Nice layout and reasonable rents

First off, I put in not one, not two, but six maintenance requests for my dishwasher to be fixed because it wasn’t cleaning the dishes and there was standing BLACK water in the bottom. Second, there were bugs: ants, cockroaches, and spiders. Third, water damage in the ceiling that they merely PAINTED over and didn’t fix. So thankful to be out of that place. The cost of rent does not match the apartments size, appearance, or the maintenance abilities of this complex.

This place is wonderful! I have ABSOLUTELY NO complaints. I’ve lived here since July, and I can not imagine staying anywhere else. It’s so peaceful and very nice compared to most places in Starkville. The golf course is beautiful, and you see many deer. They have a full size gym, and a very large pool! They also have a business office that allows for faxing and free printing for residents. My only complaint is that the light bill is a little pricey, but that is not exactly their fault. MaxxSouth is the best internet I’ve had compared to what I use to have. The connection never gives me problems. Everyone here is super nice. I find mainly adults live here, so it’s very quiet. No loud music or partying hardly ever happens.

As a resident having lived there for three years, I am very disappointed with the end of the story as a resident of the Links, Starkville. To summarize: 1. Do not expect they would return much of your deposit regardless of the conditions of the apartment, if they would not ask for more. 2. You can always hear your neighbors, and make yourself heard, too. 3. For the internet and cable, your only choice is MaxxSouth, the worst and most expensive one in town. No DirectTV or dish, they ban that, too. 4. If you'd like to get out of the lease, the minimum amount you may lose is THREE MONTHS RENTS! 5. Endless ants. 6. Far far away from the mailbox and even further from the garbage station. 7. The gym opened late and closed early. 8. Rude staff. When I signed the lease, I met very nice staff. Then things changed fast. 9. No big dogs in the community even it is just your friends visiting you with their dogs. 10. It seems like a lot of residents do not pick up dog droppings and no rules are against this behavior. So take care if you walk at night on the grass. 11. They use the lakes to water the grass, which makes the ground and even the wall of the house smell awful. 12. Rent rising every year. 13. Last but not least: the end of my story as a resident in the Links of Starkville: I was charged twice for the last month rent, which left my bank account a negative balance. When I realized it, I was charged $36 OD fee. Now, it went up to be $72 OD fee and they still refused to pay back the overcharge to my bank account.

Far too expensive for what you get.

My daughter has been at the link almost a year this is the worst apartment ever. The tour was a lie from the start apartment nothing like they describe. Some of the Furniture was broken and they didn't fix it only said throw out an buy your own but stil want me to pay for a furnished apartment. Couch set look like something in the 70's. Washer didn't work and stil don't wash good, dryer has to be turned on 4 time to dry cloths, dishwasher leaks water. Air smells like something burning. Tub, sink and toilet water bags up. And now the breaker keep popping fire but no one has came to check it. And on top of that just yesterday I was walking in front of my daughter's apartment and s dang snake jump out the hedges at me. There is poor outside lights so u can't really see what crawling. This apartment is just a waste of money it's definitely not worth it quite and that about it. Poor investment

Pretty outside, spacious, and quiet. Rude staff Over priced Infestation problem no matter how clean you keep it and if you bomb repeatedly (2 neighbors, in different buildings, confessed that they had the same issue) Thin walls, I can hear people go to the restroom When I moved in, it wasn't clean there was still dirt and dust everywhere (took me 2 days to clean since I was pregnant)

Those of you commenting about not getting your deposit back... I cleaned like a mad woman determined to get the deposit back on my son’s apt ... since he was just moving into a bigger apt I had a new lease to look at. It is in the lease as pretty as you please... $195 is for the professional carpet cleaning, general cleaning, and new paint. Cleaning is the responsibility of the vacating tenant, but it is apparently cleaned again. Paragraph 23 says at least $195 will be taken to get it ready for next tenant. That doesn’t bother me as much as the poor grounds keeping and the fact that few people scoop after their pooch poops.

Lee Ann May

We had the exact experience as Terri Williams. I was told the reason we are receiving back only $50 is that they had the apt cleaned, bought paint, repainted and carpets cleaned. My son and I spent 4 hours cleaning that apt from top to bottom and left it better than we found it. All they had to say for themselves was the flip answer, "It's all in the contract" and "our corporate office......" I guarantee you they did not repaint the entire apartment as he took great care of it and no damage was done, and I'd be surprised if they actually cleaned the carpets too. So, if you should rent an apt from here, do not expect more than $50 of your $250 deposit back.

