be sure to play the tees labeled 6 and 7 on hole number 17. Their location is on the card they give you that shows the course layout. They are beyond the regular tee markers but the view is amazing. The range, putting green, and short game areas are all beautiful. The pro shop was simple and straight forward, but the staff was friendly and helpful. This place is well worth the drive around the mountain and the greens fees.

Terry Young

My family and I recently played 18 holes at Paa-Ko Ridge. What a wonderful golf course! It was a fantastic pleasure to play there. The course was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. If you love golf and haven't played Paa-Ko Ridge you've missed out on one of the nicest courses in the country. I can't say enough nice things. Do yourself a favor and play Paa-Ko Ridge the first opportunity you get. You won't be disappointed.

Chris Pino

Some of the best golf I have ever played. I have never scored that great there but the scenery and course conditions more than make up for it. I always prefer playing the original 18 and found the 19-27 a little cooky.

THIS ME

Beautiful course and would play here 2-3 times a year with previous owners. New owners jacked up the price and no discounted rates for twilight? What a joke! There are a lot of beautiful courses within an hours drive of Albuquerque with much better value!

Jaclyn Broderick

Beautiful!

Jason Griggs

One of my all-time favorites. Spectacular scenery and beautiful holes. Can't ask for anything more. An absolute destination course and a must play!!!

Jennifer Bohnhoff

Probably the nicest view in any restaurant, the food wasn't bad either.

Zach Fullerton

A really first class course in an incredible setting. I've played golf all over the country, and you ought to play this course. Not to be missed.

Ed Bachicha

Top notch course. Excellent staff.

Thomas P

Beautiful resort!! Every hole is like a calendar.

Ryan Toland

Great golf course with some spectacular views. Update: May 2018 Under new management...the sand in the bunkers were not raked... increase in price warrants raked bunkers. Green chile cheese burgers are not as good as they were in the past.

Erin Pike

Isaac Chilcote

Beautiful course and enjoyably challenging.

Best Course ever - even better, MUCH BETTER scenery than Augusta. Paa-KO is crazy AWESOME. And to those who gave 1 star I think you rated the wrong course - this is a golf course not a wedding venue and check out those 1 star folks, they only time they have a rating it is bad - so throw them out, this course should be 6 STARS our of 5:)

Thomas Duran

Mark Innes

Most picturesque course in New Mexico. Very good test of your golf game, plus great staff, cozy lounge for 19th hole activity...

Dwight Stephenson

This place is a very high quality course. Yes the green fees seem expensive but if you take advantage of the discounts you can get a good deal. Costco sells $100 giftcards for $82. One round of golf is about $90. If you play twice the third round is free. So really you are paying about $40 per round. Under 16 plays free with a payong adult and the senior rate is like $60.

Kenny Smith

Course is amazing!! Staff not very friendly particularly the woman behind the counter..135 dollars for no cart girl and rude service

Michael Metz

I love this golf course. It is very expensive so I can't play there often but when I do I love it.

Nicholas Baca

I use to love coming to Paa-Ko to play a few rounds a year. Under new ownership and have let the fairways dry out and have raised the prices considerably. They took away the Costco deal as well and currently charge $40 to use their facilities (Chip, Putt, Hit balls) and $135/ round IF you are not a Paa-ko Communities resident. Tony Alvarez and Bryan Marsal (new owners) are going to put this place out of business if they dont price this course correctly. There are better options around the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area that cost a fraction of the price. It will be interesting to see the fate of this golf course.

Seth Ward

Beautiful course. Incredibly difficult unless you are a really, really good golfer. Bring lots of balls, and don't expect the sand traps to be sand. They are hard pan. Also, don't expect a cart person for any type of drinks while you are out there. We didn't see one all day.

sibina henderson

They have a new chef and cooking team and its great! I just had Sunday breakfast this morning and would recommend it. I hope others in the East Mountains will support this Grill- we need to keep it open for dinner too.

Daniel Weems

Challenging course with beautiful views and tasty New Mexican food at the restaurant.

Course is in fabulous condition. Great round. Not overbooked, not crowded. Excellent and friendly staff.

Steven Wilson

The course wasn’t bad but the caliber of people working there were appalling and here’s why. A middle aged man was pushing his very elderly father in a wheelchair by the 18th green. They were on the sidewalk so they were in no way damaging the course and they weren’t even talking so in no way were they disruptive. The starter came flying over on his golf cart to rudely tell the man and his father they were trespassing and to leave the golf course immediately! The man said his father was to old to play but still enjoyed just being near the course, to which the starter responded he would call security if they didn’t leave immediately. I’ve worked on golf courses before and while legally this starter was in the right, morally this place disgust me and we will never return. (This happened over a year ago but I just noticed my comment had been deleted so I wanted to let it be known again).

William Sullivan

I played there today and the course and surrounding scenery is spectacular. The staff was friendly and helpful but I was shocked at their rates!! $200 per player mid week!! Their price is way, way out of line for the New Mexico market. I bet that they will experience a 60% percent decline in rounds played! When they told me the rate I thought it was for 2 players. If my wife had not been with me to just ride and look at the views I was walking out of there! So buyer beware this place is way out line for their market!

Rory Smith

Pros: Awesome course with incredible scenery. The best that I have played in NM for sure. The original #4 has an incredible green complex that is about 80 yards long. Cons: I first visited Paako Ridge in 2014 and the rates were reasonable ($110/round). Apparently, new owners have decided to try and exploit the travelling golfer and charge upwards of $200/round. So a 36 hole day is more than $300. I'm sure the local constituents are upset. Now, instead of coming back, I will likely look to visiting other places on my bucket list (IE: Bandon Dunes, Pinehurst).

