REVIEWS OF Royal Golf Club IN Minnesota

Barb Kelm

Wow! Beautiful outside area to eat, drink and relax. And great food top of it! We will Debye back.

Jeffrey Hall

The course is in great shape and beautiful. Very fun and challenging. Front nine will challenge any golfer regardless of handicap, but the back 9 are more forgiving and let you open up the driver. I will definitely be going back this summer. All the staff were very nice.

Jennifer Love

Love that they want to get kids playing golf! I have a 3 and 5 yr old who love the mini course! Thank you!

Tim Kletti

Amazing course. Very different nines. Front is pretty straight forward, but water in play. Back side greens have huge undulations. Great course, great conditions. Would play time and time again!

Rob Gamache

Absolutely love this course. The front 9 is so challenging and scenic while the back is classic Arnie. Staff are super accommodating and the food at the snack shack was great. Easily my favorite course in the cities.

Dennis Klohs

Great facility - why drive to Brainerd when Lake Elmo is just as good.

Jake Daniels

Easily the best public course in the Metro right off the bat; top 5 public in the state. Give it a couple years to develop and it will be top 5 overall in the state or better.

Jack Higgins

Very fun course, not very hard.

Padraic McGuire

This former 3M Country Club is being transformed into a smaller golf course and real esyate development. The clubhouse has been updated. The Northwoods Lodge architecture is hidden with a white painted interior, reeplacing the log structure. The upper floor has been opened, creating a larger space for events (we attended a wedding reception). Id guess it will hold 150- 180 guests. There is a smaller restaurant to the west of the main entrance with a much expanded bar compared to the 3M days. We did not have time to explore downstairs, but it appears they have gotten rid of the large fireplaces on the lower floor and moved the staircase whete they once were. Overall, it looks like it is functional and likely a more financially prudent layout, but I do miss the private club atmosphere thst ecisyed before.

Very picturesque course with some tough pin placements. Nice clubhouse.

Johan Gomez Sang

Great venue for private events.

Kathy Klohs

Lovely facility! Enjoyed a delicious brunch. Will go back again.

Daniel Graves

Great course. I used to play it often when it was Tartan Park. They really upgraded the clubhouse and changed a lot of the holes.

Trent Unterreiner

My favorite new course in Minnesota. This place has it all!

Barb Kelm

Wow! Beautiful outside area to eat, drink and relax. And great food top of it! We will Debye back.

So glad I got to come out an play this amazing course. Great people, great layout, and great conditions. A must visit for all golfers near and far.

Leo Hansen

I loved the layout and tip my cap to the Queen and King for putting together an intriguing design. The greens hadn't been cut in a couple of days and were not rolling well at all. Our cart died in the middle of the 14th fairway so we contacted the pro shop, and they said someone would be out right away. No one came to our rescue and we pushed our cart for the last four and a half holes. When we mentioned it to the cart guys after the round, they were extremely dismissive of the complaint and frankly very rude. Overall, the service level left a lot to be desired from a club care perspective, especially considering the $90 greens fee at 4pm on a Sunday.

Jeffrey Hall

The course is in great shape and beautiful. Very fun and challenging. Front nine will challenge any golfer regardless of handicap, but the back 9 are more forgiving and let you open up the driver. I will definitely be going back this summer. All the staff were very nice.

Kelly S

Service was horrible. Waited for 20 minutes for drinks. Ended up getting them from the bar myself. Servers lacked experience, urgency, and basic knowledge of menu. Food came at two different times. Half of the group was almost done with the meal before the other half got theres. Such a beautiful place bit highly dissatisfied with the service. Next time we'll sit at the bar.

Austin Colvard

Played this course in 2017 and loved every second of it!

Caleb Zimmermann

Enjoyed the course! Never played it before the renovations so I don’t have anything to compare it to. The greens rolled smooth!

Ryan Satt

excellent golf course. front 9 is spectacular

Michael Muilenburg

Great renovation, Good food, and nice meeting rooms.

James Oman

Immaculate golf course. Greens are definitely a challenge but still very fun. Front 9 is more challenging than back 9 due to tighter windows on the fairway shots. Would highly recommend this course to anyone.

christine nordal

We sat out on the patio under an umbrella on a beautiful sunny day. The food was great. I highly recommend it.

