This resort is cool. I haven't stayed there, only golf. When we golfed, it was so cold and windy we really didn't get to enjoy it. Its more expensive than it should be. The place has kind of let itself go and by that I mean, they seem a little unorganized, overcrowded, and unprepared. Be prepared to be surrounding by your typical frat boy golfer who is way too loud and wants to wrestle his buddies on the practice green.

A great Northern Michigan course. Rent a cottage and play a week on the three 18s. It stays light enough until 8PM even to the end of July.

The Bear: not yet played. The Wolverine: great course, especially for the high handicapper. Wide open fairways and very hilly on and off the green. Fun for all. Played the course several times including once for a bachelor party. Spruce Run: excellent golf course. I love the spruce lined fairways, plenty of water and sand hazards, and the toughness of the greens. This is a somewhat short, but challenging course.

Well maintained course and well staffed, while the Bear was every bit as challenging as advertised, I actually found the Wolverine course to be a much more enjoyable round. Will definitely be back when I can.

Played the wolverine on july 5th. Had 2 groups at 8:18 and 8:27. The rangers made us skip a hole and our group behind us skip 2 holes and constantly told us to hurry up. Right on the score card it said 4.5 hours to play so we basically had until 1pm. We ended at 1230 and the second group that were made skip 2 holes ended at 1215 only seeing a group of 2 behind us at the last hole. For 75$ per person the service should have been way better. We golf twice a week and have been to courses all over the state and i couldnt believe the staff at one of the highest rated courses were this rude!!

The staff was great and helpful and the course was in beautiful shape even after they had aerated. However, all of the guests/members we ran into were less than great. I'll be back to play the other 2 courses, but after that I don't think I'll be back there for anything by choice.

Don’t miss out on playing this tough rascal. We played with a group of 7 and it was by far one of the toughest courses we have ever played. The greens were in excellent shape and I am glad I got to add this golf gem to my portfolio!

We stayed at the Bear resort and I was not impressed. It just doesn't have the feel of a 4 star stay. It's way over priced for the quality of what you get from the room. The designer and fit and finish of molding countertops feel super cheap. Maybe we got the worst room in the tower. No view of the east bay if your on the third floor just of garbage service and maintenance entrance. But your paying 350 a night anyway. Had a great view of the lower level buildings roof with beer bottles thrown on top. Very classy.

Ok, but over book their tee times for profits while also not consider handicap cards. Unfortunately, after making that business decision they have no problem adding anxiety to your game even when on pace.

The courses are in excellent shape. All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There is concession cart services throughout the courses and without a doubt Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is best place to spend time in Northern Michigan. I wish I lived there!

Stayed at the Golfview condos at the Grand Traverse Resort with three other couples on a four day golf/shopping vacation. And played two rounds of golf at the resort. The first round was at Gary Player's course, the Wolverine, very hard to say, being a Michigan State graduate. It is the scenic northern Michigan course, hilly with a lot of water and woods, but with four sets of trees, flexible and fair to play. The other round was on the original resort course, Spruce Run, another challenging course.

I worked at The Bear and Spruce Run over 20 years ago. Back then I got to play for free (lucky) I now play The Bear every few years because it's so very expensive. I am disappointed in the condition of the course, well not the course so much but the tee boxes and sand traps. More tee boxes I can count were beat up and damaged and no two traps had the same sand in it, some were basically dirt, lots of rocks, your feet would be in one thickness of sand and the ball in another and there's a lot of erosion that has occurred over the years. I get making the course difficult because that's what a Nicklaus course is but when things are inconsistent that makes things unfairly tougher. What I'm trying to say is this is a 80 dollar course not a 150 dollar course, for 150 I want to see immaculate conditions, the care put into the course is not what is was 20 years ago.
