An old standby for the Morris County Parks courses, there are 36 holes so there's hardly ever a wait. We'll kept overall.

Dario Fenimore

Sections of the course are a little out of shape, but with 4 different 9s and a reasonable price, its easy to look beyond that.

Ranger Bill tried his best to move the people along but had couple slow groups.

All NJ golf courses are just, "okay." You take an hour drive (sometimes only an extra 30 minutes) to get to an NY or PA course and you'll be glad you did. The courses there are just better. NJ is not built for golf. For NJ courses this place is good. I've been here multiple times over the years and they're never over crowed they're friendly to newbies and when I go and join up with other groups they're usually cool (sometimes a little weird) or take it a bit too seriously but you'll get that anywhere. It's a bigger course than Pinch Brook so I would go to Pinch Brook first to get your bearings and then upgrade to this course but yeah it's a lot of fun. Great views and sometimes you'll spot fish in the lakes.

I thought I'd write a current review since most of what I have read about Flanders is 5-8 years old. I don't like saying this, since it's my tax dollars at work here, but Flanders has declined in recent years overall. I would have considered it a 5-star track in the past and it was one of Golf Digest's top 100 public courses, but that was a long time ago. The layouts of both courses (Red/Gold & White/Blue) have remained the same of course, but turf maintenance has declined significantly. Greens are often bumpy, some tees are barren of grass and a couple of years ago lack of thatch removal resulted in the loss of grass on several fairways, which have since been reseeded but is symptomatic of why Flanders isn't what it once was. Still, both courses remain challenging for all levels of player, especially from the tips . The front nines of each are relatively flat with wide open fairways while the back nines are hillier and require a bit more precision and thought on all shots. You will find that you will pretty much need all the clubs in your bag which is a testament to the architects, Hal Purdy and Rees Jones. Edit: 10/2017. In the 4 years since I posted the above review, Billy Casper Golf has taken over management of the course and things are vastly improved. Greens and fairways are once again in excellent, almost country club like condition. Another change that was made - they reversed the nines on both courses. The hilly nines are on the front and the flat nines are the back. This is because the starter shed has been converted into an outdoor "Tiki Bar" with beer and barbecued burgers and hotdogs and now when you're finished with your round you have to walk right by and it's hard to resist. Note to management: When you make 1" diameter hotdogs (which are pretty good) you need to put them into nice thick potato bread buns and not the crummy 99 cent/dozen standard buns you're providing currently.

Beautiful scenery and courses. Lots of bugs though bring your repellent

Nice course for a public course that is reasonably priced for county residents. Tee boxes are somewhat scrappy and cart paths are in poor condition, but fairways and greens are pretty OK, and course design is nice.

Great course! Hopefully they will reduced their fees.

Steve Ward

Under new management and greatly improved. Two challenging 18 hole courses.

Love to play here; courses are well maintained and look spectacular in the fall. Staff is helpful and starters are friendly. The only thing I would suggest is that pace of play be sped up on busy weekend. Saw high handicappers tee off from the blue and that slowed play unnecessarily.

Terrible experience, lied to about refund after driving 45 minutes to course to cancel in person. Was told different stories on the phone for several weeks you can add golf now as just as bad to deal with...stear clear course is a horror.

JULY 4TH 2016!!! Mr. Bugner may have had a bad experience, but calling FLANDERS a horror is like calling Jordan Speith a duffer! To have 36 holes of golf on two well maintained, challenging but fair Municipal golf courses is simply a bonus for Morris County residents and guests. Have played Flanders on and off for 20 plus years and many times the last three years. Without question, the two 18 hole layouts have improved continuously and significantly since BILLY CASPER GOLF took over the courses. Blue to White is simply beautiful and fair to play; Red to Gold as well, but with more up and down-- hills. These are fun layouts with some narrow fairways, some water and creeks, and some bunkers all fairly placed for a challenging experience. It's not Baltusrol, but it also doesn't cost thousands to play here. As a matter of fact, having played a number of Municipal courses in Rockland and Orange Counties (NY), Somerset in NJ, and most recently two courses in Palm Beach County and Boyntan Bay in Florida, it is safe to say, FLANDERS is as good--if not better-- then most Municipal tracks you will find anywhere. The greens on a scale from 1-10 are an 8+ Remember, these are Municipal courses!!!! They take a lot of abuse, but they are maintained very well. Tees are a bit battered in a few cases but fine. Greens -as noted- are consistent and relatively challenging with a true, smooth roll in most instances. Traps are generally soft, fluffy, and placed in strategic locations. If there are issues with the courses, they are minor. There should be better direction markers from green to next tee. I would like to see arrows painted right on cart path. Also, there should be a few more water coolers on both layouts. Other then that, it's a lot of bang for your buck! How does $18 green fees after hours where one can easily get 18 holes in before sundown. The guys who work there are fine. Mostly retired gentlemen, thoughtful, and helpful if help is needed. Mr. Burgner may have had an issue... that's always possible, but the 36 hole layout is a Morris County gem, the staff is fine, the ambiance is excellent, and the drinks girls are sweet and helpful. Even when the Ranger asks players to pick up the pace, he does it without being rude or grating. If you haven't played here in the last two or three years, give it a try, you will be amazed at the transformation. Finally ... nice outdoor bar with ample brews and snacks, two putting greens, and one chipping area. Only thing missing is a driving range. If you live in Morris County, get a Golf card and get discounts, online tee times, and and you will be in for a pleasant surprise. The only" horror" on these courses is my scorecard!!! Enjoy! PS: Mr. Bugner meant "steer" clear, not "stear" clear.... just saying (:

Great course for public courses in NJ Flanders Valley is a favorite of mine. The courses are challenging and beautiful The all staff is friendly and could not be more helpful. Over the past few years the golf superintendent has worked great job! I love this place and I always appreciate the help and kindness of all the staff.

Flanders Valley is a favorite of mine. The courses are challenging and beautifully designed. Over the past few years the golf superintendent has worked to "open up" the areas around a few of the holes which has helped keep the putting surfaces consistent and in good shape. The staff is friendly and could not be more helpful. This is a true "best value" for a Morris County resident.

$81 to ride is criminal for this course. Not worth the money especially when you have greens that are jacked up and fairways that have dead spots.

I played White to Blue on a regular basis, until recently and just want to say that I hope the new management team maintains the course better than the county has done. Espically the sand traps if that's what you want to call them. The lack of sand is like hitting off of cement, it's absolutely horriable. It's a shame what's become of a once beautiful golf course. Try Farmstead, unless you want to experience whats it's like hitting a ball on the Moon.

Deacon Pladek

What a fabulous Golf Course great view of the mountains in the distance lots of trees and shade and a challenging course

Bob Buhowski

Nice course and if you get a deal on the green fee, well worth giving it a play. Gold is probably the nicest to play, but with 36 holes it has a bunch to offer.