Jennifer Love

Love that they want to get kids playing golf! I have a 3 and 5 yr old who love the mini course! Thank you!

Ryan Kukla

Honestly this course has the probably the best layout in the Twin Cities. Definitely need to plan out your shots here, as every green has multiple tiers. They did an amazing job building this course and I'm mad at myself for not playing it until September last season... Will be making this a regular stop going forward!

Brooks Ellingson

An outstanding experience from start to finish. From the golf to the food to the friendly staff, fantastic!!

Brad Mateer

This is the old tartan golf course they took the 27 holes made it into 18 with Arnold Palmer design on one 9 and Annika Sorenstam 9 for the queens side. The course is in great shape however we went on a day that it rained that morning and it was walking only. The course is very hilly and a challenge to walk especially if you have any problems. Also our group had problems with the garmin's and any GPS yardage meters it did not read them we had to guess on yardage it was not well marked on course as well. Also no water or cart going around for drinks. I would play it again only with a cart.

Kimberly Schommer

My husband was dying to try it and I begrudgingly obliged...and thank goodness I did. I had the stuffed salmon, he the fried chicken. I cannot remember the last time I ate such wonderful food that came out and stayed hot during our meal. The clubhouse is beautiful and laid back. Will defiantly be going back!

Matt Davis

Great course. Love what they've done with the old Tartan Park layout. The greens are tricky, but I had heard that going in. The only drawback was that we played on a hot and humid day (Memorial Day weekend) and there wasn't any water on the front 9. Well, they must have realized that so they had a huge bucket of bottled water on ice at the turn. They were giving them away free and encouraging us to grab more than one. Nice restaurant and patio for drinks afterward. I would definitely recommend!

MaryLee Cornwell

Been here twice for dinner. First time we were impressed. Second time, not so much. Drinks were made poorly and the ‘famous’ fried chicken lacked seasoning. Overall it’s a good value and a beautiful new interior.

Dan Lee

This course is in fantastic condition, given that it is brand new. Palmer and Sorenstam have done a wonderful job on the layout. Fitting that it was Arnie's last design. Don't let the big greens fool you. The speed and undulation will challenge you. Friendly and welcoming golf staff. Get out and play The Royal!

Tim Kletti

Amazing course. Very different nines. Front is pretty straight forward, but water in play. Back side greens have huge undulations. Great course, great conditions. Would play time and time again!

charles curran

Allen Jensen

Beautiful course in great condition! Definitely going back to play it again. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Mike Madison

Holy smokes. This course is beautiful but really challenging. The first half, designed by Anika Sorenstam, is picturesque and has lots of elevation changes. The back nine, designed by THE Arnold Palmer, will make you crazy on the greens. Hills and valleys, slope changes and fast false fronts will make you want to stick your wedge shots and double think your putting lines. The clubhouse is pristine and the outdoor grill window makes the turn a breeze. Really friendly and attentive staff make this a for sure return trip club.

Cole Dilaura

Unbelievable golf course. Will test all parts of your game, especially the flat stick! The food and service are above and beyond as well.

Mitch Spargur

Good golf, nice course. Enjoyed our golf tournament .

Michael Winter

Nice new course. Some shorter holes with huge undulating greens. Some of the undulations are almost comical.

6peteyang

I never played the previous Tartan layout so I am unfamiliar with the changes, but the Royal Golf Club is a great track that will only get better as the course matures. The course has a mix of hazards including water, bunkers, fescue, and trees so driving is a premium with fairways that are accomodating. Greens are larger than most courses, but often tiered rewarding good ball striking on approaches. Speaking of which, your shot into the green usually necessitates factoring in elevation in both directions. The greens are immaculate, but expect very challenging putts with multiple undulations. There are a handful of holes on the front and back that could be considered signature holes. The driving range is fantastic. It’s wide long and flat with three greens at 100, 150ish, and 175ish. Each green has two flags about 10-15 yards apart. Oh, and the balls will fly true because you’ll be hitting Titleist NXT Tour range balls. For bombers, the range extends out to around 300 yards. Warning for the diggers out there… you may find a pretty large softball-sized rock from time so just be wary of the spot your hitting from. Next to the range is a chipping/short range area. I’d say it’s more conducive to chipping and putting than 20-50 yard pitch shots. As for the staff, I couldn’t say enough good things. I was going out to the range late last year on a late Sunday afternoon only to find out it was closed for the year. Mark Retica let me on the course and even offered a push cart for me. Unbeknownst to him I had just gotten laid off from a company I had worked for over 10 years and just wanted to hit some balls to take my mind off things. Not being able to hit balls on the range isn’t the end of the world, nor is losing a job, but his act of kindness will be something I’ll always remember. In a lot of ways, it was the best round I’ve ever had so thank you, Mark! Go play the Royal Golf Club!

