1 STAR IS WAY TOO MANY!!!! First we paid a hefty green fee in order to fulfill our family golf fix and create unforgettable memories. The 4 of us started on our golf voyage crushing 300 yd drives down the middle and on pace of setting personal best scores. Then our buzz was killed when we had the Field Marshall following us throughout the course insisting that we rush our shots to increase the pace of play. Meanwhile THERE WAS NO ONE BEHIND US! After we teed off on the 11th hole, we were told to pick up our golf balls and "take a par". We all refused seeing that we paid good money to golf here. He then THREATENED us and said that if we didnt play faster, we would be kicked off the course. The Field Marshall then had the audacity to thank us on the 16th hole for playing faster when we didn't change a thing and once again there was not a single sole behind us. If you want to have a 65 yr old creepy old man following you around on his golf cart rushing your shots, then this is the course for you! Otherwise spend your hard earned money elsewhere

Our group of usually 30 golfers have been playing Avalon for over 20 years, the people are great, especially Ted who is the pro, and his staff as well as the restaurant and staff, where the food is excellent. The course is always in excellent condition, I highly recommend Avalon.

Takes way too long to play such a terrible golf course. I’d give it 0 stars if possible. I seriously doubt the greens have ever been rolled. If you are into golf and are looking for a decent course to play at the shore...look somewhere else

We were there for a wedding, and the hors d'oeuvres were much better than the actual dinner food. It was buffet style, and some of the food was getting cold by the time we got it. Over all it was good food. The layout in the banquet hall was a little awkward too, it felt like two separate rooms, but they did a good job with the space they have.

My husband and I got married at the Avalon Golf Club on May 12, 2018. We booked the venue about a year and a few months in advance. When we visited the Avalon Golf Club for the first time, we absolutely fell in love with the entire venue - the patio, the main restaurant room, the overall vibe that we got from the staff, and of course, Dawn, the coordinator, who helped us tremendously through every step of the way! We visited at least 8 other venues in our search to find the perfect place, and the Avalon Golf Club was what we found to be, exactly what we were hoping to find and we were certainly not disappointed with any aspect of that choice. Dawn is amazing and was always available to answer questions and offer advice. The price for the packages are very reasonable and were affordable for us. A lot of people say that their wedding day is the best day of their lives, and I truly believe that Nick and I can say that our wedding day was the best day ever and we wouldn't have chosen any other place than the Avalon Golf Club. In fact, we went back a week later for lunch (which was delicious) and to see the space that we love so much and relive the night (and also got to talk to some of the waiters that served at our wedding!!). All of our guests commented on how amazing the food was!! Such a great place and great people!

The Avalon Links is well known and acclaimed in golfing circles and I won't add anything regarding the course. Come see! I will however have to say that the food was impressive especially since it was presented buffet style. Too frequently what's served at the big room affairs is not what you would expect being served in the dining room. Veal parmesan, gloriously prepared white fish and roast beef entres were served with a salad, mashed potatoes, and string beans & mushrooms. Rolls, butter and toppings too! I heard nothing but positive comments about the food. I'll be going back to sample their dinner menu very soon!

Great club to play. Accessible to the public but when you’re there you would think it’s a private. Everything from a well stocked pro shop to amenities cart, bag drop services. Truly worth every penny to play the course. It is very well maintained and a challenging but fun course to play. I also recommend staying for lunch and dinner as the restaurant runs just as great as the course. I will definitely be back!

As far as the resturaunt..They usually have an entertainer playing keyboard on Saturday night. We were there this Saturday and a wedding was going on in the back room..no keyboardist. They left the door open between the resturaunt and the back room. The rap music was too loud.... Everyone complaining...wont be back!

Very pricey. They were mowing and running the sprinklers while we were playing! There are patches of flat sand that are not bunkers everywhere. Not impressed. I got the impression that they feel like you don't have any other options so they can charge you whatever they want.

Course is in bad shape. Update: Course has improved (especially the greens). I’ve played here over 20 times and have seen it in great shape and in horrible shape. I guess that it is a work in progress which I would expect. In my opinion they do overbook, and I wish they wouldn’t. If it is a nice day, you will be waiting, but at least we’re playing.

Nice course, staff and clubhouse were good. Disappointed in the condition of the tee boxes. Grass was high, clumpy and uneven. Never had this problem here before.

Nice course except for some holes where trees reach into the fairway thus penalizing you. Hole ten, had the green practically under the tree for pin placements, many approach shots in our group hit tree. I've never seen that before but, be prepared. For $94.00, this course should be in much better condition.

The Avalon golf club is a great club with a good variety of holes and some challenging features. The golf cart attendants were very nice and helped us with saving some money on rentals. The course is nice and goes through some well landscaped parts and oddly some town houses. The only issue is the people who take forever ahead of you and the ones behind you creeping up on you. Still a great course, especially on a nice day.
