A club grille. Period. Outside is only for the view. Ambience is not their specialty. Menu is reasonably diverse. My hosts enjoyed their selections, but they're not Foodies. I went for their company and conversation- which refreshingly, I could hear.

I've played many courses and NJ National is my favorite! Course lay out is great and always well maintained. Make sure you stop into the Red Oak Grill for some good food and drinks.

NJN is a top tier golf course. I have played it several times and find it to be challenging but yet fair. Whenever I played, the fairways and greens were in great shape. The rough is very lush and consistent. The Red Oak Grill is a great spot after the round. I highly recommend the course.

I found the course to be in excellent condition and extremely challenging to play. The elevated greens made the shots to the greens very interesting. The rough could have been a little easier as we spent considerable time looking for our ball. The cart paths do need some work as there were many pot holes throughout.

Our dinning experience was great. The food and desserts are great. Nice elegant space with out door seating. They serve a variety of wine and liquor. The 4 stars is for our dinning experience.

Keep in mind that if you join the club you will probably never see any part of your membership fees back. I am still owed $9000 from a resignation in 2007 so I would not recommend joining this club

I was a member there for a few years. The course layout is a good test of golf. You can play a mellow course from the whites, a testy course from the blues and an absolute beast from the blacks The front nine is fairly gentle while the back nine is much more difficult. One thing I didn't like about the front nine is that the two par 3's are essentially the same hole....120-160 yard steep downhill shot. The facilities are adequate and the food is excellent, especially their signature burgers. Now for the bad news. There were some incidents there that were simply intolerable: 1. My locker was broken into and shoes stolen. The pro shop would not sell me a pair of shoes at their cost. 2. I took a prominent exec out for a round of golf on a Tuesday morning at 8:00 AM as he wasn't a good golfer and we wanted to avoid holding other groups up. Despite the course being nearly vacant, after finishing up the front nine, the starter admonished me for being behind on pace, and this was within audible range of the exec. That surely made him feel good. The starter could have pulled me aside and asked us to speed things up. 3. The course condition was deteriorating. On a hot August day, the grounds crew had a massive sprinkler hose arching a huge stream of water straight into a greenside bunker. A torrent of water and sand was pouring out of the bunker across the cart path and we had to drive to the opposite side of the fairway and go behind the green to avoid the flood. What was the point of that? 4. Their green aeration was terrible. When a green is aerated, most courses top dress with a generous layer of sand to fill the plug holes. Nope, NJN simply aerated the greens, didn't apply sand and the putting surfaces took forever to heal. Reports from folks that are still members indicate that things are much improved in recent years. If that is truly the case, I would consider re-joining as it is a very enjoyable golf course that is convenient to major highways. The negatives I referred to are things that could be fixed at the drop of a hat.

Had a very enjoyable day at New Jersey National. The layout of the course is spectacular, greens were perfect and fairways in great shape. If there was one minor negative I thought the sand traps could use a little more loose sand. We ate in the club house bar. Food was good and service was wonderful. Lastly, the employees were really responsive and made our day even better. I look forward to possibly playing NJ National again in the future. Possibly as a member.

The food was good and the service was real efficient. The golf course was an awesome backdrop for our window view. I lived around the corner from Red Oak in the Hills and the whole area was affluent but very down to earth, if that's possible. My mother in law is still in that area, good enough reason to visit.

We go here to go to the Red Oak Grille. You can either dine in or order ahead of time and take out your food to eat at home as we often do. Their burgers are absolutely juicy, mouth watering and delicious! Of course, if you are a golfer, you can join the club for a chunk of change and play to your heart's content. I understand it is a phenomenon golf course!