DeLissa Mulville

Drinks were good. No food was ordered. Staff was friendly.

Bruce Loney

check out the new royal oaks golf course and had lunch at Arnies. Brand new reastaurant with bright decor and good food with a wonderful view of the golf course. highly recommend trying this out especially after a round of golf.

Michael Smith

Edited; Originally one star. I have since returned to the Royal after a year. I played in an event organized by Twin Cities Golf, who put on wonderful, fun events for golfers across the metro. During this visit, I was able to reconsider my previous view, but it is clear that the Royal still has a long way to go to being one of the premium metro golf courses. Is it a good layout, yes. Is it a challenge, yes. Will it mature into a great golf course, time will tell, but it certainly hasn't quite got there yet. The design is fun. There are various holes that will leave you with a pleasant feeling. The par 5 second, for example, is a great risk reward hole that can certainly leave you bruised or elated. The 5th is another good hole with challenge in the shape of the green. The 15th is a driveable par four, with significant danger around the green. All of these holes, will be the talking point at the well appointed restaurant afterwards. And the food was good. The biggest drawback is that it just isn't "there" yet. It is under new management, and I believe that the pedigree of the manager will certainly raise standards (he has a wonderful background), but at the moment it just isn't there. The things you expect at top flight courses just aren't quite in place. So would I play here again, yes. Would I expect the service to match the industry standard at this level? Maybe not. Royal in name; bourgeois currently. Original Review; I hate leaving poor reviews but on this occasion, the Royal leaves me no choice. This review is purely down to the management. Three of us played here about a month ago, and it has some very endearing aspects. The layout is interesting and I'm sure it will become a good course but at this time the conditions are not good enough. The greens are comical - huge undulations and hillocks in the middle of greens. The rate was not as advertised on the online booking. And such requirements as yardages are not posted nor available on GPS. All of which is fixable, but the attitude of the management needs changing. I wrote to the course privately to discuss some of the concerns we had as a group. The director of golf at the time, appreciated the feedback and agreed that the service we had received was not worthy of the price. As such, he offered myself and the group a free round at a later point when he felt the course was playing "as charged". We were pleased with this offer, and graciously accepted. Excited to play again at a point in time when we would see the course in full glory. I reached out to the club this last week and was told that the director of golf had since changed and that his offer was not now going to be upheld. Upon pressing, I was told that it was the management's decision and would not be granted. I asked for further contact details and explained the situation and now I am being ignored entirely by them! I have given them the opportunity to respond to and to rectify this situation but their approach appears to be "ignore". It is not unreasonable to expect to receive the offer given and accepted by a director of the business regardless of whether his time has now passed. We are not trying to just get a free round of golf, but claim the offer the club extended. Seems like a very poor way to deal with customers who are happy to play top level courses at high green fee rates. I'm very disappointed by them. Needless to say I have taken my membership money elsewhere.

Adam Board

Amazing course. One of my favorites in the state. Course has some challenging holes, but plays fair. Excited to play here again, the views aren’t bad either!!

Morgan Olson

Awesome! Grounds crew does an amazing job here!

John Wood

Lake Elmo is fortunate to have The Royal Club! Excellent restaurant

Tess Tiernan

Wonderful appetizers. Tasty, not overly spicy, and great variety of offerings. Knowledgeable staff about wine and food. Easy to have table conversations and not have to listen to others.

Bobcat

Played this course for the first time last year and it is simply the best course in Minnesota!

Jason Wachter

I had a great experience golfing. The greens are tough and the the front nine is challenging. Though, for the price I would of expected GPS on the carts. I will definitely go again!

Jerry Thurston

Nice looking houses being built out there

Jerome Hoffman

A difficult but wonderful Golf Course with a beautiful Clubhouse, good service good food, a fun day.

