Now as caddy it is a rough way to make a living. This is great to able to get a call from here when your home course is slow from experience I made a good money during outings not much play other times only outings which is cool. Recommend outings but haven't been there in years

Beautiful private golf course. Offers a challenging golf layout with many blind holes and undulated greens.

Kevin Casey

One of the most enjoyable golf courses in the region. 18 holes of quality Charles Banks, with great conditioning, wonderful routing and variety, and a great staff. A treat every time I play.

Rock Spring is the most amazing place I have ever gone. I have been here so long and have soo many memories! It’s like my second home and to me it’s impossible to let go of everything that I have ever done there. I’m so sad it’s closing, it will never be the same without it. I’m gonna miss you RSC

Montclair Golf Club at Rock Springs (aka The New Course, aka The Rock) is the sister course to Montclair Golf Club (aka The Old Course). It's a single 18 hole course (versus Montclair's 4 Nines). It's in great condition and rarely crowded. It often feels as though you have the course to yourself. Very nice pool built alongside a pretty pond which daily serves as a nice backdrop for beautiful sunsets. The course is built atop a ridge overlooking the NYC skyline. While I don't think there are any wholly unobstructed views of the skyline from the course/clubhouse (for now), you can definitely see cool views of the city from specific points on the course and around the clubhouse. Membership is included with a membership to Montclair (54 holes in total) which seems like a tremendous deal if you live in the area and like to play. The driving range is left wanting, so utilizing Montclair's is usually preferable. The food at both Rock Spring and Montclair is great. There are also paddle tennis courts and regular tennis courts at both locations.

Great course which has recently gone public. Had the pleasure of playing it for the first time yesterday and the greens were in excellent condition and I really enjoyed the layout. Kemper Sports which now manages the course also manages Heron Glen in NJ which is an immaculate public course. Great to see this course being opened to the public and hope to see it continue to develop and improve!

SO MUCH POTENTIAL! A Public Raynor! Let's give the Kemper Sports team some time, and pray to god that the city doesn't ruin this course or shut it down. Better scorecards, yardage markers, all of that is needed... eventually. Tee boxes are rough and drainage needs some work at some of the low points, but it looked like some better golf cart etiquette by the customers would help with that too (also, just walk, it's better). But... you can't replicate the layout. Punchbowl on 1, 3rd is a great redan, NYC sight-lines, 4/5 are long par 4's with massive greens for run-up shots (4 is a double-plateau), 10-14 on the back are all beautifully laid out and alternate between short and long. The par 3's have severe mounding and earth-work; bunkering is classic Raynor, it's all there. Loved 10/12/18 on the back- all short par 4's with challenging green complexes. If you've read about Seth Raynor or golden age architecture, go play it (it's public!) and enjoy the strategy. If you haven't - do yourself a favor and grab a book or do some research and then head out there; it will only add to the occasion and help your understanding of the course. Let's hope they can keep this moving in the right direction, it's a real gem.

Played for first time this week- beautiful course. Seth Raynor layout on a fantastic property. Due to the rain and the transition the course condition is a bit of a work in process, but I am beyond thrilled to have this local public golf option. My new favorite local course.

This tract needs to be taken care of. Sand traps with no sand, some sand traps with grass growing through the sand. This could be a gem. Not now. Played in June 2019

My grandparents, Stark and Elsa Newberry, were members and lived next door to the club. We used to go swimming here in the 1960s and early 1970s. Fun times!

Newly public course in North Jersey. This is a classic layout that is very enjoyable to play. Currently the course is in extremely rough condition. It is very wet with irrigation issues and the rough is like 10 inches. Unplayable. I am very interested to see where things are mid summer. The layout is 5 stars conditions about 1. Excited for this classic course to be open to the public though. I will be back soon.

Rock Spring Golf Course welcomed my LPGA Amateur League with open arms. Everyone at the course was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The fairways and greens were in great shape- you can tell that it was a well maintained course. My group had dinner and drinks after the round and the grill room was beautiful. Large windows that overlooked 1 and 18. Everyone enjoyed the dinners and they had a nice selection of wines. I will def be back! What a GEM

An extension of my home and the most beautiful piece of property in Essex County. I have been a member here for many years and RSC has provided me with so many wonderful memories. Its a shame that MGC is selling the course. RSC, you will be greatly missed.
