This is a terrific golf course! Each hole is different. The greens were very good even though they had been sanded and punched two days prior to our play. Very challenging course but fair. Excellent shape. Nice clubhouse and restaurant. Very friendly staff. Better than Paako Ridge at 37% of the price. The only negative were the dirt cart paths. This course is a hidden gem.

Very special and I’ve played golf everywhere. Bring extra balls. Must have some skill or play close tees. Not easy. Very very pretty. Worth the trip. Cooler than pebble. Unusual and amazing.

We heard last year that the conditions at the course weren't so good. Well, not to worry anymore. The course was in premium condition when I played it this week. Though a very challenging course, it's well worth losing a few balls just to experience the challenge and the beauty of Black Mesa. My sincere compliments to the maintenance staff and management.

Thought I would never play here again but a fellow golfer said they had fixed the course. Glad I listened. The course was ten times better this time. It is a great lay out and the greens and fairways are in great shape. I will be back.

I had a great time Everytime I came here. very friendly staff in Pro Shop helpful as well not a pro golfer just an beginner so don't know really what to expect with the green and sand pits but it looked well maintenance to me the only downside is they need to update their times on Google Maps and also maybe let the casino hotel know when they are open this morning I call the front desk they said they were open looked at Google Maps also said it was open so we bought things packed up and got there it was closed very disappointed

Black Mesa is one fun and challenging course!! From tee to green on every hole you must keep your concentration on point. Any shot off the fairways is goi g to penalize you. I suggest if its your first time, download any of the various apps that provide an Overhead view in detail so you can see whats over the hill. The course is in great shape too.carpet fairways snd speedy greens.

Do not believe the pics you see! This course is in deplorable condition! The fairways are junk with very little grass and what is there is burned out. The traps have nothing but hard dirt and standing water. Notice on the door said they had a washout but the condition tells me otherwise. Everything points to a complete lack of care. Sprinkler covers broken all over the course, cart paths like rock crawling, and, despite the claim of washout, nobody was working on the sprinkler system to even fix or replace the broken covers. Even at $42 this course was NOT worth the price. While the views are great, which is the only reason for the 2 stars, the course itself is in abysmal condition!! You can get views in many places, this is NOT a place to play golf.

Nice people, marginal layout, very poor conditioning. They had just punched and sanded the greens so I can't review them but they looked nice. This is a target golf course with NO directions on where to hit the ball! From the forward tees you might get a peek where you are going otherwise - good luck! Being a 10 handicap I tried my best but got frustrated in trying to figure out where to play the tee shots. Conditioning was very bad, Sand traps had weeds and grass growing in them, the fairways were spotty at best. Someone had a good idea on the design but it got lost in the lack of maintenance. Play at your own ($) risk.

Great course built upon the natural beauty of New Mexico and the local region. They do a great job with water conservation and make the most with the high desert climate. The course is in really great condition and seems to be doing better than in previous years. I would highly recommend!

My wife and I have been to Black Mesa several times over this past decade. I can honestly say that it is back! It is one of the best courses in New Mexico. The weeds are gone, the fairways are green, the tee boxes are manicured, the greens are soft and incredibly difficult. The course is once again a joy to play on. Thanks to everyone involved in making it a wonderful place to play again. The people that work there are happy to assist and get us going. Can't wait to go play there again.

I played here today and loved it! The course is a serious challenge from any tee box. This is a high desert mountain style course with a lot of elevation change, very rolling terrain, adventurous tee and approach shots. The course is in excellent shape and the greens are simply divine!! The tee boxes and fairways are in great shape and beautiful. You had better hit your targets because you will probably lose your ball if you don’t! I will come back on future trips!

I liked the course but my wife hated it. Not real user friendly for higher handicap golfers. It was very challenging and the greens were excellent. Fairways weren't quite as manicured though with lots of weeds. I'd heard positive things about this course from friends, so to me, it was a bit overrated. No asphalt or concrete in the parking lot or around the entire golf course on the all dirt cart paths. Some of the tees and greens were difficult to get to. Overpriced, if you ask me. There are better values at Paa-Ko Ridge, Twin Warriors and Cochiti Golf Courses in the area.

Highly recommended. It is a special course. Very challenging and rewarding course. Customer service was excellent. We love Cochiti golf but Black Mesa is just as excellent now. We will be back.

Poor conditions , weeds and daisies in the fairways. No directional aids. Dried mud in fairway and green side bunkers. Many many blind tee shots, 2nd shots to the greens. Better courses nearby. Big deception with the photo on the web site. That is a very old photo. This could be good if they took care of it. They didn’t even have drinking water on the course, and it gets 90 degrees in the afternoon

Played in early November. Probably should have gone to Paako or Twin Warriors or Sandia. No cafe or snack bar open, and the pro shop guy says "welcome to winter golf in New Mexico". It was 60 degrees that day. Also, no cart girl. Then when I asked if I could fill my water bottle at the turn, he directed me to the bathroom sink. Driving range lacked very many balls. Dusty cart paths only. Beautiful views. For an indian course, I would have expected greener. Nice greens. Very challenging course. Amazing views.

Very challenging and fun course. Was in pretty good shape. The greens rolled smooth and semi fast. I do like fast greens. The staff and grill help were very friendly. From other reviews I took 2 dozen balls, but only lost 1 sleeve on my first round. (Must have brought my "A" game) I definitely can see why this course could eat your ball's up. Will definitely plan another outing there. Should be on your play list if your in the area.

Wonderful golf course. Lot of undulations and tricky greens but sooo fun. Only complaint is the cart path is rough. Very friendly and helpful Pro shop and grill. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Great track. Unbelievable views and good condition. Takes plenty of creativity. Btw Ed (other review) probably played the wrong tees. Pretty high slope so make sure you play the correct tees for your handicap and use the pro tips on the GPS.

Absolutely a must play! Course is in great shape, true-rolling greens, and with 5 sets of tees, as much fun and/or challenge as you wish to take on. Staff are all top hands, courteous and helpful. Overall, Black Mesa is hidden gem, worth the miles and time out of your way to get there. If you are a golfer, don't miss a chance to play this course!