Gabys lopez

AmAzing view

Paul Porter

Course was in very good shape for this early, but still a work in progress. New design is playable yet challenging. Course not well marked for yardage. No GPS on carts. No benches or tee markers. Clubhouse and facilities are impressive. All the staff we encountered were friendly. All that considered, not a great value, particularly for seniors.

Karen Olson

We played the queen nine. It's a beautiful course. There are 5 tee boxes to choose from which is really nice because you can play to your abilities. It makes the course more playable for all golfers no matter what their level. The greens are very tricky - a lot of undulations. Definitely challenging. After the round, we sat out on the patio at Arnie's Place. The food was delicious. A lot of variety, not the same old same old. Our server was great , and the view was wonderful! Everyone we encountered was friendly and welcoming. Will be going back to check out the rest of the course and the short course, too!

Michael Janovec

Great course. Staff were very friendly.

Reid McCann

My Mom and I checked this course out last July and it is gorgeous! Beautiful layout and scenery, it's got some tough greens but they roll true. The staff is fantastic very hospitable. The food is excellent! I will be playing the Royal Golf Club every summer! 2nd outing The Royal Club is a beautiful golf course and has a fantastic restaurant and a event center. The staff is top notch. Course is challenging with different setups and some difficult greens, but the greens roll true and are in excellent condition. This is a PCC course! They will be seeing me in the future! Thanks again!

Michelle Kruzel

Really nice. Food was awesome. Waiter was good but could of done a few things better. She was very friendly but got a couple of things wrong. She is lucky we are not picky people. Other than that a beautiful place.

cwbogss

The course is very aesthetic looking, but as one other person commented not much different than Tartan park with the exception of some holes on the back nine. Extremely over priced for what you are playing. I've played nicer courses for less than I paid here. Not many yardage markers, and no pin sheet was offered, so you weren't certain on where exactly the pins were. Stopped to grab something to eat at the turn, and there was no menu showing what they offered, employee behind the counter gave us a brief rundown of what they had. I ordered a brat and it was ice cold in the middle. Don't think I will be back for sometime.

Henry Huot

Nice restaurant. Great service gpod food. Excellent cocktails. Great views inside and on huge deck.

kroggs04

Course is beautiful however they don't offer the layout of the course anywhere. Don't even have the holes numbered at the tee box. For 85$ I expect alot more. I'll try it again in the fall and see if they fixed anything.

Deborah Trunzo

Great wedding venue. Great family wedding ❤️❤️❤️

Adam Reinke

Drew Ely

Simply a great course. Wonderful layout that in my opinion is vastly superior to the old Tartan course. The course conditions are very good and match or exceed most other high end public courses in the Twin Cities. Exceptional service, great food and an excellent patio. I will be back this summer and can’t wait to see what this year brings.

Nancy Austin

I was here for a wedding. Beautiful venue! The staff were very kind and helpful. The food quality was mixed. I had the squash tortelloni. It was out of this world! In a less formal setting I would have licked the plate! I heard that the chicken was excellent as well. The people at our table were not impressed with the beef. The grandfather of the groom came over to our table and commented that it was the toughest beef he had ever had.

Terry Hennes

Love the course, grrat shape

Matt Held

Great course, great staff, will definitely be back!

Best Easter Brunch

Will Geiger

Great round of golf with my friends from out of town!

Phong Yang

I played Royal Golf Club for the first time this week and had a blast. Being early spring, the course was in great shape. The fairways were lush and greens were rolling true. Each hole is very much different the last and more-so the front nine to the back. Annika Sorenstam designed the front and Arnold Palmer the back. It was amazing to see the level of detail they put into the design each hole. From tee to green, you are given opportunities to play safe or risk it for a great shot placement to the pin. The snack bar is amazing, we got burgers at the turn! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely go back! Can’t wait to tee it up again at Royal. I snapped a few photos.

Ken Galloway

Best new course I've seen in the area in years!

William S

Awesome course challenging putts. Great views.

Caroline Klohs

Beautiful course. Amazing clubhouse. Will definitely be going back!

