Course is always in GREAT shape, tight but quite a challenge from the back tees. Great risk reward course from Blue and White tees. Only public driving range (Aqua) in the Metro area.

It is the best golf course around. Reasonably priced, great service, excellent facility.

The course was in great shape this time of year for a municipal course. It felt like a real refuge which was neat.

Flew into JAN and was on the course 10 minutes after picking up the rental car. Staff (Tom) was very friendly, enjoyed our short chat and he gave me some clues to the course. Now there is lots of water on this track and it would behoove you to have a GPS or get an extra scorecard to review each hole before you start, as there are many blind shots that water is in play with the club you may normally hit for the distance. It was cart path only due to the large amount of rain they had been getting there lately but the course was in excellent shape. They have a nice practice facility and a few very short holes/tees that only young kids are allowed to play. Cudoes to The Refuge for promoting the game for kids. I will be back for work next year and will certainly be back for another go at The Refuge...though it's gonna be tough to beat the 74 I shot on Monday!!

nice course. well maintained. however way overpriced. I just moved in from dallas where my local muni was in great shape and carts had gps all for $30. pearl muni is a good alternative. it has some of the same challenges. you cant just go driver every hole. plus it is about $20 cheaper

The course is usually in good shape. Although relatively short, the course puts a very high premium on accuracy. If you are spraying the ball, expect to lose quite a few. Negatives: the course doesn't return to the club house after nine holes. In fact, numbers 9 and 10 are about as far from the club house as you can get. This makes playing only 9 holes difficult. In fact, I had one of the staff tell me that just playing 9 couldn't be done. I assume he meant I would have to pay for 18 in order to play just 9. Other negatives: carts are not allowed in the parking lot. This is one of the few course I have seen with this rule. Other courses seem to be able to allow carts in the parking lot with no problems. Also, and this would make me laugh if it wasn't so block-headed; the water coolers have signs prohibiting filling up water bottles to "save the water for other golfers." It the heat of the summer in Mississippi a LOT of water is required to avoid dehydration and heat stroke. The course should be committed to keeping water in the dispensers no matter how often they need to be filled.

Best purely public course in the State

Course was in good shape. Called the Pro Shop before coming over to check if I could get out and they didn't sound all that friendly because you had to get out before 6pm. I walked nine holes and the Pro was helpful giving me a few tips since I had never played the course before. Be warned, the 9th Hole does not come back to the clubhouse and ends at the furthest place on the property from the clubhouse. But the staff encourages you to play a few holes in to get back to the clubhouse so you really get a 13 hole rate. It's a short golf course and it all about positioning off the tee. Nice course I would play it again.

Shequita Townsend

Local golf course. Very nice. Good customer service.

Harry Sharp

Great golf course. Well maintained. Biggest complaint is you can't take the cart to the parking lot

Steve Weiss

Very clean, well kept. A little pricey. Be accurate or get wet. Groupons are out frequently. Great scenery!

Tom Newman

Challenging course. Water everywhere. If you can score here, you can play anywhere.