I have been staying this complex for over a year now first in a one bedroom then in a two bedroom. I have dealt with the a couple of outrageous fees since being here but this one takes the cake. Since moving into this apartment I have dealt with a lot first it wasn't properly cleaned and painted before I moved in all of which I noted on my inspection sheet and nothing was ever done about that then there are ants EVERYWHERE, begging for pest control to come out, a boiled egg smell that they say the can't do anything about and actually laughed at me for asking if there was anything they can do, my A/C was out for THREE WEEKS and they brought me a little tiny air conditioner that felt like a glorified fan, and the card board they put in my window kept falling letting more bugs into my apartment. I have dealt with all of this gracefully not yelling or cursing AT ALL I stayed calm, paid my rent on time and waited patiently on issues to be resolved two of which still haven't been and now I'm being charged 11 days worth of late fees despite my attempts every other day for two weeks to find out what was going on why the money hadn't come out of my account and being told to just keep calling to check on it and to ask my bank etc. etc. all of which I patiently did not 13 days later they finally figure out what happen and I have to pay for it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX TO ANYONE.

I was charged over $500 when I moved out on July 28, 2018 to “repair” their apartment, and it was sent to collections before I had a chance to talk to them. I want this fixed. I realize college kids account for the majority of the population here, so they are probably partying/damaging the property, but I’m a single mom and took care of the property. When I moved in the apartment, there were marks on the walls so I could tell it wasn’t freshly painted. Several of the door frames were messed up from what looked like damage by a pet. The carpet and vinyl were far from new. My windows leaked water when it rained. The bugs were so bad that I couldn’t cook in my own apartment, which led to constant cleaning and stress. My neighbors voiced their stress over it as well. I didn’t even live there very long. I moved out 7 months before my lease was up, but continued to pay since I was under contract... I recently spoke to the new manager, Colby, who was quick to show he could care less. The Links at Starkville is not a place to call home.

Jamey Hollingsworth

I thought the staff was extra friendly at first. Couple of months went by and I started noticing calls coming from staff after hours to my significant other phone. Needless to say, the assistant manager was not being professional at all towards our family. Those young people need to learn professionalism by not being intimate with their residents.

I am concerned about the lack of customer service displayed at the Starkville location of The Links. Throughout the course of the year, I have done my best to be an agreeable resident by following the signed contract, and being a pleasant neighbor. However, over the past few months, I have been met with nothing but inconsiderate attitudes, and difficulties. 1st) When I came home from work one day, there was a baseball-sized hole in the wall leading to my patio (I am on the first floor). I called the office to report this as vandalism, and that it would be necessary for someone to come and repair this. The lady at the desk sounded annoyed, and said that they already knew about it, and I needed to put in a maintenance request. When I asked if she could make note of the report since I was already on the phone and repairing the hole would not require anyone to enter my apartment, she said no. 2nd) I had to submit two maintenance request 2 months a part before they came and repaired the hole. 3rd) When it came time to consider renewing my lease, I called the office to see if I would be able move out of my current 2 bedroom apartment into a 1 bedroom apartment. The lady at the desk said no. When I asked why that was, she said because you have to stay in the 2 bedroom. Therefore, I had to begin to search for apartments with another company. 4th) Being that I was not allowed to sign a lease for a 1 bedroom, I found another apartment. The move in date for that apartment is 2 days after my lease ends with the Links. I asked if they would be willing to extend my lease for two days, being that I was willing to pay for that time, and the answer I was given was no because they have to clean. They said they have numerous apartments to clean, and when I asked if they could simply clean mine last considering the new resident was not moving in until 6 days after I would have moved out, they still said no. Now I have to find a storage facility in town to hold my belongings for two days. Moreover, I am having to move twice, which is very hard on me as a university administrator during a very busy time.

I lived at the links for a year. The landscape of the apartment complex is nice and the building I stayed in was pretty quiet overall I was satisfied with my stay but I am pretty easy to satisfy. Cons: the walls seem very thin I could hear everything above a whisper outside of my apartment and I could often hear the movement of the people who live above me but the good thing was that the noise I did hear wasn't anything unbearable.

The links at Starkville was a nice place to live, "affordable" until I experience rent increase every year for the pass 5 yrs with no improvement to the property. Why the increase on long term residents.