Todd Sidor

Challenging course. People were nice. Carts didn't have GPS. Really expensive. It's an "I'm glad I played it" course but would not go back unless I had some sort of deal for a $50 round. I also went on Father's Day and was part of the second group out for the day. They had a special where you get a sleeve of Pro V1, a Royal Club tumbler, and a t-shirt. The opener pro shop guy didn't know about it and when we checked in after the round to see if we could get the deal they were sold out....kind of frustrating.

Rick Anderson

Course is very good. When it is more mature, it will be awesome. Definitely not a walking course, so get a cart. Members are extremely arrogant, but the staff is the best.

Matthew Olson

One of the best courses in the state. Really requires shot planning and execution. Fun but fair. The staff is second to none. Super friendly and helpful. Love this place. Do yourself a favor and get out there for a round,

Rose Hoye

Great food and service! Definitely ask the bartender for a blue dolphin.

Virg Senescall

First, I had an awesome time scoring for Annika's women's collegiate tournament and hope to do it again this year. That was my first visit to Royal Golf Club. I was so impressed I brought a couple of other new comers to play it later in the year. We had a great time and appreciated the beauty and the challenges of this up scale course ! If you have not played it you it to yourself to get there this year.

Lee Schwartz

Fun. Challenging. Absolutely gorgeous. Get there! Will be back.

Andrew Brunn

- 7:30 tee time - Nobody in the clubhouse until 7:15 - Driving range was closed - No carts allowed on course due to the poor drainage - The brought carts out to us on the 9th hole because it started raining. Makes little sense - Rude grounds crew guy told us we needed to follow some painted lines in the rough with the cart - The course looks EXACTLY like the old 3M course. Not sure what Annika and Arnie did, but they certainly did not design the course. - Really disappointed in the overall experience.

Captain Awesome

Royal Golf Club is by far the best course in Minneapolis... With 5 tee boxes per hole, this course is playable for any golfer from low to high handicaps... With the friendly staff I'm confident that you will have a fantastic experience...

Nate Iliff

Very well maintained course with greens that will truly test your putting ability. If you hit good shots you can reward yourself. Will definitely be back to this course.

Mike Holloway

Absolutely love this place! One of, if not the best public courses in the cities. Always a great experience all around. Can’t wait to see this place all grown in and all the construction around it complete.

Alexander Heim

Awesome course with smooth fairways and some of the truest greens in Minnesota. Easily one of the best in the state

Karen Olson

Brad Jackson

Nice layout but it is a few years away from a top course in the metro. Still areas to fill-in. Disappointing that the course is not better marked for yardage, it was hit and miss for sprinkler heads being marked.

Randy Neyens

I heard many people rave about The Royal Club. I”m thinking Arnie and Annika...has to be, at the very least, good value, good course. Right??? WRONG. If your headed to The Royal Club to check out the Pro Shop, visit the driving range, enjoy the outdoor dining or even celebrate a marriage......good call, I get it. Nice renovation with great, relaxing views outside. Never had the food so can’t comment on that but hope It is really, really good. Why???? Because the golf course misses in so many levels. Where do I start?? Well, let’s start with the only side we played - the front 9. I was under the impression they actually changed the entire course - moved dirt, new fairways, changed layout, greens, tees bunkers (with actual sand) etc. From my perspective, when you spend $90 to play 18 with cart, you better have a really solid golf course. The entire front side was classic Tartan Park. I could have moved more dirt with the shovel in my garage. Complete and utter miss when it comes to creating a $90 viable option for metro golfers. After we finished the round, we stopped ifor a drink outside. Back 9, which we did not play, looked very lovely from our table. Would have been great had the front side taken on the same look. Problem is.....your spending $90 for 18 holes. In all honesty, your actually paying $90 for 9 cuz the front is so bad. My suggestion, take your hard earned money and play one of the other high end course in the metro. This one is a complete waste of money.

Sherry Brooks

Nice homes very pretty outside and inside lots of wasted spaces very very pricey

Scott Stangeland

Awesome steak salad. Grapefruit on the salad made Stone IPA a perfect pairing.

Paul Reese

Great course and fair layout but, over priced for the golf experience you receive. The course will be s gem for Minnesota but, be patient it will be a few years. As a player for the VGA golf association, we have played hundreds of courses and i would recommend waiting a couple of years until the staff and the course catch up.

Tom Arth

Hollis said it was going to be priced for all to afford. $85 isn't affordable for many when other courses are much cheaper and just as good.

