I'm a fan of this course and thinking the reworking is going make it better. It's not long enough for the Big 10 but those golfers are on an entirely different level so I don't have to worry about that.

I love Les Bolstad - friendly staff, extremely well-maintained fairways - the greens do leave room for improvement, however. All around, the U of M course consistently provides a very positive golf experience.

The course is in rough shape compared to years past. There are a lot of rough spots on the greens and dandelions all over the course. Lumpy tee boxes. Does not seem like it has been kept very well in recent years. Similar layout and difficulty to the city courses, but many of them are in better condition which is surprising. I wouldn't pay $50 to play 18 here (w/ cart) again. Their website doesn't clarify what is considered twilight and evening so you are left guessing and they do weird things like take all the flags in before everyone is done playing in the evening.

Most greens had winter kill in which putting was not a pure roll (lot of bouncing). Fairways in good shape with trees lining both sides. Not happy that they wouldn't except the MN Golf Card for the shape of greens (over priced).

They usually have the best greens out of the MPLS public courses. Staff will just annoy you, ignore them. Pace of play is slow. The course is lined with trees offer a challenging walk. The range does not allow the big stick.

This is a classic layout with many rolling hills. After a rough winter- spring The greens and fairways are in great shape. I finished 18 holes walking in 3 hours. It’s a fun and challenging course.

Very fun course. Staff is meh (mostly college students, to be expected), fairways are usually great, greens are solid. Holes on the other hand - terrible. They are always in rough condition. Pricing correlates with the quality, 18 $30, Twilight $20. I hit an ace here on hole two so this course will always be in my heart!

I don’t know what happened but the past couple years for the course and range have been bad. The course itself is such a fun track but the greens had a tough time coming out of winter 2018 and have never fully recovered. The range has next to no grass(it’s only May though).

Went golfing yesterday. The grass on both the range and the course has grown back nicely in the past two weeks from night to day. Hardly any winter kill spots now and it looks like holes 2 and 8 were repaired with new sod since last year.

I've spent the past two years playing Les Bolsted twice a week thanks to the PCC membership program! Very friendly staff Best driving range in the Twin Cities Extremely walkable course (no long walks to tee boxes!) Lots of variety in hole layout (it's an older course and it feels COOL to play) Good snack shack at the turn and cart girls/guys check up once or twice per round A lot of recent graduates, professors of the U playing here (good company if you are paired up) Things to note: This is a city course, so it has the drawbacks you'd expect from a city course. It gets a lot of traffic and can be slow paced in the summer. The biggest thing to know is the greens were in really rough shape last year due to some winter damage (some of the worst I've seen at a golf course). But, from what I've heard the course just received a big grant and you can tell they are doing a ton of work on it. New tee boxes, cart paths, green repairs seem to be going in every day. Overall, I love this course because it maintains a laid back community-driven vibe but is a serious and challenging course to play. There aren't many courses I could say that about.

Played today (July 26, 2017) to preview for our next event and course (especially the greens) is in great shape. Looks like the USGA grant and U funding has helped take them from good to great. Friendly staff and fun layout.

Terrible customer service, we had a raincheck and they still wanted to charge us $25 each. (no such policy posted anywhere) The staff person had no customer service skills and actually threw the cart key at us...when I called the General Manager, he was nearly as unresponsive and would take no responsibilty for how terrible his Staff person was. This is a sub par course compounded with inexperienced and rude staff. Skip golfing here!

Enjoyed a nice round at U of M Les Bolstad with my BIL. We both played from maroon and it was not too bad. Fairways were in nice shape & greens were receptive and rolled true. Disappointed in fairways due to people not fixing divots. The new holes were fun (holes 1-3). Would definitely come back!

Just golfed on Sunday. The staff were very helpful and warned us that a few greens would have rough spots. Overall, the layout was nice and the greens are doing much better than last year. I went to Bunker Hill and Gross National last week; their greens were in rougher shape and had some temporaries. Fairways were great. Looking forward to their new layout that they said will be coming online soon.

Haven't played this course in 20 years. Won't be back! Anytime you have to walk a block to check in and also drop off your cart, it's a poor design. Who ever is running this course, they need to update this course!

Fairways and tee boxes are in good shape and it is an interesting course layout. However, it has probably the worst greens of any public golf course in the area. I kept going back to give it a chance but each time the condition of the greens left me disappointed. Last time I was here (May '18) many parts of the greens were simply packed sanded painted green with sparse areas of grass in between.

Great course, especially for the price. Course was maintained well, although there were some drainage issues from the recent rain. Greens were a little slow, but were consistent and rolled true, fairways were a little longer than most, and the rough was usually thin. There were a fair amount of blind tee shots. The practice facilities looked great! Looked like a solid driving range and short game area, but I did not use them, so I cannot vouch for more than that

I had heard some terrible things about it in the past few years, so I finally decided to check it out myself. It was in just as good, if not better, shape than the other public courses in the area. Great layout that challenges you to control your shot.

Nice course. The day I played it, Les Bolstad was in good shape. The setup is a little quirky with a parking lot set apart from the club house with a warning at the entrance that management is not responsible for the cars in the lot. (The whole course is behind a fence.) I played late in the day, and there was a student employee who made the rounds an hour before nightfall to pick up the flags. Other university courses are more sumptuous and challenging, but this one seems to get plenty of attention and upkeep. It is a bit hilly, and it seems to reward accuracy more than length. I would recommend based on the interest of the layout and the vibe. Holes are a bit close to tees sometimes, so wayward approaches can be a concern. This does help make it a good walking course.
