We stayed at Fortune Bay casino and played the next morning at the Wilderness. This is one of the best courses I have ever played and well worth the trip up north. My compliments to the staff, from the time we got to the bag drop to the time we left the experience was enjoyable.

No golfing in the rain. Played some slots, then had lunch at The Wilderness. My "toasted" club sandwich was...okay. The bread was toasted BLACK! And the wooden skewers used to hold it together? After I pulled each one out, fully intact, after taking a bite, I found the first inch tip, (the sharp, pointy end), IN MY MOUTH!!! WILL NOT be going back for lunch ever again! Have life-long family in the area, who were with us, and I sure hope they'll spread the word!! Ugh!

Awesome golf course! So many holes that could be considered the signature hole. Fairways were plush and green as can be. Greens were smooth and pretty flawless. Employees were very friendly and personable. I believe this is the best course probably in the state. If you are a visitor, this is a great choice or even the 2 courses at giants ridge. All within half an hour of each other

You'll be stranded at the airport. Looks great on paper. Called to see what ground transportation exists from Airport (12D). Very polite receptionist. No UBER, no cab. She agreed one would be stranded at the airport. Instead we will fly to Sand Valley in Wisconsin.

(Repost) I Golfed this course the Wilderness on Saturday 5-26-18 thinking it was going to be outstanding as in previous years the course is in terrible condition the fairways are beat up from the winter and most and I mean most of the greens are destroyed. If you are a golfer I would highly not recommend you spending the time nor the expensive green fees to play this course at this time!! I was very disappointed! I golfed with a foursome and I paid for the foursome and I completely regret it. I also talked to the manager about them not notifying people of the condition of the course and he continued to tell me that there was not going to be any type of refund. Though he did say he might send me some discount coupons in the mail which I have yet seen (repost: the staff did send me two courtesy rounds of golf for the terrible conditions of the course but they sure took their time and I'm not really sure why they couldn't reimburse me while I was there!) again if you are a serious golfer, Putting is a third of your game this course will disappoint you completely when your ball changes Direction three times on the way to the hole not good. This course is strictly for amateurs at this time

Has one green that is the textbook definition of gimmicky (can't remember which hole, but anyone who has played here will know what I'm referring to) - other than that, the course is an absolute pleasure to play. The clubhouse has an interesting lunch menu as well, highly recommended!

We celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary with dinner at the Wilderness. Chicken marsala very good, huge potion and the sauce delicious. Enjoy the salad too, great selection of greens presented in a English cucumber wrap! Then we were presented with a complementary desert of flambe banana waffle. Enjoyed everything and the wonderful service, thank you Erin.

I ordered a filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes. The steak was all fat and the potatoes were worse than instant potatoes, no flavor and watery. Very disappointed, paid $30 for fat and potato flakes. My husband had the sliders, those were good and only $4.

Beautiful course with everything you'd expect for the price. The course has its fair share of difficulties and different looks. Tighter fairways with some areas of the rough left rocky and untamed. Some holes have parallel fairways at different elevation and water comes into play on several holes. Many greens are large and domed with different elevation levels.

August 2017 Review: I golfed this course twice last year with my mom the most recent was in August. I absolutely love this course and it's by far my mom and I's favorite course in the area. When we went we had a lot of rain prior and the rumor was that this course doesn't drain well but we didn't find that to be true since the course was in incredible shape.

The Wilderness is a great north Minnesota golf course. I didn't know what to expect as I've played courses north of here in the past that left much to be desired. I've played here three times in the past few years and have not been disappointed. Beautiful scenery, diverse and challenging but not overly penal holes. I am traveling back to Fortune Bay and the Wilderness this evening so here's to another fun round at a jewel of Northern Minnesota! Ok, I just returned home and as always the course is in great shape. The greens were being repaired though. It was a long, long winter with late snow. The golf course Superintendant is doing a great job. There can’t be any or many courses north of the Wilderness’s parallel that are better.

Very scenic course. In very nice shape. Didnt score well but not the courses fault. Every employee that we dealt with was great, the staff is outstanding. Course is long, pay attention at the starter box and use the tees recomended by handicap.

Great restaurant. The host let us know right away that they were short staffed and it may be a bit of a wait, which we did not mind at all, we just appreciated them letting us know. The waitress also apologized for the wait and she was very accommodating. The view is great and staff is friendly. Great place for a family.

Golf course is absolutely amazing. Course is not terribly tough so anyone can play it. Staff on the course made the day perfect. Rangers were very courteous and talkative. And did I say that the course was amazing, because it was. Well worth the trip and I would do it again soon.