Eric Tom

A very nice golf course and very challenging. Lots of elevation changes and the golf course was well-maintained. Can't quite give it 5 stars as I thought a couple of the greens were a little over the top with huge undulations in some and when putting from above the hole, twice I putted entirely off the green as there was just no way to stop the ball near the hole. Overall, a very positive experience though.

Beautiful course. Fast greens

No that the golf course has doubled it's green fees! I think everyone from New Mexico should boycott Paa-ko Ridge! Really sad, my favorite course in the state. Corporate Greed at its best!!!

Was finally able to play here after years of trying when visiting family. Was worth the wait. A bit difficult for the casual golfer but absolutely beautiful.

Darren Boe

I've been on three golf trips to Paa-Ko Ridge over the last several years. The course remains one of my favorite courses in the country. Other than the sand traps (some are decent but many are packed down with small gravel and almost unplayable), the course is always in great condition. That being said, I'm afraid the new owners are going to drive this place out of business. The rates have gone up significantly, and there are no twilight or otherwise discounted rates. As a result, the course is almost empty, especially in the afternoons. At this rate, I don't see this course staying in business for long. To me, a course as good as this, if priced correctly, should be busy every day. It's a shame to see this happen to an otherwise great course. I'd be less likely to return for a future trip, and I suspect that many other customers will decide the same thing.

Extremely disappointed with the fact the new ownership doubled the green fees! Plenty of beautiful golf courses in our state, lost a loyal customer that’s for sure!

Brandon Peters

One of the best golf courses I've ever been too. Tough and beautiful

Chris Lovato

My wife and I played on Father's day. It was the only course not busy in Albuquerque and we've been wanting to play this course again. We played it several years ago. The staff was informative and set us up with the course rules. Very nice people at the clubhouse. Played 10 thru 18, then 19 thru 27. There is a reason that this course is number 1 in NM. ITS TOUGH!! It's very much like a links course. No level ground to take a shot from. Danger around every corner. You have to play accurate. The course it set up beautifully. After playing a round there, you really feel it! We had dinner there and the food was fantastic. The bartender and the waitress were great. If you want to really enjoy a day of golf, play PaaKo. Can't wait to play there again! To everyone at PaaKo, Thank you for a memorable Father's Day.

Crystal Otero

There are some easy trails to follow as well as more difficult ones for more adventurous hikers.

Lonnie Kron

Great Day

Rated a top 100 course and I can see why. Great layout and well conditioned for the time of year as well. Beautiful views all over the course and most of the time you feel like it's just golf and you're alone up in the mountains.

Beautiful mountain course minutes from the city!

Great golf course with beautiful views

Chris Garnache

My absolute favorite course. You can't beat the views, not to mention it's amazing to get away from the sounds of the city. Paako will test the skills of any golfer.

David Freeman

What an incredible golf course! We where there for a long weekend the staff was great and the golf course was one of the best I have ever played. Thanks Paa Ko for a great time.

Seems like someone had a bad wedding a few weeks ago and decided to drive down the ratings for revenge. Hope their marriage counselor gets better reviews when she can't save their terrible marriage because they are so spiteful. But on another subject, it's a great golf course.

The course was awesome greenest I've ever seen it.

Paako Ridge Golf Course is AMAZING. My husband and I got married there in July, 2016. We love playing the course, and had an absolute dream wedding there. I would highly recommend the course to play or as an event venue! The restaurant is also amazing. I go out of my way to get Jamie's breakfast burritos in the morning because they are THAT good. The staff makes you feel like family, and they all are very professional.

William Molina

Robin Dixon

Beautiful surroundings, challenging course. It's long and you need to keep it on the fairways. Bunkers are deep and there is very little sand o them (leave the sand wedge in your bag and use something with less bounce.

Jason Tankersley

Beautiful, challenging golf course.

Kate Nguyen

The burgers were good. My husband got the tacos and they fell apart. They should have doubled up the taco shells. I do have a problem with the Golf Club wasting so much water. This is dry NM, you don't need to waste all that water on all that green grass and the useless pond.

Lori Elias

absolutely love it up there so beautiful and the food at the grill is amazing..out of this world delicious!!

Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club is one of the best places to have your wedding or special event! Their care and attention to detail is so impressive and their staff is so kind, helpful and attentive. If you're looking for a picturesque place that reminds one of a fairy tale, be sure to book your wedding at Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club. You'll be glad you did!!!

Mark Waggener

Living in Albuquerque, I used to play this course around 5-6 times a year, at least one of those rounds with a group of out-of-state friends. The course is spectacular, and although the course was pricey by local standards, the 3 for 2 deal made the pill easier to swallow, particularly for such an excellent course. Well, no longer. Since the club was acquired by the Alvarez & Marsal Investment group of New York City, the green fees have skyrocketed and there is no longer a reward for frequent play, or even a discount for twilight play. This firm has priced their course out of the reach of most local golfers. Given that there are several exceptional courses (Sandia Resort, Twin Warriors, and UNM Championship) that nearer to Albuquerque and have green fees that are at least $50 less expensive then Paako Ridge, I am sad to say neither myself or any of my friends plan on playing this course again at the current rates. Shame on the new owners!