Pat Cruikshank

Nice layout (almost identical to Tartan Park), but missing lots of amenities for the cost; no complimentrary range balls, no GPS in carts, no course maps on scorecard or elsewhere, no slope/ratings on score card and perhaps worst of all, no water on a 95 degree day. Greens nice, but full of mounds that led to a tricked up feel. Lots of other more moderate cost golf options in east metro.

Paul Reese

Brian Casteleyn

Great job on the golf course renovation. Good to see a vibrant clubhouse & restaurant, once again. Sorry to see the picnic areas, ballfields, archery range, volleyball, tennis & bocce ball courts replaced with roads & housing. Tartan Park was once a jewel but The Royal Golf Club is also a jewel, just in a different setting.

Justin Rumley

First time here and we were very impressed. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out. Nice lighting and spacious interior with a touch of modernism. I had the fried chicken which was amazing! We will be back again soon.

james nespbor

Well thought out course. Both nines do feel different. Greens were in fantastic shape. Clubhouse was nice. Definitely worth playing.

Kevin Wolfley

Beautiful facility! Awesome event staff!

Peach Larson

Jim Kroschel

2nd time here food was good service from our waitress(Jasmine ) was excellent

Cory Tolliver

Had a blast out here. Amazing views of this special course, restaurant and clubhouse. Giant putting green, chipping green and full driving range at this top notch course in Lake Elmo. Excellent customer service. Greens run amazingly true with lots of undulation. Good tip; buy the course book with hole layouts for 10$. Can’t wait to go back for another amazing experience.

Brady Berg

This was the 2nd time I played the course and it has grown leaps and bounds from the first time on the day they opened. From the moment you drop off your bag and it is loaded up for you, you are treated like royalty. The cart/bag staff load your clubs on a cart for you and clean your clubs after your round. The tee boxes and fairways are in great shape and the greens are FANTASTIC! If you ever wanted to play on Augusta's greens, this is as close as you'll get. You could play the course a million times and you'll never have the same putt twice. The bunkers are also filled with fine, white sand and not the beach sand you'll find at other courses. You owe it to yourself to check it out!

c studiner

Great food, friendly staff, clean with fresh look. I do recommend this place for your next outing.

Todd Myers

Dropped by to hit range before a local jr tournament; staff from bag drop area through the range were all extremely polite & very professional. Arnold would be very proud to see how things are run

Bailey Grant

Beautiful golf course. If you get the chance to come out and play it you won’t regret it! A lot of fun holes on this Arnold Palmer designed course!

Adam Flanders

Brought my father in law out and two nephews and we had an exceptional time at the Royal Golf club. Outstanding service and the course was immaculate--with a variety of holes and risk reward opportunities throughout. Also---enough t boxes to keep my 75 year old father in law, my hacking 44 year old self. and my long bombing nephew's all happy.

Simon Lorenzo

Pat Wolf

Great meal and environment! Brian, the manager, was very customer service oriented and friendly!!

Jo Crosby

Course is in great shape! The greens are awesome! Wonderful course!

Jacob Wenshau

Duane Gilliland

Very picturesque beautiful clubhouse greens and fairways and great condition a little rough in a couple places.

Samnang In

Great course. Great staff. Loving playing Royal. Would definitely love to play more than once a month with PCC membership.

Kevin Unterreiner

This course keeps getting better and better. Definitely one of the premier public golf & banquet facilities in Minnesota. Have played over 100 different courses around Minnesota and Royal is in my top 5. Treat yourself to a round.

Jack Murphy

Amazing

Barbara Staszel

Fabulous food, fabulous views!

James Mogen

For all of the pomp, the course was weirdly wet for the entire round, and the grounds were poorly maintained. But, I did like the 13 hole option.

Richard Newman

The course is beautiful, but there were problems. Course is poorly marked for distances and Garmin GPS wouldn't work for some reason. No GPS on carts. It's expensive and they should make it user friendly for first time players. Plus, I called and left a message for manager to provide some feedback - and never even got a return call!