Gabby Thomas

I would not recommend this place to anyone. It's overpriced and they will try to squeeze every dollar from you. If you do decide to stay here and you find yourself moving out ... don't worry about cleaning the place.. They will just keep your deposit anyway.

I'm so satisfied with the Links Apartment in Starkville, MS. A lot of pretty girls work in the Office service desk. Taylor and Assistant Manager DeBreka are sweet and friendly. Manager Christine is very professional in managing all workers in the Links. Maintenance leader Cole is a responsible person, and he always solves maintenance related works timely and efficiently. Having been moving into Links for more than one month. So far so good.

A P M

My daughter has lived here for a year now. Her dishwasher has never worked properly and she has received outrageous power bills for such a small apartment and one person. She has had maintenance come repeatedly to check the thermostat & dishwasher but nothing has changed. There are stray cats outside of her building because someone keeps feeding them and her dog gets fleas on him when they pass through that area. Talked to management, nothing has been done. The pool is only "open" for like 3 months out of the year, which is ridiculous in Mississippi and during most of that time it is closed for maintenance. I would NOT recommend living here. The only reason I gave it two stars is because it's not full of partying college students.

Cody Haynes

Pros: golf course, tennis courts, and pool are well maintained. Maintenance is usually quick on fixing any issues that are turned in. Cons: staff is rude, staff does not answer phone after 5, ants are horrible inside the apartments, very thin walls, can hear people walking above you, no courtesy call when the water is shut off due to maintenance, printer in the computer lab is always down, and parking is an issue during school terms. - Has a lot of potential just needs better management/staff.

Jessica Aycock

Was told around 60 days before moving out that there was nothing else I needed to do till move out day. They are not returning my deposit because I didn't sign a form in time even though I was told I didn't need to. Said they couldn't do anything about. Save yourself some grief and go to a locally owned realtor and avoid these money grabbing corporations. We also issues with the apartment. The golf course was more important than the residents. They didn't think no AC in summer was an emergency. There was huge bug problems that they did nothing about. I've lived in Starkville for 5 years, so trust me when I say it is not worth it!! Avoid this place like the plague!

Apartment is a total rip off. The management only cares about sucking your funds out of you, and they aren't even NICE about it. We moved in on the 14th of the month, and when we opened the door it was FREEZING in there. Turns out they left the AC running at 50 degrees the entire time. Two weeks later we received a notice of an $80 electric bill from the 5th to the 14th, which we were not even in the state for! They claimed that we didn't put the electric in our name until the 14th (which they said we should have done) so they were charged an increased corporate rate. When I told them that someone had left the AC running 24/7 that entire time, they shrugged their shoulders and wouldn't do anything about it. I offered to average out the amount of money we spend per day on electricity, and pay 9 days worth of that. Nope, no deal. So now not only are we responsible for paying the increased corporate rate because according to them, we should have put it in our name on the 5th (keep in mind they knew we would not be in town until the 14th), but we should also have to pay for the cleaning people forgetting to turn the AC off and leaving it running the entire time. Don't live here. They just want to suck the money right out of you even if if was something they were responsible for.

During my stay at The Links I ran into several problems and I even recently had a problem with my refund of my security deposit. I had ant problems and complained numerous times with no action taken, my shower did not drain properly no matter what kind of cleaning products were used, and my air conditioning went out 3 times. I paid over $400 in a security deposit and I didn't even receive $250 back in a refund. I had my apartment cleaned after I moved out and before inspection, yet I had to pay for additional cleaning and painting for damage that was already in my apartment when I moved in. It may seem like a good deal for a college town, but it only caused me more problems in the end.

What more could you ask for? Being a young professional (meaning out of college) this was the perfect environment. Peace and quiet with a thriving community feeling. Apartment was in great condition upon moving in and only had 1 maintenance request in the year I've lived here (which was fixed that day). Staff is warm and welcoming. I would recommend this to anyone who is : A serious college student, grad student, young professional or family. Plus you live on a golf course! Who doesn't like admitting that?

