After all the hype I finally played the classic and was it ever in good shape. The design however I thought was just mediocre. My own preference is the late Mr. Palmer's take on golf course design, how he always made sure the hole was laid out from the tee box. There was a few quirky holes that needed local knowledge assistance off the tee. I can not say enough about how well manicured this place is. Best kept golf course I've played in Minnesota.

By far the most challenging golf course I have ever played in MN. Incredible service as you arrive at the property. Fairways are perfect and the greens are very difficult to read. Very expensive, otherwise its a great place to relax and just play golf

the Course itself is decent in regards to the conditions...greens were really fast! In my own personal preference I would rank the quarry and deacons above this just because I like the more open course design of those two but it’s worth playing as I think it may be the hardest course I’ve played but maybe I just need to play it more for better course knowledge.

The Classic course at Madden's Resort on Gull Lake, rated 4-1/2 stars, is a championship layout that ranks with some of the best in Minnesota. This tree-lined parkland course provides a wonderful test for your all-round game, with many attractive, skilfully crafted and challenging holes to enjoy. A must play if you are in the area.

Went on a trip with buddy's and on the final day of golf we came to the classics. Once we went to pay in the pro shop the two working in there were almost oblivious to how a debit card works. Once they could not figure out how it works they asked if they could write down my card number on a piece of paper. Unbelievably bad service ruined the round to which we could only play 9 holes. Golf was way over priced for the state of the course. Would rather play at the quarry's at Giants ridge and save 70 dollars

I loved the course and had a great time in mid-July. I wanted to especially recognize the starter who couldn't have been more friendly, helpful and encouraging. By far one of the most customer-minded people I have ever run into on a golf course anywhere. I'm sure that I've played over 100 different golf courses in my time and I've golfed around 2,500 times total. This starter and his friendliness was at the top of the list in my golfing experiences

Course always lives up to its name. If you play golf in the Gull lake area and don't play the Classic you are truly missing out. Staff is as awesome as the Course!

Very nice course, WAY overpriced. First off, people were very nice and it was beautiful. The course was in great shape. I have to say however, that I've played much nicer courses for half the cost. We waited until after 3:00 so that it was "only" $85. I was glad I played it, just won't be a return visitor.

Our family has been vacationing at Madden's for 55 years. Since they built The Classic, we meet at the restaurant for lunch before checking into our rooms at the resort. The menu varies from year to year, but from soup to salad to fritatta to burgers to coconut shrimp, everything was excellent as was the service from Romanian brother's Alex and Andre. If you golf, course is highly rated and if you need golf attire or golf balls, the retail shop is adjacent to the restaurant. The outdoor patio is beautifully landscaped and a great place for a cool drink.

Excellent golf course, challenging but fair. A variety of teeing options. Bring your "A" game putter if you want to score. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. On top of that, the Classic Grille offers excellent food!

Every hole is a signature layout. Beautiful MN course. An 18 hole round followed by a massage is a tremendous day. Played every year in 90s.

Absolutely excellent golf course. Probably the best one so far that i have played. Make sure you have plrnty of golf balls cause you will lose some.

Didn't golf here but ate at The Classic grill. Food was delicious and service was fantastic! I can't remember our waiter's name but he was from Romania and he was so sweet and funny. He was very attentive. We will definitely be back!