Aram Young

Beautifully done

Jon Heyer

This new course is a real gem. It was truly a treat to play here. Good to have a true destination course right in the metro. Amazing staff, undulating greens that roll true, challenging holes, elevation changes, large fairways, quiet electric carts food is amazing, and even a great pro shop. Fairways and rough were cut to uniform lengths and the greens were smooth, but maybe a little slower than I prefer. Just a amazing golf experience. A number of risk/reward type holes would make this a great venue for a scramble event. Royal Golf Club is going to be a twin cities favorite for years to come.

Matty Grill

The greens may be the nicest I have played on, the consistency is the only thing that makes the extreme undulations fair and playable. The employees were extremely helpful and mostly polite. It's is definitely a course you owe it to yourself to play this summer. Great addition for the area.

Dan Purvis

I would give this course 4 stars if I payed $60 for my round with cart. But, they charged $90. It's not worth that much. Overall it's a good course. Tees and fairways are in great condition. The surround areas in the rough still need to mature. Greens were slow, inconsistent, and bumpy. The 15th hole is listed as a 314 yard par 4 from the tips. I was looking forward to playing it. Unfortunately, they have moved the tees up to basically play it as a 170 yard par 3. That was very disappointing. Although GPS on the carts is not a deal-breaker for me, it is an expectation for the price.

Jane Mendelblatt

Beautiful course...hard front nine but fun

Rene Norton

What a beautiful and friendly golf club!

Kelly Fager

Beautiful Golf Course. Gave it 4 out of a 5 due to the beverage cart girl on 7/16/18 only coming by one time due to her following the money. People were dying of thirst. Why only one beverage cart? It was an extremely hot day. I did not bother tipping her.

One of the nicest courses I've played, and the competition is hours away. Immaculate course conditions, fun layout, and excellent staff. You'll feel like you're at a private club. Will be back soon.

I had played years ago when it was called Tartan Park. There have been many significant changes. The greens were perfect and the layout was challenging. I had a great time with friends. I would recommend that this be on your bucket list to try. The staff, especially the starter, was friendly and helpful. If you think you can read greens, try out this course.

Nathan Huynh

Great food with great customer service at Arnie’s in the clubhouse. Management is very helpful and kind and the locker rooms are very well kept and tidy. Great experience!

Chaz Christensen

Great course! Couldn't wait for it to open and it didn't disappoint. Course is in great shape, greens are rolling great, very true, and staff is friendly. Very challenging greens, but loved them! The holes are very well spread out and much different than the old Tartan Park. Sand is really soft and fluffy, great layout and views! Highly recommended, it's a great challenge!

Jonathon Gordon

Fun course, some driveable par 4s,but crazy slope on greens. This is a gem that truly is a unique experience in the twin cities. Should be a must play on every golfers list!

Michael Mirzakhani

Beautiful course. Lots of trees and ponds. Club rentals in great shape!

Josh Fronek

Gorgeous track with a lot of crazy hills and water placement.

Robert Noirjean

Golf course is over priced based on the layout, (a few improvements over the old courses) conditions and amenities. Only yardage markers are tiny, hard to locate, at 150 yards. No 200 yd markers. No 100 yard markers. Phone yardage apps show the old Tartan Park courses so you play blindly guessing which club to use.

Jordan Anderson

Best golf course I have had the pleasure to play on! Amazing quality and layout of front and back 9 are hard to match! To have two of the greatest golfers if all time design the course is awesome! Highly recommend taking a day and going.

Brett MacKenzie

Nice layout. In late May '18, course is in great shape. Staff was extremely friendly, and the clubhouse was well appointed and clean. The number of yardage markers, including on the tee of the par 3's, are woefully lacking. It can be assumed that this will be remedied in time, especially when asking $86 for a round. Also, otherwise beautiful green complexes are scarred by unnecessary bumps and mounds. With most greens already having multiple levels and distinct areas, the mounds create an effect that borders the absurd. Level out the bumps and they'll have a top tier metro golf club.

Still needs a ton of work, yet they charge a premium for an unfinished course.../shrug.

This course is an absolute Gem . Very challenging . Amazing conditions . Great elevation changes . Beautifully cut bunkers . The greens are very fast and extremely sloped, the hardest greens I've played in Minnesota . The view from the clubhouse is spectacular . There are not enough great things I could say about this course . I think they filled out the old 27 hole course space perfectly. MUST play course near the Twin Cities.

Sarah Linder

Lovely food and views.