Chelsea CC

I honestly don't know what everyone is complaining about. A. Nobody gets their deposit back at any apartment complex in starkville B. I had an ant problem, and they came the very next morning to fix it, and they sprayed and even checked under the carpets. C. I've NEVER had a problem with the staff here. They are always exceptionally kind and helpful towards me and my boyfriend. This is a fantastic place to live! The apartments themselves are very high quality inside, except for the carpets lol. The rooms and closets are exceptionally spacious, and the kitchen has a nice layout. Anytime we put in a maintenance request, someone comes to fix it within 24 hours. Recently our washer went out, and they had a new one in our apartment waiting on us when we got back from work THE NEXT DAY!!! My only complaints are small things: 1. Cheap carpets (which will be a problem anywhere in Starkville.) 2. The closet doors have these ball things that make them annoying to open and close when they get old. 3. The bathroom is a little small in the 2 bedroom model. 4. They only offer wifi from maxxsouth (maxxsouth kind of sucks) 5. No walking on the golf trail during daylight (I was actually pretty disappointed about this, but it's completely justified) And that's it! Other than that, it's an amazing place to live, with some of the cheapest rent in Starkville!!!

Mary Oana

We have lived here going on 4 years. It’s quiet & clean. Every time we’ve had an issue, it is resolved in a matter of hours if not sooner. We have a 9 hole course that my husband & his buddies enjoy. A pool my grand child loves. Most of our residents are hard working responsible adults that call this place “home”.

김홍석

It was good, but when I turn on the heat after long trip, then fire alarm beeps ramdomly.

I lived here for almost four years and was an ideal tenant. The way I was treated by management upon moving out was unprofessional, rude, and not informed. If you live at The Links, you will not get your deposit back. The itemized deductions that automatically are taken out are for cleaning ($60.00), painting ($60.00), cost of paint ($15.00), carpet cleaning ($60.00), and the replacement of drip pans in the stove ($15.00). Of the $250.00 deposit, that only leaves $40.00, which will automatically go to the water and trash company that The Links contracts with. These deductions are non-disputable regardless of the condition of the unit. The management in Starkville, as well as at Lindsey Property Management (their parent company), are non-responsive and dismissive. Please take my advice: Do not live here, you'll undoubtedly regret it.

Phil Lollar

I lived at The Links for a year and loved it. It was quiet, the managers were great, and not many college students lived there. I loved everything about The Links and would have stayed there if I weren't transferred for work.

We have not had a good experience with the Links in Starkville. They have horrible management and no customer service. They have changed the way you pay your bills which would be fine if there would have been a training process and trail period. We were unknowingly late on a payment due to computer error and they will not work with us to fix the matter. Went to the office multiple times to fix the problem and thought we had it fixed with the help of someone who worked in the office to only find out my a letter it was not handled and being evicted! They are not willing to work with us and corporate was just as rude. I have left a message for a supervisor to call me. Absolutely no customer service on any level of this company!! Over all we have lived here for over 3 1/2 years and our experience has been mostly bad! I would not recommend living here to anyone.

Ray Taylor

One star is to good for them .

Very Beautiful Place. Apartment are kind of small. Wish they had 3 bedrooms. Pool is amazing! Very nice Staff!

Samantha Kent

Rent was due on the first but said we have a three day grace period & after that it's $10 a day. Awesome. It's the 8th & my husband doesn't get paid until the 13th. They were aware of this. We agreed to pay the late charge. Just now someone put a note on the door saying we're to vacate the apartment by the 12th. Although we're late, which is our fault, & because we just had to pay full price when we moved in on the 25th. The staff is rude. They can't seem to get their priorities straight. All in all it IS NOT worth the money you put in these apartments. Not to mention when we first moved in all the furniture was scuffed up bad. The staff is friendly until you're a resident.

Sherman Simpson

I agree with all others comments. If you view photo below straight from my online Account page you will be charged a minimum of $235 of your initial $250 deposit no matter what. There was zero damage done by us to carpet or walls requiring any paint or more than a good vacuum. Also, DON'T be fooled by MODEL apartment, your furnished one will have nothing resembling the items in the model one. Couch was terrible and bed was worse. Here are a list of basic departure charges. Lived for 2 years. Pros: Nice Landscape, Nice appliances. Mediocre Staff Cons: Most expensive apartments; Very Very thin walls. So thin that you could hear a phone vibrating from the other side of the wall; Very very cheap fans and lights. Fans are literally a joke. Bulbs are gone every month and tenant is responsible. Apartment premises has insects; Conclusion: All-in-all, not worth the money. Do not fall for the looks!!

Terri Williams

My daughter lived there for a year. She took very good care of her apartment and still only received 47.00 back from the 250.00 that we paid. I loved all the excuses they had for not returning at least half of her money back. If you are taking real good care of your apartment because you think you will receive at least half of your money back you can forget it. When it comes to getting your money back this place is a joke!