Shawn Trainor

Gorgeous course

No words, this is a hidden Gem for residents of the twin cities. Its public and plays at a championship level. Thank you to Arnold Palmer and Annika Sorenstam.

Scott Lange

What a sweet course. Absolutely loved both 9's. Greens are really fun . The food is incredible both inside and out and the pro shop has all the gear you'll need, plus you can win $10k if you make a hole in one on hole 16. Make sure to stop in and talk to Shawn.

Alec Schumacher

Highly recommend playing - this is a solid golf course and great value. Jim, Shawn and front desk staff were all very kind and welcoming. It is both challenging and playable. Very well maintained with lots of beautiful views. Walking 18 holes is a workout!

Good food and wine. Could use a couple more taps for beer.

Jerry Morris

Not that much different from Tartan Park, no GPS, overpriced at $84.00, no senior deals. The restaurant was very good and happy hour offered some excellent choices at super rates. Won't go back until they become more competitive.

Craig Olson

Very interesting remodeling of the coarse and challenging. Restaurant has excellent food and service.

Ken Schaan

Really like the practice facility, the staff is very friendly and the golf course is a big challenge. Highly recommend!

Patrick Koehnen

Course was immaculate condition. Staff was friendly and very accomadating. Definitely my favorite Twin Cities course.

Jacob Sykes

This is more like a 4.5. Golf course was a 4 because of a hole on Arnie's 9 that is still under construction (12) and a lot of the native areas don't have growth yet. There are open dirt and gravel spots that are eye sores. Also, lots of house construction going on as well. This course will easily be a 5 rating in a year or two. The facilities could not be better, your clubs are loaded for you and brought to the first tee and the restaurant and clubhouse are first rate. Also nice subtle things like Titleist range balls (not the yellow ones like most places) and sunscreen in the locker rooms.

Royal Golf Club's course design feels like a professionally designed course (which it is!). The course was in excellent shape and every hole feels like it was international and purposeful in its design. The greens are very tricky, fast and requires accurate approach shots into the pin to score. Lots of undulations. Plenty of sand traps that are actually placed strategically, unlike lots of courses where half of them never come into play. The sand is also nice white sand and not the typical sandbox sand you get at regular public courses. There wasn't any hole that I really didn't like... no 90 degree dog legs or gimmicy holes. The course does reward the "smart" play and does punish you for your bad shots but it's fair. Beautiful hole layouts and you can feel the subtle design differences between the front nine design by Annika Sorenstam and the back by Arnold Palmer. It's gonna be more expensive than your run off the mill public course but well worth it! A course for the serious golfer, if you're a beginner then it's not for you.

First time golfing there, won't be the last. Beautiful golf course and club

Brian Pearson

Great Food!! And a great staff!! Very accommodating. Everyone should try Arnies restaurant at The Royal Golf Club.

Pat C

Great course, newly open to the public. Very well maintained and fun to play.

matt nichols

Slow play...

Wayne Butt

Great time at a great place!

Colin McLaughlin

This course is not finished. It has very little to work with as far as yardages and green contours, or in some cases even finding the next hole. The sod has not joined in many areas. Staff was friendly and the restaurant was great but I was there for the golf course and I was disappointed. I'm sure it will be great in a year or two but is nowhere near an $85 golf experience now.

keith obraske

Nice development.

Scott Fitzgerald

Great food, awesome patio overlooking the course

lisa nichols

Very nice club. Friendly staff and excellent services

Bob Schneider

The beauty of this course starts as soon as you pull into the parking lot. You are greeted and treated immediately. Everything about this club is being done with pleasing the customer / golfer. The club house, Arnies, Pro Shop, Patio, everywhere you go the place makes you feel like you belong and they are there to take care of you. The course is golfer friendly with plenty of challenges. The greens are huge on many holes with tiers to change the game. Course is in great shape, get out and play here. You won't regret this and I'd bet your going back.

Nathan Huynh

Great food with great customer service at Arnie’s in the clubhouse. Management is very helpful and kind and the locker rooms are very well kept and tidy. Great experience!

Timothy Philippi

My wife and I are building a villa on the first phase of the development and couldn't be more excited! We have visited Arnies several times and toured the entire facility. The food and service has been exceptional and the remodeled facility is gorgeous! Can't wait to be living there later this year!!!
